< 2 Pedro 1 >
1 In waꞌ ri Simón Pedro, in patanijel xuqujeꞌ taqoꞌn rech ri Jesucristo, kintzꞌibꞌaj we wuj riꞌ chike ri kikꞌamawaꞌm jun kojobꞌal ri sibꞌalaj paqal rajil, jetaq ri qe uj, xa rumal ri usukꞌal ri qaDios xuqujeꞌ ri qaKolonel Jesucristo.
To those to whom, through the justice of our God and Savior Jesus Christ, there has been granted faith equally privileged with our own, from Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ.
2 Chikꞌamawaꞌj nimalaj toqꞌobꞌ xuqujeꞌ jaꞌmaril pa ri retaꞌmabꞌal ri Dios xuqujeꞌ ri Ajawxel Jesucristo.
May blessing and peace be yours in ever increasing measure, as you advance in the knowledge of God and of Jesus, our Lord.
3 Are ri chikajil ukwinem ri Dios xyoꞌwik ri etaꞌmanik chaqe are xujusikꞌij apanoq pa ri ujeꞌlal ri ujuluwem rech xuya ronojel ri jastaq ri kajawataj chaqe, rech kujkꞌasiꞌk jetaq ri karaj ri areꞌ.
For his divine power has given us everything that is needful for a life of piety, as we advance in the knowledge of him who called us by a glorious manifestation of his goodness.
4 Ri Dios xuya chaqe ri paqalik xuqujeꞌ jeꞌl laj taq tzij, rech jeriꞌ kixkwinik kixel loq pa taq ri etzelal ri kꞌo pa ri uwachulew rumal ri itzel taq rayinik, rech jeriꞌ kꞌo iwech che ri kꞌaslemal rech chikajil.
For it was through this that he gave us what we prize as the greatest of his promises, that through them you might participate in the divine nature, now that you have fled from the corruption in the world, resulting from human passions.
5 Rumal waꞌ rajawaxik kikoj ichuqꞌabꞌ rech xa jeriꞌ kanimar ri ikojobꞌal, chibꞌana utz taq chak rukꞌ ri ikojobꞌal, chibꞌana utz taq chak rukꞌ etaꞌmanik.
Yes, and for this reason do your best to supplement your faith by goodness, goodness by knowledge,
6 Qas chinaꞌ rukꞌ etaꞌmabꞌal jas ri kibꞌano, chiwilij ubꞌanik ri utzilal rukꞌ ri inaꞌoj, rukꞌ ri inaꞌoj chiqꞌijilaꞌj ri Dios.
knowledge by self-control, self-control by endurance, endurance by piety,
7 Ri irayinik chupatanixik ri Dios, chibꞌana rukꞌ loqꞌanik. Xuqujeꞌ ri irayinik chubꞌanik ri utzilal chibꞌana rukꞌ loqꞌanik.
piety by mutual affection, and mutual affection by love.
8 We utz kixnoꞌjinik, kixkꞌiy riꞌ pa ri etaꞌmanik rech ri Ajawxel Jesucristo rech jeriꞌ kixux winaq ri kꞌo kitayij.
For, when these virtues are yours, in increasing measure, they prevent your being indifferent to, or destitute of, a fuller knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 Are kꞌu ri winaq ri man utz taj kanoꞌjinik man naj taj kopan wi ri ukaꞌyebꞌal, xsachan che chi xchꞌajchꞌobꞌex che ri najtir taq umak.
Surely the person who has not these virtues is shortsighted even to blindness, and has chosen to forget that they have been purified from their sins of the past!
10 Rumal riꞌ, wachalal, chikojo ichuqꞌabꞌ rech qas kixjeqiꞌk pa ri usikꞌinik ri Dios, ri xixchoꞌwik. We are kibꞌan we jastaq riꞌ man kixtzaq ta wi pa mak.
Therefore, friends, do your best to put God’s call and selection of you beyond all doubt; for, if you do this, you will never fall.
