< Deuteronomy 9 >

1 “Mwet Israel, kowos in porongo! Misenge kowos ac fahsr alukela Infacl Jordan ac eis acn sin mutunfacl ma yohk liki kowos ac ku liki kowos. Siti selos arulana yohk, ac pot kac uh fulat nwe lucng.
Hear, O Israel: Thou [art] to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fortified up to heaven,
2 Mwet we uh mwet na loeska ac fokoko. Elos ma nutin mwet Anak su mwet na yohk pisa, ac kowos lohng kaclos lah wangin mwet ku in lainulos.
A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and [of whom] thou hast heard [it said], Who can stand before the children of Anak!
3 Tusruktu inge kowos ac fah sifacna liye lah LEUM GOD lowos El ac fahsr meet liki kowos oana sie e na ngeng. El ac kutangulosla ke kowos fahsryak nu we, na kowos ac ukwalosyak ac sa na kunauselosla, oana El wulela.
Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God [is] he who goeth over before thee; [as] a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the LORD hath said to thee.
4 “Tukun LEUM GOD lowos El luselosla keiwos, kowos in tia nunku mu El uskowosme ac sot lowos acn se inge ke sripen kowos mwet suwohs. Mo. LEUM GOD El ac lusla mwet inge keiwos mweyen elos mwet koluk.
Speak not thou in thy heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.
5 Tia mweyen kowos wo ac oru ma suwohs pa El lela nu suwos in eis acn selos. El ac luselosla mweyen elos koluk, ac mweyen El kena akpwayeye wuleang lal ma El tuh oru nu sin papa matu tomowos — Abraham, Isaac, ac Jacob.
Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thy heart dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations, the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD swore to thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
6 Kowos in arulana etu lah LEUM GOD El tia sot lowos acn wowo se inge mweyen kowos pa fal in eis. Mo, kowos mwet likkeke.
Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou [art] a stiff-necked people.
7 “Nimet mulkunla ke kowos tuh oru LEUM GOD lowos El kasrkusrak yen mwesis. Mutawauk oe ke len se kowos illa liki acn Egypt nwe ke len se kowos sun acn inge, kowos nuna utuk nunak lainul.
Remember, [and] forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart from the land of Egypt, until ye came to this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.
8 Finne ke Eol Sinai, kowos tuh akkasrkusrakye LEUM GOD— lupan kasrkusrak lal fal na in anwuki kowos.
Also in Horeb ye provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you.
9 Nga utyak nu fineol ah in eis eot tupasrpasr ma wuleang inmasrlowos ac LEUM GOD tuh simla fac. Nga tuh muta we len angngaul ac fong angngaul, ac tia mongo ku nim kutena ma.
When I ascended the mount, to receive the tables of stone, [even] the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither ate bread, nor drank water:
10 Na LEUM GOD El ase nu sik eot tupasrpasr luo su El sifacna simusla fac ke kufinpaol ma El tuh fahk nu suwos liki e sac ke len se ma kowos tuh tukeni pe eol soko ah.
And the LORD delivered to me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them [was written] according to all the words which the LORD spoke with you in the mount, from the midst of the fire, in the day of the assembly.
11 Aok, tukun len angngaul ac fong angngaul, LEUM GOD El ase nu sik eot tupasrpasr luo ma El simusla wuleang lal fac.
And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, [that] the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, [even] the tables of the covenant.
12 “Na LEUM GOD El fahk nu sik, ‘Sulaklak tufokla, mweyen mwet lom su kom kolma liki Egypt elos oru ma na koluk. Elos forla liki ma nga sapkin nu selos, ac orala sie ma sruloela nu selos sifacna.’
And the LORD said to me, Arise, go down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted [themselves]; they are quickly turned aside from the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.
13 “LEUM GOD El oayapa fahk nu sik, ‘Nga etu lupan likkeke lun mwet inge.
