< Matthew 15 >

1 Na kutu mwet Pharisee ac mwet luti Ma Sap elos tuku liki acn Jerusalem ac siyuk sin Jesus,
Then they come to Jesus from Jerusalem—scribes and Pharisees—saying,
2 “Efu ku mwet tuma lutlut lom elos tia akos mwe luti ma ituku nu sesr sin mwet matu lasr oemeet me uh? Elos tiana akfalye ma oakwuki ke ouiyen aknasnasye paolos meet liki elos mongo!”
“Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they may eat bread.”
3 Na Jesus el topuk ac fahk, “Ac efu ku kowos tia akos ma sap lun God, a kowos fahsr na ke mwe luti lowos sifacna?
And He answering said to them, “Why also do you transgress the command of God because of your tradition?
4 Tuh God El fahk mu, ‘Sunakin papa tomom ac nina kiom,’ ac ‘Kutena mwet su selngawi papa tumal ku nina kial ac fah anwuki.’
For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother; and, He who is speaking evil of father or mother—let him die the death;
5 A kowos luti ac fahk mu fin oasr kutena ma yurin sie mwet ma el ku in sang kasru papa tumal ku nina kial, a el fahk mu, ‘Ma se inge ma lun God,’
but you say, Whoever may say to father or mother, An offering [is] whatever you may be profited by me—
6 na el tia enenu in sunakin papa tumal. Ke kowos oru ouinge kowos tia akos ma God El sapkin, tuh kowos in oru na mwe luti lowos sifacna.
and he may not honor his father or his mother, and you set aside the command of God because of your tradition.
7 Kowos mwet wosounkas! Arulana pwaye ke Isaiah el tuh palye keiwos fahk mu,
Hypocrites, Isaiah prophesied well of you, saying,
8 ‘Mwet inge sunakinyu na ke oalulos, A insialos loes likiyu.
This people draws near to Me with their mouth, and with the lips it honors Me, but their heart is far off from Me;
9 Wangin sripen alu lalos nu sik, Mweyen elos luti mwet uh ke ma sap ma elos sifacna orala, oana in ma sap luk!’”
and in vain they worship Me, teaching teachings—commands of men.”
And having called near the multitude, He said to them, “Hear and understand:
11 Tia ma su utyak nu in oalin sie mwet pa akfohkfokye moul lal uh, a ma su illa liki oalul pa akfohkfokyal uh.”
[it is] not that which is coming into the mouth [that] defiles the man, but that which is coming forth from the mouth, this defiles the man.”
12 Na mwet tumal lutlut elos tuku nu yorol ac fahk, “Ku kom etu lah mwet Pharisee elos toasrla ke ma kom fahk ah?”
Then His disciples having come near, said to Him, “Have You known that the Pharisees, having heard the word, were stumbled?”
And He answering said, “Every plant that My heavenly Father did not plant will be rooted up;
14 Nimet elya selos!
leave them alone, they are guides—blind of blind; and if blind may guide blind, both will fall into a ditch.”
And Peter answering said to Him, “Explain to us this allegory.”
16 Na Jesus el fahk nu selos, “Ya kowos srakna oana mwet saya uh, soenna kalem?
And Jesus said, “Are you also yet without understanding?
17 Ya kowos tia etu? Kutena ma su utyak nu in oalin sie mwet ac fah som nu in sial, ac illa liki manol.
Do you not understand that all that is going into the mouth passes into the belly, and is cast forth into the drain?
18 A ma su illa liki oalin sie mwet, ma inge tuku liki nunak lun insial, ac ma inge pa akfohkfokye moul lun sie mwet.
But the things coming forth from the mouth come forth from the heart, and these defile the man;
19 Mweyen nunak koluk uh tuku liki insial me, ac kolol in orek akmas, kosro, ac oru kutepacna lumah koluk saya uh; in pusr, kikiap, ac kaskas koluk lain mwet.
for out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, whoredoms, thefts, false witnessings, slanders:
20 Pa inge ma su akfohkfokye sie mwet. A in tia ohlla pao meet liki mongo, oana lumah ma elos fahk kowos in oru — ma inge tia akfohkfokye moul lun mwet.”
these are the things defiling the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man.”
