And it happened after many days that the word of Jehovah came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, "Go, present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the earth."
2 Na Elijah el mukuiyak ac som. Sracl in acn Samaria upa na pwaye.
So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab. And the famine was severe in Samaria.
And Ahab summoned Obadiah, the steward of the house. (Now Obadiah feared Jehovah greatly.
4 Ke Jezebel el mutawauk in uniya mwet palu lun LEUM GOD, Obadiah el okanla siofok selos in luf luo, kais lumngaul ke luf se, ac kitalos mwe mongo ac mwe nim.)
And it came about, when Jezebel was killing the prophets of Jehovah, that Obadiah took one hundred prophets and hid them, fifty by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)
5 Ahab el fahk nu sel Obadiah, “Nga kom som rauneak acn uh kewa, suk lah oasr mah ke infacl srisrik ac unon in kof ma ac fal in kite kosro horse ac miul natusr, tuc elos in moulla ac tia misa. Kut fin konauk, na kut tia enenu in uniya kosro natusr inge.”
And Ahab said to Obadiah, "Go through the land, to all the springs of water, and to all the wadis. Perhaps we may find grass and save the horses and mules alive, that we not lose all the animals."
6 Eltal insesela ke acn kais sie seltal ac fahsr nu we, na eltal fahsrelik.
So they divided the land between them to explore it; Ahab went one way alone, and Obadiah went another way alone.
El akilenulak, ac faksufi ye mutal ac siyuk, “Ya pwayena lah kom pa ingan, Elijah?”
And as Obadiah was on the way, look, Elijah met him; and he recognized him and fell on his face and said, "Is it you, my lord Elijah?"
He answered him, "It is I. Go, tell your lord, 'Look, Elijah is here.'"
9 Obadiah el fahk, “Ma koluk fuka nga orala, ku kom in kena eisyuyang nu inpaol Tokosra Ahab elan uniyuwi?
And he said, "How have I sinned, that you would deliver your servant into the hand of Ahab, to kill me?
10 Ke Inen LEUM GOD lom, God moul, nga fulahk lah tokosra el orala sukok se lal keim in acn nukewa fin faclu. Kutena pacl leum lun sie facl fin fahk mu kom wangin in facl sel uh, na Ahab el ac sap leum sac in fulahk lah tia ku in koneyukyak kom we.
As Jehovah your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom, where my lord has not sent to seek you. When they said, 'He is not here,' he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they did not find you.
11 Ac inge kom lungse ngan som fahk lah kom oasr inge?
Now you say, 'Go, tell your lord, "Look, Elijah is here."'
12 Ac nga fin tufahna fahla, na Ngun lun LEUM GOD lom el uskomla nu ke sie acn nga tia etu, na ke nga ac fahk nu sel Ahab mu kom oasr inge, ac el fin tia konekomyak, na el ac sap in anwuki nga. Esam na lah nga nuna akfulatye LEUM GOD ke inse pwaye oe ke nga tulik ah me.
It will happen, as soon as I am gone from you, that the Spirit of Jehovah will carry you I do not know where; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he can't find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared Jehovah from my youth.
13 Ya kom tiana lohng lah ke Jezebel el mutawauk in uniya mwet palu lun LEUM GOD, nga tuh okanla mwet siofok selos in luf luo, kais lumngaul ke luf se, ac kitalos mwe mongo ac mwe nim?
Wasn't it told my lord what I did when Jezebel killed the prophets of Jehovah, how I hid one hundred men of Jehovah's prophets, fifty by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?
14 Na efu ku kom supweyu ngan som fahk nu sel tokosra lah kom oasr inge? El ac uniyuwi!”
Now you say, 'Go, tell your lord, "Look, Elijah is here";' and he will kill me."
15 Elijah el fahk, “Ke Inen LEUM GOD moul ac Kulana su nga kulansupu, nga wulela lah nga ac som sonol tokosra misenge.”
Elijah said, "As Jehovah of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely present myself to him today."
So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him; and Ahab went to meet Elijah.
It happened, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, "Is that you, you troubler of Israel?"
18 Ac Elijah el fahk, “Tia nga pa orek lokoalok — kom ac papa tomom. Kom seakos ma sap lun LEUM GOD, ac alu nu ke ma sruloala puspis kacl Baal.
He answered, "I have not troubled Israel; but you, and your father's house, in that you have forsaken the commandments of Jehovah, and you have followed the Baals.
19 Inge, kom pangonma mwet Israel nukewa in osun nu sik Fineol Carmel. Use mwet palu angfoko lumngaul lun Baal, ac mwet palu angfoko lun god mutan Asherah, su Kasra Jezebel el kasru.”
Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel to Mount Carmel, and four hundred fifty of the prophets of Baal, and four hundred of the prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel's table."
20 Ouinge Ahab el pangon mwet Israel nukewa ac mwet palu lun Baal in fahsreni nu Fineol Carmel.
So Ahab sent to all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together at Mount Carmel.
21 Elijah el utyak nu yurin mwet uh ac fahk, “Kowos ac tia orala sulela lowos an nwe ngac? Fin LEUM GOD pa God, na kowos alu nu sel, a fin Baal, kowos alu nu sel!” Na mwet uh tiana kas.
Elijah came near to all the people, and said, "How long will you keep limping between two positions? If Jehovah is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him." But the people did not answer him a word.
22 Na Elijah el fahk, “Nga mukena pa lula sin mwet palu lun LEUM GOD, a oasr mwet palu angfoko lumngaul lal Baal.
Then Elijah said to the people, "I, even I only, am left a prophet of Jehovah; but the prophets of Baal are four hundred and fifty men, and the prophets of Asherah four hundred.
