< Sie Samuel 14 >
1 Sie len ah Jonathan el fahk nu sin mwet fusr se su us mwe mweun lal, “Fahsru, kut som nu ke nien aktuktuk lun mwet Philistia layeno.” Tuh Jonathan el tiana fahk nu sel Saul, papa tumal.
Now it happened on a day that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who bore his armour, “Come! Let’s go over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he didn’t tell his father.
2 Saul el mutangan aktuktuk ye sak pomegranate soko in acn Migron, apkuran nu Gibeah. Akuran mwet mweun onfoko welul.
Saul stayed in the uttermost part of Gibeah under the pomegranate tree which is in Migron; and the people who were with him were about six hundred men,
Ahitub el ma natul Phinehas natul Eli, mwet tol lun LEUM GOD in acn Shiloh.) Mwet uh tiana etu lah Jonathan el som tari.
including Ahijah the son of Ahitub, Ichabod’s brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli the priest of the LORD in Shiloh, wearing an ephod. The people didn’t know that Jonathan was gone.
4 Ke Innek in Utyak nu Michmash, su Jonathan el enenu in ut we tuh elan sun acn mwet Philistia elos muta we, oasr eot ngarngar na lulap luo mutun acn sac — sie oan lac, ac sie oan lac. Sie eot inge pangpang Bozez, ac sie pangpang Seneh.
Between the passes, by which Jonathan sought to go over to the Philistines’ garrison, there was a rocky crag on the one side and a rocky crag on the other side; and the name of the one was Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh.
5 Sie eot ah oan nu epang, layen nu Michmash, ac sie oan nu eir, layen nu Geba.
The one crag rose up on the north in front of Michmash, and the other on the south in front of Geba.
Sahp LEUM GOD El ac kasrekut, na fin pwaye, wanginna ma ac ikolya Elan ase kutangla nu sesr, kut finne mwet pu.”
Jonathan said to the young man who bore his armour, “Come! Let’s go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised. It may be that the LORD will work for us, for there is no restraint on the LORD to save by many or by few.”
7 Na mwet fusr sac fahk, “Ma na kom oru an, nga ac wi.”
His armour bearer said to him, “Do all that is in your heart. Go, and behold, I am with you according to your heart.”
8 Ac Jonathan el fahk, “Wona. Kut fahsr sasla innek ah, mwet Philistia in liye kut.
Then Jonathan said, “Behold, we will pass over to the men, and we will reveal ourselves to them.
9 Elos fin mu kut in tui ac soano elos in tuku nu yorosr, na kut ac tuina yen sac.
If they say this to us, ‘Wait until we come to you!’ then we will stand still in our place and will not go up to them.
10 A elos fin fahk kut in som nu yorolos, na kut ac som, mweyen pa ingan akul se ma akkalemye lah LEUM GOD El ase tari kutangla nu sesr.”
But if they say this, ‘Come up to us!’ then we will go up, for the LORD has delivered them into our hand. This shall be the sign to us.”
11 Ouinge eltal sifacna oru mwet Philistia ah in liyaltalak. Na mwet Philistia elos fahk, “Liye, kutu mwet Hebrew pa otyak liki lufin wikwik selos ah!”
Both of them revealed themselves to the garrison of the Philistines; and the Philistines said, “Behold, the Hebrews are coming out of the holes where they had hidden themselves!”
12 Elos pangnol Jonathan ac mwet fusr sac ac fahk, “Fanyak nu yorosr. Oasr ma kut ke fahk nu sumtal.” Na Jonathan el fahk nu sin mwet fusr sac, “Fahsr tukuk. LEUM GOD El sang kutangla nu sin Israel fin mwet inge.”
The men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armour bearer, and said, “Come up to us, and we will show you something!” Jonathan said to his armour bearer, “Come up after me, for the LORD has delivered them into the hand of Israel.”
13 Jonathan el kulakak ke paol ac intwel, ac mwet fusr sac fanyak tokol. Jonathan el sruokya mwet Philistia ekasr ac siseltali nu ten. Na mwet fusr sac onelosi.
