< Jeremiah 2 >

1 LEUM GOD El fahk nu sik
Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
2 in sulkakin mwe fahkak se inge nu sin mwet nukewa in Jerusalem. “Nga esam lupan pwaye ac oaru lom nu sik ke kom srakna mutan fusr, Fuka lupan lungse lom nu sik ke kut tufahna payukyak. Kom tuh fahsrna tukuk in acn mwesis, Sie acn ma soenna oasr ma yok we.
Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness, in a land [that was] not sown.
3 Israel, kom tuh sriyukla in ma na luk; Kom sie ma mutal nu sik mukena. Nga fah supu mwe keok ac mwe ongoiya Nu faclos nukewa su akkeokye kom. Nga, LEUM GOD, pa fahk ma inge.”
Israel [was] holiness unto the LORD, [and] the firstfruits of his increase: all that devour him shall offend; evil shall come upon them, saith the LORD.
4 Porongo mwe fahkak lun LEUM GOD, kowos fwilin tulik natul Jacob ac sruf lun Israel.
Hear ye the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel:
5 LEUM GOD El fahk: “Ma koluk fuka papa matu tomowos ah konauk in nga? Efu ku elos forla likiyu? Elos alu nu ke ma sruloala ma wangin sripa, Oru elos ekla pac mwet wangin sripa.
Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?
6 Elos tiana nunku keik, Nga ne molelosla liki acn Egypt Ac kololosme sasla yen mwesis; Sie acn turangang ac pukanten luf we, Sie acn pao ac facl in misa, Yen wangin mwet muta we Ac wangin pac mwet fufahsryesr we.
Neither said they, Where [is] the LORD that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought, and of the shadow of death, through a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt?
7 Nga usalosme nu in sie facl kasrup ac wo fohk we, Elos in insewowo ke kosrani we ac ke ma wo pac saya. A elos tuh akkolukyela facl sik; Elos akfohkfokyela facl se su nga sang nu selos.
And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination.
8 Mwet tol elos tiana siyuk, ‘LEUM GOD El oasr oya?’ Elos su sasla ke ma sap elos tia eteyu. Mwet kol elos tuyak lainyu. Mwet palu kaskas ke inen Baal, Ac alu nu ke ma sruloala lusrongten.
The priests said not, Where [is] the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after [things that] do not profit.
9 “Ouinge nga, LEUM GOD, fah akkalemye ma nga lain kowos kac. Nga fah tia tui in lain fwilin tulik nutuwos.
Wherefore I will yet plead with you, saith the LORD, and with your children’s children will I plead.
10 Som nu layen roto, nu ke tuka Cyprus, Ac supwala sie mwet nu layen kutulap nu in facl Kedar. Kowos fah liye lah wangin kain inge nu sikyak meet.
For pass over the isles of Chittim, and see; and send unto Kedar, and consider diligently, and see if there be such a thing.
11 Wangin sie mutunfacl nu aolla god la uh, God inge finne tia god pwaye. A mwet luk uh tuh sisyula, God se su akwoyalos, Ac elos forla nu ke god ma tia ku in oru kutena ma nu selos.
Hath a nation changed [their] gods, which [are] yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for [that which] doth not profit.
12 Ke ma inge nga sapkin yen engyeng uh in rarrarak ke mwe aksangeng, In fwefela ac oela,
Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD.
13 Tuh mwet luk elos orala ma koluk luo: Elos forla likiyu, Nga su unon in kof loslos nu selos, Ac elos pukanak lufin kof — Lufin kof su wohn ac tia ku in sruokya kof.
For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, [and] hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
14 “Israel el tia sie mwet kohs; Tia osweyukla el nu ke moul in kohs. Na efu ku mwet lokoalok lal suk in sruokilya?
[Is] Israel a servant? [is] he a homeborn [slave]? why is he spoiled?
15 Elos kouyak nu sel oana pusren lion uh. Elos kunausla facl sel, oan mwesasla, Ac siti we musalla ac wanginla mwet muta we.
The young lions roared upon him, [and] yelled, and they made his land waste: his cities are burned without inhabitant.
16 Aok, mwet Memphis ac Tahpanhes Elos fukulya sri in ahlunsifal.
Also the children of Noph and Tahapanes have broken the crown of thy head.
17 Israel, kom na pa sifacna oru in upa nu sum! Kom sisyula, LEUM GOD lom, Ke nga tuh pwen kom inkanek uh.
Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, when he led thee by the way?
18 Ya oasr ma ac wo nu sum kom fin som nu Egypt In nim kof ke Infacl Nile? Ya oasr ma ac wo nu sum kom fin som nu Assyria In nim kof ke Infacl Euphrates?
And now what hast thou to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? or what hast thou to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river?
19 Ma koluk lom sifacna ac fah kai kom, Ac forla lom likiyu fah liskomla. Kom ac fah akilen lah sie ma na koluk ac mwen Pa in sisla LEUM GOD lom, Ac tila inse pwaye nu sik. Nga, LEUM GOD Fulatlana ac Kulana, pa fahk ma inge.”
Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that [it is] an evil [thing] and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear [is] not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
20 LEUM GOD Fulatlana El fahk, “Israel, kom nuna srunga na muta ye ku luk oemeet me. Kom tiana akosyu ku alu nu sik. Fin mangon eol nukewa, Ac ye sak folfol nukewa Kom tuh alu nu ke god eslap uh.
For of old time I have broken thy yoke, [and] burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree thou wanderest, playing the harlot.
21 Nga yukwikomi oana soko fain sacnsan Ke fita ma wo oemeet. Na liye ma kom ekla nu kac inge! Kom oana soko fain kolukla ac wanginla sripa.
Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me?
22 Kom finne oulkomla ke soap na ku Nga ac srakna liye tuhn fohkfok lun ma koluk lom.
For though thou wash thee with nitre, and take thee much soap, [yet] thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord GOD.
23 Efu ku kom ku in fahk mu kom tiana aktaekye monum, Ac fahk mu kom tiana wi alu nu sel Baal? Esam lupan ma koluk kom oru infahlfal uh; Ngetang liye ma kom orala inge. Kom oana soko camel mutan lemnak Ma yuwot yume sukok camel mukul,
How canst thou say, I am not polluted, I have not gone after Baalim? see thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done: [thou art] a swift dromedary traversing her ways;
24 Sasang nu in yen turangang uh. In pacl el ouinge uh, su ac ku in kutongilya? Camel mukul ma lungse el uh fah tia enenu in sokol, Mweyen el pa ac sokolos.
A wild ass used to the wilderness, [that] snuffeth up the wind at her pleasure; in her occasion who can turn her away? all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.
25 Israel, nimet aktotoye niom, Ku lela in paola kapinsrulyom Ke ukweyen god ngia. A kom fahk, ‘Mo! Nga tia ku in forla. Nga lungse god saya uh, ac nga fah ukwalos.’”
Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.
26 LEUM GOD El fahk, “Oana ke sie mwet pisrapasr el ac mwekinla ke ac sruhu el, kowos mwet Israel nukewa ac fah mwekinla pac — tokosra, mwet fulat, mwet tol ac mwet palu lowos.
As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets,
27 Kowos nukewa ac fah mwekinla — kowos su fahk mu sak soko pa papa tomowos ac eot se pa nina kiowos. Ma inge ac sikyak mweyen kowos forla likiyu ac tia nget nu sik. Tusruktu ke pacl se kowos ac sun ongoiya, na kowos ac siyuk nga in tuku ac molikowosla.
Saying to a stock, Thou [art] my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned [their] back unto me, and not [their] face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.
28 “Pia god ma kowos sifacna taflela nu suwos uh? Pacl kowos ac sun ongoiya, lela elos in molikowosla, elos fin ku! Arulana pusla god lowos, oana pisen siti in acn Judah.
But where [are] thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for [according to] the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.
29 Mea kowos torkaskas kac uh? Efu kowos orekma koluk na lainyu?
Wherefore will ye plead with me? ye all have transgressed against me, saith the LORD.
30 Nga tuh kai kowos, tusruk wanginna sripa mweyen kowos tia lela nga in luti kowos. Kowos uniya mwet palu lowos, oana soko lion sulallal.
In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own sword hath devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.
31 Mwet Israel, porongo ma nga fahk uh. Ya nga oana sie acn mwesis nu suwos, oana sie acn lohsr ac sensen? Na efu kowos ku fahk mu kowos ac oru oana lungse lowos, ac kowos ac tiana foloko nu yuruk?
O generation, see ye the word of the LORD. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? a land of darkness? wherefore say my people, We are lords; we will come no more unto thee?
32 Ya sie mutan fusr ku in mulkunla mwe naweyuk lal, ku sie mutan akola in marut ku in mulkunla nuknuk in marut lal? Tia ku. Tusruktu nga tia ku in oakla pisen len mwet luk uh mulkinyula.
Can a maid forget her ornaments, [or] a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.
33 Kom arulana etu in konauk mukul kom lungse orek pwar se. Finne mutan koluk se, el ku in lutlut sum.
Why trimmest thou thy way to seek love? therefore hast thou also taught the wicked ones thy ways.
34 Nuknuk lom tuhnla ke srahn mwet sukasrup su wangin mwata, tia ke srahn mwet pisrapasr. “Tusruktu finne ma inge nukewa orek,
Also in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents: I have not found it by secret search, but upon all these.
35 a kom srakna fahk mu, ‘Wangin mwetik! LEUM GOD El tiana kasrkusrak sik.’ Tusruktu nga, LEUM GOD, fah kai kom mweyen kom lafwekin lah kom orekma koluk.
Yet thou sayest, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with thee, because thou sayest, I have not sinned.
36 Efu ku arulana fisrasr sum in ikikil nunak lom? Kom ac toasrla sin Egypt, oana ke kom tuh toasrla sin Assyria.
Why gaddest thou about so much to change thy way? thou also shalt be ashamed of Egypt, as thou wast ashamed of Assyria.
37 Kom ac fah forla liki Egypt, ac suwoli ke mwekin. Nga, LEUM GOD, siselosla su kom lulalfongi. Wangin kutena ma wo kom ac eis selos.”
Yea, thou shalt go forth from him, and thine hands upon thine head: for the LORD hath rejected thy confidences, and thou shalt not prosper in them.
