< Isaiah 28 >
1 We nu sin tokosrai lun Israel! Wolana lal efla oana losr ma oan fin sifen mwet kol sruhi lalos. Insuf filang lalos onola keng na, tusruktu elos sruhilana oan ac tia etalos.
Alas! for the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim, And for his fading wreath of majestic beauty, —Which is on the head of the fertile valley, of them who are overcome with wine.
2 Leum El akoela tari sie su ku ac fokoko in mweun nu selos — sie su fah tuku oana sie paka in af na yohk kosra, oana sie af matol ma oana sie sronot fungme ac afunla acn uh.
Lo! My Lord hath one who is, strong and bold, Like a storm of hail, a destroying tempest, Like a storm of mighty waters overflowing, Hath he thrust it down to the earth with force:
3 Filang lun mwet kol sruhi lalos ac fah lolongyuki.
With the feet shall be trodden down, the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim,
4 Wolana lun mwet kol filang lalos fah wanginla, oana fahko se meet ke sak fig ke pacl la, sifeyukyak ac mongola ke tufahna mwesrla.
So shall his fading wreath of majestic beauty, Which is on the head of the fertile valley, become—Like the first-ripe fig before fruit-harvest, Which when he that looketh upon it seeth while it is yet in his hand, he swalloweth it up.
5 Sie len ac tuku ke LEUM GOD Kulana El ac fah oana sie losr wolana nu sin mwet lal su moulla.
In that day, will Yahweh of hosts become A crown of beauty, and A diadem of majesty, —Unto the remnant of his people:
6 El ac fah sang ngunin nununku suwohs nu sin mwet nununku, ac akpulaikyalos su liyaung mutunpot lun siti in lain mwet lokoalok.
Even a spirit of justice—to him that presideth over justice, And strength to them who would turn back the battle at the gate.
7 Finne mwet palu ac mwet tol, elos arulana sruhi, oru elos fahsr tukulkul. Yokla nim wain ac mwe nim ku, oru elos nukanulosla ac fahsr toptop. Mwet palu elos arulana sruhi ac tia kalem ke aruruma ma God El supu, ac mwet tol elos arulana sruhi ac tia ku in oru nununku suwohs nu ke mwe elya lun mwet uh.
But as for these, With wine, do they reel, and With strong drink, do they stagger, —Priest and prophet, reel with strong drink They are swallowed up through wine They stagger through strong drink, They reel in prophetic vision, They totter in pronouncing judgment.
8 Tepu ma elos muta kac afla ke woht, ac wangin acn nasnas lula fac.
For, all tables, are full of filthy vomit, —There is no place!
9 Elos torkaskas keik ac fahk, “Ku El nunku mu su El luti uh? Su enenu kas lal? Ma na nu sin tulik fusr ma tufahna liktitla!
Whom, would he teach knowledge? And, whom, would he cause to understand the message? Them who are weaned from the milk? taken from the breasts?
10 Ma na fisrasr pa El luti nu sesr: El kalweni kais sie leta, lain nu ke lain, mwe luti nu ke mwe luti.”
For it is—Precept upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, —A little here a little there.
11 Kowos fin tia porongeyu, na God El ac supwaot kutu mwetsac su orekmakin kas sakirik ma kowos tia kalem kac in luti kowos.
For, with a jabbering lip, and with an alien tongue, must he speak unto this people!
12 El kena akwoye kowos ac sot mongla nu suwos nukewa, a kowos srunga porongal.
To whom he said—This, is the rest—give ye rest to the weary, and This, is the quietness, —But they were unwilling to hear.
13 Pa pwanang LEUM GOD El ac kalweni kais sie leta, lain nu ke lain, ac mwe luti nu ke mwe luti. Na kowos fah tukulkul yen nukewa kowos fahsr we. Kowos ac fah kinkineta, sremla ke kwasrip, ac utukla nu in sruoh.
So the word of Yahweh must be to them—Precept upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, A little here, a little there, —That they may go and fall backward and be torn and snared and captured.
14 Inge, kowos mwet enum su leum fin mwet inge in acn Jerusalem, porongo ma LEUM GOD El fahk.
Wherefore, hear ye the word of Yahweh, Ye men who scoff, —Ye rulers of this people that is in Jerusalem.
15 Kowos konkin mu kowos orala sie wuleang yurin misa, ac kowos insesela yurin mwet in facl sin mwet misa. Kowos nunku mu mwe ongoiya ac fah aliki kowos ke pacl se ac tuku, mweyen kowos lulalfongi ke kikiap ac kutasrik lowos in loangekowos. (Sheol )
Because ye have said—We have solemnised a covenant with death, And with hades, have we effected a vision, —The overflowing scourge when it sweepeth by, shall not reach unto us, For we have made lying our refuge. And in falsehood, have we hid ourselves, (Sheol )
16 Pa inge ma LEUM GOD Fulatlana El fahk: “Nga likiya sie pwelung in Zion ma oakwuki ku. Nga filiya sie eot insruwasrik saok ac ku kac, ac kas inge simla fac: ‘Lulalfongi se su ku el oayapa mongfisrasr.’
