< Jonah 4 >

1 Jonah el inse toasr ac kasrkusrak ke ma se inge.
But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry.
2 Na el pre ac fahk, “LEUM GOD, ya nga tuh tia fahk meet liki nga som liki acn sik lah pa inge ma kom ac mau oru uh? Pa pwanang nga tuh suk na ngan kaingla nu Tarshish! Nga etu lah kom sie God su yohk lungse ac pakoten la, ac kom mongfisrasr pacl nukewa, kulang pacl nukewa, ac akola pacl nukewa in ekulla nunak lom tuh kom in tia kalyei mwet uh.
And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I hasted to flee unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and full of compassion, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy, and repentest thee of the evil.
3 Ke ma inge, LEUM GOD, eisla moul luk. Nga fin misa, ac wo liki na nga in moul.”
Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live.
4 LEUM GOD El topuk, “Ya fal kom in kasrkusrak?”
And the LORD said, Doest thou well to be angry?
5 Jonah el illa liki siti uh ac muta layen kutulap in siti sac. El orala sie iwen aktuktuk nu sel sifacna ac muta ye lul kac, ac tupan elan liye lah mea ac sikyak nu Nineveh.
Then Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city.
6 Na LEUM GOD El orala soko mah orak in kapak ac sunilya Jonah, ac lul kac akwoyal. Ac Jonah el arulana insewowo ke mah orak soko ah.
And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his evil case. So Jonah was exceeding glad because of the gourd.
7 Tusruktu toang na ke lutu tok ah, God El sap wet soko in kunausla mah orak soko ah, na mah soko ah masla.
But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd, that it withered.
8 Tukun faht ah takak tari, God El supwama sie eng na fol kutulap me, ac Jonah el apkuran in mulalla ke fulen faht ah sreya fin sifal. Ouinge el kena elan misa. El fahk, “Nga fin misa, ac wo liki na nga in moul.”
And it came to pass, when the sun arose, that God prepared a sultry east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and requested for himself that he might die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.
9 Tuh God El fahk nu sel, “Ya fal kom in kasrkusrak ke mah orak soko ah?” Jonah el topuk, “Aok, nuna fal ngan kasrkusrak — lupan kasrkusrak luk inge ku na ngan misa kac!”
And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry even unto death.
10 LEUM GOD El fahk nu sel, “Mah orak soko inge kapak ke fong se na, ac masla pacna ke fong se toko an. Wangin orekma lom nu kac, ac tia pac kom pa oru in kap uh, a kom asor kac!
And the LORD said, Thou hast had pity on the gourd; for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:
11 Ac fal nu sik in arulana yohk pakomuta luk ke acn Nineveh, siti lulap sac, ke sripen oasr tulik siofok longoul tausin we wangin mwatalos, oapaya ma orakrak!”
and should not I have pity on Nineveh, that great city; wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?