Furthermore, the LORD spoke to me, saying, I have seen this people, and behold, it [is] a stiff-necked people:
14 Nimet srike in kutongyuwi. Nga akoo in kunauselosla tuh in wangin mwet fah sifil esamulos nwe tok. Na nga fah oru tuh fwilin tulik nutum in sie mutunfacl yohk ac ku lukelos.’
Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.
15 “Na nga forla ac fani liki eol uh, ac nga us inpouk eot tupasrpasr luo ma simla wuleang uh fac. In pacl sac e na lulap se firirrir fineol uh.
So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant [were] in my two hands.
16 Nga liye lah kowos seakos tari sap lun LEUM GOD nu suwos, ac kowos orekma koluk lainul ke kowos sifacna orala sie ma sruloela osra nu suwos in luman soko cow mukul.
And I looked, and behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God, [and] had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly from the way which the LORD had commanded you.
17 Ke ma inge, nga sisya eot tupasrpasr uh nu infohk uh ye motowos, na fokelik nu ke ip srisrik.
And I took the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and broke them before your eyes.
18 Na nga sifil oankiyuki ye mutun LEUM GOD ke len angngaul ac fong angngaul, ac tia mongo ku nim kutena ma. Nga oru ouinge mweyen kowos orekma koluk lain LEUM GOD ac akkasrkusrakyal.
And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I neither ate bread, nor drank water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
19 Nga tuh sangeng ke mulat upa lun LEUM GOD, mweyen lupan kasrkusrak lal fal na in kunauskowosla; tusruktu LEUM GOD El sifilpa porongeyu.
(For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure with which the LORD was wroth against you to destroy you.) But the LORD hearkened to me at that time also.
20 LEUM GOD El oayapa kasrkusrak sel Aaron ac oru Elan unilya, ouinge nga pre pac kacl Aaron in pacl sac pac.
And the LORD was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.
21 Nga eisla ma koluk se kowos orala — cow mukul osra soko ah — ac sisang nu in e uh. Na nga fukulya ac ililya in mwesri, ac sisla kutkut uh nu luin infacl soko ma soror fineol uh me.
And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, [and] ground [it] very small, [even] until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust of it into the brook that descended from the mount.
22 “Kowos tuh oayapa akkasrkusrakye LEUM GOD lowos ke pacl se kowos muta in acn Taberah, Massah, ac Kibroth Hattaavah.
And at Taberah, and at Massah, and Kibroth-hattaavah, ye provoked the LORD to wrath.
23 Oayapa ke pacl se El supwekowosla liki Kadesh Barnea ac sap kowos in som ac eisla facl se ma El asot nu suwos, a kowos utuk nunak lainul. Kowos tiana lulalfongel ku aksol.
Likewise when the LORD sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.
24 Kowos nuna utuk nunak na lain LEUM GOD oe ke nga tufahna etekowosla ah.
Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.
25 Ouinge nga oankiyuki ye mutun LEUM GOD ke len angngaul ac fong angngaul mweyen nga etu lah El akoo in kunauskowosla.
Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down [at the first]; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.
26 Ac nga pre, ‘O LEUM GOD Fulatlana, nimet kunausla mwet lom inge, su kom molelosla ac usalosme liki facl Egypt ke ku lulap lom.
I prayed therefore to the LORD, and said, O LORD God, destroy not thy people and thy inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
27 Esamul Abraham, Isaac, ac Jacob, mwet kulansap lom, ac nimet lohang nu ke likkeke, kutasrik ac orekma koluk lun mwet inge.
Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not to the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin:
28 Kom fin kunausla mwet lom, na mwet Egypt uh ac fahk mu kom kofla usla mwet lom nu in facl se kom tuh wulela nu selos kac. Elos ac fahk mu kom usla mwet lom nu yen mwesis in onelosi we, mweyen kom srungalos.
Lest the land from which thou hast brought us should say, Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.
29 Pwayeiya uh, mwet inge pa kom tuh sulela in ma lom, ac su kom usalosme liki Egypt ke po kulana lom!
Yet they [are] thy people and thy inheritance which thou hast brought out by thy mighty power and by thy out-stretched arm.
