Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the sojourners that are dispersed through Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2 Ri e chaꞌtalik rumal ri kwinel laj uchak ri Dios Tataxel pa ri Uxlabꞌixel, ri xetyoxirisataj rumal xkinimaj ri Jesucristo xuqujeꞌ xeꞌtortajik rukꞌ ri ukikꞌel, kinwayeꞌj chi kikꞌamawaꞌj nimalaj toqꞌobꞌ xuqujeꞌ jaꞌmaril.
elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctification of the Spirit, in order to obedience, and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: grace be to you, and peace be multiplied.
3 Qꞌijilaꞌtal ubꞌiꞌ ri Tataxel rech ri Ajawxel Jesucristo, xa rumal ri utoqꞌobꞌ xubꞌan chaqe xujalax chik junmul pa ri ukꞌastajibꞌal ri Jesucristo rech jeriꞌ kꞌo jun kꞌaslik qakuꞌlibꞌal kuꞌx
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his abundant mercy, has, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, regenerated us for a living hope
4 xuqujeꞌ kaqakꞌamawaꞌj ri qechabꞌal ri man katukin taj, man chꞌuluj taj, xuqujeꞌ man sachel taj uwach. Ri echabꞌal riꞌ, yaktal chiꞌwe pa ri kaj.
in respect to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for us,
5 Rumal cher ix riꞌ ri ixchajitalik rumal ri ukwinem ri Dios rumal ri ikojobꞌal kꞌa chopan na ri qꞌij are kakꞌut chiꞌwach ri kolotajem pa taq ri kꞌisbꞌal taq qꞌij.
who are kept secure by the power of God through faith, to a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time:
6 Rumal waꞌ rajawaxik kixkiꞌkotik, pune iriqom kꞌi uwach kꞌaxkꞌolal, pa taq we qꞌij kamik.
in which you rejoice, though now for a little while, since it is needful, you are in sorrow under various temptations;
7 Ri qꞌana pwaq, pune xaq sachel uwach, pa ri qꞌaqꞌ kabꞌan wi na rilik we qas utz. Je xuqujeꞌ ri ikojobꞌal nim na ubꞌanik choch ri qꞌana pwaq, kil na we qas utz xuqujeꞌ we taqalik kaya nim uqꞌij are kape ri Jesucristo.
that your faith, when proved, being much more precious than gold, which perishes though it be tried by fire, may be found to be for praise and honor and glory, at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
8 Ri ix kiloqꞌaj ri Jesucristo pune man iwilom uwach, kikojo chi kꞌolik, xuqujeꞌ sibꞌalaj kajuluwik ri ikiꞌkotemal.
whom, though you have not seen him, yet you love; on whom not now looking, but believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable, and full of glory,
9 Jeriꞌ, rumal tajin kikꞌamawaꞌj ri ikolotajem rumal ri ikojobꞌal.
receiving the end of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
10 Ri e qꞌalajisal taq utzij ri Dios xkitzijoj ri toqꞌobꞌ ri yaktalik ri kaya na chiꞌwe, aꞌreꞌ xkisolij rij jas ubꞌanik we koltajem riꞌ.
Concerning which salvation the prophets that prophesied of the grace that should be for you, did inquire, and search diligently,
11 Are xkaj xkichꞌobꞌ rij jachike qꞌotaj xuqujeꞌ jas taq riꞌ ri kꞌaxal ri kubꞌij ri Uxlabꞌixel rech ri Cristo, ri kꞌo chike aꞌreꞌ. Ri Uxlabꞌixel xubꞌij chike jas ri kꞌax ri kuriq na ri Cristo xuqujeꞌ ri juluwem ri kape na.
inquiring what things, and what time, the Spirit of Christ that was in them did signify, when it testified, beforehand, the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that should follow them;
12 Xqꞌalajisax chkiwach chi man aꞌreꞌ taj tajin kakipatanij kibꞌ, xane are tajin kixkipatanij ix. Xkitzijoj ri utz laj tzij ri katzijox chiꞌwe kamik rukꞌ ri ukwinem ri Uxlabꞌixel ri xtaq loq pa ri kaj. Ri angelibꞌ sibꞌalaj kakirayij rilik we jastaq riꞌ.
to whom it was revealed, that, not for themselves, but for us, they ministered the things that are now preached to you by those who have made known to you the gospel, through the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven; into which things angels desire to look.
