1 Sie tulik lalmwetmet el lohang nu ke mwe luti lun papa tumal, a sie mwet inse fulat el tia ku in fahkak mu el tafongla.
A wise son [heareth] his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
2 Mwet wo fah eis mwe insewowo ke kas wo lalos, a elos su kutasrik elos suk na in oru ma sulallal.
A man shall eat good by the fruit of [his] mouth: but the soul of the transgressors [shall eat] violence.
3 El su karinganang kas lal el karingin moul lal; a el su kaskas pusla, el sifacna kunausulla.
He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: [but] he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
4 Yohk kena lun sie mwet alsrangesr, a el ac tia ku in eis. Sie mwet alken ac eis ma nukewa ma el lungse.
The soul of the sluggard desireth, and [hath] nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
5 Mwet suwoswos elos srunga kas kikiap, a kas lun mwet koluk uh mwe mwekin ac mwe srungayuk.
A righteous [man] hateth lying: but a wicked [man] is lothsome, and cometh to shame.
6 Moul suwohs mwe molela moul lun mwet su wangin mwata; a orekma koluk mwe kunausla moul lun mwet koluk.
Righteousness keepeth [him that is] upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
7 Kutu mwet uh oru mu elos kasrup, a wangin ma lalos; ac kutu mwet uh oru mu elos sukasrup, a yohk mwe kasrup lalos.
There is that maketh himself rich, yet [hath] nothing: [there is] that maketh himself poor, yet [hath] great riches.
8 Sie mwet kasrup enenu in orekmakin mani lal in molella liki mwet pwapa koluk, a wangin mwet aksangengye sie mwet sukasrup.
The ransom of a man's life [is] his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.
9 Mwet suwoswos uh oana sie kalem saromrom; mwet koluk uh oana sie lam ma apkuran in kunla.
The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be extinguished.
10 Inse fulat uh mwe sramtauk akukuin mukena. Elos su suk kas in kasru pa lalmwetmet.
Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well-advised [is] wisdom.
11 Sie mwet fin eis mwe kasrup ke inkanek fisrasr, ac fah sa na in lisr. Mwet se ma orekma upa in konauk mwe kasrup lal, ac fah oasr ma lal pacl nukewa.
Wealth [gotten] by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labor shall increase.
12 Mwe finsrak lom fin pahtlana, kom ku in maskunak; a fin sun finsrak lom an, kom ac sessesla ke engan.
Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but [when] the desire cometh, [it is] a tree of life.
13 Elos su srangesr eis kas in kasru, ac fah sun mwe ongoiya; elos su eis kas in kasru, elos ac fah moul in misla.
Whoever despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
14 Mwe luti lun mwet lalmwetmet uh, sie unon in moul su ac fah kasrekom in kaingkunla mwe sensen nu ke moul lom.
The law of the wise [is] a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
15 Akfulatyeyuk mwet lalmwetmet, a mwet ma tia ku in lulalfongiyuk fah sun mwe ongoiya.
Good understanding giveth favor: but the way of transgressors [is] hard.
16 Mwet ma oasr nunak la elos nunkala mau in wo meet liki elos oru, a mwet lalfon uh akkalemye na nikin lalos.
Every prudent [man] dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open [his] folly.
17 Sie mwet utuk kas soaru, ac sripauk lokoalok; a sie mwet utuk kas oaru, el orala misla.
A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful embassador [is] health.
18 Sie mwet su srangesr lutlut, el ac sukasrup ac mwekin. Kutena mwet su porongo kas in kai uh, fah akfulatyeyuk.
Poverty and shame [shall be to] him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honored.
19 Fuka woiya pacl se kom eis ma kom kena nu kac! A mwet lalfon uh tia lungse forla liki ma koluk.
The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but [it is] abomination to fools to depart from evil.
20 Kupasr nu sin mwet lalmwetmet, ac kom fah lalmwetmet. Kom fin asruoki nu sin mwet lalfon, kom ac fah sun ongoiya.
He that walketh with wise [men] shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
21 Mwe lokoalok uh ukwe mwet koluk nu yen nukewa, a ma wo uh ac fah itukyang nu sin mwet suwoswos.
Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repaid.
22 Sie mwet wo ac fah akola mwe kasrup lal tuh tulik nutin tulik natul in usrui, a mwe kasrup lun mwet koluk fah som nu sin mwet suwoswos.
A good [man] leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner [is] laid up for the just.
23 Acn ma soenna imaiyuk lukun ku in orala mwe mongo na yohk nu sin mwet sukasrup, tuh mwet sesuwos uh sruokya lukelos in tia imaiyuk.
Much food [is in] the tillage of the poor: but there is [that is] destroyed for want of judgment.
24 Kom fin tia kai tulik nutum, kom tia lungse el. Kom fin lungse el, kom ac kael.
He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
25 Mwet suwoswos elos kihp pacl nukewa, a mwet koluk elos masrinsral.
The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.
