ನೆಹೆಮೀಯನು 4
1 ನಾವು ಗೋಡೆಯನ್ನು ಪುನಃ ಕಟ್ಟುವ ವರ್ತಮಾನವನ್ನು ಸನ್ಬಲ್ಲಟನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ, ಅವನು ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡು, ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಗೇಲಿಮಾಡಿ,
And it came to pass that when Sanballat heard that we built the wall, he was angry and very indignant, and mocked the Jews.
2 ತಮ್ಮ ಜೊತೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವವರ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ಸಮಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸೈನ್ಯದ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ, “ಈ ಬಲಹೀನರಾದ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಮಾಡುವುದೇನು? ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಗೋಡೆಯನ್ನು ಪುನಃ ಕಟ್ಟುತ್ತಾರೆಯೇ? ಬಲಿಯನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸುವರೋ? ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಟ್ಟುಹೋದಾಗ, ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ತುಂಡುಗಳ ರಾಶಿಯಿಂದ ಕಟ್ಟಡಕ್ಕೆ ಸೂಕ್ತವಾದ ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊರತೆಗೆಯಲು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆಯೇ?” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And he spoke before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? shall they be permitted to go on? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Will they revive the stones out of the heaps of rubbish, when they are burned?
3 ಅವನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲೇ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯನಾದ ಟೋಬೀಯನು, “ಅವರು ಕಟ್ಟುವ ಕಲ್ಲು ಗೋಡೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ನರಿ ಹಾರಿದರೆ, ಅದು ಬಿದ್ದುಹೋಗುವುದು!” ಎಂದು ಅಣಕಿಸಿದನು.
And Tobijah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox went up, it would break down their stone wall. —
4 ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರೇ, ಆಲಿಸಿರಿ; ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಎಷ್ಟು ಹೀಯಾಳಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ನೀವು ಅವರ ನಿಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಅವರ ತಲೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿ, ಸೆರೆಯ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸೂರೆಯಾಗಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿರಿ.
Hear, our God, for we are despised, and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in a land of captivity!
5 ಅವರು ಕಟ್ಟುವವರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕೆಣಕಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ಅವರ ಅಪರಾಧವನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಬೇಡಿರಿ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಇರುವ ಅವರ ಪಾಪಗಳನ್ನು ಅಳಿಸಿಬಿಡಬೇಡಿರಿ ಎಂದು ನಾನು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದೆ.
And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee; for they have provoked the builders.
6 ಹೀಗೆ ನಾವು ಪುನಃ ಗೋಡೆ ಕಟ್ಟುವುದನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರಿಸಿದೆವು. ಗೋಡೆ ಅರ್ಧ ಎತ್ತರದವರೆಗೂ ಆಯಿತು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಜನರು ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮನಸ್ಸುಳ್ಳವರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
But we built the wall; and all the wall was joined together to the half thereof; for the people had a mind to work.
7 ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಗೋಡೆಯ ದುರಸ್ತಿಕಾರ್ಯ ಮುಂದುವರಿದಿದೆ ಹಾಗು ಅದರ ಸಂದುಗಳು ಮತ್ತೆ ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿವೆ ಎಂದು ಸನ್ಬಲ್ಲಟನೂ ಟೋಬೀಯನೂ ಅರಬಿಯರೂ ಅಮ್ಮೋನ್ಯರೂ ಅಷ್ಡೋದ್ಯರೂ ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಬಹು ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡರು.
And it came to pass, when Sanballat, and Tobijah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the walls of Jerusalem were being repaired, that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth,
8 ಅವರು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೂ, ಅಭ್ಯಂತರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಬರಲು ಏಕವಾಗಿ ಒಳಸಂಚು ಮಾಡಿದರು.
and conspired all of them together to come to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it.
9 ಆದರೆ ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಮಾಡಿ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಹಗಲು ಕಾವಲು ಇಟ್ಟೆವು.
Then we prayed to our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.
10 ಆಗ ಯೆಹೂದದವರು, “ಹೊರೆ ಹೊರುವವರ ಬಲವು ಕುಂದಿಹೋಯಿತು; ಕಲ್ಲುಮಣ್ಣಿನ ರಾಶಿ ಬಹಳವಾಗಿದೆ; ಈ ಗೋಡೆಯನ್ನು ಪುನಃ ಕಟ್ಟುವುದು ನಮ್ಮಿಂದಾಗದು,” ಎಂದರು.
And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens faileth, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build at the wall.
11 ನಮ್ಮ ವೈರಿಗಳು, “ಅವರು ತಿಳಿಯದ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ, ನೋಡದ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ನಾವು ಅವರ ನಡುವೆ ಬಂದು, ಅವರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿ, ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿಬಿಡೋಣ,” ಎಂದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come into the midst of them and kill them, and put an end to the work.
