< John 12 >

Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, who He had raised from the dead.
2 Elos akoo mongo in eku se nu sel we, ac Martha el kasru in kulansap kac.
There they made Him a supper, and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him.
3 Na Mary el use sie sufa in ono na yohk molo, ma orekla ke sak keng soko pangpang nard, ac ukuiya nu ke nial Jesus, ac eela ke aunsifal. Foulin ono keng sac fohlela in lohm sac nufon.
Then Mary took a pound of very costly perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
Then one of Jesus’ disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who was about to betray Him, said,
5 “Efu ku ono soko inge tia kukakinyukla ke tolfoko ipin silver, ac itukyang nu sin mwet sukasrup uh?”
“Why wasn’t this fragrant oil sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?”
Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and since he had the money box, he used to steal from what was put into it.
7 Tusruktu Jesus el fahk, “Nimet lusrongol! Lela elan esam lah ma el oru inge ma nu ke len in pukpuki luk.
Jesus therefore said, “Leave her alone. She has kept this for the day of my burial.
8 Ac oasr mwet sukasrup yuruwos pacl nukewa, a nga ac tia muta yuruwos pacl nukewa.”
You will always have the poor among you, but you won’t always have me.”
9 Mwet puspis elos lohngak lah Jesus el oasr Bethany, na elos som nu we. Elos tia som in liyal Jesus mukena, a oayapa tuh elos in liyal Lazarus, su Jesus el akmoulyauk liki misa.
Then a great multitude of the Jews learned that He was there; and they came, not just for Jesus’ sake, but also so that they could see Lazarus, who He had raised from the dead.
10 Ke ma inge mwet tol fulat elos pwapa tuh elos in oayapa unilya Lazarus,
So the chief priests plotted to kill Lazarus too,
11 mweyen ke sripal, mwet Jew puspis elos ngetla lukelos ac lulalfongi ke Jesus.
because on account of him many of the Jews were going away, and were believing in Jesus.
The next day, when a great multitude that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13 Ke ma inge elos us lesak palm ac illa som in sonol. Elos sasa ac fahk, “Hosanna! Insewowo el su tuku Inen Leum! God Elan akinsewowoye Tokosra lun Israel!”
they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and shouted: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’ The King of Israel!”
14 Jesus el konauk donkey soko ac sroang muta fac, oana ke Ma Simusla fahk:
Then Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it, as it is written:
15 “Siti Zion, nikmet sangeng! Liye, Tokosra lom el tuku, Ac el muta fin soko donkey fusr.”
“Don’t be afraid, Daughter of Zion; look, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt.”
16 Mwet tumal lutlut tia kalem ke ma inge in pacl sac, tusruktu ke pacl se Jesus el akmoulyeyukyak in wolana, elos fah esamak lah Ma Simusla fahkak ma inge kacl, ac elos esamak pac lah elos tuh oru ma inge nu sel.
His disciples didn’t understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him and that they had done these things to Him.
17 Mwet ma tuh welul Jesus ke pacl se el pangnolma Lazarus liki inkulyuk uh ac akmoulyalak liki misa ah, elos tuh fahkak ke ma sikyak inge.
So the crowd that had been with Him when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to testify.
The crowd also met Him because they heard that He had done this sign.
Ngetla liye, faclu nufon welul lac!”
Then the Pharisees said among themselves, “You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the whole world has gone after Him!”
20 Oasr mwet Greek inmasrlon mwet ma som nu Jerusalem in wi alu ke pacl in kufwa uh.
Now there were certain Greeks among those who came up to worship at the feast.
(Philip el mwet Bethsaida in Galilee.)
Then they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and told him, “Sir, we would like to see Jesus.”
Philip came and told Andrew, then Andrew and Philip came and told Jesus.
23 Jesus el topkolos ac fahk, “Sun pacl fal tuh Wen nutin Mwet in eis wolana lulap.
Jesus answered them, saying, “The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.
24 Nga fahk na pwaye nu suwos: fiten wheat se fin tia putatla nu in fohk uh ac misa, na tia ku in puseni, a ac nuna fita se na. A fin misa, na ac osweya fita pukanten.
Most assuredly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone, but if it dies, it produces many grains.
Anyone who loves their life will lose it, and anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
26 El su lungse kulansupweyu el enenu in fahsr tukuk, tuh mwet kulansap luk fah wiyu yen nga oasr we. Ac Papa tumuk El fah akfulatyal su kulansupweyu.
If anyone serves me, let them follow me; and where I am, there my servant will be also. If anyone serves me, my Father will honor them.
27 “Inge insiuk toasrlana — mea nga ac fahk? Ya nga ac fahk mu, ‘Papa, nik kom lela ao in keok se inge in putati fuk’? Tusruktu pa inge sripen tuku luk uh — tuh nga in ku in mutangla ao in keok se inge.
“Now my soul has become troubled; and what will I say? ‘Father, save me from this time’? No, for this purpose I came to this time.
