< Luke 1 >
1 Nu sum, Theophilus, su fal in akfulatyeyuk: Pus mwet ma arulana oaru in orani ac simusla ma su sikyak inmasrlosr.
Seeing that many have attempted to draw up a narrative of the facts which are received with full assurance among us
2 Elos simusla ma su fwackme nu sesr sin mwet ma sifacna liye ma inge ac sulkakinelik ke tufahna mutawauk me.
on the authority of those who were from the beginning eye-witnesses and were devoted to the service of the divine Message,
3 Ke ma inge, leum fulat luk, ke sripen nga liksreni na lohang in lutlut ke ma inge ke mutawauk me, nga sifacna nunku mu ac wona ngan takunla nu sum ma sikyak uh.
it has seemed right to me also, after careful investigation of the facts from their commencement, to write for you, most noble Theophilus, a connected account,
4 Nga oru ma inge kom in mau etu na pwaye ke ma nukewa ma lutiyuk kom kac.
that you may fully know the truth of the things which you have been taught by word of mouth.
5 In pacl se ma Herod el tuh tokosra in acn Judea, tuh oasr mwet tol se pangpang Zechariah, su ma in u lal Abijah, mwet tol. Mutan kial ah pa Elizabeth, su ma in fwilin tulik natul Aaron, mwet tol.
There was in the time of Herod, the king of Judaea, a priest of the name of Zechariah, belonging to the class of Abijah. He had a wife who was a descendant of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.
6 Eltal kewa moulkin moul na suwohs ye mutun God, ac arulana oaru in akos ma sap ac oakwuk nukewa lun Leum God.
They were both of them upright before God, blamelessly obeying all the Lord's precepts and ordinances.
7 Wangin tulik natultal, mweyen Elizabeth el tia ku in orek tulik, ac el ac Zechariah tukenina matuoh.
But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren; and both of them were far advanced in life.
8 Sie len ah Zechariah el oru orekma in tol lal ke sun pacl lun u lal in kulansap in Tempul.
Now while he was doing priestly duty before God in the prescribed course of his class,
9 In oana oakwuk nu sin mwet tol uh, srisrngiyuki ke fa mu ac ma kunal in akosak mwe keng fin loang uh. Ouinge el utyak nu in Tempul lun Leum God,
it fell to his lot--according to the custom of the priesthood--to go into the Sanctuary of the Lord and burn the incense;
10 ac mwet puspis elos pre likinum uh ke ao in kisa mwe keng uh.
and the whole multitude of the people were outside praying, at the hour of incense.
11 Sie lipufan lun Leum God sikyang nu sel, ac tu layen layot ke loang uh, yen mwe keng uh akokyak we.
Then there appeared to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense;
12 Ke Zechariah el liyalak el arulana lut ac sangengla.
and Zechariah on seeing him was agitated and terrified.
13 Na lipufan sac fahk nu sel, “Zechariah, nimet sangeng. God El lohng pre lom. Elizabeth, mutan kiom, el ac fah oswela sie wen nutum. Kom ac fah sang inel John.
But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your petition has been heard: and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call his name John.
14 Kom ac fah arulana engan, ac mwet puspis ac fah wi pac engan ke el ac isusla.
Gladness and exultant joy shall be yours, and many will rejoice over his birth.
15 El ac fah sie mwet saok ye mutun Leum God. El ac fah tia nim wain, ku kutena mwe nim ku. El ac fah sesseslana ke Ngun Mutal, mutawauk ke el isusla me,
For he will be great in the sight of the Lord; no wine or fermented drink shall he ever drink; but he will be filled with the Holy Spirit from the very hour of his birth.
16 ac el ac fah forokla mwet puspis sin mwet Israel nu sin Leum God lalos.
Many of the descendants of Israel will he turn to the Lord their God;
17 El ac fah fahsr meet liki Leum God, ke ngunin ku lal Elijah, mwet palu. El ac fah akwoyela inmasrlon papa ac tulik uh; el ac fah oru tuh mwet seakos in sifil nunak oana mwet suwoswos; el ac fah oru tuh mwet lun Leum God in akola nu sel.”
and he will be His forerunner in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn fathers' hearts to the children, and cause the rebellious to walk in the wisdom of the upright, to make a people perfectly ready for the lord."
18 Na Zechariah el fahk nu sin lipufan sac, “Nga ac etu fuka lah ac ouingan? Nga matuoh, ac mutan kiuk uh matuoh pac.”
"By what proof," asked Zechariah, "shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is far advanced in years."
19 Na lipufan sac fahk, “Nga pa Gabriel. Nga tu ye mutun God, su supweyume in tuh kaskas nu sum, ac fahkot pweng wo se inge nu sum.
"I am Gabriel, who stand in the presence of God," answered the angel, "and I have been sent to talk with you and tell you this good news.
20 Tusruktu kom tia lulalfongi kas luk, su ac fah akpwayeiyuk in pacl fal. Ke sripen selulalfongi lom, kom ac fah tia ku in sramsram. Kom ac mutana tia kaskas nwe ke na akpwayeiyuk ma nga fahk nu sum inge.”