12 ಅವರ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿರುವ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ನಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, “ನೀವು ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾರು,” ಎಂದು ನಮಗೆ ಹತ್ತು ಬಾರಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
And it came to pass that when the Jews that dwelt by them came and told us so ten times, from all the places whence they returned to us,
13 ಆದಕಾರಣ ನಾನು ಗೋಡೆಯ ಹಿಂದೆ ಇರುವ ತಗ್ಗಿನ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಎತ್ತರವಾದ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಜನರನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದೆನು. ತಮ್ಮ ಖಡ್ಗಗಳನ್ನೂ, ತಮ್ಮ ಈಟಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ತಮ್ಮ ಬಿಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಜನರನ್ನು, ಅವರವರ ವಂಶಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದೆನು.
I set in the lower places behind the wall in exposed places, I even set the people, according to their families, with their swords, their spears and their bows.
14 ನಾನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಸಂದರ್ಶಿಸಿ, ಅವರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಂತು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠರಿಗೂ, ಅಧಿಕಾರಸ್ಥರಿಗೂ, ಇತರ ಜನರಿಗೂ ಸಂಬೋಧಿಸಿ, “ನೀವು ಅವರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಭಯಪಡಬೇಡಿರಿ. ದೊಡ್ಡವನಾಗಿಯೂ, ಭಯಂಕರನಾಗಿಯೂ ಇರುವ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪುತ್ರರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ, ಪುತ್ರಿಯರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಗಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿರಿ,” ಎಂದೆನು.
And I looked, and rose up, and said to the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not afraid of them: remember the Lord who is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your houses.
15 ನಿಮ್ಮ ಶತ್ರುಗಳು ಅವರ ಕುತಂತ್ರವು ನಮಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾಯಿತೆಂದು ದೇವರು ಅದನ್ನು ವ್ಯರ್ಥ ಮಾಡಿದನೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರು. ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಹೋದರು. ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರು ನಮ್ಮ ನಮ್ಮ ಗೋಡೆಯ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಕೈಹಾಕಿದೆವು.
And it came to pass that when our enemies heard that it was known to us, and that God had defeated their counsel, we returned all of us to the wall, every one to his work.
16 ಅಂದಿನಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಧ ಜನರು ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರತರಾದರು; ಮಿಕ್ಕ ಅರ್ಧ ಜನರು ಈಟಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಗುರಾಣಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಬಿಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಕವಚಗಳನ್ನೂ ಧರಿಸಿದರು. ಪ್ರಧಾನರು ಗೋಡೆ ಕಟ್ಟುವವರಾದ ಯೆಹೂದ ಮನೆಯವರ ಹಿಂದೆ ನಿಂತರು.
And from that time forth the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held the spears, and the shields, and the bows, and the corslets; and the captains were behind all the house of Judah.
17 ಹೊರೆ ಹೊರುವವರು ಒಂದು ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಹೊರೆಹೊತ್ತು, ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಈಟಿ ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದರು.
They that built on the wall, and they that bore burdens, with those that loaded, wrought in the work with one hand, and with the other they held a weapon.
18 ಕಟ್ಟುವವರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಖಡ್ಗವನ್ನು ಸೊಂಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡು ಕಟ್ಟುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ತುತೂರಿ ಊದುವವನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದನು.
And the builders had every one his sword girded by his side, and built. And he that sounded the trumpet was by me.
19 ಆಗ ನಾನು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠರಿಗೂ, ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಗೂ, ಇತರ ಜನರಿಗೂ, “ಕೆಲಸವು ದೊಡ್ಡದೂ, ವಿಸ್ತಾರವೂ ಆದದ್ದು. ನಾವು ಗೋಡೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಚದರಿ, ಒಬ್ಬರಿಗೊಬ್ಬರು ದೂರವಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
And I said to the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and extended, and we are scattered upon the wall, one far from another:
20 ನಿಮಗೆ ಕೊಂಬಿನ ಧ್ವನಿಯು ಯಾವ ಸ್ಥಳದಿಂದ ಕೇಳಿಬರುವುದೋ, ಆ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಕೂಡಿಬನ್ನಿರಿ. ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರು ನಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವರು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದೆನು.
in what place ye hear the sound of the trumpet, thither shall ye assemble to us; our God will fight for us.
21 ಹೀಗೆ ನಾವು ಅರುಣೋದಯದಿಂದ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರಗಳು ಮೂಡುವವರೆಗೂ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆವು. ನನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಧಮಂದಿ ಭರ್ಜಿ ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.
And we laboured in the work; and half of them held the spears from the rising of the dawn till the stars appeared.
22 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ನಾನು ಆ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನರಿಗೆ, “ನಿಮ್ಮ ಆಳುಗಳು ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ಕಾವಲಾಗಿರುವಂತೆಯೂ, ಹಗಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ನಡೆಸುವಂತೆಯೂ ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಆಳುಗಳೊಡನೆ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲೇ ವಾಸಮಾಡಬೇಕು,” ಎಂದು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆನು.
Likewise at the same time I said to the people, Let every one with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and [be for] labour in the day.
23 ನಾನೂ, ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರೂ, ಸೇವಕರೂ, ಮೈಗಾವಲಿನವರೂ ಸ್ನಾನದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊರತು, ಬೇರೆ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಲಿಲ್ಲ.
And neither I, nor my brethren, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard that followed me, none of us put off our garments: every one had his weapon on his right side.
