< Luke 2 >

1 In pacl sac Tokosra Fulat Augustus el sapkin sie oaoa lulap in orek in acn nukewa ma oan ye nununku lun acn Rome.
Now it happened in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole inhabited world should be enrolled.

This first census took place while Quirinius was governing Syria.
3 Ouinge mwet nukewa elos som, kais sie nu in acn sel sifacna, in simla inel we.
So everyone was traveling, each to his own town, to enroll himself.
4 Joseph el som liki siti srisrik Nazareth in acn Galilee nu in siti srisrik Bethlehem in acn Judea, acn ma Tokosra David el isusla we. Joseph el tuh som nu we mweyen el ma in sruf lal David.
So Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of Natsareth town, into Judea to the city of David, that is called Bethlehem, because he was of David's ‘house’, that is, line of descent,
5 Ke sripen el akoo in payukyak sel Mary, oru eltal tukeni som in tuh simla inelos. Mary el pitutu,
to enroll himself with Mary, the woman who had been betrothed to him, who was pregnant.

So it happened that when they got there the days for her to give birth were completed;
7 El oswela wounse mukul natul, nokmulla ke ipin nuknuk, ac fililya in nien mongo lun kosro — mweyen wangin acn elos in muta we ke lohm in mongla lun mwet fahsr.
and she gave birth to her firstborn Son, wrapped Him in pieces of cloth and laid Him in the manger, because there was no room for them in the lodging place.
8 Oasr kutu mwet shepherd in acn sac, su muta inima uh ke fong sac in karingin un sheep natulos.
Now there were shepherds in that same area, staying out in the field and keeping the nightly watches over their flock.
9 Sie lipufan lun Leum sikyang nu selos, ac wolana lun Leum kalmelik ac tololosyak. Elos arulana sangengla kac.
When wow, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

The angel said to them: “Do not be afraid because listen, I am announcing the most joyful news to you, which will be to all the people!
11 Tuh isusla nu suwos misenge in siti sel David, sie Mwet Lango, su Leum Christ!
You see, today, in David's city, a Savior was born to you, who is Lord Christ!
12 Pa inge mwe akpwaye nu suwos uh: kowos ac fah konauk tulik fusr se pipla ke ipin nuknuk, ac oan in nien mongo lun kosro.”
And this is the sign to you: you will find a Baby wrapped in pieces of cloth, lying in a manger.”
13 In kitin pacl ah na, oasr sie u lulap ke lipufan inkusrao sikyang wi lipufan sac; elos on ac kaksakin God:
Suddenly a multitude of the heavenly army was with the angel praising God and saying,
14 “Wolana nu sin God in fulatlana, Ac misla fin faclu nu sin mwet su El insewowo kaclos!”
“Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward mankind!”
15 Ke lipufan uh som lukelos nu inkusrao, mwet shepherd elos fahk nu sin sie sin sie, “Kut som nu Bethlehem ac liye ma se sikyak inge, su God El fahkak nu sesr kac.”
So when the angels went away from them into the sky the men, the shepherds, said to one another, “Hey, let's go to Bethlehem and see this event that has taken place, that the Lord made known to us!”
16 Ouinge elos sulaklak som ac konalak Mary ac Joseph, ac liye tulik fusr sac oan in nien mongo lun kosro.
So they went in a hurry and located both Mary and Joseph, and the Baby lying in the manger.
17 Ke mwet shepherd uh liyal, elos srumun kas ma lipufan sac fahk nu selos ke tulik sac.
And having seen they spread an exact account of the saying that had been spoken to them concerning this Child.
18 Mwet nukewa ma lohng ah elos arulana fwefela ke kas lun mwet shepherd ah.
All who heard marveled at the things told them by the shepherds.
19 A Mary el esam ma inge nukewa, ac el arulana nunku yohk kac.
As for Mary, she treasured all these sayings, pondering them in her heart.
20 Mwet shepherd elos folokla, ac yuk on in kaksakin God ke ma nukewa elos lohng ac liye. Ma nukewa sikyak oana ke lipufan sac fahk nu selos ah.
The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God over all that they had heard and seen, just as it was told them.
21 Tukun len oalkosr, ke sun pacl fal nu sin tulik sac in kosreyukla, itukyang inel Jesus — ine se ma lipufan sac tuh sang nu sel meet liki tulik sac srimetak insien nina kial ah.
When eight days were completed so as to circumcise Him, His name was indeed called JESUS, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.
22 Sun pacl fal in oru alu in aknasnas, oana ma simla in Ma Sap lal Moses. Ke ma inge Joseph ac Mary eltal usla tulik sac nu Jerusalem in eisalang nu sin Leum God,
And when the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they took Him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord
23 oana ke simla in Ma Sap lun Leum God, fahk mu: “Wounse mukul nukewa enenu in kisakinyukyang nu sin Leum God.”
(just as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every male who opens a womb shall be called holy to the Lord”),

