1 Wachalal, kamik kꞌut man rajawaxik ta chik chi katzꞌibꞌax chiꞌwe jas ri kakꞌulmataj na pa taq ri qꞌij junabꞌ ri petinaq.
But as to times and dates it is unnecessary that anything be written to you.
2 Rumal cher iwetaꞌm chik chi ri Ajawxel Jesús katzalij na loq, jetaq kubꞌan jun elaqꞌom are kelaqꞌik chaqꞌabꞌ, man kꞌo ta jun ayeꞌninaq apanoq.
For you yourselves know perfectly well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.
3 Are kakichapleꞌj ubꞌixik ri winaq: Kꞌo jaꞌmaril xuqujeꞌ maj rumal kaqaxiꞌj qibꞌ qas che riꞌ kape na aqꞌanoq kꞌaxal pa kiwiꞌ, jetaq ri qꞌoxom ri kuriq jun ixoq are kakꞌojiꞌ ral. Man kekwin ta kꞌut kakikol kibꞌ che we kꞌaxal riꞌ.
While they are saying "Peace and safety!" then in a moment destruction falls upon them, like birth-pains on a woman who is with child; and escape there is none.
4 Ri ix kꞌut alaxik, man ix kꞌo ta chik pa ri qꞌequꞌmal xaq jeriꞌ ri upetibꞌal ri Ajawxel Jesús man je taj jas jun elaqꞌom chiꞌwe ix ri xaq kꞌa te kelaqꞌik.
But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that daylight should surprise you like a thief;
5 Iwonojel ix, ix ralkꞌwaꞌl ri tunal ri katunanik xuqujeꞌ ix ralkꞌwaꞌl ri paqꞌijal man ix ralkꞌwaꞌl ta ri chaqꞌabꞌil xuqujeꞌ man ix ralkꞌwaꞌl taj ri qꞌequꞌmal.
for all of you are sons of Light and sons of the day. We belong neither to the night nor to darkness.
6 Man kuya ta bꞌa kujwarik jetaq ri kakibꞌan ri nikꞌaj winaq chik, xane rajawaxik kujkꞌasiꞌk xuqujeꞌ kꞌol qetaꞌmabꞌal che ri kaqabꞌano.
So then let us not sleep, like the rest of the world, but let us keep awake and be sober.
7 Ri kewarik, chaqꞌabꞌ riꞌ kewarik, xuqujeꞌ ri keqꞌabꞌarik, chaqꞌabꞌ riꞌ keqꞌabꞌarik.
For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who drink freely, drink at night.
8 Ri uj kꞌut ri uj re ri tunal, kꞌol qetaꞌmabꞌal, qakojo ri tobꞌal uwo qakꞌuꞌx rech kojobꞌal xuqujeꞌ rech loqꞌanik xuqujeꞌ ri ayeꞌnik rech kolotajem toꞌbꞌal rech ri qajolom rech man kaqarik ta kꞌax.
But let us, belonging--as we do--to the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.
9 Jeriꞌ rumal ri Dios man xujuchaꞌ ta apanoq rech kaqarik kꞌax, xane rech kaqakꞌamawaꞌj ri kolotajem xa rumal rech ri Ajawxel Jesucristo.
For God has not pre-destined us to meet His anger, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ;
10 Ri Jesucristo xkamik rumal qe rech jeriꞌ ta kꞌu pa ri kꞌaslemal ta kꞌu pa ri kamikal kujkꞌojiꞌk na rukꞌ Areꞌ.
who died on our behalf, so that whether we are awake or are sleeping we may share His Life.
11 Xaq jeriꞌ chitaqchiꞌj iwibꞌ xuqujeꞌ chiya ichuqꞌabꞌ chibꞌil taq iwibꞌ jetaq ri tajin kibꞌano.
Therefore encourage one another, and let each one help to strengthen his friend, as in fact you do.