13 Rumal riꞌ qas chibꞌana ronojel ri jastaq rukꞌ etaꞌmabꞌal, qas chichomaj ri kibꞌano, chi jeqebꞌa ikꞌuꞌx pa ri toqꞌobꞌ ri kayaꞌtaj na chiꞌwe are kape ri Cristo.
Wherefore, gird up the loins of your mind; be watchful, and hope constantly for the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ:
14 Chixnimanoq jetaq ri kakibꞌan ri akꞌalabꞌ are kenimanik, man je ta kixnoꞌjinik jetaq ri kixnoꞌjin kanoq nabꞌe are kꞌamajaꞌ iwetaꞌmabꞌal.
as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the desires which you formerly had in your ignorance;
15 Man kixmakun taj, rumal cher ri Dios ri xixsikꞌin apanoq tyoxalaj Dios.
but as he who has called you is holy, so be you holy in all your behavior:
16 Ri tzꞌibꞌatalik kubꞌij: Chitasa iwibꞌ che ri mak jetaq ri in nutasom wibꞌ che ri mak.
because it is written, Be you holy, for I am holy.
17 Jeriꞌ rumal cher are kibꞌij iTat che ri kakwinik kuqꞌat tzij pa kiwiꞌ konojel, chimochꞌo bꞌa iwibꞌ rumal cher xaq ix ikꞌowel choch ri uwachulew.
And since you call on the Father, who, without respect of persons, judges according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning in fear:
18 Iwetaꞌm chi xa xixesax loq pa ri kꞌaslemal ri xiwechabꞌej kanoq chike ri itat inan ojer. Man qꞌana pwaq man saq pwaq taj xloqꞌbꞌex iwe,
because you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver or gold, from your vain mode of life received by tradition from your fathers,
19 xane rukꞌ ri jeꞌl laj ukikꞌel ri Cristo ri paqal rajil, kajunumataj rukꞌ ri ukikꞌel ri jun laj chij ri man kꞌo ta uyabꞌ xuqujeꞌ man chꞌuluj taj.
but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without spot and blemish,
20 Are waꞌ ri Cristo ri xuchapleꞌj itoꞌik pa taq we kꞌisbꞌal taq qꞌij riꞌ, ri xchaꞌloq rumal ri Dios are majoꞌq katiktaj loq ri uwachulew.
who was indeed foreordained before the foundation of the world, but manifested in these last times for you,
21 Xa rumal ri Jesús, kikojo chi ri Dios xukꞌastajisaj ri Jesús xuqujeꞌ xunimarisaj uqꞌij, rumal laꞌ wetaꞌm chi ri ikojobꞌal xuqujeꞌ ri kuꞌlibꞌal ikꞌuꞌx jeqel chirij ri Dios.
who through him do believe in God who raised him from the dead, and gave him glory, that your faith and hope might be in God.
22 Kamik kꞌut chi ixchꞌajchꞌoj chik rumal xinimaj ri qas tzij, pa ri Uxlabꞌixel, qas chiloqꞌaj iwibꞌ rukꞌ ronojel iwanimaꞌ xuqujeꞌ rukꞌ ronojel ichuqꞌabꞌ.
Having purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit, to unfeigned love of the brethren, love one another with a pure heart fervently,
23 Ix xixalax chik junmul, man ix rijaꞌl ta chik winaq ri xaq kamel xane maj ikamik rumal cher ix rijaꞌl chi ri utzij ri Dios ri kꞌaslik chibꞌe qꞌij saq: (aiōn g165)
having been begotten again, not with corruptible seed, but with incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides forever. (aiōn g165)
24 Konojel ri winaq xaq jer e kꞌo qꞌayes, ri kijeꞌlal junam rukꞌ ri kotzꞌiꞌj ri kakꞌiy cho ri saq; are kachaqiꞌjar ri qꞌayes katzaq ri ukotzꞌiꞌjal.
For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass; the grass withers, and its flower fails away:
