1 Ninogwa umwe mlumanye vavaha veito na vahancha veito, valukololweito ukhuta avadaada yeito valenasi pamaveingo na vooni vagendile munyanja.
Now I do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud and all passed through the sea
2 Vooni vaonchiwe vave va Mose mugati mumaveingo na mugati munyanja,
—all were baptized into Moses by the cloud and by the sea—

and all ate the same spiritual food
4 Vooni vanywile amagasi galagala aga mepo. Ulwakhuva vanywile ukhuhuma muliwe lya mepo leilyo lya vakongaga, nei liwe eilyo lyale vi Klisite.
and drank the same spiritual drink; because they kept drinking from a spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that Rock was the Christ.
5 Pu uNguluve sanogwe fincho uwingi vwavo, ni mifimba gyavo gyaihasinie mundunkunyu.
For all that, God was not pleased with most of them—their carcasses were scattered around the desert!
6 Pu aga gooni gaale khihwani khyieto ukhuta ufwe tulekhe uva vaanu vakhunogwa imbivi nduvu avene umuvagahile.
Now these things became examples for us, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.
7 Mulekhe ukhwisaya mufihwani, nduvu avange umuvagahilaga, eiyie yeivile nduvuyiesimbiwe, “Avanu vatamaga pasi vale khulya nukhunywa puvaleikhwima khwinema mbunogwe vuligu.”
And do not become idolaters, just like some of them; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink, and got up to amuse themselves.”
8 Tulekhe ukhuvomba uvumalaya ndavingi mwavo umuvagahilaga, vakhafwa eisikhu yeimo avanu amalongo ga veili na vaalufu vadatu savuli ya eiyo.
And let us not fornicate, just as some of them did—and in one day twenty-three thousand died!
9 Hange tulekhe ukhugela uKlisite nduvu avingi mwavo umuvavombeile vakhanangiwa ni njokha.
Neither let us test the Christ, just as also some of them did—and were destroyed by the snakes!
10 Pu khange mulang'utaga, nduvu avingi muveene vang'utaga nukhunangiwa nu suhwa vavufwe.
And do not grumble, just as also some of them did—and were executed by the destroyer!
11 Pu ago gavoombikhe ndi khihwani khulyufwe. Gakhasimbiwa ukhuta gatuvungage ufwe - ni misileilo gya khatale. (aiōn g165)
Now all these things happened to them as examples and were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. (aiōn g165)
12 Puleino ula uveikhivona eimiile ave miho ayivookha igwa.
So then, let him who thinks he stands be careful that he does not fall!

The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a sharing of the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a sharing of the body of Christ?
17 Ulwa khuva eikhisyesye khilikhimo, ufwe twetulivingi tuliembeili ngumo. Ufwe tweivooni tukhyupeila eikhisyesye khila khimo pupaninie.
Since the loaf is one, we, the many, are one body, because we all partake of that single loaf.
18 Muvalole avanu vamu Israeli: Pu! Vala vooni avavilya eisadakha ya nekhelo savikhyupeileila pa nekhelo?
Consider the physical Israel: are not those who eat the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
19 Pu ninchoova khinukhi leino? Ukhula eikhihwani khinu? Ewo ukhula eikyakhulya eikhyukhihumenchiwe eisadakha khukhihwa ni pu khinu?
So what am I getting at? That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything?
20 Puleino niita pa finu fila ifyuvihumya eisadakha avanu avakaya avankilunga, pu ukhuta vihumya ifinu ifi khumanguluve pusavi humya kwa Nguluve. Nune saninogwa umwe ukhuva pupaninie na manguluve!
Rather, that the things pagans sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God. I do not want you to become participants with the demons.
21 Pusamwegela ukhunyweela eikhikombe khya Twa nie khikombe eikhya manguluve.
You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord's table and of the table of demons.
22 Ewo putukhupela Utwa uluvaavo? Tuleinamakha ukhulutiila umwene?
Are we going to provoke the Lord's jealousy? Are we stronger than He?
23 “Ifinu fyoni finogelanile,” puleino safinonu fyooni. “Ifinu fyoni finogelanile,” puleino safyoni fikhuvanchenga avanu.
All things are ‘permissible’ for me, but not all things are expedient. All things are ‘permissible’ for me, but not all things edify.

Let no one seek his own, but each one the other's well-being.

27 Nu munu uveisikhwi deikha anaveilange khwilya numwe mwinogwa ukhuluta, mulinchage khikyooni eikhyuikhuvapa khisita khwivuncha einyievonelo.
If some unbeliever invites you and you decide to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no questions for the sake of conscience.
28 Pu leino umunu angavavule, “Eikhyakhulya eikhi khuhumile ni sadakha ya nekhelo ya vapanchi,” mulekhe ukhulya. Pu eiye savule ya ula uvie avavuliele, hange savuli ya nyievonelo.
But if anyone says, “This was offered to idols,” do not eat it for the sake of the speaker and of the conscience; since “the earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness.”
29 Na yune saniita einyievonelo nchienyo, pu einyievonelo ncha incha yunge. Pakhuva khiikhi uvulegefu wango vuheigiwe ni nyievonelo incha munu uyunge?
‘Conscience’ I say, not your own but that of the other. Now just why should my freedom be judged by another's conscience?
30 Nei ngave une nivombeila ikyakhulya savuli ya lusano, pukhiikhi neidukhiwe khu khinu khiikhyo neisanile khueikyo?
If I partake with thanks, why be slandered over something I give thanks for?
31 Pu leino khyukhyooni eikhyumwilya ewo eikhyumwinywa ewo khyukhyooni eikhyumuvoomba, muvoomba gooni savuli ya kudwaadwa wa Nguluve.
Therefore, whether you eat or you drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
32 Mulekhe ukhuvayancha ava Yuta ewo avayunani ewo upeleila gwa Nguluve.
Give no offense, either to Jews or to Greeks or to the Church of God
33 Mugelage nduvu une neigeila ukhuvahovosya avanu vooni khumbombo nchooni. Sanilonda uvukavi wango yune pu uwavingi. Na yune nivoomba ewo ukhuta mkave uvupokhi.
—even as I try to please everyone in every way, not seeking my own profit but that of the many, that they may be saved.