12 Qachalal, kixqabꞌochiꞌj rech kiꞌnimaj ri e kꞌamal taq ibꞌe. Ri e kꞌamal taq ibꞌe sibꞌalaj kakikoj kichuqꞌabꞌ kakikꞌut chiꞌwach jas jeꞌ ri kabꞌan chukꞌaslebꞌexik ri kꞌaslemal rech kojonem.
Now we beg you, brethren, to show respect for those who labour among you and are your leaders in Christian work, and are your advisers;
13 Sibꞌalaj nim chiꞌwilaꞌ, xuqujeꞌ chiꞌloqꞌaj rumal ri chak ri tajin kakibꞌano cho ri Ajawxel. Chixkꞌoloq pa jaꞌmaril kukꞌ konojel ri winaq.
and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
14 Qachalal, kixqabꞌochiꞌj rech kiꞌkowij ri man kakaj taj kakibꞌan jun jastaq, chiꞌtaqchiꞌj ri man kꞌo ta kakaj kakibꞌano, chiꞌtoꞌ ri man kꞌo ta kichuqꞌabꞌ xuqujeꞌ cheꞌl ikꞌuꞌx chike konojel.
And we exhort you, brethren, admonish the unruly, comfort the timid, sustain the weak, and be patient towards all.
15 Qas naꞌtaj chiꞌwe chi man kꞌo ta jun kutzalij ukꞌaxel ri etzelal ri kabꞌan che, xane chikojo ichuqꞌabꞌ are chibꞌana ri utzilal, man xaq xwi ta chi ixoꞌl ix, xane kukꞌ konojel ri winaq.
See to it that no one ever repays another with evil for evil; but always seek opportunities of doing good both to one another and to all the world.
16 Amaqꞌel chixkiꞌkotoq.
Be always joyful.
17 Man kixtaniꞌ ta chubꞌanik chꞌawem.
Be unceasing in prayer.
18 Chixtyoxinoq che ri Dios pa ronojel ri kꞌulmatajik ri kixikꞌow wi, rumal cher are waꞌ ri urayibꞌal ukꞌuꞌx ri Dios chiꞌwe ix ri ix kꞌo pa Cristo Jesús.
In every circumstance of life be thankful; for this is God's will in Christ Jesus respecting you.
19 Mixnajtin che ri Tyoxalaj Uxlabꞌixel.
Do not quench the Spirit.
20 Miwetzelaj ri qꞌalajisanik ri kabꞌix chiꞌwe.
Do not think meanly of utterances of prophecy;
21 Qas chisolij rij pa koꞌkijal, chikꞌamawaꞌj ri utz che.
but test all such, and retain hold of the good.
22 Xuqujeꞌ chiwetzelaj ronojel ri man utz taj.
Hold yourselves aloof from every form of evil.
23 Are ri Dios rech jaꞌmaril chutzꞌaqatisaj ityoxirisaxik xuqujeꞌ chuchajij ri iwuxlabꞌal, ri ichomabꞌal xuqujeꞌ ri ityoꞌjal rech man kariqitaj ta mak che pa ri upetibꞌal ri Ajawxel Jesucristo.
And may God Himself who gives peace, make you entirely holy; and may your spirits, souls and bodies be preserved complete and be found blameless at the Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Areꞌ xixchoꞌwik rech kixux utinimit xuqujeꞌ rumal kubꞌan na ronojel ri utzujum loq chiꞌwe.
Faithful is He who calls you, and He will also perfect His work.
25 Qachalal, chibꞌana xuqujeꞌ chꞌawem pa qawiꞌ uj.
Brethren, pray for us.
26 Chiya rutzil kiwach konojel ri alaxik rukꞌ jun tyoxalaj tzꞌumanik.
Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.
27 Kinchilibꞌej chiꞌwe cho ri Ajawxel chisikꞌij we wuj riꞌ chikiwach konojel ri alaxik.
I solemnly charge you in the Lord's name to have this Letter read to all the brethren.
28 Are ri utoqꞌobꞌ ri Ajawxel Jesucristo kakanaj kanoq iwukꞌ.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
