< Genesis 4 >
And Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and brought forth Cain and said, I have gained a man through God.
And she again bore his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
3 In kutu pacl tok, Cain el use kutu fokin ima lal, ac sang tuh in mwe kisa nu sin LEUM GOD.
And it was so after some time that Cain brought of the fruits of the earth a sacrifice to the Lord.
4 Na Abel el use sheep fusr soko ma osweyukla oemeet sin soko sheep natul. El uniya ac sang ip ma wo emeet kac in mwe kisa. LEUM GOD El insewowo sel Abel ac ke mwe kisa lal,
And Abel also brought of the first born of his sheep and of his fatlings, and God looked upon Abel and his gifts,
5 a El tia insewowo sel Cain ac mwe kisa lal. Cain el arulana foloyak, ac ngetnget toasr ke kasrkusrak lal.
but Cain and his sacrifices he regarded not, and Cain was exceedingly sorrowful and his countenance fell.
6 Na LEUM GOD El fahk nu sel Cain, “Efu ku kom kasrkusrak? Efu kom srasrol?
And the Lord God said to Cain, Why are you become very sorrowful and why is your countenance fallen?
El kena leumi kom, tusruktu kom enenu in kutangulla.”
Hast you not sinned if you have brought it rightly, but not rightly divided it? be still, to you shall be his submission, and you shall rule over him.
And Cain said to Abel his brother, Let us go out into the plain; and it came to pass that when they were in the plain Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and killed him.
9 LEUM GOD El siyuk sel Cain, “El aya Abel, tamulel lom?” El topuk, “Nga nikin. Mea, nga mwet in liyaung tamulel luk uh?”
And the Lord God said to Cain, Where is Abel your brother? and he said, I know not, am I my brother's keeper?
10 Na LEUM GOD El fahk, “Efu ku kom oru ma na koluk se inge? Srahn tamulel lom pa wowoyak nu sik infohk uh me, oana sie pusra ma sukok foloksak.
And the Lord said, What have you done? the voice of your brother's blood cries to me out of the ground.
11 Inge kom oan ye sie selnga ac kom fah tia ku in sifilpa imai fohk uh. Fohk uh numwani srahn tamulel lom, oana sie oalu su mangelik soano in numla srahl ke pacl se kom unilya ah.
And now you [are] cursed from the earth which has opened her mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand.
12 Kom fin srike in yok sacn, infohk uh ac fah tia oswe kutena ma. Ac fah wangin acn sum, ac kom fah forfor pukafukwel fin faclu.”
When you till the earth, then it shall not continue to give its strength to you: you shall be groaning and trembling on the earth.
And Cain said to the Lord God, My crime [is] too great for me to be forgiven.
14 Kom lisyula liki acn uh in som loesla liki ye motom. Nga fah sie mwet wangin acn se, takusrkusr fin faclu, ac kutena mwet fin koneyuyak ac uniyuwi.”
If you cast me out this day from the face of the earth, and I shall be hidden from your presence, and I shall be groaning and trembling upon the earth, then it will be that any one that finds me shall kill me.
15 Tusruktu LEUM GOD El fahk, “Mo. Mwet se fin unikomi, moul lun mwet itkosr fah itukla in aolkomla.” Ke ma inge LEUM GOD El filiya sie akul facl Cain in akesmakinye kutena mwet su sonol in tia unilya.
And the Lord God said to him, Not so, any one that slays Cain shall suffer sevenfold vengeance; and the Lord God set a mark upon Cain that no one that found him might kill him.
16 Ac Cain el som liki ye mutun LEUM GOD ac muta in acn se pangpang “Nod,” su oan kutulap in acn Eden.
So Cain went forth from the presence of God and lived in the land of Nod over against Edem.
And Cain knew his wife, and having conceived she bore Enoch; and he built a city; and he named the city after the name of his son, Enoch.
And to Enoch was born Gaidad; and Gaidad begot Maleleel; and Maleleel begot Mathusala; and Mathusala begot Lamech.
19 Oasr mutan luo kial Lamech, eltal pa Adah ac Zillah.
And Lamech took to himself two wives; the name of the one was Ada, and the name of the second Sella.
20 Adah el oswella Jabal, su papa matu tumun mwet tohf kosro ac muta in lohm nuknuk.
And Ada bore Jobel; he was the father of those that dwell in tents, feeding cattle.
21 Tamulel se lal Jabal pa Jubal, ac el papa tumun mwet orek on nukewa su srital ke mwe on harp ac flute.
And the name of his brother was Jubal; he it was who invented the lute and harp.
22 Zillah el oswella Tubal Cain, sie mwet su oru kain in kufwen sroasr nukewa ke osra bronze ac iron. Tamtael se lal Tubal Cain pa Naamah.
And Sella also bore Thobel; he was a smith, a manufacturer both of brass and iron; and the sister of Thobel was Noema.
And Lamech said to his wives, Ada and Sella, Hear my voice, you wives of Lamech, consider my words, because I have slain a man to my sorrow and a youth to my grief.
24 Moul lun mwet itkosr fin itukla in aol misa lal Cain, Na mwet itngoul itkosr ac fah itukla moul la, mwet se fin uniyuwi.”
Because vengeance has been exacted seven times on Cain's behalf, on Lamech's [it shall be] seventy times seven.
25 Adam ac mutan kial oswela sie pac wen.
And Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore a son, and called his name Seth, saying, For God has raised up to me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain killed.
In pacl sac me pa mwet uh mutawauk in orekmakin ine mutal lun LEUM GOD ke alu lalos.
And Seth had a son, and he called his name Enos: he hoped to call on the name of the Lord God.
