< Luo Samuel 10 >
1 Kutu pacl tok, Tokosra Nahash lun Ammon el misa, ac Hanun wen natul, el tokosrala.
And it came to pass, after this, that the king of the sons of Ammon died, —and that Hanun his son reigned in his stead.
2 Tokosra David el fahk, “Nga enenu in akkalemye nunak in kawuk pwaye luk nu sel Hanun, oana ke Nahash papa tumal, el tuh oru nu sik.” Ouinge David el supwala mwet utuk kas in fahkak nunak in pakomuta lal ke misa papa tumal ah. Ke elos sun acn Ammon,
Then said David—I will shew lovingkindness unto Hanun son of Nahash, as his father shewed, unto me, lovingkindness. So David sent to comfort him, by the hand of his servants, as to his father, —and the servants of David came into the land of the sons of Ammon.
3 mwet kol lun mwet Ammon elos fahk nu sin tokosra, “Ku kom nunku mu David el akfulatye papa tomom, pa sis el supwama mwet inge in fahkak kas in pakomuta lal nu sum? Sutuu na sutuu! El supwaltalma in tuh tuni siti uh, elan mau ku in eisla sesr!”
Then said the rulers of the sons of Ammon unto Hanun their lord—Is David honouring thy father, in thine eyes, that he hath sent unto thee comforters? Is it not, for the sake of exploring the city, and spying it out, and overthrowing it, that David hath sent his servants unto thee?
4 Na Hanun el sruokya mwet utuk kas lal David, ac resaela alut lalos, ac wotela nuknuk lalos ah ke finyepalos, ac supwalosla.
Wherefore Hanun took David’s servants, and shaved off half their beards, and cut off their upper garments in the middle, as far as their buttocks, —and let them go.
5 Elos arulana mwekin in folokla nu yen selos. Ke David el lohng ke ma sikyak ah, el sapla nu yorolos tuh elos in mutana Jericho ac tia foloko nwe ke alut lalos ah kapak.
And, when they told David, he sent to meet them, because the men were greatly ashamed, —and the king said—Tarry at Jericho, until your beards be grown, then shall ye return.
6 Ke mwet Ammon elos akilen lah elos sifacna oru tuh David elan mwet lokoalokla lalos, na elos som moli longoul tausin mwet mweun Syria in acn Bethrehob ac Zobah, ac singoul luo tausin mwet Tob, oayapa tokosra lun Maacah wi sie tausin mwet.
And, when the sons of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious with David, the sons of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Beth-rehob, and the Syrians of Zoba—twenty thousand footmen, and of king Maacah—a thousand men, and men of Tob—twelve thousand men.
7 David el lohngak, na el supwalla Joab ac un mwet mweun lal nukewa.
And, when David heard of it, he sent Joab and all the army of heroes,
8 Mwet Ammon elos fahsr som nu ke nien utyak nu Rabbah, siti fulat lalos, ac tu na akola we. Mwet nukewa saya — mwet Syria, mwet Tob, ac mwet Maacah — elos som nu yen turangang ac akola pac in mweun we.
And the sons of Ammon came out, and set in array for battle, at the entrance of the gate, —whereas, the Syrians of Zoba, and of Rehob, and the men of Tob and of Maacah, were by themselves, in the field.
9 Joab el liye tuh mwet lokoalok lalos ac mweunelos meet ah me ac tokolos me. Ouinge el sulela mwet ma wo emeet ke mweun sin mwet Israel, ac oakelosi in lain mwet Syria.
And, when Joab saw that the front of the battle was towards him, before and behind, he chose out of all the chosen men of Israel, and set them in array against the Syrians;
10 Ac el sang Abishai, tamulel lal, in kol mwet mweun lula nukewa, na Abishai el oakelosi in lain mwet Ammon.
while, the rest of the people, he delivered into the hand of Abishai his brother, —and set [them] in array against the sons of Ammon.
11 Joab el fahk nu sel, “Kom fin liye tuh mwet Syria ac kutangyula, na kom tuku kasreyu. Ac nga fin liye tuh mwet Ammon ac kutangkomla, na nga ac fahsrot kasrekom.
And he said—If the Syrians be too strong for me, then shalt thou become my deliverance, —but, if, the sons of Ammon, be too strong for thee, then will I come with deliverance to thee.
12 Kom in ku ac pulaik! Lela kut in sang kuiyasr nufon in mweun ke mwet lasr ac ke siti nukewa lun God lasr. Finsrak tuh in fahsr ou ma lungse lun LEUM GOD!”
Be strong, and let us put forth our strength, for the sake of our people, and for the sake of the cities of our God, —and, Yahweh, do what is good in his own eyes.
13 Joab ac mwet lal elos fahsryak nu ke mweun, ac mwet Syria elos kaing.
And Joab drew nigh, and the people that were with him, to fight against the Syrians, —and they fled before him.
14 Ke mwet Ammon elos liye lah mwet Syria kaing, na elos kaingla lukel Abishai, ac foloki nu in siti uh. Na Joab el forla sisla mweun lal yurin mwet Ammon, ac folokla nu Jerusalem.
And, when, the sons of Ammon, saw that the Syrians had fled, then fled they before Abishai, and entered the city, —so Joab returned from the sons of Ammon, and entered Jerusalem.
15 Mwet Syria elos akilen lah mwet Israel elos kutangulosla, na elos pangoneni mwet mweun lalos nukewa nu sie.
And, when the Syrians saw that they were defeated before Israel, they gathered themselves together;
16 Tokosra Hadadezer el sapla nu sin mwet Syria su muta layen kutulap in Infacl Euphrates, ac elos tuku nu Helam, ye kolyuk lal Shobach, captain lun un mwet mweun lal Tokosra Hadadezer lun Zobah.
and Hadadezer sent and brought out the Syrians that were beyond the River, and they entered Helam, —Shobach the prince of the host of Hadadezer being before them.
17 Ke David el lohngak ma inge, el orani mwet mweun lun Israel ac tupalla Infacl Jordan ac som nu Helam, yen mwet Syria elos akola soanel we. Mweun uh mutawauk,
And, when it was told David, he gathered together all Israel, and passed over the Jordan, and entered Helam, —and the Syrians set themselves in array to meet David, and fought with him.
18 na mwet Israel elos ukwauk mwet mweun Syria. David ac mwet lal ah uniya mwet itfoko su kasrusr ke chariot, ac angngaul tausin mwet kasrusr fin horse, ac elos kantelya Shobach, captain lun un mwet mweun su lainulos, ac el misa na yen mweun ah orek we.
Then fled the Syrians before Israel, and David slew of the Syrians seven hundred chariots, and forty thousand horsemen, —Shobach also, prince of their host, smote he, that he died, there.
19 Ke tokosra ekasr su fahsr tokol Hadadezer elos akilen lah kutangyukla elos, na elos orek misla yurin mwet Israel, ac mutawauk orekma nu selos. Ac mwet Syria elos sangeng in sifilpa kasru mwet Ammon.
And, when all the kings who were servants to Hadadezer saw that they were defeated before Israel, they made peace with Israel, and served them, —and the Syrians feared to give help any more unto the sons of Ammon.
