And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,

“Execute the vengeance of the sons of Israel against the Midianites—afterward you are gathered to your people.”
3 Ouinge Moses el fahk nu sin mwet uh, “Akola nu ke mweun, tuh kowos fah ku in tuyak lain mwet Midian ac kalyaelos ke sripen ma elos oru nu sin LEUM GOD.
And Moses speaks to the people, saying, “Arm men from [among] you for the war, and they are against Midian, to put the vengeance of YHWH on Midian;
4 Kowos in supwala kais sie tausin mwet mweun ke kais sie sruf lun Israel.”
one thousand for a tribe—you send one thousand for a tribe, of all the tribes of Israel, to the war.”
5 Ouinge sie tausin mwet solla liki kais sie sruf, orala pisa lulap se ke mwet singoul luo tausin su akola nu ke mweun.
And there are given out of the thousands of Israel one thousand for a tribe—twelve thousand armed ones [for] war;
6 Moses el supwalosla nu ke mweun ye koko lal Phinehas, wen natul Eleazar mwet tol, su us kufwa ke lohm nuknuk mutal ac mwe ukuk in sulkakin pacl in mweun.
and Moses sends them, one thousand for a tribe, to the war; [he sent] them and Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest to the war, with the holy vessels and the trumpets of shouting in his hand.
7 Elos mutawauk mweuni mwet Midian oana LEUM GOD El sapkin nu sel Moses, ac onela mukul nukewa,
And they war against Midian, as YHWH has commanded Moses, and slay every male;
8 weang tokosra limekosr lun Midian inge: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, ac Reba. Elos oayapa unilya Balaam wen natul Beor.
and they have slain the kings of Midian besides their pierced ones: Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba—five kings of Midian; and they have slain Balaam son of Beor with the sword.
9 Mwet Israel elos sruokya mutan Midian ac tulik natulos, oayapa cow ac un sheep ac nani natulos, ac usla ma lalos nukewa.
And the sons of Israel take the women of Midian and their infants captive; and they have plundered all their livestock, and all their substance, and all their wealth;
10 Elos esukak siti nukewa selos, ac nien aktuktuk selos.
and they have burned all their cities, with their habitations, and all their towers, with fire.
11 Elos eis ma wap nukewa, wi mwet sruoh ac kosro uh,
And they take all the spoil and all the prey, among man and among beast;
12 ac use ma inge nu yorol Moses ac Eleazar ac mwet Israel nukewa su muta in nien aktuktuk se in acn mwesis lun Moab, kutulap in Infacl Jordan, tulanang Jericho.
and they bring in the captives, and the prey, and the spoil to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the congregation of the sons of Israel, to the camp, to the plains of Moab, which [are] by the Jordan, [near] Jericho.
13 Moses, Eleazar, ac mwet kol nukewa saya lun mwet Israel elos illa liki nien aktuktuk in osun nu sin mwet mweun.
And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, go out to meet them, to the outside of the camp,
14 Moses el kasrkusrakak sin mwet kol lun un mwet mweun, captain lun tausin ac captain lun foko, su foloko liki mweun uh.
and Moses is angry against the inspectors of the force, chiefs of the thousands, and chiefs of the hundreds, who are coming in from the warfare of battle.
15 El siyuk selos, “Efu kowos ku lela mutan inge nukewa in moul na?
And Moses says to them, “Have you kept every female alive?
16 Esam lah mutan inge pa tuh ukwe na ma Balaam el fahk nu selos, na in acn Peor elos kolla mwet uh in tia pwaye nu sin LEUM GOD. Pa sis mwe lokoalok upa sac tuh sikyak nu sin mwet lun God.
Behold, they have been to the sons of Israel, through the word of Balaam, to cause a trespass against YHWH in the matter of Peor, and the plague is in the congregation of YHWH.
17 Ke ma inge, uniya tulik mukul nukewa, oayapa mutan nukewa su etu mukul tari,
And now, slay every male among the infants, indeed, slay every woman knowing a man by the lying of a male;
18 tusruktu karinganang nu suwos tulik mutan nukewa ac mutan su soenna etu mukul.
and all the infants among the women who have not known the lying of a male you have kept alive for yourselves.