28 Papa, akkalemye wolana lun Inem!” Na pusra se kasla inkusrao me ac fahk, “Nga akkalemye tari wolana luk, ac nga fah sifilpa oru.”
Father, glorify Your name.” Then a voice came from Heaven, saying, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.”
29 Un mwet se ma tu in acn sac elos lohng pusra sac, ac kutu selos fahk mu pusren pulahl, a kutu mu, “Lipufan se kaskas nu sel!”
Therefore the people who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to Him.”
30 A Jesus el fahk nu selos, “Pusra sac tia kaskas ke sripuk, a ke sripowos.
Jesus answered, “This voice hasn’t come for my sake, but for your sakes.
31 Inge pacl in nununkeyuk faclu. Inge leum lun faclu fah sisila.
Now judgment is upon this world. Now the ruler of this world will be cast out.
32 Pacl se nga ac sripsripyak liki faclu, nga fah kolma mwet nukewa nu yuruk.” (
And I, if I am lifted up from the Earth, will draw everyone to myself.”
He was saying this to indicate the kind of death He was about to die.
34 Un mwet sac topuk ac fahk, “Ma Sap lasr uh fahk mu Christ el ac moul ma pahtpat. Na efu ku kom fahk mu Wen nutin Mwet ac fah sripsripyak? Su Wen nutin Mwet se inge?” (aiōn g165)
Therefore the crowd answered Him, “We have heard from the Law that the Christ is to remain forever, so how can You say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?” (aiōn g165)
35 Jesus el topuk ac fahk, “Ac fah oasr kalem inmasrlowos ke kitin pacl na. Oru orekma lowos ke srakna oasr kalem yuruwos, tuh lohsr uh in tia tuku nu fowos. Tuh el su fahsr in lohsr el tia etu acn el fahsr nu we.
Jesus told them, “The light is with you for a little longer. Walk while you have the light, so that the darkness may not overtake you. If you walk in the darkness, you don’t know where you are going.
36 Kowos lulalfongi ke kalem ke srakna oasr yuruwos, tuh kowos fah mwet lun kalem.” Tukun Jesus el fahk ma inge, el som liki acn sac ac wikla lukelos.
Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” After Jesus had said this, he departed and hid from them.
37 El nwe orala ma usrnguk puspis ye mutalos, elos tiana lulalfongi in el,
Although He had performed so many signs in front of them, they still didn’t believe in Him,
38 tuh kas in palu lal Isaiah fah akpwayeiyuk: “Leum, su lulalfongi pweng ma kut srumun? Leum God El akkalemye ku lal nu sin su?”
so that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke: “Lord, who has believed our report? And who has the arm of the LORD been revealed to?”
39 Ke ma inge elos koflana lulalfongi, mweyen Isaiah el oayapa fahk:
Therefore they couldn’t believe, because Isaiah said again:
40 “God El konela mutalos Ac kaliya nunak lalos, Tuh mutalos fah tia liye, Ac nunak lalos fah tia kalem Ac elos fah tia forma nu sik, God El fahk, Tuh ngan akkeyalos liki mas lalos.”
“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their hearts and turn — and I would heal them.”
Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus’ glory and spoke about Him.
42 In pacl sac, mwet fulat puspis sin mwet Jew lulalfongi ke Jesus Tusruktu ke sripen mwet Pharisee, elos tia sramsramkin lemtulauk, mweyen elos tia lungse in sisila elos liki iwen lolngok.
Nevertheless, even many of the rulers believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they weren’t confessing Him, for fear that they might be put out of the synagogue;
43 Elos lungse tuh mwet uh in kaksakunulos, liki elos in eis kaksak sin God.
because they sincerely loved men’s approval more than God’s approval.
Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me doesn’t just believe in me, but in Him who sent me.
Whoever sees me sees Him who sent me.
46 Nga tuku nu faclu oana kalem se, tuh elos nukewa su filiya lulalfongi lalos in nga, fah tia mutana in lohsr.
I have come into the world as light, that everyone who believes in me should not stay in darkness.
47 Kutena mwet fin lohng kas luk ac tia akos, nga fah tia nununkal. Nga tia tuku in nununku faclu, a in molela.
If anyone hears the words I speak, and doesn’t keep them, I don’t judge them; because I didn’t come to judge the world, but to save the world.
Kas ma nga fahkak uh pa ac nununkal ke len safla!
Whoever rejects me, and doesn’t receive my sayings, has one who judges them. The words that I spoke are what will judge him at the last day.
49 Mwe luti luk uh tia ma sik sifacna, a Papa su supweyume pa sapkin nu sik ma nga in fahk ac kaskaskin.
For I haven’t spoken on my own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent me has given me commandment, what to say, and what to speak.
50 Nga etu lah ma El sapkin uh ma ac ase moul ma pahtpat. Ke ma inge, nga fahk oana ma Papa El fahk nu sik.” (aiōnios g166)
I know that His commandment is eternal life, so the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told me.” (aiōnios g166)
