ಜ್ಞಾನೋಕ್ತಿಗಳು 20
1 ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವು ಪರಿಹಾಸ್ಯಕರವಾಗಿದೆ; ಮಾದಕ ಮದ್ಯವು ಉದ್ರೇಕಿಸುತ್ತದೆ; ಇವುಗಳಿಂದ ಮೋಸ ಹೋದವನು ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಲ್ಲ.
Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray, intoxicated, unintentional sin ·error·by them is not wise.
2 ಅರಸನ ಭಯವು ಸಿಂಹದ ಘರ್ಜನೆಯಂತಿದೆ; ಅವನ ಕೋಪವನ್ನೆಬ್ಬಿಸುವವರು, ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪಾಯ ತಂದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವರು.
The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion. He who provokes him to anger sins ·deviates (from the standard goal)· against his own life.
3 ಕಲಹವನ್ನು ತಡೆಯುವವನು, ಮಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋಗ್ಯನು; ಆದರೆ ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಜಗಳವಾಡಲು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ.
It is kavod ·weighty glory· for a man to keep aloof from strife; but every fool will be quarreling.
4 ಮೈಗಳ್ಳನು ಮಳೆಗಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳುಮೆ ಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ಆದಕಾರಣ ಸುಗ್ಗಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸಿದರೂ ಏನೂ ಸಿಕ್ಕುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter; therefore he shall begin harvest, and have nothing.
5 ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಹೃದಯದ ಆಲೋಚನೆಯು ಆಳವಾದ ಬಾವಿಯ ನೀರಿನಂತಿದೆ; ವಿವೇಕಿಯು ಅದನ್ನು ಸೇದುವನು.
Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.
6 ಅನೇಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನು ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತ ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕತೆಯನ್ನು ಸಾರುವನು; ಆದರೆ ನಂಬಿಗಸ್ತನಾದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಯಾರು ಕಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಲ್ಲರು?
Many men claim to be men of chesed ·loving-kindness·, but who can find a faithful man?
7 ನೀತಿವಂತನು ನಿರ್ದೋಷವಾಗಿ ಜೀವಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಅವನನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸುವ ಅವನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದ ಹೊಂದುವರು.
A upright man walks in integrity. Blessed are his children after him.
8 ಅರಸನು ತನ್ನ ನ್ಯಾಯತೀರ್ಪಿನ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೂತಿರುವಾಗ, ತನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಸಕಲ ಕೆಟ್ಟತನವನ್ನು ತೂರುವನು.
A king who sits on the throne of judgment scatters away all evil with his eyes.
9 “ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಶುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನಾನು ಶುದ್ಧನೂ ಪಾಪರಹಿತನೂ,” ಎಂದು ಯಾರು ಹೇಳಬಲ್ಲರು?
Who can say, “I have made my heart pure. I am clean and without habitual sin ·missing the mark·?”
10 ಮೋಸದ ತೂಕಗಳೂ, ಮೋಸದ ಅಳತೆಗಳೂ ಇವೆರಡೂ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯ.
Differing weights and differing measures, both of them alike are an abomination to Adonai.
11 ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾದರೋ ತಮ್ಮ ಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳಿಂದಲೇ, ತಾವು ಶುದ್ಧರೋ ಯಥಾರ್ಥರೋ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ತೋರ್ಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
Even a child makes himself known by his doings, whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.
12 ಕೇಳುವ ಕಿವಿ, ನೋಡುವ ಕಣ್ಣು ಇವೆರಡನ್ನು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
The sh'ma ·hearing obeying· ear, and the seeing eye, Adonai has made even both of them.
13 ನೀವು ನಿದ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿದರೆ, ನೀವು ಬಡತನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊನೆಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೀರಿ; ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರೆದರೆ, ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಆಹಾರ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ!
Don’t 'ahav ·affectionately love· sleep, lest you come to poverty. Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.
14 “ಇದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಲ್ಲ ಇದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಲ್ಲ!” ಎಂದು ಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅದನ್ನೇ ಹೊಗಳುತ್ತಾನೆ.
“It’s no good, it’s no good,” says the buyer; but when he is gone his way, then he boasts.
15 ಬಂಗಾರವೂ ಮಾಣಿಕ್ಯಗಳ ರಾಶಿಯೂ ಇವೆ; ಆದರೆ ಪರಿಜ್ಞಾನದ ತುಟಿಗಳು ಅಪರೂಪದ ರತ್ನವಾಗಿವೆ.