19 Inge kowos nukewa su uniya kutena mwet, ku pusralla kutena mano misa, enenu in muta likin nien aktuktuk uh ke len itkosr. Ke len se aktolu ac len se akitkosr, kowos in aknasnasye kowos sifacna ac mutan ma sruhu ke mweun.
And you, encamp at the outside of the camp [for] seven days; any who has slain a person, and any who has come against a pierced one, cleanse yourselves on the third day and on the seventh day—you and your captives;
20 Kowos oayapa enenu in aknasnasye nuknuk lowos nukewa ac ma nukewa ma orekla ke kulun kosro, unen nani, ku ma orekla ke sak.”
and every garment, and every skin vessel, and every work of goats’ [hair], and every wooden vessel, you yourselves cleanse.”
21 Eleazar mwet tol el fahk nu sin mukul nukewa su foloko liki mweun, “Pa inge ma LEUM GOD El sapkin nu sel Moses:
And Eleazar the priest says to the men of war who go to battle, “This [is] the statute of the law which YHWH has commanded Moses:
22 Gold, silver, bronze, osra, tin, ac lead —
only the gold, and the silver, the bronze, the iron, the tin, and the lead,
23 ma nukewa ma tia motok e, ac fah aknasnasyeyuk in e uh. Tusruktu enenu pac in aknasnasyeyuk ke kof in aknasnas. Ac kutena ma su motok e, ac fah isosyang nu in kof sac.
everything which may go into fire, you cause to pass over through fire, and it has been clean; it is surely cleansed with the water of separation; and all that may not go into fire, you cause to pass over through water;
24 Ke len se akitkosr kowos fah ohlla nuknuk lowos, na kowos fah nasnasla, ac kowos fah ku in ilyak nu in nien aktuktuk.”
and you have washed your garments on the seventh day and have been clean, and afterward you come into the camp.”
25 LEUM GOD El fahk nu sel Moses,
And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
26 “Kom ac Eleazar, wi mwet kol saya lun mwet Israel, in oakla ma nukewa ma utuku ke mweun, wi mwet sruoh ac un kosro.
“Take up the sum of the prey of the captives, among man and among beast, you, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers of the congregation;
27 Kitalik ma utukeni nu ke ip luo, na sang tafu lun mwet mweun, ac tafu lun mwet Israel ngia.
and you have halved the prey between those handling the battle, who go out to the war, and all the congregation;
28 Ke ip lun mwet mweun an, kom fah srela sie liki inmasrlon kais lumfoko nukewa tuh in mwe takma nu sin LEUM GOD— ke mwet sruoh, ac ke un cow, donkey, sheep ac nani.
and you have raised a tribute to YHWH from the men of battle, who go out to the war, one body out of five hundred, of man, and of the herd, and of the donkeys, and of the flock;
29 Sang ma ingan nu sel Eleazar mwet tol, tuh in sie mwe sang mutal nu sin LEUM GOD.
you take from their half and have given [it] to Eleazar the priest [as] a raised-offering of YHWH.
30 Ke ip lun mwet nukewa saya, kom fah srela sie liki kais lumngaul nukewa ke mwet sruoh, ac oru oapana nu ke un cow, donkey, sheep, ac nani. Sang ma inge nu sin mwet Levi su liyaung Lohm Nuknuk Mutal sin LEUM GOD.”
And from the sons of Israel’s half you take one possession out of fifty, of man, of the herd, of the donkeys, and of the flock, of all the livestock, and you have given them to the Levites keeping the charge of the Dwelling Place of YHWH.”
31 Moses ac Eleazar oru oana ma LEUM GOD El sapkin.
And Moses does—Eleazar the priest also—as YHWH has commanded Moses.
32 Pisen ma wap nukewa ma un mwet mweun uh sruokya oasr ke onfoko itngoul limekosr tausin sheep ac nani,
And the prey, the remainder of the spoil which the people of the host have spoiled, is six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand of the flock;
33 itngoul luo tausin cow,
and seventy-two thousand of the herd;
34 onngoul sie tausin donkey,
and sixty-one thousand donkeys;
35 ac tolngoul luo tausin mutan su tia etu mukul.
and of mankind—of the women who have not known the lying of a male—all the persons [are] thirty-two thousand.
