< Habakkuk 1 >
1 Pa inge mwe fahkak su LEUM GOD El akkalemye nu sin mwet palu Habakkuk.
The oracle of which Habakkuk the prophet, had vision:
2 O LEUM GOD, lusa kac pacl nga ac pang in suk kasru na kom fah lohngyu, ac nga ac tung putaka na kom fah molikutla liki mwe keok?
How long, O Yahweh, have I called out, and thou wouldst not hear me? Have I kept crying unto thee of violence, and thou wouldst not save?
3 Efu ku kom oru ngan liye kain in mwe lokoalok inge? Efu ku kom ku in muteng kain orekma sufal inge? Mwe kunausla ac mwe keok rauniyuyak, ac oasr amei ac anwuk orek yen nukewa.
Wherefore shouldst thou let me see iniquity, and, wrong, shouldst let me behold, and, force and violence, be straight before me, —and there should have ever been someone who, contention and strife, would uphold?
4 Ma sap uh munasla ac wanginla sripa, ac nununku suwohs tiana orek. Mwet koluk uh kutangla mwet wo, ouinge nununku suwohs ikilyukelik.
For which cause, benumbed is the law, and there is never any going forth of justice, —for, the lawless, doth circumvent the righteous, for which cause, justice doth go forth perverted?
5 Na LEUM GOD El fahk nu sin mwet lal, “Suiyana mutunfacl su raunikowosyak, ac kowos fah fwefela ke ma kowos liye. Nga ac oru sie ma, ac kowos ac tia lulalfongi ke kowos ac lohngak uh.
Behold ye, among the nations, and look around, Yea stand stock still—stare, —for, a work, is being wrought in your days, ye will not believe, when it is recounted.
6 Nga ac sang ku nu sin mwet Babylonia tuh elos in leumi mutunfacl uh. Mwet inge mwet na sulallal ac irpit. Elos oatula som sasla faclu in kutangla acn saya.
For, behold me! raising up the Chaldeans, the bitter and headlong nation, —that marcheth to the breadths of the earth, to take possession of habitations, not his.
7 Elos akyokyelik sangeng ac tuninfong, ac in nunak fulat lalos elos tiana akilen kutena ma sap sayen ma elos lungse oru.
Awful and fearful, is he, —from himself, his decision and his uprising, proceed.
8 “Horse natulos uh mui liki kosro leopard, ac sulallal liki wolf masrinsralla uh. Mwet kasrusr fin horse lalos tuku yen loesla me. Horse natulos kihling infohk uh. Elos pwesroulme oana luman won eagle ke elos putati in sruokya ma nalos.
Then, swifter than leopards, are his horses, and, more sharply they attack, than evening wolves, and forward have leapt his chargers, —Yea, his chargers, from afar, will come in, they will fly as an eagle hath hastened to devour.
9 “Mwet mweun lalos sikla ac sulallal in anwuk, ac mwet e nukewa elos tuninfongla ke elos ac sikme uh. Pisen mwet elos sruokya uh pukanten oana puhk uh.
Solely for violence, will he come, the intent of their faces, is—To the east! And he hath gathered, as the sand, a captive host;
10 Elos aklusrongtenye tokosra uh ac isrun mwet leum. Wangin pot ku ac ku in sikululosi — elos ac yolsani fohk uh nu pe pot uh, fanyak kac ac eisla acn uh.
And, he, over kings, will make merry, and, nobles, will be a scorn to him: he, at any fortress, will laugh, once he hath heaped up dust, he hath captured it!
11 Na elos ac tuhyak oana eng uh sasla som. Mwet inge oru mu ku lalos uh pa god lalos.”
Then, hath he become arrogant in spirit, and hath committed excess, and so is guilty, —this his violence, is due to his god.
12 O LEUM GOD, nuna kom na pa God oe ke mutawauk ah me. Kom God luk, su mutal ac moul ma pahtpat. LEUM GOD luk ac Mwet Lango luk, kom sulela mwet Babylonia ac sang ku nu selos elos in mau ku in kalyei kut.
Art not, thou, from of old, O Yahweh, my God, my Holy One? Thou diest not! O Yahweh, to judgment, hast thou appointed him, and, O Rock, to correction, hast thou devoted him:
13 Tusruktu, efu ku kom ku in muteng orekma lun mwet koluk inge? Motom arulana mutalla in liye ma koluk, ac kom arulana srunga liye ke mwet uh oru ma koluk. Ke ma inge efu ku kom mislana ke elos kunausla mwet su arulana suwohs lukelos?
[Thou] whose eyes are too pure to look with approval on wrong, to respect oppression, canst not endure, —Wherefore, shouldst thou respect the treacherous? Be silent, when the lawless, swalloweth up, one more righteous than he?
14 Efu ku kom ku in oru mwet uh oana ik uh, ku oana ma orakrak ma wangin leum lalos?
So wouldst thou have made Men, like the fishes of the sea, —like the creeping thing that hath no ruler over it:
15 Mwet Babylonia orekmakin ka in sruokya mwet uh, oana ik uh. Elos amakunulos in nwek natulos, ac sasa ke engankinyen ma elos sruokya!
All of which, with a hook, one bringeth up, raketh together with his drag, and hath gathered with his net, —
16 Elos alyalu pacna nu ke nwek natulos ac orek kisa nu kac, mweyen nwek natulos uh pa sang mwe insewowo nu selos.
On which account, he is glad and exulteth: on which account, he sacrificeth to his Net, and burneth incense to his Drag; because, thereby, rich, is his portion, and his food—fatness!
17 Ya elos ac orekmakinna cutlass natulos nwe tok, ac nuna kunausna mutanfahl uh ac tia pakomuta?
Shall he, on this account, empty his net? And, the continual slaying of nations, deem to be no pity?
