< Daniel 1 >
1 In yac aktolu ke Jehoiakim el tokosra in acn Judah, Tokosra Nebuchadnezzar lun acn Babylonia el tuh mweuni acn Jerusalem ac kuhlasla siti uh.
In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Jerusalem, and besieged it.
2 Leum El lela tuh elan sruokilya Tokosra Jehoiakim ac usla kutu mwe kasrup lun Tempul uh. El tuh usla kutu mwet sruoh welul folokla nu ke tempul lun god lal in acn Babylon, ac filiya ma saok inge ke nien filma in tempul lalos uh.
The LORD gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God; and he carried them into the land of Shinar to the house of his god: and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.
3 Tokosra el tuh sapkin nu sel Ashpenaz, su leum fin mwet pwapa lal, elan sulela kutu mukul fusr Israel su ma in sou lun tokosra ac sou lun mwet leum, su wi muta in sruoh.
The king spoke to Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring in some of the people of Israel, even of the royal family and of the nobles;
4 Elos su solla inge enenu in mwet na oasku, lalmwetmet, pah in orekma, lalkung, ac wangin ma koluk ke manolos, tuh elos fah fal in kulansap inkul lun tokosra. Ma kunal Ashpenaz in lotelosyang in ku in rit ac sim ke kas Babylonia.
youths in whom was no blemish, but well-favored, and skillful in all wisdom, and endowed with knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability to stand in the king's palace; and that he should teach them the learning and the language of the Chaldeans.
5 Tokosra el oayapa sapkin tuh in kitakat elos len nukewa ke mwe mongo ac wain su ma mwet inkul fulat elos eis uh. Tukun lutiyuk elos ke yac tolu, elos ac utuku nu ye mutal tokosra.
The king appointed for them a daily portion of the king's royal food, and of the wine which he drank, and that they should be nourished three years; that at its end they should stand before the king.
6 Inmasrlon mwet ma tuh solla inge pa Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, ac Azariah — elos kewa ma in sruf lun Judah.
Now among these were, of the people of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.
7 Leum fulat lun mwet pwapa uh sang ine sasu inge nu selos: Belteshazzar, Shadrach, Meshach ac Abednego.
The prince of the eunuchs gave names to them: to Daniel he gave the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.
8 Daniel el tuh sulela elan tia kang mwe mongo ac nim mwe nim ma kitakat mwet inkul fulat uh kac, pwanang ac tuh akfohkfokye manol. Ouinge el siyuk sel Ashpenaz tuh elan kasrel,
But Daniel determined in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king's royal food, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
9 ac God El oru tuh Ashpenaz elan etaten nu sel Daniel.
Now God gave Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the prince of the eunuchs.
10 Tusruktu Ashpenaz el sangeng sel tokosra, ac el fahk nu sel Daniel, “Tokosra el pakiya tari ma kom in kang ac nim, ac fin tia wo finsroam oana tulik sayom inge, na el ac ku na in uniyuwi.”
The prince of the eunuchs said to Daniel, "I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse looking than the youths who are of your own age? So would you endanger my head with the king."
11 Ouinge Daniel el som nu yurin mwet se ma Ashpenaz el tuh srisrngiya in liyalang ac mwet kawuk tolu lal.
Then said Daniel to the steward whom the prince of the eunuchs had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:
12 Ac el fahk nu sel, “Srike kut ke len singoul, ac use na fokinsak kut in kang, ac kof kut in nim.
"Test your servants for ten days; and let them give us vegetables to eat, and water to drink.
13 Na kom fah liye lah manosr ac oa kac monin tulik ma kang mongo ke inkul lun leum uh, na kom fah oru sulela lom an fal nu ke ma kom liye an.”
Then let our faces be looked on before you, and the face of the youths who eat of the king's royal food; and as you see, deal with your servants."
14 Na mwet sac insese elos in srike ke len singoul.
So he listened to them in this matter, and tested them ten days.
15 Tukun len singoul ah, Daniel ac mwet kawuk tolu lal ah arulana fokoko ac wo finsroalos liki tulik nukewa ma kang mongo nun mwet leum uh.
At the end of ten days their faces appeared better and fatter than all the youths who ate of the king's royal food.
16 Ouinge in pacl sac lac, mwet se ma liyaltalang ah lela eltal in mongo fokinsak na, ac tia kang mongo ma tokosra el sang elos in kang.
So the steward took away their royal food, and the wine that they should drink, and gave them vegetables.
17 God El sang nu sin mwet fusr akosr ah etauk yohk, ac sasla in riti sramsram matu ac lalmwetmet. Sayen ma inge, El sang pac nu sel Daniel in ku in akkalemye kalmen aruruma ac mweme.
Now as for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
18 Ke sun saflaiyen yac tolu ma tokosra el pakiya, Ashpenaz el pwanla mwet fusr nukewa nu ye mutal Nebuchadnezzar.
At the end of the days which the king had appointed for bringing them in, the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.
19 Tokosra el sramsram nu selos nukewa, ac arulana fwefela sel Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael ac Azariah yohk liki mwet fusr nukewa saya ah. Ouinge elos weang kulansap nu sin tokosra.
The king talked with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore they entered the king's service.
20 Finne kain siyuk fuka ma tokosra el siyuk, ku kain elya ma el ac srukak, mwet fusr akosr inge etu pacl singoul yohk liki kutena mwet susfa ku mwet inutnut su oasr ke tokosrai lal uh nufon.
In every matter of wisdom and understanding, concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters who were in all his realm.
21 Daniel el mutana inkul fulat se inge nwe ke na Cyrus, tokosra fulat lun Persia, el kutangla acn Babylonia.
Daniel continued even to the first year of king Koresh.