And now you will be dumb and unable to speak until the day when this has taken place; because you did not believe my words--words which will be fulfilled at their appointed time."
21 In pacl se inge, mwet uh mutana soanel Zechariah, ac suk lah efu ku el utyak arulana pahtlac in Tempul.
Meanwhile the people were waiting for Zechariah, and were surprised that he stayed so long in the Sanctuary.
22 Ke el oatula, el tia ku in kaskas nu selos, ouinge elos akilen mu el liye sie aruruma in Tempul. Ke el tia ku in kaskas nu selos, el orekmakin na paol ac srisrsrisr nu selos.
When, however, he came out, he was unable to speak to them; and they knew that he must have seen a vision in the Sanctuary; but he kept making signs to them and continued dumb.
23 Ke safla pacl in kulansap lal Zechariah in Tempul uh, el folokla nu lohm sel ah.
When his days of service were at an end, he went to his home;
24 Tia paht toko, Elizabeth, mutan kial, el pitutuyak ac tiana illa liki lohm sel ke malem limekosr.
and in course of time his wife Elizabeth conceived, and kept herself secluded five months.
25 Ac el fahk, “Inge nga etu tuh Leum God El kasreyu. El eisla mwekin luk likiyu ye mutun mwet uh.”
"Thus has the Lord dealt with me," she said, "now that He has graciously taken away my reproach among men."
26 Ke Elizabeth el pitutu malem onkosr, God El supwalla lipufan Gabriel nu in siti srisrik se in acn Galilee pangpang Nazareth.
Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth,
27 Oasr sap soko el us nu sin sie mutan fusr virgin, su ako in payuk nu sin mukul se pangpang Joseph, su ma in fwilin tulik natul Tokosra David. Inen mutan fusr sac pa Mary.
to a maiden betrothed to a man of the name of Joseph, a descendant of David. The maiden's name was Mary.
28 Lipufan sac tuku nu yorol ac fahk, “Paing kom! Leum God El wi kom, ac El arulana akinsewowoye kom!”
So Gabriel went into the house and said to her, "Joy be to you, favoured one! the Lord is with you."
29 Mary el arulana fohsak ke kas lun lipufan sac, ac el suk na lah mea kalmen ma el fahk uh.
She was greatly agitated at his words, and wondered what such a greeting meant.
30 Na lipufan sac fahk nu sel, “Mary, nikmet sangeng, tuh kom ohi yurin God.
But the angel said, "Do not be frightened, Mary, for you have found favour with God.
31 Kom ac fah pitutuyak ac oswela sie wen, ac kom fah sang inel Jesus.
You will conceive in your womb and bear a son; and you are to call His name JESUS.
32 El ac fah arulana fulat — ac fah pangpang el Wen nutin God Fulatlana. Leum God El ac fah oru tuh elan sie tokosra oana David, papa matu tumal,
He will be great and He will be called 'Son of the Most High.' And the Lord God will give Him the throne of His forefather David;
33 ac el ac fah leum fin fwilin tulik natul Jacob nwe tok. Tokosrai lal ac fah wangin saflaiya!” (aiōn )
and He will be King over the House of Jacob for the Ages, and of His Kingdom there will be no end." (aiōn )
34 Na Mary el fahk nu sin lipufan sac, “Ma inge ac sikyak fuka, ke nga soenna etu mwet?”
"How can this be," Mary replied, "seeing that I have no husband?"
35 Ac lipufan sac topuk ac fahk, “Ngun Mutal ac fah tuku nu fom, ac ku lun God ac fah oan fom. Ke sripa se inge, wen mutal se inge ac fah pangpang Wen nutin God.
The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for this reason your holy offspring will be called 'the Son of God.'
36 Esamul Elizabeth, sie nina in sou lom an. Tuh fwack mu el tia ku in isus, a inge el pitutu malem onkosr lac, el finne arulana matuoh.
And see, your relative Elizabeth--she also has conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.
37 Mweyen wangin ma God El kofla in oru.”
For no promise from God will be impossible of fulfilment."
38 Na Mary el fahk, “Nga mwet kulansap lun Leum God. Lela ma inge in orek nu sik oana ke kom fahk.” Na lipufan sac som lukel.
"I am the Lord's maidservant," Mary replied; "may it be with me in accordance with your words!" And then the angel left her.
39 Tiana paht tukun ma inge, Mary el akola ac sulaklak na som nu in sie siti srisrik inmasrlon eol in acn Judea.
Not long after this, Mary rose up and went in haste into the hill country to a town in Judah.
40 El utyak nu in lohm sel Zechariah ac paingul Elizabeth.
Here she came to the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth;
41 Ke pacl se Elizabeth el lohng kusen paing lal Mary, tulik se insial ah mokuikui, ac Elizabeth el sesseslana ke Ngun Mutal,
and as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the babe leapt within her. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit,
42 ac fahk nu sel Mary ke pusra lulap, “Kom pa insewowo emeet sin mutan nukewa uh, ac insewowo tulik se su kom ac oswela an!
and uttered a loud cry of joy. "Blest among women are you," she said, "and the offspring of your body is blest!