Therefore, Thus, saith My Lord, Yahweh, Behold me! founding in Zion a stone, A stone of testing, The costly corner of a well-laid foundation, he that trusteth, shall not make haste!
17 Nununku suwohs pa mwe srikasrak nu fin pwelung uh, ac pwaya pa mwe srikasrak nu ke siska ah, tenyak nu lucng.” Af yohk kosra fah pokla kikiap nukewa ma kowos lulalfongi, ac sronot ac fah kunausla acn kowos lulalfongi in wikla we.
But I will make—Justice the line, and Righteousness the plummet, —And the hail shall, sweep away, your refuge of lying, And your hiding-place, the waters shall overflow;
18 Wuleang ma kowos orala yurin misa ac fah sisila, ac insesela lowos yurin mwet in facl lun misa fah ikilyukla wanginla ku la. Ke mwe ongoiya lulap ac tuhme, ac fah afinkowosi ac kunauskowosla. (Sheol )
So shall be wiped out your covenant with death, And your vision with hades, not stand, —When the overflowing scourge, sweepeth past, then shall ye be thereby beaten down: (Sheol )
19 Ac fah kalkalwen in pokkowosla ke lotutang nukewa. Kowos ac fah keokkin ke len ac fong. Kais sie kas sin God me ac fah mwe aksangeng yohk nu suwos!
As often as it sweepeth past, it shall take you away, For morning by morning, shall it pass along. By day and by night, —And it shall be nothing less than a terror to make out the message;
20 Kowos ac fah oana mukul se in soakas se inge: mwe oan kial fototola elan asrosrelik fac, ac kaot lal oasriksrikla elan afinilya kac.
For too short is the couch to stretch oneself out, —And, the coverlet, too narrow, when one draweth up his feet.
21 LEUM GOD El ac fah mweun in oana El tuh oru Fineol Perazim ac infahlfal lun Gibeon, Elan ku in orala ma El nunku in oru, finne mukuikui lal uh sie liki na ma mwet uh tawi. El fah aksafye orekma lal su mwet uh tia ku in kalem kac.
For as in Mount Perazim, will Yahweh, arise, As in the vale of Gibeon, will he be stirred, —To do his work—foreign is his work, And to perform his task—strange is his task.
22 Nimet isrun kas in sensenkakin nga sot nu suwos! Kowos fin isrun, ac fah upala nu suwos in kaingkunla. Nga lohng pwapa lun LEUM GOD Kulana in kunausla mutunfacl nufon se inge.
Now, therefore do not show yourselves scoffers, Lest your fetters, be bound fast, —For, of a full end, and that a decreed one, have I heard from My Lord, Yahweh of hosts upon all the land
23 Porongo ma nga fahk uh, ac lohang nu ke ma nga fahk nu suwos.
Give ear, and hear ye my voice, —Hearken, and hear ye my speech: —
24 Wangin mwet ima kalwenina in akfisrasrye acn in ima lal ac tia yukwiya.
All day long, doth the plowman plow for sowing? Doth he continue laying open and harrowing his soil?
25 Ke pacl se el akoela fohk uh wo, na el yukwiya fiten mahsrik oana dill ac cumin. El yukwi tah in wheat ac barley, ac ke sisken ima lal el yukwi kutu pac kain fita.
Doth he not when he hath levelled the face thereof, Cast abroad the fennel? And, the cummin, doth he not scatter? And plant wheat in rows, And barley in a lot, And spelt in the border thereof?
26 El etu lah el ac oru orekma lal fuka, mweyen God El lotel.
Yea One hath trained him to good judgment, His God, directeth him.
27 El tia orekmakin sak toasr in puokla fiten dill ku fiten cumin; a el orekmakin sak mulala ac fal lupa.
For not with a sledge, must, black coriander be threshed, Nor must, the wheel of a cart, on cummin, be turned, But with a staff, must fennel be beaten, And cummin with a rod:
28 El ac tia puok na puok wheat uh nwe ke na mukutkuti, a el etu lah el ac srungulla kolo uh ke el patok sie mwe wiwa fac in mau tia itungya wheat uh.
Bread-corn, must be crushed, —Yet would he not be evermore, threshing, it, So he hasteneth over it the wheel of his cart, with his horsemen, He crusheth it not!
29 Lalmwetmet inge nukewa tuku sin LEUM GOD Kulana. Lemlem ma God El oru uh lalmwetmet, ac pacl nukewa safla tuh na wo.
Even this, from Yahweh of hosts, cometh forth, —Who hath bestowed distinction upon counsel, And magnified sound wisdom.
