< Luo Chronicle 32 >
1 Tukun ouiya wo su Tokosra Hezekiah el oru ke kulansap oaru lal nu sin LEUM GOD, Sennacherib, Tokosra Fulat lun Assyria, el utyak mweuni acn Judah. El kuhlusya siti ma akkeyeyukla, ac sap nu sin mwet mweun lal in fokolak pot uh ac utyak nu in siti uh.
After these things and this faithfulness, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, entered into Judah, encamped against the fortified cities, and intended to win them for himself.
2 Ke Hezekiah el akilen lah Sennacherib el akoo in mweuni pac acn Jerusalem,
When Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come, and that he was planning to fight against Jerusalem,
3 na el sramsram yurin mwet pwapa lal ac mwet mweun watwen lal, tuh elos in kunausla unon in kof ma oan likin siti uh. Na elos kasrel ke pwapa sac.
he took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the springs which were outside of the city, and they helped him.
4 Mwet puspis fahsreni, ac elos tulokinya unon in kof ac sungan infacl srisrik ma oasr in acn sac. Elos fahk, “Lela in wanginna kof nu sin mwet Assyria elos fin sun acn inge.”
Then many people gathered together and they stopped all the springs and the brook that flowed through the middle of the land, saying, “Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find abundant water?”
5 Ac tokosra el akkeyala ma loangeyen siti uh ke el akwoyela pot we, ac musaela tower fin pot uh, ac musaela sie pac pot nu likin pot uh. Sayen ma inge el aksasuyela pac acn ma musaiyuk ke acn se ma koaneyukla layen nu kutulap in Siti sel David. El oayapa sap in orekla osra in fakfuk ac mwe loeyuk pukanten.
He took courage, built up all the wall that was broken down, and raised it up to the towers, with the other wall outside, and strengthened Millo in David’s city, and made weapons and shields in abundance.
6 El oakiya mwet nukewa in siti uh ye kolyuk lun captain lun mwet mweun, ac sap elos in tukeni ke nien tukeni se ke mutunpot lun siti uh. Ac el fahk nu selos,
He set captains of war over the people, gathered them together to him in the wide place at the gate of the city, and spoke encouragingly to them, saying,
7 “Kowos in ku ac pulaik na. Nikmet sangeng sin Tokosra Fulat lun Assyria ac mwet mweun pus lal. Oasr ku yorosr lukel.
“Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or dismayed because of the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude who is with him; for there is a greater one with us than with him.
8 El kukin ku lun mwet, a LEUM GOD pa wi kut ac kasrekut ke mweun lasr.” Ac mwet uh pulaikla ke kas lun tokosra lalos.
An arm of flesh is with him, but the LORD our God is with us to help us and to fight our battles.” The people rested themselves on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
9 In kutu pacl tok, ke Sennacherib ac mwet mweun lal srakna oasr Lachish, el supwala kas inge nu sel Hezekiah ac mwet Judah su welul muta Jerusalem:
After this, Sennacherib king of Assyria sent his servants to Jerusalem, (now he was attacking Lachish, and all his forces were with him), to Hezekiah king of Judah, and to all Judah who were at Jerusalem, saying,
10 “Nga, Sennacherib, Tokosra Fulat lun Assyria, siyuk lah mea kowos lulalfongi pwanang kowos mutana Jerusalem, ke nga akola in mweuni kowos uh?
Sennacherib king of Assyria says, “In whom do you trust, that you remain under siege in Jerusalem?
11 Hezekiah el fahk mu LEUM GOD lowos El ac molikowosla liki ku lasr, tusruktu Hezekiah el kiapwekowos. El ac oru kowos in misa ke masrinsral ac malu.
Doesn’t Hezekiah persuade you to give you over to die by famine and by thirst, saying, ‘The LORD our God will deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria’?
12 El pa kunausla nien alu ac loang lun LEUM GOD, ac fahk nu sin mwet Judah ac Jerusalem mu elos in alu ac akosak mwe keng ke loang sefanna.
Hasn’t the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, ‘You shall worship before one altar, and you shall burn incense on it’?
13 Mea, kowos tia etu ma nga ac papa tumuk oru nu sin mwet in mutunfacl saya? Ya god lun mutunfacl saya molela mwet lalos liki Tokosra Fulat lun Assyria?
Don’t you know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of those lands in any way able to deliver their land out of my hand?
14 Nu oasr pacl god lun mutunfacl saya molelosla liki kut? Na mea se oru kowos nunku mu god lowos el ac ku in molikowosla kac?
Who was there amongst all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed that could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of my hand?
15 Nimet lela Hezekiah elan kiapwekowos ac aktafongyekowosla. Nimet lulalfongel! Wangin sie god lun kutena mutunfacl ku in molela mwet lal liki Tokosra Fulat lun Assyria. Kalem na lah god lowos el tia pac ku in molikowosla!”
Now therefore don’t let Hezekiah deceive you nor persuade you in this way. Don’t believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you out of my hand?”
16 Mwet pwapa lun mwet Assyria elos fahk ma koluk na yohk ke LEUM GOD ac kacl Hezekiah, mwet kulansap lun LEUM GOD.
His servants spoke yet more against the LORD God and against his servant Hezekiah.
17 Tokosra Fulat lun Assyria el supwala leta se su arulana akkolukye LEUM GOD lun Israel. Pa inge kas ke leta sac: “God lun mutunfacl saya tiana molela mwet lalos liki ku luk. Ouinge, god lal Hezekiah el tia pac ku in molela mwet lal likiyu.”
