Ezra 10

Now, when Ezra had prayed and when he had made confession, weeping and casting himself down, before the house of God, there gathered unto him out of Israel, an exceeding large convocation—men and women and children, for the people wept with a very bitter weeping.

2 Na Shecaniah wen natul Jehiel, sin fwil natul Elam, el fahk nu sel Ezra, “Kut sifacna kunausla inmasrlosr ac God ke kut payuk nu sin mutan sac. Tusruktu finne ouinge, srakna oasr finsrak lun Israel.

Then responded Shecaniah son of Jehiel of the sons of Elam, and said unto Ezra, We, have been faithful with our God, and have married foreign women from among the peoples of the land, —yet, now, there is hope for Israel concerning this thing.

3 Inge kut enenu in orala sie wulela ku nu sin God lasr lah kut ac supwalik mutan inge ac tulik natulos in som liki kut. Kut fah oru ma kom, ac elos ngia su sunakin ma sap lun God, fahk nu sesr in oru. Kut ac oru oana ma sapkinyuk nu sesr in Ma Sap lun God.

Now, therefore, let us solemnize a covenant unto our God—to put away all the women and such as have been born of them, in the counsel of my lord, and them who tremble at the commandment of our God, —and, according to the law, let it be done.

4 Ma kunom in oru ouinge. Kut ac wi kom na, ke ma inge tuyak ac oru ma kom ac oru an.”

Arise, for, upon thee, resteth the thing, but, we, are with thee, —be strong, and act.

5 Ouinge Ezra el tuyak ac sapkin tuh mwet kol inmasrlon mwet tol ac mwet Levi, ac mwet Israel nukewa saya, in fulahk tuh elos fah oru oana kas lal Shecaniah.

Then arose Ezra and made the rulers of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel, swear to do according to this word—and they sware.

6 Na el som liki mutun Tempul ac utyak nu ke infukil lal Jehohanan wen natul Eliashib, ac muta we fong fon se, ac tungi orekma koluk lun mwet sruoh. El tia mongo ku nim kutena ma.

Then arose Ezra from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Jehohanan son of Eliashib, —and, when he came thither, bread, did he not eat, and, water, did he not drink, for he was mourning over the unfaithfulness of them of the Exile.

7 Sie kas supweyukelik nu yen nukewa in acn Jerusalem ac Judah, tuh elos nukewa su foloko liki sruoh fah osun in Jerusalem,

Then made they a proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem, unto all the Sons of the Exile, to gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;

8 fal nu ke sap ku lun mwet kol lun mwet uh. Fin oasr kutena su tia tuku ke lusen len tolu, ma lalos nukewa fah itukla lukelos, ac elos fah tia sifil sie sin mwet in u se inge.

and, whosoever should not come within three days, according to the counsel of the rulers and the elders, all his goods should be devoted, —and, himself, be separated from the convocation of them of the Exile.

9 Inmasrlon len tolu ah, ke len aklongoul in malem akeu, mukul nukewa su muta in acn lun Judah ac Benjamin elos tuku nu Jerusalem ac toeni in acn mwesas lun Tempul. Len sac af na upa, ac mwet nukewa rarrar ke sripen oyohu len an, oayapa ke sripa na yohk se lun tukeni sac.

Then were gathered together all the men of Judah and Benjamin unto Jerusalem, within three days, the same, was the ninth month, on the twentieth of the month, —and all the people remained in the broadway of the house of God, trembling concerning the thing, and because of the heavy rains.

Then arose Ezra the priest, and said unto them, Ye, have acted unfaithfully, and have married foreign women, —to add unto the guilt of Israel.

11 Inge, fahkak ma koluk lowos nu sin LEUM GOD lun mwet matu lowos, ac oru ma El insewowo kac. Srikowosla liki mwetsac su muta in acn sesr, ac sisla mutan sac kiowos.”

Now, therefore, make confession unto Yahweh God of your fathers, and do his pleasure, —and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the foreign women.

