< Mwet Nununku 11 >
1 Jephthah el sie mwet mweun Gilead su ku ac pulaik. Nina kial uh sie mutan kosro su eis molin kosro lal, ac papa tumal pa Gilead.
And Jephthah the Gileadite has been a mighty man of valor, and he [is the] son of a harlot woman; and Gilead begets Jephthah,
2 Oasr pac wen natul Gilead sin mutan kial ah, na ke tulik mukul inge matula elos lusulla Jephthah liki lohm sin papa tumalos ac fahk, “Kom ac fah tia usrui kutena ma lun papa tumasr, mweyen kom ma nutin siena mutan.”
and the wife of Gilead bears sons to him, and the wife’s sons grow up and cast Jephthah out, and say to him, “You do not inherit in the house of our father; for you [are the] son of another woman.”
3 Na Jephthah el kaingla liki tamulel lal ac som muta in acn Tob. Ac ke el muta we, un mwet lusrongten se tuku nu yorol ac welul forfor in acn sac.
And Jephthah flees from the face of his brothers, and dwells in the land of Tob; and vain men gather themselves together to Jephthah, and they go out with him.
4 Tok kutu, na mwet Ammon elos tuku in mweuni mwet Israel.
And it comes to pass, after a time, that the sons of Ammon fight with Israel,
5 Ke ma inge sikyak ah, mwet kol lun acn Gilead elos som in folokunulma Jephthah liki acn Tob.
and it comes to pass, when the sons of Ammon have fought with Israel, that [the] elderly of Gilead go to take Jephthah from the land of Tob;
6 Elos fahk nu sel, “Fahsru kol kut, tuh kut in ku in mweuni mwet Ammon.”
and they say to Jephthah, “Come, and you have been for a captain to us, and we fight against the sons of Ammon.”
7 A Jephthah el fahk nu selos, “Kowos tuh lisyula liki lohm sin papa tumuk ke sripen kowos tuh arulana srungayu. Na efu kowos ku sukyu inge ke kowos sun ongoiya?”
And Jephthah says to [the] elderly of Gilead, “Have you not hated me? And you cast me out from the house of my father, and why have you come to me now when you are in distress?”
8 Elos fahk nu sel Jephthah, “Kut sifilpa foroht nu sum inge mweyen kut lungse kom in wi kut mweuni mwet Ammon, ac kol mwet Gilead nukewa.”
And [the] elderly of Gilead say to Jephthah, “Therefore, now, we have turned back to you; and you have gone with us, and have fought against the sons of Ammon, and you have been for head to us—to all the inhabitants of Gilead.”
9 Jephthah el topuk ac fahk, “Kowos fin folokinyu nu yen sik tuh nga in mweuni mwet Ammon, ac LEUM GOD El fin ase kutangla nu sik, na nga fah mwet kol lowos.”
And Jephthah says to [the] elderly of Gilead, “If you are taking me back to fight against the sons of Ammon, and YHWH has given them before me—am I for a head to you?”
10 Ac elos topuk ac fahk, “Kut insese ke ma kom fahk an, ac LEUM GOD El mwet loh lasr.”
And [the] elderly of Gilead say to Jephthah, “YHWH is listening between us—if we do not do so according to your word.”
11 Na Jephthah el wi mwet kol lun mwet Gilead inge, ac mwet uh elos akfulatyal ac oru tuh elan mwet kol lalos ac leum faclos. Ac Jephthah el fahkak nunak lal nukewa ye mutun LEUM GOD in acn Mizpah.
And Jephthah goes with [the] elderly of Gilead, and the people set him over them for head and for captain, and Jephthah speaks all his words before YHWH in Mizpeh.
12 Na Jephthah el supwala mwet utuk kas nu yurin tokosra lun mwet Ammon ke kas se inge, “Sripa fuka se kom tuku lain kut kac an— Efu kom utyak nu in acn sesr uh?”
And Jephthah sends messengers to the king of the sons of Ammon, saying, “What [is this] to me and to you, that you have come to me, to fight in my land?”
13 Ac tokosra lun mwet Ammon el topuk mwet utuk kas lal Jephthah ac fahk, “Ke mwet Israel elos tuku liki acn Egypt elos tuku twe eisla facl sik, mutawauk ke Infacl Arnon fahla nwe Infacl Jabbok ac sun Infacl Jordan. Inge kowos enenu in folokonma acn inge nufon ke misla.”
And the king of the sons of Ammon says to the messengers of Jephthah, “Because Israel took my land in his coming up out of Egypt, from Arnon, and to the Jabbok, and to the Jordan; and now, restore them in peace.”