Jonathan climbed up on his hands and on his feet, and his armour bearer after him, and they fell before Jonathan; and his armour bearer killed them after him.
14 Ke anwuk se meet inge, Jonathan ac mwet fusr sac uniya akuran mwet longoul ke acn na srisrik se, sahp tafun eka lupa.
That first slaughter, which Jonathan and his armour bearer made, was about twenty men, within as it were half a furrow’s length in an acre of land.
15 Mwet Philistia nukewa in acn sac arulana sangeng. Mwet mweun su kasrusr meet oayapa mwet mweun su muta ke nien aktuktuk lalos uh elos kewa sangeng ac rarrar. Faclu kusrusrsrusr, ac oasr fohsak lulap.
There was a trembling in the camp, in the field, and amongst all the people; the garrison and the raiders also trembled; and the earth quaked, so there was an exceedingly great trembling.
16 Mwet soan lal Saul su muta Gibeah in facl lal Benjamin elos liye ke mwet Philistia elos yuwot yume in fohsak lalos.
The watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin looked; and behold, the multitude melted away and scattered.
Then Saul said to the people who were with him, “Count now, and see who is missing from us.” When they had counted, behold, Jonathan and his armour bearer were not there.
18 Saul el fahk nu sel Ahijah mwet tol, “Use ephod nu inge.” (In len sac Ahijah el us nuknuk sac ac fahsr ye mutun mwet Israel.)
Saul said to Ahijah, “Bring God’s ark here.” For God’s ark was with the children of Israel at that time.
19 Ke Saul el srakna kaskas nu sin mwet tol sac, fohsak lun mwet in nien aktuktuk lun mwet Philistia yokelik liki meet ah. Na Saul el fahk nu sel, “Wangin pacl in siyuk kasru sin LEUM GOD!”
While Saul talked to the priest, the tumult that was in the camp of the Philistines went on and increased; and Saul said to the priest, “Withdraw your hand!”
20 Na Saul ac mwet lal nukewa elos fahsryang in mweun lain mwet Philistia, su sifacna forani ac aacnwuki sie sin sie ke sripen fohsak lalos.
Saul and all the people who were with him were gathered together, and came to the battle; and behold, they were all striking each other with their swords in very great confusion.
21 Kutu sin mwet Hebrew ma tuh wi mwet Philistia muta ke nien aktuktuk lalos, elos sifil forla ac welulla Saul ac Jonathan.
Now the Hebrews who were with the Philistines before and who went up with them into the camp from all around, even they also turned to be with the Israelites who were with Saul and Jonathan.
22 Oasr pac mwet Hebrew su wikwik in eol in Ephraim. Ke elos lohngak lah mwet Philistia elos kaingelik, na elos wi pac tuku ukwalos ac onelosla,
Likewise all the men of Israel who had hidden themselves in the hill country of Ephraim, when they heard that the Philistines fled, even they also followed hard after them in the battle.
23 fahla nwe alukela acn Bethaven. LEUM GOD El molela mwet Israel ke len sac.
So the LORD saved Israel that day; and the battle passed over by Beth Aven.
24 Mwet Israel elos tuh arulana masrinsralla ke len sac, ke sripen Saul el tuh fulahk nu selos ac fahk, “Mwet se fin kang sie mwe mongo misenge meet liki nga oru foloksak nu sin mwet lokoalok luk, fah selngawiyuk el.” Ouinge wangin mwet eis kutena mwe mongo len sac nufon.
The men of Israel were distressed that day; for Saul had adjured the people, saying, “Cursed is the man who eats any food until it is evening, and I am avenged of my enemies.” So none of the people tasted food.
25 Na elos tuku sun insak uh, ac liye tuh arulana pukanten honey we.
All the people came into the forest; and there was honey on the ground.
26 Sessesla lesak uh ke honey nwe tultul pac nu infohk uh, tusruk wangin mwet kang, mweyen elos nukewa sangeng ke kas in selnga lal Saul.
When the people had come to the forest, behold, honey was dripping, but no one put his hand to his mouth, for the people feared the oath.