He also wrote letters insulting the LORD, the God of Israel, and speaking against him, saying, “As the gods of the nations of the lands, which have not delivered their people out of my hand, so shall the God of Hezekiah not deliver his people out of my hand.”
18 Mwet pwapa lal elos wowoyak ke fahkyen kas inge in kas Hebrew, in aksangengye mwet ma muta fin pot lun siti uh elos in sepulaikla, na ac fisrasr in sruhu siti sac.
They called out with a loud voice in the Jews’ language to the people of Jerusalem who were on the wall, to frighten them and to trouble them, that they might take the city.
19 Elos kaskas ke God lun Jerusalem oana ke elos kaskas ke god lun mutunfacl saya, su ma sruloala orekla ke poun mwet.
They spoke of the God of Jerusalem as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, which are the work of men’s hands.
20 Na Tokosra Hezekiah ac mwet palu Isaiah, wen natul Amoz, eltal pre nu sin God ac pang in suk kasre sel.
Hezekiah the king and Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, prayed because of this, and cried to heaven.
21 LEUM GOD El supwala sie lipufan su uniya mwet mweun Assyria oayapa mwet kol lalos. Na Tokosra Fulat sac mwekinla ac folokla nu Assyria. Sie len ah, ke el muta in tempul lun god lal, kutu sin wen natul elos unilya ke cutlass natulos.
The LORD sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty men of valour, the leaders, and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. When he had come into the house of his god, those who came out of his own body killed him there with the sword.
22 Ouinge LEUM GOD El molella Tokosra Hezekiah ac mwet Jerusalem liki ku lal Sennacherib, Tokosra Fulat lun Assyria, oayapa liki mwet lokoalok lalos saya. El oru in oasr misla inmasrlon mwet Judah ac mutunfacl nukewa su raunelosla.
Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.
23 Mwet puspis tuku nu Jerusalem, ac use mwe sang lalos nu sin LEUM GOD, ac mwe lung nu sel Hezekiah. Ouinge ke pacl se inge fahla, mutunfacl nukewa akfulatyal Hezekiah.
Many brought gifts to the LORD to Jerusalem, and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah, so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations from then on.
24 In pacl se inge Tokosra Hezekiah el masak ac el apkuran in misa. El pre, ac LEUM GOD El sang sie mwe akul nu sel lah el ac kwela.
In those days Hezekiah was terminally ill, and he prayed to the LORD; and he spoke to him, and gave him a sign.
25 Tusruktu Hezekiah el inse fulatak ac tia lungse akkalemye srui lal ke ma LEUM GOD El oru nu sel, pwanang acn Judah ac Jerusalem akkeokyeyuk kac.
But Hezekiah didn’t reciprocate appropriate to the benefit done for him, because his heart was lifted up. Therefore there was wrath on him, Judah, and Jerusalem.
26 Na tok, Hezekiah ac mwet Jerusalem elos sifacna akpusiselyalos, ouinge LEUM GOD El tia kalyaelos nwe ke na Hezekiah el misa.
However, Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the LORD’s wrath didn’t come on them in the days of Hezekiah.
27 Tokosra Hezekiah el arulana kasrupi, ac mwet nukewa akfulatyal. El sap in orekla nien filma nu ke gold, silver, eot saok, mwe akyuye mongo, mwe loeyuk, ac kutu pac ma saok.
Hezekiah had exceedingly great riches and honour. He provided himself with treasuries for silver, for gold, for precious stones, for spices, for shields, and for all kinds of valuable vessels;
28 El sap pac in musaiyuk lohm in neinyuk fokin ima, wain, oil in olive, oayapa lohm sin cow, ac kalkal in sheep.
also storehouses for the increase of grain, new wine, and oil; and stalls for all kinds of animals, and flocks in folds.
29 Sayen ma inge nukewa, God El sang pukanten sheep ac cow natul, wi pac mwe kasrup lulap, pwanang el musaela siti na pukanten.
Moreover he provided for himself cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance; for God had given him abundant possessions.
30 Tokosra Hezekiah pa kosrala Unon in Kof Gihon, ac orala laf soko tuh kof uh in ut ye pot uh yak nu in siti Jerusalem. Hezekiah el kapkapak in ma nukewa el oru.
This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper spring of the waters of Gihon, and brought them straight down on the west side of David’s city. Hezekiah prospered in all his works.
31 Finne ke pacl se mwet roso sin leum lun Babylonia elos tuku in lolngok ke ouiya usrnguk se ma tuh sikyak in facl sac, God El lela nu sel Hezekiah in fahsrna ke sulela lal sifacna, tuh Elan srikal ac etu lah fuka ouiyen nunak na pwaye lal.
However, concerning the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent to him to enquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him to test him, that he might know all that was in his heart.
32 Ma nukewa saya ma Tokosra Hezekiah el orala, ac lungse lal nu sin LEUM GOD, simla in book se pangpang [Aruruma Lun Mwet Palu Isaiah, Wen Natul Amoz], oayapa ke [Sramsram Matu Ke Tokosra Lun Judah Ac Israel].
Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah and his good deeds, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
33 Hezekiah el misa ac pukpuki ke ipin acn se oan lucng ke kulyuk lun mwet leum. Mwet nukewa lun Judah ac Jerusalem arulana akfulatyal ke pacl se el misa, ac Manasseh, wen natul, el aolul in tokosra.
Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the ascent to the tombs of the sons of David. All Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem honoured him at his death. Manasseh his son reigned in his place.
