ಮತ್ತಾಯನು 26
1 ಯೇಸು ಈ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಹೇಳಿ ಮುಗಿಸಿದ ನಂತರ ತಮ್ಮ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ,
AND it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples,
2 “ಎರಡು ದಿವಸಗಳಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಪಸ್ಕಹಬ್ಬ ಇರುವುದೆಂದು ನೀವು ಬಲ್ಲಿರಿ. ಆಗ ಮನುಷ್ಯಪುತ್ರನಾದ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಶಿಲುಬೆಗೆ ಹಾಕಲು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಡುವರು,” ಎಂದರು.
Ye know that after two days is the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.
3 ಆಗ ಮುಖ್ಯಯಾಜಕರೂ ಜನರ ಹಿರಿಯರೂ ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಸೇರಿ, ಕಾಯಫನೆಂಬ ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕನ ಅರಮನೆಗೆ ಬಂದು
Then were the chief priests and scribes, and the elders of the people gathered together in the palace of the high-priest, called Caiaphas.
4 ತಾವು ಕುಯುಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಕೊಲ್ಲಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆಲೋಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
And they consulted together, how they might seize Jesus by guile, and put him to death.
5 ಆದರೆ ಅವರು, “ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಗದ್ದಲವಾದೀತು, ಹಬ್ಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇಡ,” ಎಂದರು.
But they said, Not on the feast-day, lest there be a tumult among the people.
6 ಯೇಸು ಬೇಥಾನ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಷ್ಠರೋಗಿಯಾದ ಸೀಮೋನನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು.
Now when Jesus was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
7 ಯೇಸು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕುಳಿತಿದ್ದಾಗ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯು ಬಹು ಬೆಲೆಯುಳ್ಳ ಸುಗಂಧ ತೈಲದ ಭರಣಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, ಅದನ್ನು ಅವರ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಸುರಿದಳು.
there came to him a woman having an alabaster-box of very precious aromatic ointment, and poured it upon his head as he sat at table.
8 ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ಇದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡು, “ಏಕೆ ಈ ವ್ಯರ್ಥ ಖರ್ಚು?
But when the disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, For what end is this waste?
9 ಈ ತೈಲವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಬೆಲೆಗೆ ಮಾರಿ ಬಡವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಡಬಹುದಾಗಿತ್ತಲ್ಲಾ?” ಎಂದರು.
For this ointment might have been sold for a considerable sum, and given to the poor.
10 ಯೇಸು ಅದನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದವರಾಗಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಏಕೆ ಈ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಗೆ ತೊಂದರೆಪಡಿಸುತ್ತೀರಿ? ಈಕೆ ನನಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾಳೆ.
Then Jesus knowing it, said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath performed a good act upon me:
11 ಬಡವರು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಇರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
for the poor ye have always with you, but me ye have not always:
12 ಈಕೆ ಈ ತೈಲವನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ದೇಹದ ಮೇಲೆ ಸುರಿದದ್ದರಿಂದ, ನನ್ನ ಶವಸಂಸ್ಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾಳೆ.
for in pouring this odoriferous ointment on my body, she hath done it for my burial.
13 ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ, ಲೋಕದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಿ ಸುವಾರ್ತೆಯು ಸಾರಲಾಗುವದೋ, ಅಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಈ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಸಹ ಈಕೆಯ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಾರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಲಾಗುವುದು,” ಎಂದರು.
Verily I say unto you, Wherever this Gospel is preached through the whole world, what she hath done shall be also spoken of for a memorial of her.
14 ಆಗ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಮಂದಿ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನಾದ ಯೂದ ಇಸ್ಕರಿಯೋತ ಎಂಬುವನು ಮುಖ್ಯಯಾಜಕರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ,
Then went one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, to the chief priests,
15 “ನಾನು ಆತನನ್ನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟರೆ ನೀವು ನನಗೆ ಏನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತೀರಿ?” ಎಂದನು. ಆಗ ಅವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮೂವತ್ತು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯ ನಾಣ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಎಣಿಸಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
and said, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? Then they placed before him thirty pieces of silver.
