< Nahum 2 >

1 Nineveh, ac mweuniyuk kom pa nge! Ku se ma ac ipsrikikomi tuku tari. Akoela mwet loang lom an! Taran inkanek an! Akola in mweun! (
Nineveh! The destroyer has come up against you; mount guard upon the rampart; watch the road; brace yourselves; strengthen your might to the utmost.
2 LEUM GOD El akola in folokonak ku ac wolana lun Israel, in oana woiyen acn we meet liki mwet lokoalok elos kunausla.)
For the Lord is restoring the majesty of Jacob and of Israel, though the devastators have plundered them and destroyed their vines.
3 Mwet lokoalok elos us mwe loeyuk srusra, Ac nukum nuknuk in mweun srusra. Elos akola in mweun! Chariot natulos sarmelik oana e uh! Horse natulos rarala in tari kasrusr!
The shields of his warriors are dyed red, his soldiers are clothed in scarlet, his chariots gleam like fire on the day he prepares for battle spears are shaken.
4 Chariot uh kasrla fin inkanek uh, Sasot sasma in acn mwesas infulwen siti uh. Elos kalmelik oana srokom in e, Ac yuwot yume oana sarom.
Chariots rush across the fields, storm through the squares; they flame like torches, they dart like lightening.
5 Leum lun mwet mweun uh solsoleni. Ingyak lalos uh oru elos tukulkul. Mwet lokoalok uh kasryak nu ke kalkal uh, Ac akoela acn in sunya sak in kunausla mutunpot an.
A leader rallies his nobles, they hurl themselves forward. They speed on toward the wall; the storming-shield is set up.
6 Mutunpot nu sisken infacl uh mulipwelik ikakla; Ac mwet inkul sin tokosra arulana tuninfongla.
The water-gates are thrown open, and the palace dissolves in ruins.
7 Kasra el sruhu utukla. Mwet kulansap lal elos sasao oana wuleoa Ac puok iniwalos ke asor.
The queen is stripped, she is carried off. Her maids moan like doves, beating upon their breasts.
8 Mwet uh kaingelik liki acn Nineveh, Oana kof ma pisrelik liki dam fokelik se, Pusra lulap se wowoyak ac fahk, “Tui! Tui!” Tusruktu wangin mwet folokla.
Like a pool of water is Nineveh, her waters fast ebbing away. “Stand firm! Stand firm!” someone cries, but no one turns back.
9 Srukak kewa silver ac gold an! Siti uh sessesla Ke kain in mwe kasrup puspis!
“Loot the silver, loot the gold, for there is no end to the treasure, the wealth and precious things.”
10 Acn Nineveh kunanula, mwet uh kaingelik, ac wangin ma lula we! Insialos kofelik ke sangeng, Intwelos rarrar, mutalos efla, Ac wanginla ku lalos.
Nineveh is empty, desolate, devastated, with faint heart and knocking knee. There is weakness in every limb, and faces grow pale.
11 Pia siti se Ma tuh oana luf in lion ah in pacl inge? Acn ma lion fusr uh tuh tohfla we, Yen lion mukul ac lion mutan uh fahsri, Ac lion fusr natultal mutana in misla?
Where now is the den of lions? Where now the lair of their young? Where the lion used to withdraw, with his cubs, with none to disturb them?
12 Lion mukul uh ac uniya ma el sruokya nal, Ac eiya in ip srisrik nu sin lion mutan ac lion fusr natul. El nwakla luf sel ke ipin ikwa ma eiyuki.
The lion tore enough for his cubs, and strangled prey for his lionesses. He filled his caves with the kill, he filled his lairs with fresh meat.
13 LEUM GOD Kulana El fahk, “Nga mwet lokoalok lowos! Nga ac esukak chariot nutuwos an. Mwet mweun lowos ac fah anwuki ke mweun, ac nga fah usla ma nukewa kowos tuh eisla sin mwet saya. Sap ku su mwet utuk kas lowos tuh tafwekowos in fahkak ac fah tia sifil lohngyuk.”
“But see, I am against you,” the Lord of hosts declares, “I will burn your chariots in smoke and fire. The sword will devour your young lions. You will never again prey on the land. No more will your messengers be heard.”
