ಅರಣ್ಯಕಾಂಡ 25
1 ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಶಿಟ್ಟೀಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ, ಅವರು ಮೋವಾಬಿನ ಪುತ್ರಿಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಜಾರತ್ವ ಮಾಡಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿದರು.
Israel stayed in Shittim, and the men began to prostitute themselves with women of Moab,
2 ಆ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ದೇವರುಗಳ ಬಲಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಕರೆದರು. ಇವರು ತಿಂದು ಅವರ ದೇವರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಬಿದ್ದರು.
for the Moabites had invited the people to the sacrifices to their gods. So the people ate and bowed down to Moabite gods.
3 ಹೀಗೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಬಾಳ್ ಪೆಯೋರಿನೊಂದಿಗೆ ತಾವೇ ಕೂಡಿ ಪೂಜಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡರು.
The men of Israel joined in worshiping Baal of Peor, and Yahweh's anger was kindled against Israel.
4 ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಮೋಶೆಗೆ, “ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಕೋಪಾಗ್ನಿಯು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಿಂದ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನೀನು ಜನರ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ಅವರನ್ನು ಹಗಲು ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕು.”
Yahweh said to Moses, “Kill all the leaders of the people and hang them up before me to expose them in the daylight, so that my fierce anger may turn away from Israel.”
5 ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಮೋಶೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳಿಗೆ, “ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬನೂ ಬಾಳ್ ಪೆಯೋರಿನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕೂಡಿ ಪೂಜಿಸಿರುವ ನಿನ್ನ ಜನರನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಬೇಕು,” ಎಂದನು.
So Moses said to Israel's leaders, “Each of you must execute his people who have joined in worshiping Baal of Peor.”
6 ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು ಮೋಶೆಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ದೇವದರ್ಶನ ಗುಡಾರದ ಮುಂದೆ ಅಳುತ್ತಿರುವ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಸಮೂಹಕ್ಕೂ ಕಾಣುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಿದ್ಯಾನ್ ಮಹಿಳೆಯನ್ನು ಕರೆತಂದನು.
Then one of the men of Israel came and brought among his family members a Midianite woman. This happened in the sight of Moses and all the community of the people of Israel, while they were weeping at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
7 ಕೂಡಲೆ ಮಾಹಾಯಾಜಕ ಆರೋನನ ಮಗನಾಗಿದ್ದ ಎಲಿಯಾಜರನ ಮಗ ಫೀನೆಹಾಸನು ಅದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ, ಜನರ ಮಧ್ಯದಿಂದ ಎದ್ದು, ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈಟಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡು,
When Phinehas son of Eleazar son of Aaron the priest, saw that, he rose up from among the community and took a spear in his hand.
8 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನವನಾದ ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಡೇರೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನವನನ್ನೂ ಆ ಮಹಿಳೆಯನ್ನೂ ಒಂದೇ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ಇಬ್ಬರ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ತಿವಿದನು. ಹೀಗೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ಉಂಟಾಗಿದ್ದ ವ್ಯಾಧಿಯು ನಿಂತುಹೋಯಿತು.
He followed the Israelite man into the tent and thrust the spear through both of their bodies, both the Israelite man and the woman. So a plague that God had sent on the people of Israel stopped.
9 ಆದರೂ, ವ್ಯಾಧಿಯಿಂದ ಸತ್ತವರು 24,000 ಮಂದಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
Those who died by the plague were twenty-four thousand in number.
10 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಮೋಶೆಗೆ,
Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,
11 “ಯಾಜಕನಾದ ಆರೋನನ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗನೂ, ಎಲಿಯಾಜರನ ಮಗ ಫೀನೆಹಾಸನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಆಸಕ್ತನಾಗಿದ್ದು, ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ರೋಷದಿಂದ ಅವರನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡದ ಹಾಗೆ, ನನ್ನ ಕೋಪವನ್ನು ಅವರ ಮೇಲಿನಿಂದ ತಿರುಗಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
“Phinehas son of Eleazar son of Aaron the priest, has turned my rage away from the people of Israel because he was passionate with my zeal among them. So I have not consumed the people of Israel in my fierceness.
12 ಆದಕಾರಣ, ನಾನು ಅವನೊಂದಿಗೆ ನನ್ನ ಸಮಾಧಾನದ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳು.
Therefore say, 'Yahweh says, “Look, I am giving to Phinehas my covenant of peace.
13 ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ದೇವರ ಗೌರವವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡಲು ಆಸಕ್ತನಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಪಾಪ ಪ್ರಾಯಶ್ಚಿತ್ತ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅವನಿಗೂ ಅವನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬರುವ ಅವನ ಸಂತತಿಗೂ ನಿತ್ಯ ಯಾಜಕತ್ವದ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
For him and his descendants after him, it will be a covenant of an everlasting priesthood because he was zealous for me, his God. He has atoned for the people of Israel.”'”
14 ಮಿದ್ಯಾನ್ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಸಂಗಡ ಹತನಾದ ಆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನವನ ಹೆಸರು ಜಿಮ್ರಿ, ಅವನು ಸಿಮೆಯೋನ್ ಕುಲದವರಲ್ಲಿ ಗೋತ್ರದ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥನಾಗಿದ್ದ ಸಾಲೂ ಎಂಬುವನ ಮಗನು.
Now the name of the Israelite man who was killed with the Midianite woman was Zimri son of Salu, a leader of an ancestor's family among the Simeonites.
15 ಹತಳಾದ ಆ ಮಿದ್ಯಾನ್ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಹೆಸರು ಕೊಜ್ಬೀ, ಅವಳು ಮಿದ್ಯಾನ್ಯರ ಪ್ರಜೆಯ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥನೂ ಮನೆಗೆ ಯಜಮಾನನೂ ಆಗಿರುವ ಚೂರ್ ಎಂಬವನ ಮಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದಳು.
The name of the Midianite woman who was killed was Kozbi daughter of Zur, who was head of a tribe and family in Midian.
16 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಮೋಶೆಗೆ,
So Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,
17 “ಮಿದ್ಯಾನ್ಯರನ್ನು ವೈರಿ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದು ಹೊಡೆಯಬೇಕು.
“Treat the Midianites as enemies and attack them,
18 ಅವರು ಪೆಯೋರಿನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಪೆಯೋರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ವ್ಯಾಧಿಯ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಹತಳಾದ ತಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರಿಯಾಗಿಯೂ, ಮಿದ್ಯಾನ್ಯರ ಪ್ರಧಾನನ ಮಗಳಾಗಿಯೂ, ಇದ್ದ ಕೊಜ್ಬೀಯ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನಿಮಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಮೋಸಗಳಿಂದ ನಿಮಗೆ ಉಪದ್ರವ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾರೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
for they treated you like enemies with their deceitfulness. They led you into evil in the case of Peor and in the case of their sister Kozbi, the daughter of a leader in Midian, who was killed on the day of the plague in the matter of Peor.”
