< Isaiah 36 >

1 In yac aksingoul akosr ke Hezekiah el tokosra lun Judah, Sennacherib, Tokosra Fulat lun Assyria, el mweuni siti nukewa lun Judah ma potiyukyak, ac eisla.
In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib, king of Assyria, came up against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.
2 Na el sap sie mwet kol fulat lal in som liki Lachish nu Jerusalem ac us sie un mwet mweun lulap, in sap Tokosra Hezekiah elan srasrapo ac tia mweun. Mwet leum se inge el som muta ke inkanek yen mwet orek nuknuk muta we, sisken laf ma use kof liki lulu se ma oan tafunyen lucng.
And the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem, with a great army, against King Hezekiah, and he halted at the aqueduct of the upper pool, in the highway to the fuller's field.
3 Mwet Judah tolu tufokme in sonol — elos pa Eliakim wen natul Hilkiah, su mwet liyaung inkul sin tokosra; Shebna, mwet sim ke inkul sin tokosra; ac Joah wen natul Asaph, su liyaung ma simusla.
Then came forth to him Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, who was over the palace, and Shebna the scribe, and Josh, the son of Asaph, the annalist.
4 Na mwet kol fulat lun mwet Assyria el fahk nu seltal lah Tokosra Fulat el ke etu lah mea Tokosra Hezekiah el kukin uh.
And Rabshakeh said to them, Say ye to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria: What a confidence is this which thou cherishest!
5 El fahk ouinge, “Ku kowos nunku mu kas uh ku in sang alein ku lulap ac pisrla ke mweun? Su kowos lulalfongi mu ac kasrekowos lain acn Assyria?
Thou sayest, (but it is vain talk, ) “I have counsel and strength for war.” In whom, then, dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?
6 Kowos lulalfongi mu acn Egypt ac kasrekowos, tuh fin ouinge ac oana ke kowos sikalkin loa — ac mau kaptelik ac kanteya pouwos. Pa ingan luman tokosra lun Egypt nu sin mwet su tupan kasru sel uh.”
Behold, thou trustest in that broken reed-staff, Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will pierce his hand, and go through it. Such is Pharaoh, king of Egypt, to all that trust in him.
7 Na mwet kol fulat sac lun mwet Assyria el tafwela ac fahk, “Ku kowos ac fahk nu sik lah kowos ac lulalfongi na LEUM GOD lowos? Nien alu sin LEUM GOD ac loang lal pa Hezekiah el tuh kunausla ke el fahk nu sin mwet Judah ac Jerusalem elos in alu ke loang sefanna.
But if ye say to me, “We trust in Jehovah, our God,”—is it not he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem to worship before this altar?
8 Nga ac oru sie pwapa nu suwos inen Tokosra Fulat. Nga ac sot nu suwos tausin luo ke horse kowos fin ku in konauk pisen mwet ma ac fal in kasrusr fac.
Engage, now, with my master, the king of Assyria! and I will give thee two thousand horses, when thou art able to provide for thyself riders for them.
9 Finne mwet ma srik emeet wal la sin mwet leum lun Assyria, kowos tia apkuran in lainulos. Ne ouinge kowos finsrak mu mwet Egypt ac supwama chariot ac mwet kasrusr fin horse nu suwos.
How, then, canst thou resist a single captain, one of the least of the servants of my master? Yet thou trustest in Egypt, on account of her chariots and her horsemen.
10 Ya kowos nunku mu nga mweuni facl suwos ac kunausla sayen kasru sin LEUM GOD? LEUM GOD sifacna El fahk nu sik in mweuni ac kunausla.”
And am I now come up without Jehovah against this land to destroy it? Jehovah hath said to me, “Go up against this land and destroy it!”
11 Na Eliakim, Shebna ac Joah fahk nu sin mwet kol sac, “Kaskas nu sesr ke kas Aramaic. Kut kalem na kac. Nimet kas Hebrew — mwet nukewa fin pot uh lohng na ma kom fahk an.”