27 A Jonathan el tuh tia lohng ke papa tumal el fahk kas in selnga lal nu sin mwet uh, na pa el asroela polosak soko ma oan inpaol, ac isongya nu ke sie nien honey ac mongo kac. In kitin pacl ah na el pulakunak ku in el.
But Jonathan didn’t hear when his father commanded the people with the oath. Therefore he put out the end of the rod that was in his hand and dipped it in the honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes brightened.
28 Na sie mukul el fahk nu sel, “Kut nufon arulana masrinsralla, mweyen papa tomom el fahk kas na upa nu sesr mu, ‘Mwet se fin kang sie mwe mongo misenge, fah selngawiyuk el.’”
Then one of the people answered, and said, “Your father directly commanded the people with an oath, saying, ‘Cursed is the man who eats food today.’” So the people were faint.
Liye, nga sa na pulakunak ku in ikok ke nga kang honey ah!
Then Jonathan said, “My father has troubled the land. Please look how my eyes have brightened because I tasted a little of this honey.
30 Fuka lupan woiya misenge, mwet uh funu kang mongo elos eisla ke elos kutangla mwet lokoalok lalos ah. Pisen mwet Philistia anwukla lukun pus liki na nge!”
How much more, if perhaps the people had eaten freely today of the plunder of their enemies which they found? For now there has been no great slaughter amongst the Philistines.”
31 In len sac mwet Israel elos kutangla mwet Philistia. Elos tuh mweunelos mutawauk in acn Michmash som nwe Aijalon. Toko, mwet Israel elos munasla ke sripen masrinsralla lalos.
They struck the Philistines that day from Michmash to Aijalon. The people were very faint;
Elos eis sheep ac cow, ac uniya yen se na elos sruokya we ah, ac kang ke srakna srahsra.
and the people pounced on the plunder, and took sheep, cattle, and calves, and killed them on the ground; and the people ate them with the blood.
33 Fwackyang ma inge nu sel Saul, “Liye, mwet uh orekma koluk lain LEUM GOD. Elos kang ikwa ke srakna srahsra.” Saul el wowoyak ac fahk, “Kowos mwet kutasrik! Epusak sie eot lulap an nu ye mutuk in se inge.”
Then they told Saul, saying, “Behold, the people are sinning against the LORD, in that they eat meat with the blood.” He said, “You have dealt treacherously. Roll a large stone to me today!”
34 Na el sifilpa sapkin nu selos, “Kowos fahsrelik nu inmasrlon mwet uh ac fahk tuh elos nukewa in usani cow ac sheep natulos nu in se inge. Elos in uniya ac mongo inge. Elos in tia orekma koluk lain LEUM GOD ke elos kang ikwa ke srakna srahsra.” Ouinge in fong sac, mwet nukewa elos use cow natulos ac uni in acn sac.
Saul said, “Disperse yourselves amongst the people, and tell them, ‘Every man bring me here his ox, and every man his sheep, and kill them here, and eat; and don’t sin against the LORD in eating meat with the blood.’” All the people brought every man his ox with him that night, and killed them there.
Saul built an altar to the LORD. This was the first altar that he built to the LORD.
36 Saul el fahk nu sin mwet lal, “Lela kut in oatula ac mweuni mwet Philistia ke fong, eisla ma lalos nukewa nwe ke lenelik, ac onelosla nufon.” Ac mwet uh elos topuk ac fahk, “Oru oana ma kom nunku mu wo sum.” A mwet tol sac fahk nu sel, “Lela kut in siyuk kasru sin God meet.”
Saul said, “Let’s go down after the Philistines by night, and take plunder amongst them until the morning light. Let’s not leave a man of them.” They said, “Do whatever seems good to you.” Then the priest said, “Let’s draw near here to God.”
Tuh God El tiana topuk in len sac.
Saul asked counsel of God: “Shall I go down after the Philistines? Will you deliver them into the hand of Israel?” But he didn’t answer him that day.
Saul said, “Draw near here, all you chiefs of the people, and know and see in whom this sin has been today.