16 ಅಂದಿನಿಂದ ಯೂದನು ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂದರ್ಭವನ್ನು ಕಾಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
And from that time he sought an opportunity to deliver him up to them.
17 ಹುಳಿಯಿಲ್ಲದ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯ ಹಬ್ಬದ ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, “ನೀವು ಪಸ್ಕದ ಊಟ ಮಾಡಲು ನಾವು ನಿಮಗಾಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬಯಸುತ್ತೀರಿ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದರು.
Then on the first day of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?
18 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೇಸು, “ನೀವು ಪಟ್ಟಣದೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಇಂಥವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ‘ನನ್ನ ಸಮಯವು ಸಮೀಪವಾಗಿದೆ. ನನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪಸ್ಕವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆಂದು ಬೋಧಕರು ಕೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ’ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿರಿ,” ಎಂದರು.
And he said, Go into the city, unto such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand: I will keep the passover with my disciples at thy house.
19 ಯೇಸು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ಪಸ್ಕವನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದರು.
And his disciples did as Jesus commanded them; and they made ready the passover.
20 ಸಂಜೆಯಾದಾಗ, ಯೇಸು ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಮಂದಿ ಶಿಷ್ಯರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡರು.
And when the evening was come, he sat down at table with the twelve.
21 ಅವರು ಊಟಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ಯೇಸು, “ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ, ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು ನನಗೆ ದ್ರೋಹ ಮಾಡುವನು,” ಎಂದರು.
And as they were eating, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
22 ಆಗ ಅವರು ದುಃಖಪಟ್ಟು, “ಕರ್ತನೇ, ಅವನು ನಾನಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲಾ?” ಎಂದು ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರೂ ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿದರು.
And exceedingly grieved, they began to say to him every one of them, Lord, am I the person?
23 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೇಸು ಉತ್ತರವಾಗಿ, “ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಪಾತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೈ ಅದ್ದಿದವನೇ ನನಗೆ ದ್ರೋಹ ಮಾಡುವನು.
But he answering said, He that dippeth his hand with me into the dish, that man shall betray me.
24 ಮನುಷ್ಯಪುತ್ರನಾದ ನನ್ನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದಿರುವ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆದರೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯಪುತ್ರನಾದ ನನಗೆ ಯಾವನು ದ್ರೋಹಬಗೆಯುತ್ತಾನೋ ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಕಷ್ಟ! ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಹುಟ್ಟದೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು,” ಎಂದರು.
The Son of man indeed is departing, as it is written of him: but wo to that man, by whom the Son of man is betrayed! well had it been for that man if he had never had a being.
25 ಆಗ ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಡಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದ ಯೂದನು, “ಗುರುವೇ, ಅವನು ನಾನಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲಾ?” ಎಂದನು. “ನೀನೇ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೀ,” ಎಂದು ಯೇಸು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
Then Judas, who betrayed him, addressing him said, Master, is it I? He saith to him, Thou hast named the person.
26 ಅವರು ಊಟಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ, ಯೇಸು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅದನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿ, ಮುರಿದು ತಮ್ಮ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು, “ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ, ತಿನ್ನಿರಿ, ಇದು ನನ್ನ ದೇಹ,” ಎಂದರು.
Then as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessing, brake, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
27 ಪಾತ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತಾಸ್ತುತಿ ಮಾಡಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು, “ನೀವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಇದರಲ್ಲಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯಿರಿ.
And taking the cup, and giving thanks, he gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of this:
28 ಇದು ಬಹುಜನರ ಪಾಪಗಳ ಪರಿಹಾರಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಸುರಿಸಲಾಗುವ ಹೊಸ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ನನ್ನ ರಕ್ತ.
for this is my blood, that blood of the new testament, which is shed for many, for the remission of sins.
29 ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೇಳುವುದೇನೆಂದರೆ, ಇಂದಿನಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಕುಡಿಯುವ ಆ ದಿನದವರೆಗೆ ನಾನು ಈ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದರು.
And I tell you, That I will no more henceforth drink of this produce of the vine, until that day when I drink it with you, new, in the kingdom of my Father.
30 ಬಳಿಕ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರು ಒಂದು ಕೀರ್ತನೆ ಹಾಡಿ ಓಲಿವ್ ಗುಡ್ಡಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋದರು.