43 Efu ku ouiya na yohk se inge in sikyak nu sik, tuh nina kien Leum luk in tuku nu yuruk?
But why is this honour done me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 Ke pacl se na nga lohngak ke kom paingyu ah, tulik se insiuk inge srosro ke engan.
For, the moment your greeting reached my ears, the babe within me leapt for joy.
45 Fuka lupan insewowo lom ke kom lulalfongi lah kas lun Leum God nu sum ac fah akpwayeyuk!”
And blessed is she who has believed, for the word spoken to her from the Lord shall be fulfilled."
46 Mary el fahk, “Insiuk kaksakin Leum God;
Then Mary said: "My soul extols the Lord,
47 Ngunik engan ke sripen God, Mwet Lango luk,
And my spirit triumphs in God my Saviour;
48 Tuh El esamyu, mutan kulansap pusisel lal! Ingela mwet in fwil nukewa ac fah pangonyu insewowo,
Because He has not turned from His maidservant in her lowly position; For from this time forward all generations will account me happy,
49 Ke sripen orekma yohk su God Kulana El oru nu sik. Inel mutallana;
Because the mighty One has done great things for me--Holy is His name!--
50 Liki fwil nu ke fwil El akkalemye pakoten lal nu selos su sunakunul.
And His compassion is, generation after generation, Upon those who fear Him.
51 El asroela po kulana lal, Ac kunauselik pwapa lun mwet inse fulat.
He has manifested His supreme strength. He has scattered those who were haughty in the thoughts of their hearts.
52 El akpusiselye tokosra kulana liki tron lalos, Ac El akfulatye mwet pusisel.
He has cast monarchs down from their thrones, And exalted men of low estate.
53 El akkihpye mwet masrinsral ke ma wo, Ac supwalik mwet kasrup uh pisinpo.
The hungry He has satisfied with choice gifts, But the rich He has sent empty-handed away.
54 El sruokyana wulela lal nu sin mwet matu lasr, Ac tuku in kasru Israel, mwet kulansap lal.
His servant Israel He has helped, Remembering His compassion--
55 El esam in akkalemye pakoten lal nu sel Abraham Ac fwilin tulik nukewa natul nwe tok!” (aiōn )
In fulfillment of His promises to our forefathers--For Abraham and his posterity for ever." (aiōn )
56 Mary el muta yorol Elizabeth malem tolu, na el folokla nu yen sel.
So Mary stayed with Elizabeth about three months, and then returned home.
57 Sun pacl lal Elizabeth in isusla, ac el oswela sie wen.
Now when Elizabeth's full time was come, she gave birth to a son;
58 Mwet tulan lal ac sou lal lohngak lah Leum God El arulana akinsewowoyal, ac elos welul engan.
and her neighbours and relatives heard how the Lord had had great compassion on her; and they rejoiced with her.
59 Ke tulik sac el sun len oalkosr matwal, elos tuku in tuh kosreyukla el, ac elos akoo in sang inel Zechariah, in folokin inen papa tumal ah.
And on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and were going to call him Zechariah, after his father.
60 Tusruktu nina kial ah fahk mu, “Mo! Inel pa John.”
His mother, however, said, "No, he is to be called John."
61 Ac elos fahk nu sel, “Wangin sou lom ma us ine sacn!”
"There is not one of your family," they said, "who has that name."
62 Na elos kaskas srisrsrisr nu sin papa tumal ac siyuk sel lah ac su inen tulik sac.
They asked his father by signs what he wished him to be called.
63 Zechariah el siyuk sie ma elan sim kac, ac el simusla mu, “Inel pa John.” Elos nukewa arulana lut.
So he asked for a writing-tablet, and wrote, "His name is John." And they all wondered.
64 In pacl sacna Zechariah el sifilpa ku in kaskas, ac el mutawauk in kaksakin God.
Instantly his mouth and his tongue were set free, and he began to speak and bless God.
65 Mwet tulan lalos nukewa arulana sangeng, ac pungen ma inge fahsrelik nu infulan eol nukewa in acn Judea.
And all who lived round about them were filled with awe, and throughout the hill country of Judaea reports of all these things were spread abroad.

All who heard the story treasured it in their memories. "What then will this child be?" they said. For the lord's hand was indeed with him.
67 Zechariah, papa tumal John, el sessesla ke Ngun Mutal, ac el fahkak kas inge sin God me:
And Zechariah his father was filled with the Holy Spirit, and spoke in a rapture of praise.
68 “Lela kut in kaksakin Leum God lun Israel! El tuku tari in kasru mwet lal ac aksukosokyalosla.
"Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel," he said, "Because He has not forgotten His people but has effected redemption for them,

80 Tulik sac kapak ac kui in manol ac in ngunal. El muta yen mwesis nwe ke pacl se el sikyang nu sin mwet Israel.
And the child grew and became strong in character, and lived in the Desert till the time came for him to appear publicly to Israel.