For as the LORD lives, who saves Israel, though it is in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die.” But there was not a man amongst all the people who answered him.
Then he said to all Israel, “You be on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side.” The people said to Saul, “Do what seems good to you.”
41 Na Saul el fahk nu sin LEUM GOD lun Israel, “O LEUM GOD, efu kom tia topukyu misenge? LEUM GOD lun Israel, topukyu ke eot mutal inge. Ma koluk se inge fin ma luk ku ma lal Jonathan, kom akkalemye ke Urim. A ma koluk se inge fin ma lun mwet Israel, mwet lom, na kom akkalemye ke Thummim.” Na pa kalem tuh koluk sac ma lal Jonathan ac Saul, ac wangin mwatan mwet uh kac.
Therefore Saul said to the LORD, the God of Israel, “Show the right.” Jonathan and Saul were chosen, but the people escaped.
Saul said, “Cast lots between me and Jonathan my son.” Jonathan was selected.
43 Na Saul el siyuk sel Jonathan, “Mea kom oru nge?” Jonathan el topuk, “Nga kangla kutu srisrik honey ke polosak soko nga sruok. Nga inge — nga akola in misa.”
Then Saul said to Jonathan, “Tell me what you have done!” Jonathan told him, and said, “I certainly did taste a little honey with the end of the rod that was in my hand; and behold, I must die.”
44 Ac Saul el fahk nu sel, “Lela God Elan uniyuwi, fin tia anwuki kom!”
Saul said, “God do so and more also; for you shall surely die, Jonathan.”
45 A mwet uh fahk nu sel Saul, “Mea pwaye in anwuki Jonathan, mwet se su oru kutangla lulap nu sin Israel? Tia ku! Kut fulahk ke Inen LEUM GOD moul, tuh ac fah tia tuhlac soko aunsifal. Ma el oru misenge ma ke koko lun God.” Ouinge mwet uh molella Jonathan liki misa.
The people said to Saul, “Shall Jonathan die, who has worked this great salvation in Israel? Far from it! As the LORD lives, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground, for he has worked with God today!” So the people rescued Jonathan, so he didn’t die.
46 Tukun ma inge, Saul el tila ukwe mwet Philistia, na elos folokla nu yen selos.
Then Saul went up from following the Philistines; and the Philistines went to their own place.
47 Tukun Saul el mutawauk in tokosra fin mwet Israel, el mweuni mwet lokoalok lal in acn nukewa: mwet Moab, mwet Ammon, mwet Edom, tokosra in acn Zobah, ac mwet Philistia. Acn nukewa el mweun we, el kutangla.
Now when Saul had taken the kingdom over Israel, he fought against all his enemies on every side: against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines. Wherever he turned himself, he defeated them.
He did valiantly and struck the Amalekites, and delivered Israel out of the hands of those who plundered them.
49 Pa inge wen natul Saul: Jonathan, Ishvi, ac Malchishua.
Now the sons of Saul were Jonathan, Ishvi, and Malchishua; and the names of his two daughters were these: the name of the firstborn Merab, and the name of the younger Michal.
50 Mutan kial uh pa Ahinoam, acn natul Ahimaaz. Captain lun un mwet mweun lal uh pa Abner wen natul Ner, su ma wien papa tumal Saul.
The name of Saul’s wife was Ahinoam the daughter of Ahimaaz. The name of the captain of his army was Abner the son of Ner, Saul’s uncle.
51 Papa tumal Saul pa Kish, ac papa tumal Abner pa Ner, ac eltal ma natul Abiel.
Kish was the father of Saul, and Ner the father of Abner was the son of Abiel.
52 Ke lusen moul lal Saul nufon, oasr mweun na yohk inmasrlon mwet Israel ac mwet Philistia. Ke ma inge, pacl nukewa Saul el konauk sie mwet pulaik ac ku, el ac eisalang tuh elan wi un mwet mweun lal.
There was severe war against the Philistines all the days of Saul; and when Saul saw any mighty man or any valiant man, he took him into his service.