36 Ip lun mwet mweun uh, oasr ke tolfoko tolngoul itkosr tausin lumfoko sheep ac nani,
And the half, the portion of those who go out into the war, is [in] number three hundred thousand and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred of the flock.
37 ac ip kac ma itukyang nu sin LEUM GOD oasr ke onfoko itngoul limekosr sheep ac nani.
And the tribute to YHWH of the sheep is six hundred seventy-five;
38 Pisen cow uh oasr ke tausin tolngoul onkosr, ac ip lun LEUM GOD kac oasr ke itngoul luo.
and the herd [is] thirty-six thousand, and their tribute to YHWH [is] seventy-two;
39 Pisen donkey uh oasr ke tolngoul tausin lumfoko, ac ip lun LEUM GOD kac oasr onngoul soko.
and the donkeys [are] thirty thousand and five hundred, and their tribute to YHWH [is] sixty-one;
40 Pisen mutan fusr uh oasr ke tausin singoul onkosr, ac ip lun LEUM GOD kac uh pa mutan tolngoul luo.
and of mankind [are] sixteen thousand, and their tribute to YHWH [is] thirty-two persons.
41 Moses el sang nu sel Eleazar takma inge, su sie mwe sang mutal nu sin LEUM GOD, oana ke LEUM GOD El sapkin.
And Moses gives the tribute—YHWH’s raised-offering—to Eleazar the priest, as YHWH has commanded Moses.
42 Ac ip se lun mwet Israel, ma Moses el srela liki ma lun un mwet mweun uh,
And of the sons of Israel’s half, which Moses halved from the men who war—
43 oasr tolfoko tolngoul itkosr tausin lumfoko sheep ac nani,
and the congregation’s half is three hundred thousand and thirty thousand [and] seven thousand and five hundred of the flock;
44 tolngoul onkosr tausin cow,
and thirty-six thousand of the herd;
45 tolngoul tausin lumfoko donkey,
and thirty thousand and five hundred donkeys;
46 ac singoul onkosr tausin mutan fusr.
and sixteen thousand of mankind—
47 Liki ip lun mwet Israel, Moses el eisla kais sie liki lumngaul nukewa, ke mwet sruoh ac ke kosro uh, ac el sang ma inge nu sin mwet Levi su karingin Lohm Nuknuk Mutal sin LEUM GOD, oana LEUM GOD El sapkin.
Moses takes from the sons of Israel’s half one possession from the fifty, of man and of beast, and gives them to the Levites keeping the charge of the Dwelling Place of YHWH, as YHWH has commanded Moses.
48 Toko mwet kol su karingin un mwet mweun elos som nu yorol Moses
And the inspectors whom the thousands of the host have (heads of the thousands and heads of the hundreds), draw near to Moses,
49 ac fahk, “Leum se, kut oakla mwet mweun lasr, ac wangin sie selos tuhlac.
and they say to Moses, “Your servants have taken up the sum of the men of war who [are] with us, and not a man of us has been missed;
50 Ke ma inge kut use mwe yun gold, mwe lohlpo, sein gold, ring, yaring, ah in walwal, ma kais sie sesr sifani. Kut sang ma inge nu sin LEUM GOD tuh in mwe srui lasr ke El molikutla.”
and we bring YHWH’s offering near, each of that which he has found of vessels of gold—chain, and bracelet, seal-ring, [ear]-ring, and bead—to make atonement for ourselves before YHWH.”
51 Moses ac Eleazar eis mwe naweyuk inge nukewa ma orekla ke gold.
And Moses receives—Eleazar the priest also—the gold from them, every vessel of workmanship;
52 Toasriyen ma inge nukewa ma mwetkol lun mwet mweun orani, alukela paun angfoko.
and all the gold of the raised-offering which they have lifted up to YHWH is sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels, from heads of the thousands and from heads of the hundreds;
53 Elos su tia oaoa in mwet kol lun mwet mweun elos sruokya na ma wap lalos uh.
(the men of the host have each taken spoil for himself);
54 Ouinge Moses ac Eleazar usla gold uh nu in Lohm Nuknuk Mutal, tuh LEUM GOD Elan loango mwet Israel.
and Moses takes—Eleazar the priest also—the gold from the heads of the thousands and of the hundreds, and they bring it into the Tent of Meeting [as] a memorial for the sons of Israel before YHWH.
