ಜ್ಞಾನೋಕ್ತಿಗಳು 25
1 ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಲೇಖಕರು ಬರೆದಿರುವ ಇವು ಕೂಡ ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನ ಜ್ಞಾನೋಕ್ತಿಗಳೇ.
These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.
2 ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ರಹಸ್ಯ ಮಾಡುವುದು ದೇವರ ಮಹಿಮೆ. ಒಂದು ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುವುದು ರಾಜರ ಮಹಿಮೆ.
It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.
3 ಆಕಾಶದ ಎತ್ತರವನ್ನು, ಭೂಮಿಯ ಆಳವನ್ನು ಯಾರೂ ಗ್ರಹಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅರಸರ ಹೃದಯವು ಅಗೋಚರ.
The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.
4 ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯಿಂದ ಕಲ್ಮಷವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿದರೆ, ಅಕ್ಕಸಾಲಿಗನಿಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಪಾತ್ರೆಯು ರೂಪಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದು.
Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the refiner.
5 ಅರಸನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಾನದಿಂದ ದುಷ್ಟರನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿದರೆ, ಆಗ ಅವನ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನವು ನೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಿರವಾಗುವುದು.
Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
6 ಅರಸನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡ; ದೊಡ್ಡವರಿಗೆ ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಬೇಡ.
Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:
7 ಘನವಂತರ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ತಗ್ಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ, “ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾ,” ಎಂದು ಅರಸನು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳುವುದು ಲೇಸು. ನೀವು ಏನನ್ನೋ ಕಂಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ,
For better it is that it be said to thee, Come up here; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thy eyes have seen.
8 ದುಡುಕಿ ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹೋಗಬೇಡ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಅವಮಾನ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ, ನೀನು ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏನು ಮಾಡುವೆ?
Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in its end, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.
9 ನಿನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಚರ್ಚಿಸು; ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರ ಗುಟ್ಟನ್ನು ಬಹಿರಂಗಪಡಿಸಬೇಡ,
Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and reveal not a secret to another:
10 ಅದನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವವನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಅವಮಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಗುರಿಪಡಿಸಿಯಾನು; ನಿನ್ನ ಅಪಕೀರ್ತಿಯು ಹೋಗದೆ ಇದ್ದೀತು.
Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thy infamy turn not away.
11 ಸಮಯೋಚಿತವಾದ ಮಾತು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂಗಾರದ ಸೇಬಿನಂತಿದೆ.
A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
12 ಕೇಳುವ ಕಿವಿಗೆ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯ ತಿದ್ದುವಿಕೆಯು ಬಂಗಾರದ ಮುರು; ಚೊಕ್ಕ ಬಂಗಾರದ ಆಭರಣ.
As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
13 ಸುಗ್ಗಿಯ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಮದ ಶೀತದ ಹಾಗೆ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುವವರಿಗೆ ನಂಬಿಗಸ್ತನಾದ ಸೇವಕನಿದ್ದಾನೆ; ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ತನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನರ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ಅವನು ನವಚೈತನ್ಯಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ.
As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
14 ದಾನ ಕೊಡದೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದು ಹೊಗಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನು, ಮಳೆ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಮೋಡಗಳ ಮತ್ತು ಗಾಳಿಯ ಹಾಗೆ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ.
Whoever boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.
15 ತಾಳ್ಮೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಪ್ರಭುವನ್ನು ಒಲಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು; ಮೃದುವಾದ ಮಾತು ಎಲುಬನ್ನು ಮುರಿಯುತ್ತದೆ.
By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
16 ಜೇನನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೀಯಾ? ಅದನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ತೃಪ್ತಿಯಾಗುವಷ್ಟೇ ತಿನ್ನು; ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ತುಂಬಾ ತಿಂದರೆ ಕಾರಬೇಕಾದೀತು.
Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled with it, and vomit it.
17 ನಿನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಅಪರೂಪಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಇಡು; ಇಲ್ಲವಾದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಅವನು ಬೇಸರಗೊಂಡು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಗೆಮಾಡಾನು.
Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour’s house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.
18 ತನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಸುಳ್ಳುಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಹೇಳುವವನು ಚಮಟಿಗೆ, ಖಡ್ಗ, ಹರಿತವಾದ ಬಾಣವಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a club, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
19 ಕಷ್ಟಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪನಂಬಿಗಸ್ತನಾದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಲ್ಲಿಯ ಭರವಸೆಯು ಮುರಿದ ಹಲ್ಲು, ಕೀಲು ತಪ್ಪಿದ ಪಾದವು.
Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
20 ಮನಗುಂದಿದವನಿಗೆ ಸಂಗೀತ ಹಾಡುವುದು ಚಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಟ್ಟೆ ಬಿಚ್ಚಿದ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ಹುಳಿ ಉಪ್ಪನ್ನು ಗಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹಚ್ಚಿದಂತೆಯೂ.
As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon soda, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
21 ನಿನ್ನ ಶತ್ರು ಹಸಿದಿದ್ದರೆ ಉಣ್ಣುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಊಟಕೊಡು; ಅವನು ಬಾಯಾರಿದ್ದರೆ ಕುಡಿಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನೀರು ಕೊಡು.
If thy enemy shall hunger, give him bread to eat; and if he shall thirst, give him water to drink:
22 ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅದು ಅವನ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಉರಿಯುವ ಬೆಂಕಿಯ ಕೆಂಡಗಳನ್ನು ಸುರಿಯುವಂತಿರುವುದು; ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿನಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಫಲ ಕೊಡುವರು.
For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.
23 ಅನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿತ ಮಳೆಯನ್ನು ತರುವ ಉತ್ತರದ ಗಾಳಿಯಂತೆ ಚಾಡಿಯ ನಾಲಿಗೆ ಕೋಪದ ಮುಖ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ.
The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.
24 ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜಗಳಗಂಟಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇರುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ, ಮಾಳಿಗೆಯ ಒಂದು ಮೂಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುವುದು ಲೇಸು.
It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.
25 ಬಾಯಾರಿದವನಿಗೆ ತಣ್ಣೀರು ಹೇಗೋ ದೂರದೇಶದಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಸಮಾಚಾರವು ಹಾಗೆಯೇ.
As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
26 ದುಷ್ಟರ ಮುಂದೆ ನೀತಿವಂತನು ಸೋಲುವುದು, ಕೆಸರಿನ ಬುಗ್ಗೆಗೂ ಕೊಳಕು ಒರತೆಗೂ ಸಮಾನ.
A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.
27 ಜೇನನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ತಿನ್ನುವುದು ಹಿತವಲ್ಲ; ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಸ್ವಂತ ಗೌರವವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುವುದು ಗೌರವವಲ್ಲ.
It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.
28 ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತ ಆತ್ಮವನ್ನು ಆಳದಿರುವವನು, ಗೋಡೆ ಬಿದ್ದ ಹಾಳೂರಿಗೆ ಸಮಾನ.
He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
