< Ecclesiastes 9 >
1 Nga nunak yohk ke ma inge nukewa ke pacl na loeloes, ac nga liye lah God pa nununku mukuikui lun mwet lalmwetmet ac mwet suwoswos, finne nu ke lungse lalos ac srunga lalos. Wangin sie mwet etu lah mea oan meeto.
For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them.
All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.
3 Saflaiyen moul lun mwet nukewa ac oana sie, ac ma se inge tiana suwohs. Ke lusenna moul lun mwet uh, nunak lalos sessesla ke nunak koluk ac wel, na elos misa.
This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event to all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.
4 Tusruktu kutena mwet su moul inmasrlon ma moul uh, oasr finsrak yorolos. Soko kosro ngalngul ma moul, wo liki soko lion ma misa.
For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
5 Aok, mwet moul etu lah elos ac misa, a mwet misa wangin ma elos etu. Wangin mwe usru elos ac sifil eis. Mulkinyukla na pwaye elos.
For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
6 Lungse lalos, srunga lalos, kena lalos, nufonna welulos na misa. Ac fah tia sifilpa oasr ma kunalos ke kutena ma su sikyak fin faclu.
Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, hath now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
7 Ouinge kom in kang mongo nom ac engan. Nim wain nimom ke inse pwar. God El nuna oaki in ouinge.
Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.
8 Pacl nukewa kom in naweyukla ac akmusrala in fal nu ke pacl in engan.
Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment.
9 Engankin moul lom yurin mutan kiom su kom lungse, ke lusenna moul lusrongten ma God El sot nu sum fin faclu. Engankin kais sie len lusrongten inge, mweyen pa na ingan ma kom ac eis ke orekma kemkatu nukewa lom.
Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.
10 Kutena ma kom oru, oru ke kuiyom mweyen ac fah wangin mukuikui, wangin nunak, wangin etauk, wangin lalmwetmet in facl sin mwet misa, tuh pa ingan acn se kom ac som nu we uh. (Sheol )
Whatever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, where thou goest. (Sheol )
11 Oasr sie pac ma nga akilen ke moul lasr faclu: mwet mui uh tia eis kutangla pacl nukewa, ac mwet pulaik uh tia eis kutangla ke mweun pacl nukewa. Mwet lalmwetmet uh tia eis kasrpalos pacl nukewa, mwet usrnguk uh tia kasrup pacl nukewa, ac mwet ma fas ke orekma tia eis wal fulat pacl nukewa. Ma ongla ouiya uh sikyak nu sin mwet nukewa.
I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
12 Kom tia ku in etu lah pacl lom uh ac tuku ngac. Oana won ma sremla ke sruhf in kitin pacl na, ku oana ik ma sremla ke kwa, kut ac sremla pac ke sie pacl na koluk ma kut tiana etu kac.
For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.
13 Oasr pac sie ma nga liye, sie mwe srikasrak na wo ke nunkeyen lalmwetmet uh sin mwet faclu.
This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed to me great:
14 Oasr sie siti srisrik ma mwet na pu muta we. Na sie tokosra na ku tuku mweuni acn sac. El kuhlusya ac akoo in fokolak pot uh ac utyak.
There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it:
15 Oasr sie mukul wi muta in acn sac. El sukasrup, tuh el lalmwetmet, ac el ku na in molela siti sac. Tusruktu wanginna mwet lohang nu sel.
Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.
16 Nga fahk pacl nukewa lah lalmwetmet uh wo liki ku, tusruktu wangin mwet nunku mu mwet sukasrup ku in lalmwetmet, pwanang elos tiana lohang nu ke ma mwet sukasrup uh fahk.
Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.
17 Wo in porongo pusra fisrasr lun sie mwet lalmwetmet, liki pusren wowoyak lun sie mwet kol inmasrlon mwet lalfon.
The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.
18 Yohk ma wo tuku ke lalmwetmet liki na kufwen mwe mweun, tusruk sie mwet koluk el ku in forteya ma wo puspis.
Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.