And when they had sung an hymn, they went out to the mount of Olives.
31 ಆಗ ಯೇಸು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಈ ರಾತ್ರಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಓಡಿಹೋಗುವಿರಿ. ಪವಿತ್ರ ವೇದದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೀಗೆ ಬರೆದಿದೆ: “‘ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನಾನು ಕುರುಬನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆಯುವೆನು, ಮಂದೆಯ ಕುರಿಗಳು ಚದರಿಹೋಗುವುವು,’
Then saith Jesus unto them, Ye all will be offended at me this night: for it is written, “I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.”
32 ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಎದ್ದ ಮೇಲೆ, ನಿಮಗಿಂತ ಮುಂದಾಗಿ ಗಲಿಲಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವೆನು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
But after I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.
33 ಆಗ ಪೇತ್ರನು ಯೇಸುವಿಗೆ, “ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋದರೂ ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದನು.
Then Peter, taking up the word, said to him, Though all should be offended at thee, yet will I never be offended.
34 ಯೇಸು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಈ ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಂಜ ಕೂಗುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ, ನೀನು ಮೂರು ಸಾರಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನಿರಾಕರಿಸುವೆ ಎಂದು ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಸತ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
Jesus saith to him, I tell thee of a certainty, that this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
35 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಪೇತ್ರನು ಯೇಸುವಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಾಯಬೇಕಾದರೂ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನಿರಾಕರಿಸುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದನು. ಅದರಂತೆಯೇ ಉಳಿದ ಶಿಷ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
Peter said to him, Though I should die with thee, never will I deny thee. In like manner also said all the disciples.
36 ತರುವಾಯ ಯೇಸು ತಮ್ಮ ಶಿಷ್ಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಗೆತ್ಸೇಮನೆ ಎಂಬ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುವವರೆಗೆ ನೀವು ಇಲ್ಲೇ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ,” ಎಂದರು.
Then cometh Jesus with them to a place called Gethsemane, and saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.
37 ಯೇಸು ತಮ್ಮ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪೇತ್ರನನ್ನೂ ಜೆಬೆದಾಯನ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಪುತ್ರರನ್ನೂ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ, ದುಃಖಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಬಹು ವ್ಯಥೆಪಡುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದರು.
And taking Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be deeply sorrowful, and to be overwhelmed with dejection.
38 ಯೇಸು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವು ಸಾಯುವಷ್ಟು ತೀವ್ರವಾದ ದುಃಖಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಗಾಗಿದೆ. ನೀವು ಇಲ್ಲೇ ಇದ್ದು ನನ್ನೊಡನೆ ಎಚ್ಚರವಾಗಿರಿ,” ಎಂದರು.
Then saith he to them. My soul is exceeding sorrowful even to death: abide here, and watch with me.
39 ಆಮೇಲೆ ಯೇಸು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಮುಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಬೋರಲು ಬಿದ್ದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತಾ, “ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯೇ, ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾದರೆ ಈ ಪಾತ್ರೆಯು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗಲಿ. ಆದರೂ ನನ್ನ ಚಿತ್ತದಂತಲ್ಲ, ನಿನ್ನ ಚಿತ್ತದಂತೆಯೇ ಆಗಲಿ,” ಎಂದರು.
And going a little farther, he fell on his face, praying, and saying, My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.
40 ತರುವಾಯ ಯೇಸು ಬಂದು, ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ನಿದ್ರೆ ಮಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಪೇತ್ರನಿಗೆ, “ಏನು, ನೀವು ಒಂದು ಗಳಿಗೆಯಾದರೂ ನನ್ನೊಡನೆ ಎಚ್ಚರವಾಗಿರಲಾರಿರಾ?
And he cometh to the disciples, and findeth them sleeping, and he saith to Peter, Is it so, that ye have not strength to watch with me one hour?
41 ನೀವು ಶೋಧನೆಗೆ ಒಳಗಾಗದಂತೆ ಎಚ್ಚರವಾಗಿದ್ದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿರಿ. ಆತ್ಮವು ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ, ಆದರೆ ಶರೀರವು ಬಲಹೀನವಾಗಿದೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh weak.