23 Use lukwa cow mukul an. Mwet palu lal Baal in eis soko, uniya ac sipsipikya, ac filiya fin etong an, tusruktu nimet akosak. Ac ma soko ngia, nga ac oru oapana.
Let them therefore give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, and put no fire under. And I will prepare the other bull, and lay it on the wood, and put no fire under it.
You call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of Jehovah, and the god who answers by fire, he is God." All the people answered, "It is well said."
Then Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, "Choose one bull for yourselves, and prepare it first, for you are the majority, and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it."
And they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, "Baal, answer us." But there was no voice, nor any who answered. And they limped about the altar they had made.
27 Ke sun infulwen len ah, Elijah el mutawauk in aksruksrukelos ac fahk, “Liksreni pre! El god se! El acnu muta ngetngetla nunak, ku el acnu fahla nu ke lohm fahsr ah, ku el acnu mutwata, ku el acnu motulla ac kowos enenu in oaksalak!”
And it came about, at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, "Cry aloud, for he is a god. Maybe he is thinking about it, or he is busy, or he is on a trip, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened."
28 Ouinge mwet palu inge elos wowoyak pre, ac sipik manolos ke mitmit lulap ac mitmit srisrik fal nu ke lia lalos, nwe ke elos srahfon.
And they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with swords and spears, until the blood gushed out on them.
29 Elos wowo ac fohngfong nwe sun tafun len tok; tuh wanginna topken pre lalos, ac wanginna pusra lohngyuk.
And when midday was past, they prophesied until the offering up of the offering; but there was no voice, no answer, and no response.
El mutawauk akwoyela loang lun LEUM GOD ma tuh kunausyukla.
Elijah said to all the people, "Come near to me"; and all the people came near to him. He repaired the altar of Jehovah that had been torn down.
31 El eis eot singoul luo, fal nu ke pisen sruf ma ekin inen tulik natul Jacob, mwet se ma LEUM GOD El tuh sang inel Israel.
Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of Jehovah came, saying, "Israel shall be your name."
And with the stones he built an altar in the name of Jehovah. And he made a trench around the altar, large enough to contain two seahs of seed.
33 Na el takunla etong uh fin loang sac, ac sipsipikya cow soko ah, ac likiya fin etong uh, ac fahk, “Nwakla sufa akosr ke kof ac ukuiya fin mwe kisa ac etong uh.” Na elos orala.
And he arranged the wood, and cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood.
34 Ac el fahk, “Sulpa,” ac elos sifilpa fwela. “Sulpa sie,” na elos sifilpa fwela pacl se aktolu.
And he said, "Fill four jars with water, and pour it on the burnt offering, and on the wood." And they did so. And he said, "Do it a second time"; and they did it the second time. And he said, "Do it a third time"; and they did it the third time.
35 Na kof ah asrla ke loang ah twe nwakla laf soko ah.
And the water ran around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water.
36 Ke sun pacl in orek kisa ke tafun len tok, Elijah mwet palu el kilukyang nu ke loang sac ac pre ac fahk, “O LEUM GOD, God lal Abraham, Isaac, ac Jacob, akpwayei inge lah kom pa LEUM GOD lun Israel, ac lah nga mwet kulansap lom su orala ma inge nukewa ke sap lom.
It happened at the time of the offering up of the offering, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, "Jehovah, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word.
37 Topukyu, LEUM GOD. Topukyu, tuh mwet inge in etu lah kom, LEUM GOD, pa God, ac etu pac lah kom furokla nunkalos nu sum.”
Hear me, Jehovah, hear me, that this people may know that you, Jehovah, are God, and that you have turned their heart back again."
38 LEUM GOD El supweya e, ac esukak mwe kisa, etong uh, eot uh, infohk uh, ac akpaoyela kof in laf soko ah.
Then the fire of Jehovah fell, and consumed the burnt offering, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
39 Ke mwet uh liye ma inge, elos putati nu infohk uh ac fahk, “LEUM GOD El God. El mukena pa God!”
And when all the people saw it, they fell facedown and said, "Jehovah, he is God. Jehovah, he is God."
40 Elijah el sap ke ku, “Sruokya mwet palu lal Baal! Nimet lela kutena selos in kaingla.” Ac mwet uh sruokolosi nufon, ac Elijah el pwanulosi nu ke Infacl srisrik Kishon, ac onelosla we.
And Elijah said to them, "Seize the prophets of Baal. Do not let one of them escape." And they seized them. And Elijah brought them down to the Wadi Kishon, and killed them there.
And Elijah said to Ahab, "Get up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of a heavy rain."
42 Ke Ahab el som in mongo, Elijah el fanyak nu fin mangon eol Carmel, ac el pasrla nwe ke intwel.
So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he bowed himself down toward the ground, and put his face between his knees.
And he said to his servant, "Go up now, look toward the sea." So he went up, and looked, and said, "There is nothing." Then he said, "Go again" seven times. And the servant went again seven times.
It happened at the seventh time, that he said, "Look, a small cloud, like a man's hand, is rising out of the sea." He said, "Go up, tell Ahab, 'Get ready and go down, so that the rain doesn't stop you.'"
45 In kitin pacl ah na, acn lucng nukla ke pukunyeng sroalsroal, ac eng uh tuhyak, ac af na matol mutawauk in kahkla. Ahab el sroang nu fin chariot natul in folok nu Jezreel.

The hand of Jehovah was on Elijah; and he tucked his cloak into his belt and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
