ನ್ಯಾಯಸ್ಥಾಪಕರು 3

1 ಕಾನಾನ್ ದೇಶದ ಸಕಲ ಯುದ್ಧಗಳನ್ನು ಅರಿಯದೆ ಇದ್ದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೂ,

These are the nations that the LORD left to test all the Israelites who had not known any of the wars in Canaan,

2 ಮೊದಲು ಯುದ್ಧವನ್ನು ಅರಿಯದೆ ಇದ್ದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಸಂತತಿಗಳವರು ಅದನ್ನು ಕೂಡ ಕಲಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಉಳಿಸಿದ ಜನಾಂಗಗಳು ಯಾವುವೆಂದರೆ:

if only to teach warfare to the subsequent generations of Israel, especially to those who had not known it formerly:

3 ಐದು ಮಂದಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳೂ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರೂ ಸೀದೋನ್ಯರೂ ಬಾಳ್ ಹೆರ್ಮೋನ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಿಂದ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿ ಹಮಾತಿನ ಪ್ರದೇಶದವರೆಗೂ ಲೆಬನೋನಿನ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿರುವ ಹಿವ್ವಿಯರು ಇವರೇ.

the five rulers of the Philistines, all the Canaanites, the Sidonians, and the Hivites who lived in the mountains of Lebanon from Mount Baal-hermon to Lebo-hamath.

4 ತಾವು ಮೋಶೆಯ ಮುಖಾಂತರವಾಗಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಪಿತೃಗಳಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಕೇಳುವರೋ ಇಲ್ಲವೋ ಎಂದು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು.

These nations were left to test the Israelites, to find out whether they would keep the commandments of the LORD, which He had given their fathers through Moses.

5 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರ, ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರ, ಅಮೋರಿಯರ, ಪೆರಿಜೀಯರ, ಹಿವ್ವಿಯರ, ಯೆಬೂಸಿಯರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದು,

Thus the Israelites continued to live among the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites.

6 ಅವರ ಪುತ್ರಿಯರನ್ನು ತಾವು ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರನ್ನಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ತಮ್ಮ ಪುತ್ರಿಯರನ್ನು ಅವರ ಪುತ್ರರಿಗೆ ಮದುವೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಟ್ಟು, ಅವರ ದೇವರುಗಳನ್ನು ಸೇವಿಸಿದರು.

And they took the daughters of these people in marriage, gave their own daughters to their sons, and served their gods.

7 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ, ತಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಮರೆತು, ಬಾಳನನ್ನೂ ಅಶೇರನನ್ನೂ ಸೇವಿಸಿದರು.

So the Israelites did evil in the sight of the LORD; they forgot the LORD their God and served the Baals and the Asherahs.

8 ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡು, ಅವರನ್ನು ಅರಾಮ್ ನಹರೈಮ್‌ದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಕೂಷನ್ ರಿಷಾತಯಿಮನ ಕೈಗೆ ಮಾರಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಕೂಷನ್‌ರಿಷಾತಯಿಮ್ ಎಂಬವನಿಗೆ ಎಂಟು ವರ್ಷ ಗುಲಾಮರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

Then the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He sold them into the hand of Cushan-rishathaim king of Aram-naharaim, and the Israelites served him eight years.

9 ತರುವಾಯ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಕೂಗುವಾಗ, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ರಕ್ಷಕನನ್ನು ಅಂದರೆ, ಕಾಲೇಬನ ತಮ್ಮನಾದ ಕೆನಾಜನ ಮಗ ಒತ್ನಿಯೇಲನನ್ನು ಎಬ್ಬಿಸಿದರು.

But when the Israelites cried out to the LORD, He raised up Othniel son of Caleb’s younger brother Kenaz as a deliverer to save them.

10 ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಆತ್ಮವು ಬಂದದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ನ್ಯಾಯತೀರಿಸಿದನು. ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟಾಗ, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಅವನ ಕೈಗೆ ಎರಡು ನದಿಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅರಾಮ್ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಕೂಷನ್ ರಿಷಾತಯಿಮನನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ಅವನು ಕೂಷನ್ ರಿಷಾತಯಿಮನ ಮೇಲೆ ಜಯಹೊಂದಿದನು.

The Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he became Israel’s judge and went out to war. And the LORD delivered Cushan-rishathaim king of Aram into the hand of Othniel, who prevailed against him.

11 ದೇಶವು ನಾಲ್ವತ್ತು ವರ್ಷದವರೆಗೆ ವಿಶ್ರಾಂತಿಯಿಂದಿತ್ತು. ತರುವಾಯ ಕೆನಾಜನ ಮಗ ಒತ್ನಿಯೇಲನು ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿದನು.

So the land had rest for forty years, until Othniel son of Kenaz died.

