< Job 15 >

1 Na Eliphaz el topkol ac fahk,
Then responded Eliphaz the Temanite, and said:
2 “Kaskas wel, Job. Kom kaskas wel!
Should, a wise man, answer unreal knowledge? or fill, with the east wind, his inner man?
3 Wangin mwet lalmwetmet ku in fahk kain kas ma kom fahk ingan, Ku sifacna loangel ke kain kaskas lalfon ingan;
Disputing with discourse that doth no good, or with speech, wherein is no profit?
4 Fin ac wi nunak lom an, na wangin mwet ac sangeng sin God; Wangin pac mwet ac pre nu sel.
But, thou, wouldst take away reverence, and wouldst attain unto meditation before GOD.
5 Moul koluk lom an kalem ke luman sramsram lom ingan; Kom srike na in sifacna molikomla ke kas usrnguk lom ingan.
For thine own mouth would teach thine iniquity, and thou wouldst choose the tongue of the crafty.
6 Tia enenu nga in akkolukye kom; Kas nukewa lom ingan sifacna fahkkomyak.
Thine own mouth shall condemn thee, and, not I, And, thine own lips, shall testify against thee.
7 “Mea, kom nunku mu kom pa mwet se ma isusla oemeet uh? Mea, kom oasr ke pacl se God El orala fineol ah?
The first of mankind, wast thou born? Or, before the hills, wast thou brought forth?
8 Ya kom tuh lohng ma God El akoo Elan oru ah? Mea, lalmwetmet lun mwet uh ma lom mukena?
In the secret council of GOD, hast thou been wont to hearken? Or canst thou attain for thyself unto wisdom?
9 Kut etu nufon ma kom etu an.
What knowest thou, that we know not? [What] understandest thou, and the same, is not with us?
10 Kut eis etauk lasr sin mwet ma fiayala aunsifa — Su isusla meet liki papa tomom ah.
Both hoary and venerable, are among us, one mightier than thy father in days!
11 “God El ke akwoye kom; efu kom ku srangesr lohng? Kut sramsram in Inen God ke pusra na wo ac kulang.
Too small for thee, are the consolations of GOD? or a word spoken gently with thee?
12 A kom folak ac ngetnget in kasrkusrak nu sesr.
How doth thine own heart carry thee away, and how thine eyes do roll!
13 Kom kasrkusrakak sin God, ac fahk kas na upa lainul.
For thy spirit, replieth against GOD, and thou bringest forth—out of thy mouth—words!
14 “Mea oasr mwet ku in arulana mutal? Ya oasr mwet suwohs ye mutun God?
What is a mortal, that he should be pure? or that righteous should be one born of a woman?
15 Finne lipufan lun God uh, El tia pacna lulalfongelos; Aok, elos tia pac mutal ye mutun God.
Lo! in his holy ones, he putteth not confidence, and, the heavens, are not pure in his eyes:
16 Ac mwet uh nim ma koluk uh oana kof uh; Aok pwaye, mwet uh arulana fohkfok, ac wangin sripa.
How much less when one is detested and corrupt, a man who drinketh in—like water—perversity.
17 “Inge Job, wona kom in porongeyu ke ma nga etu uh.
I will tell thee—hear me, Since this I have seen, I must needs declare it.
18 Mwet lalmwetmet elos luti nu sik ke ma pwaye Su elos eis sin papa tumalos meet ah, Ac wanginna ma lukma elos okanla.
Which, wise men, tell, and deny not [that which is] from their fathers.
19 Wangin mwetsac muta in facl selos; Pwanang wangin mwet in pwanulosla liki God.
To them alone, was the earth given, and no alien passed through their midst:
20 “Sie mwet koluk su akkeokye mwet saya uh Ac fah mutana in keok ac mwaiok ke lusen moul lal nufon.
All the days of the lawless man, he, doth writhe with pain, and, the number of years, is hidden from the tyrant;
21 Pusra in aksangeng ac fah woi insracl, Ac mwet pisrapasr ac fah pisre ma lal ke pacl el nunku mu el mutana in misla.
A noise of dreadful things, is in his ears, In prosperity, the destroyer cometh upon him;
22 Wangin finsrak lal in kaingla liki lohsr uh, Mweyen oasr cutlass se oanna akola in unilya,
He hath no confidence to come back out of darkness, he, being destined to the power oft the sword;
23 Ac won vulture uh soano na in kangla manol. El etu lah pacl fahsru lal uh ac lohsr;
A wanderer, he, for bread, [saying] Where [is it]? He knoweth that, prepared by his own hand, is the day of darkness;
24 Ongoiya oan soanel in sruokilya, Oana sie tokosra su akola nu ke mweun.
Distress and anguish shall startle him, It shall overpower him, like a king ready for the onset:
25 “Pa inge safla lun sie mwet Su srisrngi paol nu in mutun God, Ac kena lain El su Kulana.
Because he had stretched out—against GOD—his hand, and, against the Almighty, had been wont to behave himself proudly;
26 Mwet se ingan el ac likkekelana Ac us mwe loang natul, ac yuyang in lain God,
He used to run against him with uplifted neck, with the stout bosses of his bucklers;
27 El finne arulana yohk Ac ratratla ke mwe kasrup.
For he had covered his face with his fatness, and had gathered a superabundance on his loins;
28 “Pa ingan mwet se ma tuh sruokya siti pus, Ac eisla lohm ma mwet la uh kaingla liki; Tusruktu mweun ac fah kunausla siti ac lohm inge.
And had inhabited demolished cities, houses, wherein men would not dwell, that were destined to become heaps.
29 Kasrup lal uh ac tia oan paht; Wangin kutena sin ma lal inge ac fah oan nwe tok. Finne ngunal sifacna, ac fah wanginla pac,
He shall not be rich, nor shall his substance continue, neither shall their shadow stretch along on the earth;
30 Ac el ac fah tia ku in kaingla liki lohsr uh. El ac fah oana soko sak Su lah kac uh firiryak ke e, Ac ros kac uh ukukla ke eng uh.
He shall not depart out of darkness, his young branch, shall the flame dry up, and he shall depart, by the breath of his own mouth!
31 El fin wella ac lulalfongi ke ma koluk, Na el ac fah kosrani ke ma koluk.
Let no one trust in him that—by vanity—is deceived, for, vanity, shall be his recompense;
32 Meet liki el sun pacl in safla lal, el ac uli; El ac uli oana sie lesak, ac tia ku in sifil folfolla insroa.
Before his day, shall it be accomplished, with, his palm-top, not covered with leaves;
33 El ac fah oana soko fain ma fahko kac uh mangosr na putatla; Ac oana soko sak olive ma putatla ros kac uh.
He shall wrong—like a vine—his sour grapes, and shall cast off—as an olive-tree—his blossom.
34 Ac fah wangin fwilin tulik nutin un mwet ma tia akfulatye God, Ac e ac fah furreak lohm ma musaiyukla ke mani in eyeinse.
For, the family of the impious, is unfruitful, and, a fire, hath devoured the tents of bribery;
35 Mwet inge pa muta akoo in oru mwe lokoalok ac ma koluk; Ac insialos sessesla ke kutasrik pacl nukewa.”
Conceiving mischief, and bringing forth iniquity, yea, their inmost soul, prepareth deceit.