Then said Eliakim and Shebna and Josh to Rabshakeh: Speak, we beseech thee, to thy servants in the Aramaic language, for we understand it; and speak not to us in the Jewish language, in the hearing of the people that are upon the wall.
12 Ac el topuk, “Mea, komtal nunku mu komtal ac tokosra mukena pa Tokosra Fulat el supweyume ngan fahk ma inge nu se uh? Mo, nga tuku in fahk pac nu sin mwet ma muta fin pot uh, su ac fah kang fohk lalos ac nim kifwalos oana ke kowos ac mau oru uh.”
But Rabshakeh said, Hath my master sent me to speak these words to thy master and to thee only, and not to the people who sit upon the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own urine with you?
13 Na mwet kol fulat sac tuyak ac wowoyak ke kas Hebrew, “Lohng ma Tokosra Fulat lun Assyria el fahk nu suwos.
Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jewish language, and said, Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.
14 El sensenkakin kowos tuh kowos in tia lela Hezekiah elan kiapwekowos. Hezekiah el tia ku in molikowosla.
Thus saith the king: Let not Hezekiah deceive you, for he will not be able to deliver you.
15 Ac nimet lela elan furokkowosla in lulalfongi ke LEUM GOD. Nimet nunku mu LEUM GOD El ac molikowos, ac sikulya un mwet mweun lun Assyria in tia sruokya siti suwos an.
And let not Hezekiah persuade you to trust in Jehovah, saying, “Jehovah will certainly deliver us. This city shall not be delivered into the hands of the king of Assyria.”
16 Nimet lohngol Hezekiah! Tokosra Fulat lun Assyria el sap kowos in ilme liki siti an ac srasrapo. Kowos nukewa ac filfilla in mongo grape ke ima lowos sifacna ac fig ke sak sunowos sifacna, ac in nim kof ke lufin kof lowos sifacna —
Hearken not to Hezekiah; for thus saith the king of Assyria: Make peace with me, and come out to me; and ye shall every one eat of his own vine, and every one of his own fig-tree, and ye shall every one drink the waters of his own cistern,
17 nwe ke na Tokosra Fulat lasr el sifilpa oaki kowos in sie facl ma oapana acn suwos, acn ma oasr ima in grape in orala wain, ac wheat mwe orek bread.
until I come, and take you to a land like your own land; a land of corn, and of new wine, a land of bread and of vineyards.
18 Nimet lela Hezekiah elan kiapwekowos in nunku mu LEUM GOD El ac molikowosla. Ya god lun mutunfacl saya uh nu molelosla liki poun Tokosra Fulat lun Assyria?
Be not persuaded by Hezekiah, when he saith, “Jehovah will deliver us.” Have the gods of the nations delivered every one his own land from the hand of the king of Assyria? Where are the gods of Hamath and of Arphad?
19 God lun Hamath ac Arpad elos oasr oya inge? Ac pia god lun Sepharvaim? Ya oasr selos tuh molela acn Samaria?
Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? And did the gods deliver Samaria from my hand?
20 Ya oasr pacl se sie sin god lun mutunfacl inge nu molelosla liki Tokosra Fulat lasr uh? Na mea se oru kowos in nunku mu LEUM GOD El ku in molela acn Jerusalem?”
Who is there among all the gods of these lands, that hath delivered his land out of my hand, that Jehovah should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?
21 Mwet uh mislana tia kas, oana ke Tokosra Hezekiah el sapkin nu selos. Elos tiana topuk sie kas.
But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word; for the king's command was, “Answer him not.”
22 Na Eliakim, Shebna ac Joah seya nuknuk lalos ke asor, ac som fahkak nu sin tokosra ma mwet kol fulat lun Assyria el fahk ah.
Then came Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, that was over the palace, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the annalist, to Hezekiah, with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