14 Na Jephthah el sifil supwala mwet utuk kas nu yurin tokosra lun mwet Ammon,
And Jephthah adds yet and sends messengers to the king of the sons of Ammon,
15 ke kas se inge, “Tia pwaye lah mwet Israel elos eisla facl Moab ku facl Ammon.
and says to him, “Thus said Jephthah: Israel did not take the land of Moab, and the land of the sons of Ammon,
16 Pa inge ma tuh sikyak ah. Ke mwet Israel elos tuku liki acn Egypt elos fahsr sasla yen mwesis nwe ke elos sun inalok ke Meoa Srusra ac tuku nu Kadesh.
for in their coming up out of Egypt, Israel goes in the wilderness to the Red Sea, and comes to Kadesh,
17 Na elos supwala mwet utuk kas nu yurin tokosra lun mwet Edom in siyuk tuh elan fuhlela elos in fahla sasla facl sel ah. Tuh tokosra sac el tuh tia fuhlela. Na elos siyuk pac sin tokosra lun mwet Moab, tuh el tia pacna lela elos in fahla in acn sel. Ouinge mwet Israel elos mutana in acn Kadesh.
and Israel sends messengers to the king of Edom, saying, Please let me pass over through your land, and the king of Edom did not listen; and [Israel] has also sent to the king of Moab, and he has not been willing; and Israel abides in Kadesh,
18 Na elos fahsrna ke yen mwesis, ac ut sisken facl Edom ac Moab nwe ke elos sun kutulap in Moab, nu lefahl eir in Infacl Arnon. Elos tui we, tia tupalla Infacl Arnon mweyen pa ingan masrol nu Moab.
and he goes through the wilderness, and goes around the land of Edom and the land of Moab, and comes in at the rising of the sun of the land of Moab, and they encamp beyond Arnon, and have not come into the border of Moab, for Arnon [is] the border of Moab.
19 Na mwet Israel elos supwala mwet utuk kas nu yorol Sihon, tokosra lun mwet Amor in acn Heshbon, ac siyuk elan lela elos in fahsr sasla facl sel nu in acn selos sifacna.
And Israel sends messengers to Sihon, king of the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and Israel says to him, Please let us pass over through your land, to my place,
20 Na Sihon el tia pac lela mwet Israel in fahsr sasla facl sel. El sap mwet mweun lal nukewa in fahsreni ac muta in acn Jahaz, na elos mweun lain mwet Israel.
and Sihon has not trusted Israel to pass over through his border, and Sihon gathers all his people, and they encamp in Jahaz, and fight with Israel;
21 Tusruktu LEUM GOD lun Israel El oru tuh mwet Israel in kutangulla Sihon ac mwet mweun lal. Na mwet Israel elos eisla acn nukewa sin mwet Amor su muta in facl sac tuh in ma lalos.
and YHWH, God of Israel, gives Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they strike them, and Israel possesses all the land of the Amorite, the inhabitant of that land,
22 Elos sruokya facl sin mwet Amor nukewa, mutawauk Infacl Arnon su masrol nu eir, utyak nwe ke Infacl Jabbok layen nu epang, ac liki yen mwesis su masrol kutulap, fahla nwe ke Infacl Jordan layen nu roto.
and they possess all the border of the Amorite from Arnon, and to the Jabbok, and from the wilderness, and to the Jordan.
23 LEUM GOD lun Israel pa tuh lusak mwet Amor inge ac sang facl sac nu sin mwet Israel, mwet lal.
And now, YHWH, God of Israel, has dispossessed the Amorite from the presence of His people Israel, and you would possess it!
24 Ya kom ac srike in sifilpa eis facl se inge tuh in ma lom— Kom ku in sruokya kutena acn ma Chemosh, god lom, el tuh sot nu sum. A kut, kut ac sruokya acn nukewa ma LEUM GOD lasr El eisla in ma lasr.
That which your god Chemosh causes you to possess—do you not possess it? And all that which our God YHWH has dispossessed from our presence—we possess it.
25 Mea, kom nunku mu kom fas lukel Balak, wen natul Zippor, tokosra lun mwet Moab— Ya oasr pacl Balak el akukuin lain mwet Israel, ku mweun lain kut?
And now, [are] you at all better than Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab? Did he strive with Israel at all? Did he fight against them at all?
26 Oasr yac tolfoko lac mwet Israel elos sruokya acn Heshbon ac Aroer ac inkul ma oan raunela, oayapa siti nukewa su oan sisken Infacl Arnon. Efu ku kom tia eisla acn inge ke pacl na loeloes se ingan?
In Israel’s dwelling in Heshbon and in its towns, and in Aroer and in its towns, and in all the cities which [are] by the sides of Arnon [for] three hundred years—and why have you not delivered them in that time?
27 Tia nga pa orekma koluk nu sum uh. Kom pa orekma koluk ke kom mweun lainyu. Misenge LEUM GOD El ac fah oru nununku lal inmasrlon mwet Israel ac mwet Ammon.”
