< Jeremiah 44 >

1 Kas lun LEUM GOD tuku nu sik in fahkang nu sin mwet Judah nukewa su muta in acn Egypt — nu selos su muta in siti lun Migdol, Tahpanhes, ac Memphis, oayapa elos su muta acn layen eir in facl sac.
This is the message that came to Jeremiah regarding all the people of Judah living in Egypt—in Migdol, Tahpanhes, and Memphis—and in Upper Egypt.
2 LEUM GOD Kulana, God lun Israel, El fahk, “Kowos sifacna liye ke nga kunausla acn Jerusalem ac siti nukewa in acn Judah. Siti inge srakna oan musalla nwe misenge, ac wangin mwet muta we
This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: You saw the complete disaster that I brought down on Jerusalem and all the towns of Judah. You can see how today they're ruined and abandoned
3 mweyen mwet we elos tuh orekma koluk ac akkasrkusrakyeyu. Elos oru mwe kisa lalos ac orekma nu sin god saya — god su elos, ac kowos, ac mwet matu lowos tiana alu nu kac meet.
because of the evil they did. They made me angry by burning incense and serving other gods that they hadn't ever known, and you and your forefathers hadn't known either.
4 Nga nuna supu na mwet kulansap luk, mwet palu, su fahk nu suwos kowos in tia oru ma koluk inge ma nga srunga.
I sent you all my servants the prophets time and again to warn you: “Don't do these offensive things that I hate.”
5 A kowos tiana porongo ku forla liki inkanek koluk lowos, in tia oru mwe kisa nu sin god saya.
But you refused to listen or to pay attention. You didn't stop their wickedness or burning incense in worship of other gods.
6 Ke ma inge nga okoala kasrkusrak fol luk nu fin siti lun Judah ac nu fin inkanek Jerusalem, ac esukulosyak. Na acn inge oan musalla nwe misenge, su mwe aksangeng in liye.
That's why my furious anger poured out and set fire to the towns of Judah and burned in the streets of Jerusalem, making them the abandoned ruins they still are today.
7 “Inge, nga LEUM GOD Kulana, God lun Israel, siyuk suwos lah efu kowos ku oru kain koluk ouinge nu suwos sifacna. Ya kowos lungse use mwe ongoiya lulap nu fin mwet lowos nukewa — mukul, mutan, tulik, ac oayapa tulik fusr — tuh in wangin mwet lowos lula?
So this is what the Lord God Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Why are you hurting yourselves so badly by removing from Judah every man, woman, child, infant, so you don't have anyone left?
8 Efu kowos ku akkasrkusrakyeyu ke kowos alu nu ke ma sruloala ac orek kisa nu sin god saya in Egypt, yen kowos tuku ac muta we inge? Ya kowos oru ma inge in sifacna kunauskowosla, tuh mutunfacl faclu nufon fah aksruksrukye kowos ac oru inewos in sie mwe selnga?
Why are you making me angry by what you do, burning incense to other gods in Egypt where you have come to live? Because if this you will be destroyed, and will you will become a curse word, an expression of condemnation among all the nations on earth.
9 Ya kowos mulkunla ma koluk nukewa ma mwet matu lowos, ac tokosra lun Judah ac mutan kialos, ac kowos ac mutan kiowos, tuh oru in siti lun Judah ac ke inkanek Jerusalem?
Have you forgotten the evil of your forefathers and the evil of the kings of Judah and the evil of their wives, as well as your own evil and the evil your wives, all practiced in the country of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
10 Nwe misenge, kowos tiana akpusiselyekowosla. Kowos tiana akfulatyeyu ku moul fal nu ke ma sap nga sot nu suwos ac mwet matu lowos.
Even up to now you haven't shown any remorse or reverence. You haven't followed my rules and regulations I gave you and your forefathers.
11 “Ke ma inge, nga, LEUM GOD Kulana, God lun Israel, fah foroht lain kowos ac kunausla facl Judah nufon.
So this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I am determined to bring disaster and to wipe out everyone from Judah.