There is gold and abundance of rubies; but the lips of knowledge are a rare jewel.
16 ಅಪರಿಚಿತನಿಗೆ ಭದ್ರತೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡುವವನ ವಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೋ; ವಿದೇಶಿಯರಿಗೆ ಇದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಒತ್ತೆ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೋ.
Take the garment of one who puts up collateral for a stranger; and hold him in pledge for a wayward woman.
17 ವಂಚನೆಯಿಂದ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ ಆಹಾರವು ರುಚಿ; ಆದರೆ ಆಮೇಲೆ ಅವನ ಬಾಯಿಯು ಮರಳಿನಿಂದ ತುಂಬುವುದು.
Fraudulent food is sweet to a man, but afterwards his mouth is filled with gravel.
18 ಸಲಹೆಯಿಂದ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳು ನೆರವೆರುವವು; ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯ ಸಲಹೆಯಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಡಿ.
Plans are established by advice; by wise guidance you wage war!
19 ಚಾಡಿಕೋರನು ಗುಟ್ಟುಗಳನ್ನು ರಟ್ಟುಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಆದಕಾರಣ ಹರಟೆ ಹೊಡೆಯುವವನ ಸಹವಾಸ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ.
He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets; therefore don’t keep company with him who opens wide his lips.
20 ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ತನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ಶಪಿಸುವವನ ದೀಪವು ಮಧ್ಯರಾತ್ರಿಯ ಕತ್ತಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆರಿಹೋಗುವುದು.
Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp candle shall be put out in blackness of darkness.
21 ಪ್ರಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ತ್ವರೆಯಾಗಿ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಆಸ್ತಿಯೂ ಅಂತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವಾಗಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning, won’t be blessed in the end.
22 ನೀನು, “ಕೇಡಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿತೀರಿಸುವೆನು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಬೇಡ; ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರನ್ನು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸು; ಆಗ ಅವರೇ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ಉದ್ಧರಿಸುವನು.
Don’t say, “I will pay back evil.” Wait for Adonai, and he will save you.
23 ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸದ ತೂಕಗಳು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯವಾಗಿವೆ; ಅಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕ ತಕ್ಕಡಿಗಳು ಅವರನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
Adonai detests differing weights, and dishonest scales are not pleasing.
24 ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಗಳನ್ನು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿರ್ದೇಶಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ತನ್ನ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಲ್ಲನು?
A man’s steps are from Adonai; how then can man understand his way?
25 ದುಡುಕಿ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠೆಗಾಗಿ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಹರಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಆಮೇಲೆ ವಿಚಾರಿಸುವುದು ಉರುಲಾಗಿದೆ.
It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows.
26 ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಾದ ಅರಸನು ದುಷ್ಟರನ್ನು ತೂರುವನು; ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಣದ ಚಕ್ರವನ್ನು ಎಳೆಯುವನು.
A wise king winnows out the wicked, and drives the threshing wheel over them.
27 ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಆತ್ಮವು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ದೀಪವಾಗಿದೆ. ಅದು ಅವನ ಅಂತರಂಗವನ್ನು ಶೋಧಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
The spirit of man is Adonai’s lamp candle, searching all his innermost parts.
28 ಪ್ರೀತಿಯೂ ನಂಬಿಗಸ್ತಿಕೆಯೂ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಕಾಯುತ್ತವೆ; ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದಲೇ ಅವನ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನವು ಸ್ಥಿರಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ.
Chesed ·Loving-kindness· and faithfulness keep the king safe. His throne is sustained by chesed ·loving-kindness·.
29 ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರ ಮಹಿಮೆ ಅವರ ಬಲವೇ; ಮುದುಕರ ವೈಭವ ನರೆತ ತಲೆಯೇ.
The glory of young men is their strength. The splendor of old men is their gray hair.
30 ಗಾಯಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಏಟುಗಳು ದುಷ್ಟತ್ವವನ್ನು ತೊಳೆಯುತ್ತವೆ; ಪೆಟ್ಟುಗಳು ಅಂತರಂಗವನ್ನೂ ಶುದ್ಧಿಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತವೆ.
Wounding blows cleanse away evil, and beatings purge the innermost parts.
