< Joshua 20 >
1 Na LEUM GOD El fahk nu sel Joshua,
And the Lord spoke to Joshua, saying: “Speak to the sons of Israel, and say to them:
2 “Fahk nu sin mwet Israel elos in sulela siti in molela oana ke nga tuh fahk Moses elan fahkot nu sum.
Separate the cities of refuge, about which I spoke to you by the hand of Moses,
3 Fin oasr mwet se uniya sie mwet ke tia ma el akoo in orala a ma ke ongla ouiya, elan ku in kaingla nu we ac suk molela liki mwet se ma suk in foloksak nu sel an.
so that anyone who will have struck down a life unintentionally may flee to them. And so, he may be able to escape from the wrath of a close relative, who is an avenger of blood.
4 El fin kaingla nu in sie siti inge, el enenu in tui ke acn in nununku ke acn in utyak an, ac fahkak ma se el orala an nu sin mwet kol in siti sacn. Na elos fah ku in eisal nu in siti sac ac sang sie acn elan muta we.
And when he will have fled to one of these cities, he shall stand before the gate of the city, and he shall speak to the ancients of that city, the things that prove him innocent. And so shall they receive him, and give him a place in which to live.
5 Mwet sukok foloksak inge fin ukwal nu in acn sac, na mwet in siti sac elos tia ku in eisalang nu sel mweyen inkanek in ongla ouiya se pa el tuh eisla moul lun mwet sac kac ah, ac tia ma el akola sel in oru.
And if the avenger of blood will have pursued him, they shall not deliver him into his hands. For he struck down his neighbor unknowingly, one who was not proven to have been his enemy two or three days before.
6 Mwet sac enenu in mutana in siti sac nwe ke na orekla nununku nu sel sin mwet kol in acn sac, ac nwe ke na Mwet Tol Fulat se lun Israel in pacl sac el misa. Tukun pacl se inge, na mwet sacn fah ku in folokla nu in acn sel ma el kaingla we me.”
And he shall live in that city, until he stands before judgment in order to render the facts of his case, and until the death of the high priest, whoever it will be in that time. Then the one who killed a man may return, and he may enter his own city and house, from which he had fled.”
7 Ouinge elos sulela acn Kedesh in Galilee ke fineol in acn lal Naphtali, ac Shechem ke fineol in acn lal Ephraim, ac Hebron (Kiriath-arba) ke fineol in acn lal Judah. Siti inge kewa oan roto in Infacl Jordan.
And they decreed Kedesh in Galilee, at mount Naphtali, and Shechem, at mount Ephraim, and Kiriath-Arba, which is Hebron, at mount Judah.
8 Elos sulela Bezer in acn mwesis lal Reuben, ac Ramoth in Gilead in acn lal Gad, ac Golan in Bashan in acn lal Manasseh. Siti inge kewa oan kutulap in Infacl Jordan ke acn tupasrpasr ke fineol kutulap in Jericho.
And beyond the Jordan, opposite the eastern side of Jericho, they appointed Bezer, which is situated on the plain of the wilderness of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan of the tribe of Manasseh.
9 Kutena sin mwet Israel, ku mwetsac su muta inmasrlolos, fin eisla moul lun sie mwet ke ongla ouiya, el ku in kaingla nu in sie sin siti inge, na ac tia anwuki el sin mwet ma suk in foloksak nu sel meet liki nununkeyuk el yurin mwet kol in acn sac.
These cities were established for all the sons of Israel, and for the new arrivals who were living among them, so that whoever had struck down a life unintentionally might flee to these, and not die at the hand of a close relative who desires to vindicate the blood that was shed, until he should stand before the people, in order to present his case.