12 Mwet uh wowoyak ac topuk, “Kut ac oru ma nukewa ma kom fahk an.”

Then responded all the convocation and said, with a loud voice, —Thus, according to thy word concerning us, must it be done.

13 Tusruktu elos tafwela ke kas inge, “Pusla mwet ke u se inge, ac af uh upa. Kut tia ku in tu ouinge likinum uh. Ma se inge tia ma ac ku in orekla ke len se ku luo, mweyen puslana sesr oasr ke ma koluk se inge.

Nevertheless, the people, are many, and, the season, is that of the heavy rains, and we are not able to stand outside, —and, the business, is not one for a single day, nor yet for two, for we have abundantly transgressed, in this thing.

14 Lela mwet kol lasr inge in muta Jerusalem ac orekma ke elya se inge. Na lela kutena mwet su oasr mutan sac se kia in tuku ke pacl se oakwuk nu sel, wi mwet kol ac mwet nununku lun siti sel. Fin ouinge, na mulat lun God ke ouiya se inge ac fah forla liki kut.”

Let, we beseech thee, our rulers take up their station for all the convocation, and, all who, throughout our cities, have married foreign women, let them come in at times appointed, and, with them, the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the glow of the anger of our God be turned from us, concerning this matter.

15 Wangin sie lain lemlem sac, sayal Jonathan wen natul Asahel, ac Jahzeiah wen natul Tikvah, su eis kasreyuk sel Meshullam ac Shabbethai, sie mwet Levi.

Only Jonathan son of Asahel and Jahzeiah son of Tikvah, made a stand against this, —and, Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite, helped them.

16 Mwet nukewa su foloko liki sruoh elos insese nu ke lemlem sac. Ouinge Ezra mwet tol el srisrngiya mwet inmasrlon sifen sou uh, ac simusla inelos kais sie. Ke len se meet in malem se aksingoul, elos mutawauk in mukuikui ke sukok lalos,

But the Sons of the Exile, did thus, and Ezra the priest separated to himself certain men—ancestral heads by their ancestral houses, and all of them by name, —and they took their seats on the first day of the tenth month to search into the matter;

and they made an end with all the men who had married foreign women, —by the first day of the first month.

Now there were found, of the sons of the priests, who had married foreign women, —of the sons of Jeshua son of Jozadak, and his brethren, Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah;

and they gave their hand, that they would put away their wives, —and, being guilty, [they offered] a ram of the flock for their guilt.

And, of the sons of Immer, Hanani, and Zebadiah.

21 Ke sou lal Harim: Maaseiah, Elijah, Shemaiah, Jehiel, ac Uzziah

And, of the sons of Harim, Maaseiah and Elijah and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.

22 Ke sou lal Pashhur: Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad, ac Elasah

And, of the sons of Passhur, Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad, and Elasar.

23 [Mwet Levi]: Jozabad, Shimei, Kelaiah (su pangpang pac Kelita), Pethahiah, Judah, ac Eliezer

And, of the Levites, Jozabad and Shimei, and Kelaiah, the same, is Kelita, Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.

And, of the singers, Eliashib. And, of the doorkeepers, Shallum and Telem and Uri.

26 Ke sou lal Elam: Mattaniah, Zechariah, Jehiel, Abdi, Jeremoth, ac Elijah

And, of the sons of Elam, Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Elijah.

27 Ke sou lal Zattu: Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, Jeremoth, Zabad, ac Aziza

And, of the sons of Zattu, Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.

28 Ke sou lal Bebai: Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, ac Athlai

And, of the sons of Bebai, Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, Athlai.

29 Ke sou lal Bani: Meshullam, Malluch, Adaiah, Jashub, Sheal, ac Jeremoth

And, of the sons of Bani, Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, Jeremoth.

30 Ke sou lal Pahath Moab: Adna, Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, Binnui, ac Manasseh

And, of the sons of Pahath-moab, Adna and Chelal, —Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.

31 Ke sou lal Harim: Eliezer, Isshijah, Malchijah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,

And, [of] the sons of Harim, Eliezer, Isshijah, Malchijah, Shemaiah, Shimeon;

All these, had taken foreign women, —and had begotten of them children.