12 Ac funu ke mwet lula lun Judah su sulela ku selos in som ac muta Egypt, nga ac oru tuh elos nukewa in kunausyukla. Elos nukewa fah misa in Egypt ke mweun ku sracl — mwet pusisel nwe ke mwet fulat. Elos ac fah sie mwe aksangeng in liye. Mwet uh ac fah aksruksrukelos ac oru tuh inelos in mwe selnga.
I'm going to destroy you who are left who decided to go to Egypt to live there. You will die there, killed by the sword or by famine. Whoever you are, from the least to the most important, you're going to die by sword or by famine; and you will become a curse word, something horrible, an insult, an expression of condemnation.
13 Nga fah kalyaelos su muta in Egypt, in oana ke nga kalyei Jerusalem ke mweun, sracl, ac mas.
I'm going to punish you who live in Egypt like I punished Jerusalem, by war and famine and disease.
14 Wangin sin mwet lula lun Judah su tuku nu Egypt in muta we, ac fah kaingla ku moulla. Wangin selos ac folokla nu Judah, yen se elos asroela ac kena in sifilpa muta we. Wangin mwet fah folokla, sayen mwet na pu su ac kaingla.”
Nobody who is left from Judah who has gone to live in Egypt will escape or survive to return to the country of Judah. You long to go back and live there, but nobody will return except a few stragglers.
15 Na mukul nukewa ma etu lah mutan kialos orek kisa nu sin god saya, ac mutan nukewa su tu we, weang mwet Judah su muta layen eir in Egypt — sie u na lulap — elos fahk nu sik,
All the men who knew that their wives were burning incense to other gods, and all the women who were there, a great crowd of people, those living in Egypt and Upper Egypt all told Jeremiah,
16 “Kut tia lungse porongo ma kom fahk nu sesr ke Inen LEUM GOD.
“Even though you say this message is from the Lord, we're not going to listen to you”
17 Kut ac oru ma nukewa ma kut fahk mu kut ac oru. Kut ac orek kisa nu sin god mutan lasr, Kasra lun Kusrao, ac kut fah okoala mwe kisa wain nu sel, oana ke kut, oayapa mwet matu lasr, tokosra lasr ac mwet kol las, tuh oru in siti lun Judah ac inkanek Jerusalem. Pukanten mwe mongo nasr in pacl sac. Wo ouiyasr, ac wangin ma upa nu sesr.
In fact we're going to do everything we said we would. We'll burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and offer drink offerings to worship her as we did before, just like our fathers, our kings, and our officials who did the same things in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. Back then we had plenty of food and we were well off and nothing bad happened to us.
18 Tusruktu tukunna kut tila orek kisa nu sin Kasra lun Kusrao, ac tila okwok wain in kisa nu sel, na wanginla ma lasr, ac mwet lasr misa ke mweun ac sracl.”
But ever since we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring out drink offerings to worship her, we've lost everything and have been dying as a result of war and famine.
19 Na mutan ah oayapa fahk, “Pacl kut manman cake ac orala lumah uh in oana Kasra lun Kusrao, ac orek kisa nu sel ac okwok mwe kisa wain nu sel, mukul tumasr elos akkeye kut na in ma kut oru.”
“On top of that,” the women added, “when we burned incense to the Queen of Heaven and poured out drink offerings to worship her, did we do this without our husbands knowing about it, that we baked cakes stamped with her image and poured out drink offerings to worship her?”
20 Na nga fahk nu sin mukul ac mutan nukewa su topukyu ouinge,
Jeremiah replied to all the people, both men and women, who were responding to him,
21 “Ya kowos nunku mu LEUM GOD El tia etu, ku El mulkunla ke kowos ac mwet matu lowos, tokosra lowos, mwet kol lowos, ac mwet nukewa lun Judah elos oru mwe kisa in siti lun Judah ac inkanek Jerusalem?
“About that incense you burned to other gods in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, as well as your fathers, your kings, your officials, and the ordinary people—don't you think the Lord wouldn't remember and think about it?