And I have not sinned against you, and you are doing evil with me—to fight against me. YHWH, the Judge, judges between the sons of Israel and the sons of Ammon today.”
28 Tusruktu, tokosra lun mwet Ammon el tia lohang nu ke kas inge ma Jephthah el supwala nu yorol.
And the king of the sons of Ammon has not listened to the words of Jephthah which he sent to him,
29 Na ngunin LEUM GOD tuku nu facl Jephthah. El fahsr sasla in acn Gilead ac Manasseh, ac folokla nu Mizpah in acn Gilead ac som nu Ammon.
and the Spirit of YHWH is on Jephthah, and he passes over Gilead and Manasseh, and passes over Mizpeh of Gilead, and he has passed over from Mizpeh of Gilead to the sons of Ammon.
30 Ac Jephthah el orala sie wulela nu sin LEUM GOD ac fahk, “Kom fin oru tuh nga in kutangla mwet Ammon,
And Jephthah vows a vow to YHWH and says, “If You give the sons of Ammon into my hand at all—
31 na mwet se emeet su ilme liki lohm sik ac sunyu ke nga ac kutangla foloko, nga ac fah kisakin nu sum, tuh in mwe kisa firir.”
then it has been, that which comes out from the doors of my house at all to meet me in my turning back in peace from the sons of Ammon—it has been for YHWH, or I have offered up a burnt-offering for it.”
32 Ouinge Jephthah el fahla sasla Infacl Arnon in mweuni mwet Ammon, ac LEUM GOD El sang kutangla nu sel.
And Jephthah passes over to the sons of Ammon to fight against them, and YHWH gives them into his hand,
33 El tuh mweunelos, mutawauk in acn Aroer fahla rauneak acn Minnith, su oasr siti longoul we, nwe ke el sun acn Abel Keramim. Mwet puspis anwuki ke mweun se inge, na mwet Israel elos kutangla mwet Ammon.
and he strikes them from Aroer, and to [where] you are going in to Minnith—twenty cities—and to the meadow of the vineyards, [with] a very great striking; and the sons of Ammon are humbled at the presence of the sons of Israel.
34 Ke Jephthah el folok nu yen sel in acn Mizpah, acn se natul ah el illa in sonol. El srital ke sie tambourine ac onsrosro. El tulik sefanna natul, wangin pac tulik saya.
And Jephthah comes into Mizpeh, to his house, and behold, his daughter is coming out to meet him with timbrels, and with choruses, and except her alone, he has no son or daughter.
35 Ke Jephthah el liyal el arulana asor ac seya nuknuk lal, ac fahk, “We, acn nutik! Sripom pa oru ngan pula keok upa nu in ngunik inge! Foroti na pwaye insiuk keim, mweyen nga tuh orala wulela na ku se nu sin LEUM GOD ac nga tia ku in kunausla!”
And it comes to pass, when he sees her, that he tears his garments and says, “Aah! My daughter, you have caused me to bend greatly, and you have been among those troubling me; and I have opened my mouth to YHWH, and I am not able to turn back.”
36 Ac tulik mutan sac fahk nu sel, “Kom fin orala tari sie wulela nu sin LEUM GOD, oru nu sik ma kom wulela kac an, mweyen LEUM GOD El tuh kasrekom in foloksak nu sin mwet lokoalok lom, mwet Ammon uh.
And she says to him, “My father, you have opened your mouth to YHWH, do to me as it has gone out from your mouth, after that YHWH has done vengeance for you on your enemies, on the sons of Ammon.”
37 Tusruktu, oasr sie ma nga enenu sum: filiyula nga in wi kawuk luk som mutwata fineol uh malem luo, in asorkin lah nga ac misa tia payuk.”
And she says to her father, “Let this thing be done to me; desist from me [for] two months, and I go on, and have gone down on the hills, and I weep for my virginity—I and my friends.”
38 Na Jephthah el fahk elan som ke lusen malem luo. Na acn sac wi mutan kawuk lal elos som nu fineol uh, ac tung mweyen el ac misa ac tia payuk ku isus tulik.
And he says, “Go”; and he sends her away [for] two months, and she goes, she and her friends, and she weeps for her virginity on the hills;
39 Tukun malem luo el foloko nu yurin papa tumal. Jephthah el oru nu sel oana ma el tuh wulela nu sin LEUM GOD, na mutan sac el misa, tiana payuk. Pa inge mutaweyen facsin se inge,
and it comes to pass at the end of two months that she turns back to her father, and he does to her his vow which he has vowed, and she did not know a man; and it is a statute in Israel:
40 ma mutan Israel uh ac som liki lohm selos ke lusen len akosr pacl se ke yac nukewa, in asor ac oru mwe esmakin lalos ke acn natul Jephthah, mwet Gilead.
from time to time the daughters of Israel go to talk to the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite, four days in a year.