And Jesus having come forth from there, withdrew to the parts of Tyre and Sidon,
22 Sie mutan Canaan su muta in acn sac tuku nu yorol, ac wowoyak ac fahk, “Wen nutin David, nunak munas, pakoten nu sik. Oasr musen demon in acn se nutik, ac el arulana keok kac.”
and behold, a woman, a Canaanite, having come forth from those borders, called to Him, saying, “Deal kindly with me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is miserably demonized.”
23 Tusruktu wanginna ma Jesus el fahk nu sel. A mwet tumal lutlut elos kwafe nu sel ac fahk, “Supwalla! El fahsr tokosr ac arulana wowon!”
And He did not answer her a word; and His disciples having come to Him, were asking Him, saying, “Let her away, because she cries after us”;
and He answering said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
25 A mutan sac tuku ac putati nu ke nial ac fahk, “Leum, kasreyu!”
And having come, she was worshiping Him, saying, “Lord, help me”;
26 Ac Jesus el fahk, “Tia fal in eis mongo nun tulik ac sisla nu sin kosro ngalngul.”
and He answering said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread, and to cast to the little dogs.”
27 Na mutan sac fahk, “Aok, pwaye Leum, tusruktu finne kosro ngalngul uh, elos kang pac kutkut in mongo ma putatla liki tepu lun leum lalos uh.”
And she said, “Yes, Lord, for even the little dogs eat of the crumbs that are falling from their lords’ table”;
Enenu lom an ac fah orek nu sum oana siyuk lom an.”
then answering, Jesus said to her, “O woman, great [is] your faith, let it be to you as you will”; and her daughter was healed from that hour.
And having departed from there, Jesus came near to the Sea of Galilee, and having gone up to the mountain, He was sitting there,
30 Un mwet puspis tuku nu yorol, ac elos us mwet ul, mwet kun, mwet sukapas, mwet tia ku in kaskas, ac mwet mas puspis saya, ac filiya yurin Jesus; ac el akkeyalosla.
and there came to Him great multitudes, having with them lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they cast them at the feet of Jesus, and He healed them,
31 Mwet uh arulana fwefela ke elos liye mwet nikin kas elos kaskas, mwet sukapas elos kwela, mwet ul elos fahsr, ac mwet kun elos liye. Ouinge elos kaksakin God lun Israel.
so that the multitudes wondered, seeing mute ones speaking, maimed whole, lame walking, and blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 Jesus el pangonma mwet tumal lutlut ac fahk, “Nga pakomuta mwet inge, mweyen elos wiyu len tolu lah ac inge wangin ma elos in kang. Nga tia lungse supwalosla ac tia kitalosi, mweyen elos ac ku in mulalla inkanek uh.”
And Jesus having called near His disciples, said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because now three days they continue with Me, and they do not have what they may eat; and to let them away fasting I will not, lest they faint in the way.”
And His disciples say to Him, “From where to us in a wilderness [will we get] so many loaves, as to fill so great a multitude?”
34 Na Jesus el siyuk selos, “Bread ekasr oasr yuruwos?” Elos fahk, “Lof itkosr, ac ik srisrik ekasr.”
And Jesus says to them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven, and a few little fishes.”
35 Na Jesus el sap mwet uh in muta fin fohk uh.
And He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the ground,
and having taken the seven loaves and the fishes, having given thanks, He broke, and gave to His disciples, and the disciples [gave] to the multitude.
37 Mwet nukewa mongo nwe kihpi na. Na mwet tumal lutlut elos orani fotoh itkosr ke luwen mongo uh.
And they all ate, and were filled, and they took up what was over of the broken pieces seven baskets full,
38 Pisen mwet ma mongo uh oasr ke tausin akosr mukul, sayen mutan ac tulik.
and those eating were four thousand men, apart from women and children.
And having let away the multitudes, He went into the boat, and came to the borders of Magdala.