42 ಯೇಸು ಎರಡನೆಯ ಸಾರಿ ಹೋಗಿ, ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತಾ, “ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯೇ ನಾನು ಕುಡಿಯದ ಹೊರತು ಈ ಪಾತ್ರೆಯು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗಕೂಡದಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ, ನಿನ್ನ ಚಿತ್ತವೇ ಆಗಲಿ,” ಎಂದರು.
Again the second time he went away, and prayed, saying, O my Father, If it be not possible, that this cup pass from me, but that I should drink it, thy will be done.
43 ಯೇಸು ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿದಾಗ, ಅವರು ತಿರುಗಿ ನಿದ್ರೆ ಮಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡರು. ಅವರ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಭಾರವಾಗಿದ್ದವು.
And coming, he found them asleep again, for their eyes were weighed down.
44 ಯೇಸು ಅವರನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಿ ಮೂರನೆಯ ಸಾರಿ ಅದೇ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಪುನಃ ಹೇಳಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದರು.
And leaving them, he went away again, and prayed the third time, repeating the same sentence.
45 ತರುವಾಯ ಯೇಸು ತಮ್ಮ ಶಿಷ್ಯರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಇನ್ನೂ ವಿಶ್ರಮಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೀರಾ? ಇಗೋ, ಮನುಷ್ಯಪುತ್ರನಾದ ನಾನು ಪಾಪಿಗಳ ಕೈವಶವಾಗುವ ಸಮಯವು ಸಮೀಪಿಸಿದೆ.
Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Do ye still sleep on, and repose yourselves? lo! the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
46 ಏಳಿರಿ ಹೋಗೋಣ. ಇಗೋ, ನನಗೆ ದ್ರೋಹಬಗೆಯುವವನು ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
Arise, let us go: lo! he that betrayeth me approaches.
47 ಯೇಸು ಇನ್ನೂ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗಲೇ, ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಮಂದಿ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನಾದ ಯೂದನು ಬಂದನು. ಮುಖ್ಯಯಾಜಕರ ಮತ್ತು ಜನರ ಹಿರಿಯರ ಕಡೆಯಿಂದ ಬಂದಿದ್ದ ಜನರ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಮೂಹವು ಖಡ್ಗ ದೊಣ್ಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವನೊಂದಿಗಿತ್ತು.
And while he was yet speaking, behold, Judas one of the twelve came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 ಯೇಸುವಿಗೆ ದ್ರೋಹಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಿದ್ದವನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ಯಾರಿಗೆ ಮುದ್ದಿಡುತ್ತೇನೋ ಆತನೇ ಯೇಸು; ಆತನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯಿರಿ,” ಎಂದು ಗುರುತು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದನು.
Now he that betrayed him had given them a signal, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he: seize him.
49 ಯೂದನು ಬಂದ ಕೂಡಲೇ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, “ಗುರುವೇ, ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮುದ್ದಿಟ್ಟನು.
And immediately approaching to Jesus, he said, Hail, master; and kissed him.
50 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೇಸು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನೇ, ನೀನು ಮಾಡಲು ಬಂದ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಮುಗಿಸು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಕೂಡಲೇ ಆ ಜನರು ಮುಂದೆ ಬಂದು, ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಬಂಧಿಸಿದರು.
Then spake Jesus to him, Friend, for what purpose art thou here? Then approaching they laid hands on Jesus, and seized him.
51 ಆಗ, ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು ಕೈಚಾಚಿ ತನ್ನ ಖಡ್ಗವನ್ನು ಹಿರಿದು, ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕನ ಆಳನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದು ಅವನ ಕಿವಿಯನ್ನು ಕಡಿದುಹಾಕಿದನು.
And behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretching out his hand, drew his sword, and striking at a servant of the high-priest, cut off his ear.
52 ಆಗ ಯೇಸು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ಖಡ್ಗವನ್ನು ತಿರುಗಿ ಅದರ ಒರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕು. ಖಡ್ಗವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದ ನಾಶವಾಗುವರು.
Then saith Jesus unto him, Return thy sword into its sheath: for all who take the sword, shall perish by the sword.
