Hosea 4

Hear the word of the LORD, O children of Israel, for the LORD has a case against the people of the land: “There is no truth, no loving devotion, and no knowledge of God in the land!

Cursing and lying, murder and stealing, and adultery are rampant; one act of bloodshed follows another.

Therefore the land mourns, and all who dwell in it will waste away with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air; even the fish of the sea disappear.
4 LEUM GOD El fahk, “Kowos in tia sufan kutena mwet ku kaelos — kowos mwet tol pa nga lain uh.
But let no man contend; let no man offer reproof; for your people are like those who contend with a priest.
5 Kowos tukulkul na ke len ac fong, ac mwet palu elos oapana kowos, tukulkul na. Nga fah kunausla Israel, su nina kiowos.
You will stumble by day, and the prophet will stumble with you by night; so I will destroy your mother—

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you as My priests. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.
7 “Ke pisen mwet tol uh puseni, ma koluk lainyu uh yokelik pac; ke ma inge nga fah ekulla fulat lowos nu ke mwekin.
The more they multiplied, the more they sinned against Me; they exchanged their Glory for a thing of disgrace.
8 Kowos kasrupi ke sripen ma koluk lun mwet luk, ouinge kowos lungse tuh ma koluk lalos in yokelik na.
They feed on the sins of My people and set their hearts on iniquity.
9 Mwe kai nu sin mwet uh ac fah orek pac nu suwos. Nga fah kai kowos ac kowos fah eis molin ma koluk lowos.
And it shall be like people, like priest. I will punish both of them for their ways and repay them for their deeds.
10 Kowos fah mongo ac tia kihpi. Kowos fah orek kosro ke nien alu lun mwet pegan in oasr tulik nutuwos, tuh ac fah wangin tulik nutuwos, mweyen kowos forla likiyu in fahsr tukun god saya.”
They will eat but not be satisfied; they will be promiscuous but not multiply. For they have stopped obeying the LORD.
11 LEUM GOD El fahk, “Wain mah ac wain sasu, kewa na akwelye nunak lun mwet luk.
Promiscuity, wine, and new wine take away understanding.
12 Elos sukok kas in kasru sin sie polosak! Ac elos nunku mu soko sikal sak ku in fahk nu selos ma elos ke etu. Elos sisyula. Oana sie mutan su orek kosro ac eis molin kosro lal, elos eisalosyang sifacna nu sin god ngia.
My people consult their wooden idols, and their divining rods inform them. For a spirit of prostitution leads them astray and they have played the harlot against their God.
13 Elos oru kisa lalos ke nien alyalu fin mangon eol uh, ac esukak mwe keng yen lullul ye sak lulap fin inging uh. “Ke ma inge acn nutuwos elos orek kosro in eis molo, ac mutan kien wen nutuwos elos orek kosro.
They sacrifice on the mountaintops and burn offerings on the hills, under oak, poplar, and terebinth, because their shade is pleasant. And so your daughters turn to prostitution and your daughters-in-law to adultery.
14 Tusruk, nga ac fah tia kaelos ke ma elos oru inge, mweyen kowos sifacna fahsri mutan kosro ke nien alu lun mwet pegan ac orek kisa yorolos. Oana soakas se ma fahk mu, ‘Mutanfahl se ma wangin etauk la ac fah musalla.’
I will not punish your daughters when they prostitute themselves, nor your daughters-in-law when they commit adultery. For the men themselves go off with prostitutes and offer sacrifices with shrine prostitutes. So a people without understanding will come to ruin.
15 “Kowos mwet Israel finne tia inse pwaye nu sik, lela mwet Judah in tia tafongla ke lumah sac pacna. Nimet alu in acn Gilgal ku Bethaven, ku orek wulela we ke Inen LEUM GOD moul.
Though you prostitute yourself, O Israel, may Judah avoid such guilt! Do not journey to Gilgal, do not go up to Beth-aven, and do not swear on oath, ‘As surely as the LORD lives!’
16 Mwet Israel elos srangesr lohng kas oana soko cow fusr. Nga ac ku in kitalos fuka oana sheep fusr in imae?
For Israel is as obstinate as a stubborn heifer. Can the LORD now shepherd them like lambs in an open meadow?
17 Mwet Israel elos oan ye ku lun ma sruloala. Tari, sang lungse laltal.
Ephraim is joined to idols; leave him alone!

When their liquor is gone, they turn to prostitution; their rulers dearly love disgrace.
19 Elos fah ukyukla oana ke ku lun eng uh okla ma uh, ac elos fah mwekin ke mwe kisa pegan ma elos oru.”
The whirlwind has wrapped them in its wings, and their sacrifices will bring them shame.
