< Orekma 8 >
1 Ac Saul el wi akkeye in anwuki Stephen. In len sacna, mwet lun church in acn Jerusalem mutawauk in pula mwe akkeok na upa nu selos. Mwet lulalfongi nukewa, sayen mwet sap uh, fahsrelik nu in acn nukewa Judea ac Samaria.
Saul was in agreement with his death. So there began on that day a great persecution against the church that was in Jerusalem; and the believers were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.
2 Kutu mwet ma inse pwaye in lulalfongi elos arulana tungel Stephen, ac piknilya.
Devout men buried Stephen and made great lamentation over him.
3 A Saul el srike in kunausla church. El uti-utyak inkul nukewa, ac amakunla mukul ac mutan su lulalfongi liki lohm selos, ac siselosyang nu in presin.
But Saul greatly harmed the church; he went into house after house and dragged out men and women, and put them into prison.
4 Mwet lulalfongi ma fahsrelik elos fahkak ke Pweng Wo yen nukewa elos som nu we.
Yet the believers who had been scattered went about proclaiming the word.
5 Ac Philip el som nu in sie siti in Samaria ac fahkak ke Christ nu sin mwet we.
Philip went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed to them the Christ.
6 Un mwet puspis arulana lohang nu sel Philip, in lohng ma el fahk uh ac in liye mwenmen ma el oru.
When multitudes of people heard and saw the signs that Philip did, they paid attention together to what he said.
7 Ngun fohkfok uh illa liki mwet puspis ac wowoyak ke pusra lulap, ac mwet ul ac mwet sukapas puspis akkeyeyukla.
Unclean spirits came out of many who were possessed, crying out with a loud voice, and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed.
8 Ouinge mwet in siti sac elos arulana engan.
So there was much joy in that city.
9 Oasr sie mwet in acn sac pangpang Simon, su orek susfa ke pacl na loeloes we, ac aklutye mwet Samaria. El sifacna oru mu el mwet fulat se,
But there was a certain man in the city named Simon, who had earlier been practicing sorcery; he used to astonish the people of Samaria, while claiming that he was an important person.
10 ac mwet nukewa in siti sac, kewana mwet fulat ac mwet pusisel, arulana lohang nu ke ma el oru. Elos fahk mu el pa ku se lun God su pangpang “Ku Lulap.”
All the Samaritans, from the least to the greatest, paid attention to him; they said, “This man is that power of God which is called Great.”
11 Elos tuh lohang ouinge nu sel ke sripen polo pacl na loes se el arulana aklutyalos ke susfa ma el oru.
They listened to him, because he had astonished them for a long time with his sorceries.
12 Tusruktu ke pacl se elos lulalfongi mwe luti lal Philip ke pweng wo ke Tokosrai lun God ac ke inen Jesus Christ, elos baptaisla, mukul ac mutan.
But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 Simon el wi pac lulalfongi ac tukun baptaisla el, el ukwal Philip pacl nukewa, ac el arulana fwefela ke el liye ma sakirik yohk ac mwenmen ma orek uh.
Even Simon himself believed, and after he was baptized he stayed with Philip constantly. When he saw signs and mighty deeds taking place, he was amazed.
14 Ke mwet sap ma muta Jerusalem elos lohngak lah mwet Samaria elos eis kas lun God, elos supwalla Peter ac John nu yorolos.
Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John.
15 Ke eltal sun acn Samaria, eltal pre ke mwet lulalfongi we tuh elos in eis Ngun Mutal.
When they had come down, they prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit.
16 Tuh Ngun Mutal soenna putati nu faclos; elos baptaisla mukena ke inen Leum Jesus.
For until that time, the Holy Spirit had not come upon any of them; they had only been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.
17 Na Peter ac John filiya paolos faclos, ac elos eis Ngun Mutal.
Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
18 Simon el liye lah Ngun Mutal itukyang nu sin mwet lulalfongi ke mwet sap uh filiya paolos faclos, ouinge el ke sang kutu mani nu sel Peter ac John,
Now when Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money.
19 ac fahk, “Se pac ku se inge nu sik, tuh kutena mwet ma nga filiya pouk fac, fah eis Ngun Mutal.”
He said, “Give me this power, too, that whoever I place my hands on might receive the Holy Spirit.”
20 Tuh Peter el topuk ac fahk nu sel, “Lela tuh kom ac mani lom an in som nu in hell, ke kom nunku mu kom in moli mwe kite lun God ke mani! ()
But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish along with you, because you thought to obtain the gift of God with money.
21 Wangin ma lom ke orekma se inge, mweyen insiom tia pwaye ye mutun God.
You have no part or share in this matter, because your heart is not right with God.
22 Ke ma inge, kom in auliyak liki nunak koluk lom an, ac pre nu sin Leum tuh elan nunak munas nu sum ke kom oru kain in nunak ingan uh.
Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord, so that he might perhaps forgive you for the intention of your heart.
23 Tuh nga liye mu kom sessesla ke sok, ac ma koluk uh kaprikomi.”
For I see that you are in the poison of bitterness and in the bonds of sin.”
24 Simon el fahk nu sel Peter ac John, “Nunak munas, pre nu sin God keik, tuh ma komtal fahk ingan in fah tia sikme nu sik.”
Simon answered and said, “Pray to the Lord for me, so that nothing you have said may happen to me.”
25 Tukun Peter ac John fahkak kas lun Leum ac sramsram ke lulalfongi laltal sifacna, eltal fahkak pac Pweng Wo uh in siti srisrik puspis in Samaria ke eltal folok nu Jerusalem.
When they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem, proclaiming the gospel to many villages of the Samaritans.
26 Sie lipufan lun Leum God fahk nu sel Philip, “Akola ac oatula nu eir, nu ke inkanek soko ma som Jerusalem lac nu Gaza.” (Inkanek soko inge tia orekmakinyuk in pacl inge.)
Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip and said, “Arise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” (This road is in a desert.)
27 Na Philip el tuyak ac som. El liye sie mwet eunuch Ethiopia me, su sie mwet fulat inkul sin kasra lun acn Ethiopia. Mwet se inge pa liyaung mwe kasrup nukewa lun kasra sac. El tuh tuku nu Jerusalem in alu.
He arose and went. Behold, there was a man from Cush, a eunuch of great authority under Candace, queen of the Cushites. He was in charge of all her treasure. He had come to Jerusalem to worship.
28 In pacl se inge el folokla nu yen sel. El muta fin chariot natul ac riti kas lal Isaiah mwet palu.
He was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading the prophet Isaiah.
29 Ac Ngun Mutal fahk nu sel Philip, “Kalukyang nu ke chariot soko ingo, ac fahsr apkuran nu kac.”
The Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and stay close to this chariot.”
30 Philip el yula nu yorol, ac lohng lah el riti book lal Isaiah mwet palu, na el siyuk sel, “Ku kom kalem ke ma kom riti an?”
So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
31 Na mwet fulat sac fahk, “Nga ac kalem fuka fin wangin mwet aketeya nu sik?” Na el sap Philip elan sroak ac welul muta fin chariot uh.
The Cushite said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” He begged Philip to come up into the chariot and sit with him.
32 Pa inge mwe rit se ma el riti ah: “El oana soko sheep ma pwenyukla in anwuki, Oana soko lamb ma mislana ke pacl in kalkul lal, El tiana fahkla kutena kas.
Now the passage of the scripture which the Ethiopian was reading was this, “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and like a lamb before his shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth.
33 Akpusiselyeyuk el, ac wangin nununku suwohs orek nu sel. Wangin mwet ac ku in srumun ke fwilin tulik natul Mweyen moul lal fin faclu uh safla.”
In his humiliation justice was taken away from him. Who can fully describe his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.”
34 Mwet fulat sac siyuk sel Philip, “Su mwet palu se inge kaskas kac uh? Kacl sifacna, ku ke siena mwet?”
So the eunuch asked Philip, and said, “I beg you, who is the prophet speaking about, himself, or someone else?”
35 Na Philip el mutawauk in sramsram. El mutawauk ke mwe rit se inge, ac fahkang nu sel ke Pweng Wo ke Jesus.
Philip began to speak, and beginning with this scripture he proclaimed the good news about Jesus to him.
36 Eltal kasrusr nwe sun sie acn ma oasr kof we. Na mwet fulat sac fahk, “Liye, kof pa inge. Ya oasr ma ac ikolyuwi nga in baptaisla?” [
As they went on the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, there is water here. What prevents me from being baptized?”
37 Philip el fahk nu sel, “Kom fin lulalfongi ke insiom kewa, kom ku in baptaisla.” Ac el topuk, “Nga lulalfongi lah Jesus Christ El Wen nutin God.”]
38 Na mwet fulat sac sap chariot sac in tui, na el ac Philip tukenina oatui nu in kof uh, ac Philip el baptaisella.
So the Ethiopian commanded the chariot to stop. They went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch, and Philip baptized him.
39 Ke eltal utyak liki kof uh, Ngun lun Leum usalla Philip. Mwet fulat sac tiana sifil liyal Philip tok, a ke el som inkanek lal el arulana engan.
When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord took Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, but went on his way rejoicing.
40 Philip el esmakla tuh na el muta Ashdod. Na el luti ke Pweng Wo in siti srisrik nukewa nwe ke el sun acn Caesarea.
But Philip appeared at Azotus and he went through that region, proclaiming the gospel to all the cities until he came to Caesarea.