53 ನಾನು ಈಗ ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಗೆ ಕೇಳಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಅವರು ಈಗಲೇ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ದಳಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾದ ದೂತರನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡಲಾರರೆಂದು ನೀನು ನೆನಸುತ್ತೀಯಾ?
Thinkest thou, that I cannot now entreat my Father, and he will give me more than twelve legions of angels?
54 ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ಇವುಗಳು ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಆಗಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಪವಿತ್ರ ವೇದದ ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳು ನೆರವೇರುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ?” ಎಂದರು.
But how then would the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
55 ಅದೇ ಗಳಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯೇಸು ಜನಸಮೂಹಕ್ಕೆ, “ಒಬ್ಬ ಕಳ್ಳನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವಂತೆ ಖಡ್ಗಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ದೊಣ್ಣೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬಂದಿರಾ? ನಾನು ದಿನಾಲು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ದೇವಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡು ಬೋಧಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ, ನೀವು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ.
In that hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a robber, with swords and staves to apprehend me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid not hold upon me.
56 ಆದರೆ ಪವಿತ್ರ ವೇದದ ಪ್ರವಾದನೆಗಳು ನೆರವೇರುವಂತೆ ಇದೆಲ್ಲಾ ಆಯಿತು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಆಗ ಶಿಷ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಓಡಿಹೋದರು.
But all this is come to pass, that the scriptures of the prophets should be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.
57 ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದಿದ್ದವರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕನಾದ ಕಾಯಫನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಯಮ ಬೋಧಕರೂ ಹಿರಿಯರೂ ಕೂಡಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದರು.
Then they who had apprehended Jesus, brought him to Caiaphas the high-priest, where the scribes and elders were assembled.
58 ಆದರೆ ಪೇತ್ರನು ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕನ ಅರಮನೆಗೆ ದೂರದಿಂದಲೇ ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿ, ಒಳಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಂತ್ಯವೇನಾಗುವುದೆಂದು ನೋಡಲು ಸೇವಕರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡನು.
But Peter followed him at a great distance unto the palace of the high-priest, and entering in, sat down with the servants, to see the issue.
59 ಆಗ ಮುಖ್ಯಯಾಜಕರೂ ಆಲೋಚನಾ ಸಭೆಯವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಯೇಸುವಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಸುಳ್ಳುಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗಾಗಿ ಹುಡುಕಿದರು.
Now the chief priests and elders and the whole sanhedrim, sought false witness against Jesus, that they might put him to death;
60 ಬಹುಮಂದಿ ಸುಳ್ಳುಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗಳು ಬಂದರೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾದ ಸಾಕ್ಷ್ಯವು ದೊರೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಸುಳ್ಳುಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗಳು ಬಂದು,
and found none: and though many false witnesses came, they found it not sufficient. But at the last two false witnesses stepping forth,
61 “ನಾನು ದೇವಾಲಯವನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿ ಮೂರು ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಟ್ಟಬಲ್ಲೆನೆಂದು ಈತನು ಹೇಳಿದನು,” ಎಂದರು.
said, This fellow said, I am able to pull down the temple of God, and to build it up in three days.
62 ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕನು ಎದ್ದು ಯೇಸುವಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಏನೂ ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ಇವರು ನಿನಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಹೇಳುವುದು ಏನು?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
And the high-priest rising up, said to him, Answerest thou nothing? what do these men witness against thee?
63 ಆದರೆ ಯೇಸು ಸುಮ್ಮನಿದ್ದರು. ಆಗ ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕನು ಉತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಯೇಸುವಿಗೆ, “ಜೀವಸ್ವರೂಪನಾದ ದೇವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಣೆಯಿಟ್ಟು ನಮಗೆ ಇದನ್ನು ಹೇಳು: ನೀನು ದೇವಪುತ್ರನಾದ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನೋ?” ಎಂದನು.
But Jesus was silent. And the high-priest addressing him, said, I adjure thee, by the living God, that thou tell us, if thou art the Messiah, the Son of God.
