A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
2 Ke mwet lalmwetmet elos kaskas, mwet uh mwel etauk. A mwet lalfon elos filakunla kas lusrongten.
The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.
3 LEUM GOD El liye ma orek in acn nukewa; El suiya ma nukewa kut oru — finne wo ku koluk.
The eyes of the LORD [are] in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
4 Kas kulang mwe akkeye kom, a kas toasr ac mwe akmunasye kom.
A wholesome tongue [is] a tree of life: but perverseness in it [is] a breach in the spirit.
5 Ma lalfon se pa in pilesru kas in luti lun papa tomom; a lalmwetmet pa in porongo kas in kai lal.
A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.
6 Mwet suwoswos elos karinganang kasrpalos, a mwet koluk elos sununtei kasrpalos, na ke pacl koluk tuku, elos kwacola.
In the house of the righteous [is] much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.
7 Mwet lalmwetmet akyokye etauk, a mwet lalfon elos tia.
The lips of the wise diffuse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish [doeth] not so.
8 LEUM GOD El insewowo ke pre lun mwet wo, a El srunga mwe kisa lun mwet koluk.
The sacrifice of the wicked [is] an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright [is] his delight.
9 LEUM GOD El srunga inkanek lun mwet koluk, a El lungse elos su oru ma suwohs.
The way of the wicked [is] an abomination to the LORD; but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
10 Kom fin oru ma koluk, kom ac sun kaiyuk upa; kom ac misa kom fin tia lela in aksuwosyeyuk kom.
Correction [is] grievous to him that forsaketh the way: [and] he that hateth reproof shall die.
11 LEUM GOD El fin ku in etu ma nukewa ma oan in facl lun mwet misa, na kalem lah sie mwet el tia ku in okanla nunak lal liki God. (Sheol h7585)
Hell and destruction [are] before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men? (Sheol h7585)
12 Mwet inse fulat tia lungse in aksuwosyeyuk elos; elos tiana suk kas in kasru sin mwet lalmwetmet.
A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go to the wise.
13 Ke pacl mwet uh engan, elos israsr srisrik, a ke pacl elos asor, insialos toasrlana.
A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
14 Mwet lalkung lungse na lutlut, a mwet sulalkung mansisna in nikin.
The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.
15 Mwet sukasrup elos moul in fosrnga pacl nukewa, a mwet ma insewowo, elos moul in engan pacl nukewa.
All the days of the afflicted [are] evil: but he that is of a merry heart [hath] a continual feast.
16 Wo in sukasrup ac in sangeng sin LEUM GOD, liki na in kasrup ac moul in lokoalok.
Better [is] little with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure and trouble with it.
17 Ac wo in mongo mahsrik yen oasr lungse we, liki na in mongo ikwa yuyu yen oasr srunga we.
Better [is] a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred with it.
18 Mwet mongsa elos purakak akukuin, a mwet mongfisrasr elos akmisye.
A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but [he that is] slow to anger appeaseth strife.
19 Kom fin alsrangesr, kom ac sun ma upa yen nukewa, a kom fin suwohs, wangin mwe lokoalok ac sun kom.
The way of the slothful [man is] as a hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous [is] made plain.
20 Sie tulik lalmwetmet el akenganye papa tumal. Sie tulik lalfon el pilesru nina kial.
A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
21 Mwet lalfon elos engankin orekma lalfon lalos, a mwet lalmwetmet elos ac oru ma suwohs.
Folly [is] joy to [him that is] destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.
22 Kutena pwapa ma srihk kas in kasru nu kac, ac tia ku in fahla wo; enenu in oasr kas in kasru sin mwet pus, na ac fah wo saflaiya.
Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counselors they are established.
23 Mwe engan na yohk in konauk kas fal nu ke sripa se lun pacl sac!
A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word [spoken] in due season, how good [it is]!
24 Mwet lalmwetmet elos fahsr ke inkanek ma utyak nu ke moul; tia ke inkanek ma oatula nu ke misa. (Sheol h7585)
The way of life [is] above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath. (Sheol h7585)
25 LEUM GOD El ac fah kunausla lohm sin mwet filang, a El fah loangela acn sin katinmas.
The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.
26 LEUM GOD El srunga nunak koluk, a El insewowo ke kas kulang.
The thoughts of the wicked [are] an abomination to the LORD: but [the words] of the pure [are] pleasant words.
27 Kom fin oru ma laesla ke inkanek kutasrik, kom ac pwanma ongoiya nu fin sou lom. Nimet eis mol in eyeinse, na moul lom fah loes.
He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.
28 Mwet wo elos nunku meet liki elos topuk. Mwet koluk elos sa in topuk, a kwana orala tukulkul.
The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
29 Ke pacl mwet wo uh pre, LEUM GOD El porongo, a El ngetla lukelos su oru ma koluk.
The LORD [is] far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
30 Ngetnget kulang ac akenganye kom, ac pweng wo ac fah akkeyekom.
The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart; [and] a good report maketh the bones fat.
31 Kom fin porongo pacl kaiyuk kom uh, kom lalmwetmet.
The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.
32 Kom fin srunga lutlut, kom sifacna akkolukye kom. Kom fin porongo kas in kai nu sum, ac fah yokelik etauk lom.
He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.
33 Sangeng sin LEUM GOD pa inkanek nu ke etauk. Kom enenu in pusisel, na fah akfulatyeyuk kom.
The fear of the LORD [is] the instruction of wisdom: and before honor is humility.