11 Kajaqataj na ri uchiꞌ ja rech ri ajawarem rech ri Ajawxel Jesucristo qaKolonel, ri maj ukꞌisik. (aiōnios )
For in this way you will be given a triumphant admission into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. (aiōnios )
12 Rumal riꞌ kinnaꞌtaj wi na chiꞌwe we jastaq riꞌ pune iwetaꞌm chik xuqujeꞌ qas ix jeqel chik pa ri qas tzij.
I will, therefore, always be ready to remind you of all this, even though you know it and are firmly established in the truth that you now hold.
13 Wetaꞌm chi yaꞌtal chwe kinqꞌalajisaj ri utzij ri Dios, rumal cher in kꞌas na.
But I think it my duty, as long as I live in this ‘tent,’ to rouse you by awakening memories of the past;
14 Rumal kꞌu cher wetaꞌm chi man naj ta chik in kꞌaslik jeriꞌ xukꞌut ri Ajawxel Jesucristo chinuwach.
for I know that the time for this ‘tent’ of mine to be put away is soon coming, as our Lord Jesus Christ himself assured me.
15 Kinkoj sibꞌalaj nuchuqꞌabꞌ rech jeriꞌ we kinkamik, kanaꞌtaj na chwe ronojel ri xinbꞌano.
So I will do my best to enable you, at any time after my departure, to call these truths to mind.
16 Man xaq ta bꞌanoj tzij ri xqabꞌij chiꞌwe, are xqatzijoj ri upetibꞌal ri Ajawxel Jesucristo rukꞌ ri ukwinem, man xaq ta xqawok aqꞌanoq xane are xqatzijoj ri nimalaj ukwinem ri qas xqilo.
For we were not following cleverly devised stories when we told you of the coming in power of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been eye-witnesses of his majesty.
17 Ri Cristo xya uqꞌij xuqujeꞌ xukꞌamawaꞌj juluwem rumal ri Tataxel Dios xchꞌaw loq pa ri jeꞌl laj ukꞌolibꞌal xubꞌij: “Are waꞌ ri loqꞌalaj nukꞌojol, ri sibꞌalaj kakiꞌkot wanimaꞌ rukꞌ.”
For he received honor and glory from God the Father, when from the glory of the Divine Majesty there were borne to his ears words such as these – ‘This is my dearly loved son, who brings me great joy.’
18 Qas uj kꞌo uj rukꞌ ri Jesús are xqata ri chꞌabꞌal ri upetik pa ri kaj, are uj kꞌo puꞌwiꞌ ri tyoxalaj juyubꞌ.
These were the words that we heard, borne to our ears from heaven, when we were with him on that sacred mountain.
19 Rukꞌ waꞌ xqꞌalajisax chiqawach ri utz laj tzij ri xkitzijoj ri qꞌalajisal taq utzij ri Dios, ri utz xibꞌan chutatabꞌexik, kajunumataj rukꞌ jun qꞌaqꞌ ri katunan pa ri qꞌequꞌm, kꞌa kuriq na ri qꞌij are kel loq ri qꞌij ri katunanik pa taq iwanimaꞌ.
And still stronger is the assurance that we have in the teaching of the prophets; to which you will do well to pay attention (as if it were a lamp shining in a gloomy place), until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
20 Qas naꞌtaj chiꞌwe, chi man kꞌo ta jun qꞌalajisanik tzꞌibꞌatalik pa ri utzij ri Dios ri xaq achi xwokowik.
But first be assured of this: There is no prophetic teaching found in scripture that can be interpreted by a person’s unaided reason;
21 Jeriꞌ, rumal ri uqꞌalajisaxik ri utzij ri Dios man kichomanik taj ri achyabꞌ, xane are ri Tyoxalaj Uxlabꞌixel xqꞌalajisan chikiwach ri e qꞌalajisal taq utzij ri Dios ojer, ri tzij ri rajawaxik katzijoxik.
for no prophetic teaching ever came in the old days at the mere wish of people, but people, moved by the Holy Spirit, spoke direct from God.