64 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೇಸು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನೇ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೀ; ಆದರೂ ಇನ್ನು ಮೇಲೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯಪುತ್ರನಾದ ನಾನು ಸರ್ವಶಕ್ತರ ಬಲಗಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತಿರುವುದನ್ನೂ ಆಕಾಶದ ಮೇಘಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಬರುವುದನ್ನೂ ನೀವು ಕಾಣುವಿರಿ ಎಂದು ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
Jesus saith to him, Thou hast spoken the fact. Moreover I tell you, hereafter ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
65 ಆಗ ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕನು ತನ್ನ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡು, “ಈತನು ದೇವದೂಷಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ನಮಗೆ ಇನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗಳು ಏತಕ್ಕೆ? ನೋಡಿ, ಈಗ ಈತನ ದೇವದೂಷಣೆಯನ್ನು ನೀವೇ ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೀರಲ್ಲಾ
Then the high-priest rent his garments, saying, he hath blasphemed: what farther need have we of witnesses? lo! now ye have heard his blasphemy:
66 ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೇಗೆ ತೋರುತ್ತದೆ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು ಉತ್ತರವಾಗಿ, “ಈತನು ಮರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಪಾತ್ರನು,” ಎಂದರು.
what think ye? They answered and said, He is deserving of death.
67 ಆಮೇಲೆ ಅವರು ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಮುಖದ ಮೇಲೆ ಉಗುಳಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಗುದ್ದಿದರು. ಬೇರೆ ಕೆಲವರು ಅವರ ಕೆನ್ನೆಗೆ ಹೊಡೆದು,
Then they spit in his face, and buffeted him about; and some slapt his face with their hands,
68 “ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನೇ, ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದವರು ಯಾರು? ನಮಗೆ ಪ್ರವಾದನೆ ಹೇಳು,” ಎಂದರು.
saying, Prophesy to us, you Messiah, who it is that struck thee!
69 ಆಗ ಪೇತ್ರನು ಹೊರಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತಿರಲು, ಒಬ್ಬ ದಾಸಿಯು ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, “ನೀನೂ ಗಲಿಲಾಯದ ಯೇಸುವಿನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇದ್ದವನು,” ಎಂದಳು.
Now Peter sat without in the hall: and there came to him a single maid-servant, saying, Thou also wert with Jesus of Galilee.
70 ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಎಲ್ಲರ ಮುಂದೆ, “ನೀನು ಏನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತೀಯೋ ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯದು,” ಎಂದು ನಿರಾಕರಿಸಿದನು.
But he denied it before them all, asserting, I know not what thou art saying.
71 ಅವನು ಮುಖ್ಯ ದ್ವಾರದೊಳಗೆ ಹೋದಾಗ, ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬ ಹುಡುಗಿಯು ಅವನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವರಿಗೆ, “ಇವನು ಸಹ ನಜರೇತಿನ ಯೇಸುವಿನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇದ್ದವನು,” ಎಂದಳು.
Then as he was going out at the gate, another maid-servant saw him, and saith to those who were there, This fellow also was with Jesus of Nazareth.
72 ಆಗ ಅವನು ಆಣೆ ಮಾಡಿ, “ನಾನು ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಅರಿಯೆನು,” ಎಂದು ತಿರುಗಿ ನಿರಾಕರಿಸಿದನು.
Then again he denied with an oath, I know not the man.
73 ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಸಮಯವಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದವರು ಪೇತ್ರನಿಗೆ, “ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿಯೂ ನೀನು ಸಹ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು. ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಭಾಷೆಯು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
But after a little while they who stood by, came up and said to Peter, Assuredly thou also art one of them: for even thy speech maketh thee manifest.
74 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು, “ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ನಾನು ಅರಿಯೆನು,” ಎಂದು ಶಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಆಣೆಯಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದನು. ಕೂಡಲೇ ಹುಂಜ ಕೂಗಿತು.
Then began he to utter the bitterest curses, and to swear, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.
75 ಆಗ ಪೇತ್ರನು, “ಹುಂಜ ಕೂಗುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮುಂಚಿತವಾಗಿ ನೀನು ಮೂರು ಸಾರಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನಿರಾಕರಿಸುವೆ,” ಎಂದು ಯೇಸು ತನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ವ್ಯಥೆಪಟ್ಟು ಅತ್ತನು.
And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, who had said unto him, Before the cock shall crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And going out, he wept bitterly.