and to offer a sacrifice according to what was specified in the Lord's Law, “a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons”.
25 In pacl sac oasr mukul se muta in Jerusalem pangpang Simeon. El sie mwet suwoswos su arulana akfulatye God in moul lal, ac el soano moliyukla lun Israel. Ngun Mutal welul,
Well now, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; this man was righteous and devout, expectantly waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and Holy Spirit was upon him.
26 ac akkalemyeang nu sel mu el ac fah tiana misa nwe ke na el liye Messiah, su Leum God El wulela kac.
(It had been revealed to him repeatedly by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death until he saw the Lord's Messiah.)
27 Ngun Mutal el kololla Simeon nu in Tempul. Ke papa ac nina kien tulik Jesus usalak nu in Tempul in oru oana ma oakwuk lun Ma Sap,
So by the Spirit he came into the temple; and when the parents brought the Child Jesus in, to do concerning Him according to the custom of the law,
28 Simeon el eis tulik sac, kafsalak inpaol, ac kaksakin God ac fahk:
Simeon took Him into his arms and blessed God and said:
29 “Leum God, wulela lom akpwayeyuk. Inge kom ku in fuhlela mwet kulansap lom in som in misla.

a light for revelation to Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel.”
33 Papa ac nina kien tulik sac arulana lut ke ma Simeon el fahk kacl.
And Joseph and His mother were marveling at the things being spoken concerning Him.

Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother: “Listen, this One is appointed to bring about the fall and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that is spoken against,
35 ac ma inge ac fah fahkak nunak lukma su oan in elos. Ac kom ac fah arulana asor, oana ke sie cutlass kosroh fakisya in ngunum.”
so that the reasonings of many hearts may be revealed (furthermore, a sword will pass through your own soul also).”
36 In pacl sac tuh oasr pac mutan palu se, inel pa Anna, acn natul Phanuel sin sruf lal Asher. El arulana matuoh. El tuh payuk ke el mutan fusr ac muta yurin mukul tumal ah yac itkosr,
Also there was a prophetess Anna, a daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher—she was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity

and having been a widow for about eighty-four years—who did not depart from the temple, serving God with fastings and petitions night and day.
38 In pacl sacna el kalukyang nu yoroltal ac sang kulo nu sin God, na el kaskas ke tulik sac nu sin mwet nukewa su tupan molela lun God nu sin Jerusalem.
Well she, having come up at that very moment, started praising the Lord, and kept on speaking of Him to all those in Jerusalem who were looking for redemption.
39 Ke Joseph ac Mary eltal akfalyela ma nukewa ma oakwuki ke Ma Sap lun Leum God, na eltal folokla nu Galilee, nu in acn seltal Nazareth.
When they had completed everything, according to the law of the Lord, they went back to Galilee, to their own town, Natsareth.
40 Tulik sac kapak ac kui ac el sesseslana ke lalmwetmet, ac lungkulang lun God oan facl.
And the Child kept growing and being strengthened in spirit, being filled with wisdom; yes, the grace of God was upon Him.
41 In yac nukewa, papa ac nina kial Jesus eltal ac som nu Jerusalem in wi Kufwen Alukela.
Now every year His parents would go to Jerusalem to the feast of the Passover;
42 Ke Jesus el sun yac singoul luo matwal, eltal som pac nu ke kufwa uh oapana pacl nukewa.
so when He was twelve years old they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast.
43 Ke safla kufwa uh, eltal mutawauk in folok nu yen seltal, tusruk Jesus el mutana Jerusalem tia welultal. Papa ac nina kial tiana etu lah ouinge.
When they had fulfilled the days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but Joseph and His mother did not know it.
44 Eltal nunku mu el oasr na inmasrlon un mwet uh, oru eltal fahsr len fon se, na eltal fah mutawauk in sokol inmasrlon sou ac mwet kawuk lalos.
Supposing Him to be in the caravan, they went a day's journey and then started looking for Him among their relatives and acquaintances.
45 Eltal tiana konalak, na eltal sifil folokla nwe Jerusalem in sokol.
Not finding Him, they returned to Jerusalem seeking Him.
46 Ke len se aktolu, eltal konalak in Tempul uh. El muta inmasrlon mwet luti in lohngolos ac kusen siyuk selos.
So it happened that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.
47 Mwet nukewa su lohngol elos arulana fwefela ke top lalmwetmet lal.
(All who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.)
48 Papa ac nina kial eltal arulana lut ke eltal liyalak, ac nina kial el fahk nu sel, “Wen, efu kom ku oru ouinge nu sesr? Nga ac papa tomom ah arulana fosrngala ke sukyom.”
So upon seeing Him they were amazed, and His mother said to Him: “Son, why have you treated us like this? Look, your father and I have been searching for you in distress.”
49 Ac el topuk ac fahk, “Efu ku komtal sukyu? Ya komtal tia etu tuh fal nga in muta in lohm sin Papa tumuk?”
So He said to them: “Why were you seeking me? Didn't you know that I must be about my Father's concerns?”
50 Tusruktu eltal tiana kalem ke top lal ah.
But they did not understand the statement that He made to them.
51 Na Jesus el welultal folokla nu Nazareth, yen ma el aksoltal we. Nina kial el esam ma inge nukewa ac filiya in oanna in nunak lal.
Then He went down with them and came to Natsareth, and continued subordinating Himself to them; His mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 Ac Jesus el kapkapak in lalmwetmet ac in lumahl, ac el arulana ohi yurin God ac yurin mwet uh.
And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
