< Jonah 3 >

1 LEUM GOD El sifilpa kaskas nu sel Jonah.
Then came the word of Yahweh unto Jonah, the second time, saying:
2 El fahk, “Fahla nu Nineveh, siti lulap sac, ac sulkakin nu sin mwet we pweng su nga fahkot nu sum.”
Arise, get thee unto Nineveh, the great city, —and cry against it the cry that I am bidding thee.
3 Ouinge Jonah el akos LEUM GOD ac som nu Nineveh, sie siti yoklana, su enenu mwet se in fahsr len tolu in sasla kac.
So Jonah arose, and went his way unto Nineveh, according to the word of Yahweh, —Nineveh, being a city great before God, of three days’ journey.
4 Jonah el utyak nu in siti sac, ac tukun el fahsr len fon se el sulkakin pweng sac ac fahk, “Len angngaul na lula, na Nineveh ac fah kanausyukla!”
So Jonah began to enter into the city, one day’s journey, —and he cried out and said—Yet forty days, and, Nineveh, is to be overthrown!
5 Mwet Nineveh elos lulalfongi ma God El fahk inge. Ouinge elos wotela mu mwet nukewa in lalo, na mwet fulat nwe ke mwet srisrik nukewa nokomang nuknuk yohk eoa in akkalemye lah elos auliyak.
And the people of Nineveh believed in God, —and proclaimed a fast, and clothed themselves in sackcloth, from the greatest of them, even unto the least of them.
6 Ke tokosra lun Nineveh el lohngak, el tuyak liki tron lal, sarukla nuknuk in tokosra lal, nokomang nuknuk yohk eoa, ac pituki fin apat uh.
And the word reached unto the king of Nineveh, so he arose from his throne, and laid aside his robe from off him, —and covered him with sackcloth, and sat on ashes.
7 El supwalik sie sap nu sin mwet Nineveh, su fahk: “Sap soko sin tokosra ac mwet pwapa lal pa inge: Wangin mwet, ku cow, ku sheep, fah kang ku nim kutena ma.
And he caused an outcry to be made—and said—throughout Nineveh, By decree of the king and of his great men, Be it known: —Man and beast, herd and flock, Let them taste, nothing, let them not feed, and, water, let them not drink:
8 Mwet nukewa enenu in nokomang nuknuk yohk eoa, ac ma orakrak nukewa enenu in afyufi ke nuknuk yohk eoa. Mwet nukewa enenu in pre akoaruye nu sin God, ac sisla ouiya sulallal ac orekma koluk lalos.
Let both man and beast, cover themselves with sackcloth, and let them cry unto God, mightily, —Yea let them turn, every man from his wicked way, and from the violence which is in their hands:
9 Sahp God El ac ekulla nunak lal. Sahp El ac tila kasrkusrak, ac kut fah tia misa!”
Who knoweth whether God himself—may turn and grieve, —and turn away from the glow of his anger, that we perish not?
10 God El liye ma elos oru. El liye lah elos sisla ouiya koluk lalos. Ouinge El ekulla nunak lal ac tia sang kai nu selos, oana El tuh fahk mu El ac oru.
And God saw their doings, that they turned from their wicked way, —and God was grieved over the calamity which he had spoken of executing upon them, and executed it not.
