< Ezra 9 >

1 Tukun ma inge orekla, kutu sin mwet kol lun mwet Israel tuku ac fahk nu sik lah mwet uh, mwet tol uh, ac mwet Levi elos tiana sifacna srelosla liki mutunfacl su oan apkuran nu Israel: Ammon, Moab, ac Egypt, ku oayapa liki mwet Canaan, mwet Hit, mwet Periz, mwet Jebus, ac mwet Amor. Elos oru pacna ma srungayuk ma mwet inge oru uh.
Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, [doing] according to their abominations, [even] of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.
2 Mukul Jew uh payuk sin mutan sac, pwanang mwet mutal lun God elos fohkfokla. Mwet kol ac mwet pwapa elos pa kunaus ma sap uh oemeet uh.
For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of [those] lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.
3 Ke nga lohngak ma inge, nga seya nuknuk luk ke nga arulana supwar, ac nga siki aunsifuk ac altuk ac muta oela ke asor na lulap.
And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down confounded.
4 Nga mutana asor nwe ke sun pacl in orek kisa in eku uh, na mwet uh mutawauk fahsreni nu yuruk — aok elos nukewa su tuninfong ke sripen kas se God lun Israel El tuh fahk ke ma koluk lalos su foloko liki sruoh.
Then were assembled to me every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat confounded until the evening sacrifice.
5 Ke pacl in kisa in eku, nga tuyak liki mutangan asor luk. Nga srakna nukum nuknuk mihsalik luk, na nga sikukmutunte in pre, ac nga asroela pouk nu sin LEUM GOD luk.
And at the evening sacrifice I arose from my heaviness; and having rent my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands to the LORD my God,
6 Nga fahk, “O God, nga arulana mwekin in keyak sifuk ye motom. Ma koluk lasr yolyak oan lucng liki sifasr, ac fulat oana kusrao.
And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over [our] head, and our trespass is grown up to the heavens.
7 Kut, su mwet lom, yoklana ma koluk kut orala oe in pacl lun mwet matu lasr me nwe misenge. Ke sripen ma koluk lasr, kut, ac tokosra lasr, ac mwet tol lasr, putatyang nu inpoun tokosra sac, ac anwuk kut, pisreyuk kut, ac utukla kut tuh kut in mwet kapir. Arulana akpusiselyeyuk kut in pacl somla, oana ma orek nu sesr nwe misenge.
Since the days of our fathers [have] we [been] in a great trespass to this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, [and] our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as [it is] this day.
8 Ke kitin pacl fototo inge, O LEUM GOD lasr, kom pakoten nu sesr ac fuhlela kutu sesr in sukosokla liki moul in mwet kohs, ac tuku muta in misla ke acn mutal se inge. Kom orala inkanek in kaingla lasr liki kapir, ac ase moul sasu nu sesr.
And now for a little space grace hath been [shown] from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.
9 Kut tuh mwet kohs, a kom tia filikutla nu ke moul in kohs. Kom oru tuh tokosra fulat in acn Persia in kulang nu sesr, ac elos lela tuh kut in moul na ac sifil musai Tempul lom, su musalsalu, ac in konauk misla in acn Judah ac Jerusalem.
For we [were] bond-men; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations of it, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.
10 “Tusruktu inge, O God, mea kut ku in fahk tukun ma inge nukewa su sikyak? Kut sifilpa seakos ma sap
And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments,
Which thou hast commanded by thy servants the prophets, saying, The land, to which ye go to possess it, is an unclean land with the filthiness of the people of the lands, with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their uncleanness.
12 Mwet palu elos tuh fahk nu sesr mu kut in tiana apayuki yurin mwet we, ac in tiana kasrelos nu ke kapkapak, ku in sun finsrak lalos, kut fin lungse in engankin acn sac ac tafwela nu sin tulik natusr nwe tok.
Now therefore give not your daughters to their sons, neither take their daughters to your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth for ever: that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave [it] for an inheritance to your children for ever.
13 Finne ma puspis sikyak tari in kalyei kut ke sripen ma koluk ac tafongla lasr, kut etu tuh kaiyuk lom nu sesr srik liki ma fal nu sesr. Ac kom, God lasr, kom se nu sesr tuh kut in ku in moul na ac tia misa.
And after all that hath come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities [deserve], and hast given us [such] deliverance as this;
14 Na mea, pwaye lah kut ac sifil pilesrala ma sap lom ac apayuki yurin mwet koluk inge? Kut fin oru, kom ac arulana mulat ac kom ac fah kunauskutla nukewa, ac tia lela sie in moul.
Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldst thou not be angry with us till thou hadst consumed [us], so that [there should be] no remnant nor escaping?
15 LEUM GOD lun Israel, kom suwoswos, tusruktu kom lela kut moul. Kut fahkak nu sum ma sufal lasr, ac kut kupansuwol in tuku nu ye motom.”
O LORD God of Israel, thou [art] righteous: for we having escaped, remain yet, as [it is] this day: behold, we [are] before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because of this.