22 Misenge, facl suwos oan musalla, ac wangin mwet muta we. Acn we ekla sie acn ma mwet uh sangeng kac, ac mwet uh orekmakin inen acn suwos mwe selnga, mweyen LEUM GOD El tia ku in muteng orekma srungayuk ac koluk ma kowos oru.
The Lord couldn't take it anymore—the evil things you did and your disgusting acts—so your country was turned into an uninhabited wasteland, a place of horror and a curse word to others, as it still is today.
23 Mwe ongoiya inge nukewa tuku nu fowos mweyen kowos orek kisa nu sin god saya ac orekma koluk lain LEUM GOD ke kowos tia akos ma nukewa ma El sapkin.”
As you can see today, the disaster you've experienced happened because you burned incense to other gods and sinned against the Lord, refusing to listen to the Lord or to follow his instructions, his rules, and his regulations.”
24 Jeremiah el fahk nu sin mukul ac mutan nukewa, “Lohng kas lun LEUM GOD, kowos nukewa mwet Judah su muta in acn Egypt.
Then Jeremiah told everyone, including all the women, “Listen to the Lord's message, all you people from Judah living here in Egypt.
25 Ouinge LEUM GOD Kulana, God lun Israel, El fahk, “Kowos ac mutan kiowos tuh sifacna fahkla ke oaluwos ac akpwayei ke orekma lun pouwos, lah kowos ac orek kisa nu sin Kasra lun Kusrao ac okwok mwe kisa wain nu sel. Kwal, oru oana ma kowos wulela kac!
This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: You and your wives, you've said what you're going to do, and you've done what you said! You said, ‘We're going to keep our promise to burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and to pour out drink offerings to worship her.’ So go ahead! Do what you've said! Keep your promises!
26 Tusruktu, inge kowos porongo fulahk se su nga, LEUM GOD, orala ke Ine fulat luk nu suwos mwet Judah nukewa in facl Egypt. Nga fah tia sifil lela kutena suwos in orekmakin Inek in fulahk kac ac fahk, ‘Nga fulahk ke Inen LEUM GOD moul Fulatlana!’
But even so, listen to what the Lord says, all you people from Judah living here in Egypt: I guarantee by all that I am, says the Lord, that none of you living in the Egypt will ever use my name or swear, ‘As the Lord God lives.’
27 Nga ac tiana lela kowos in kapkapak, a nga ac lela in kunausyukla kowos. Kowos nukewa fah misa — kutu ke mweun ac kutu ke sracl — nwe ke na tia sie suwos lula.
I will take care of them in the bad sense, and not in the good sense. All the people from Judah who are in Egypt will die by sword or famine, until they are wiped out.
28 Tusruktu mwet pu na suwos fah tia misa, a elos ac folokla liki acn Egypt nu Judah. Na mwet ma moulla inge ac fah etu lah kas lun su pwaye — kas luk uh ku kas lalos.
Those who manage to avoid being killed by the sword will go back to Judah from Egypt. But there will only be a few of them, and then all who were left from Judah and went to live in Egypt will know who's telling the truth—me or them!
29 Nga, LEUM GOD, ac fah oru sie akul in akpwayeye nu suwos lah nga fah kalyei kowos in acn se inge, oayapa lah wulela luk in kunauskowosla ac fah akpwayeiyuk pac:
This is your sign to prove that I'm going to punish you here, declares the Lord, so that you'll know for certain that my threats against you will really happen.
30 Nga fah eisalang Tokosra Hophra lun Egypt nu sin mwet lokoalok lal su kena unilya, in oana ke nga tuh eisalang Tokosra Zedekiah lun Judah nu sel Tokosra Nebuchadnezzar lun Babylonia, mwet lokoalok lal su kena unilya.”
This is what the Lord says: Look! I'm going to hand over Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt to his enemies who are trying to kill him, in the same way that I handed over Zedekiah king of Judah to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, his enemy who was trying to kill him.”