12 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮುಂದೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನೇ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಅವರು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನೇ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಎಗ್ಲೋನನನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಬಲಪಡಿಸಿದರು.

Once again the Israelites did evil in the sight of the LORD. So He gave Eglon king of Moab power over Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the LORD.

13 ಅವನು ಅಮ್ಮೋನನ ಮತ್ತು ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯರನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದು, ಖರ್ಜೂರ ಗಿಡಗಳಿರುವ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡನು.

After enlisting the Ammonites and Amalekites to join forces with him, Eglon attacked and defeated Israel, taking possession of the City of Palms.

14 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಎಗ್ಲೋನನನ್ನು ಹದಿನೆಂಟು ವರ್ಷ ಸೇವಿಸಿದರು.

The Israelites served Eglon king of Moab eighteen years.

15 ಆದರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಕೂಗಿದಾಗ, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನನಾದ ಗೇರನ ಮಗ ಏಹೂದನನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಬ್ಬಿಸಿದರು. ಅವನು ಎಡಗೈಯವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಮೋವಾಬಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ಎಗ್ಲೋನನಿಗೆ ಕಪ್ಪವನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು.

And again they cried out to the LORD, and He raised up Ehud son of Gera, a left-handed Benjamite, as their deliverer. So they sent him with tribute to Eglon king of Moab.

16 ಏಹೂದನು ಇಬ್ಬಾಯಿಯುಳ್ಳ ಒಂದು ಮೊಳ ಉದ್ದವಾದ ಒಂದು ಕಠಾರಿಯನ್ನು ತನಗೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು, ಅದನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ವಸ್ತ್ರದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಬಲಗಡೆ ತೊಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡು,

Now Ehud had made for himself a double-edged sword a cubit long. He strapped it to his right thigh under his cloak

17 ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮೋವಾಬಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ಎಗ್ಲೋನನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಂದನು. ಎಗ್ಲೋನನು ಬಹು ದಪ್ಪ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.

and brought the tribute to Eglon king of Moab, who was an obese man.

18 ಏಹೂದನು ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ತೀರಿಸಿದಾಗ, ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದ ಜನರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟು,

After Ehud had finished presenting the tribute, he ushered out those who had carried it.

19 ತಾನು ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ವಿಗ್ರಹಸ್ಥಳದಿಂದ ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ತಿರುಗಿ, ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, “ಅರಸನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೇಳಬೇಕಾದ ರಹಸ್ಯವಾದ ಒಂದು ಮಾತು ಇದೆ,” ಎಂದನು. ಅವನು, “ನಿಶ್ಶಬ್ದ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಾಗ, ಅವನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದವರೆಲ್ಲರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋದರು.

But upon reaching the idols near Gilgal, he himself turned back and said, “I have a secret message for you, O king.” “Silence,” said the king, and all his attendants left him.

20 ಅವನು ತನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಮಾತ್ರ ಇದ್ದ ಬೇಸಿಗೆಯ ಕೊಠಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತಾಗ, ಏಹೂದನು ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿ, “ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೇಳಬೇಕಾದ ದೇವರ ಸಂದೇಶ ನನಗಿದೆ,” ಎಂದನು. ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದಿಂದ ಎದ್ದನು.

Then Ehud approached him while he was sitting alone in the coolness of his upper room. “I have a word from God for you,” Ehud said, and the king rose from his seat.

21 ಏಹೂದನು ತನ್ನ ಎಡಗೈಯನ್ನು ಚಾಚಿ, ತನ್ನ ಬಲಗಡೆ ತೊಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕಠಾರಿಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ಅವನ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಿವಿದನು.

And Ehud reached with his left hand, pulled the sword from his right thigh, and plunged it into Eglon’s belly.

22 ಅದು ಅಲಗಿನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹಿಡಿ ಸಮೇತ ಅವನ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಕ್ಕು, ಕಿತ್ತು ತೆಗೆಯಕೂಡದ ಹಾಗೆ ಕೊಬ್ಬು ಅಲಗನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡಿತು. ಅದರಿಂದ ಮಲವು ಹೊರಟಿತು.

Even the handle sank in after the blade, and Eglon’s fat closed in over it, so that Ehud did not withdraw the sword from his belly. And Eglon’s bowels emptied.

23 ಆಗ ಏಹೂದನು ಕೊಠಡಿಯ ಬಾಗಿಲನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಹಿಂಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಚ್ಚಿ, ಬೀಗವನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿ, ದ್ವಾರಾಂಗಳದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದನು.

Then Ehud went out through the porch, closing and locking the doors of the upper room behind him.

24 ಅವನು ಹೋದ ತರುವಾಯ, ಕೊಠಡಿಯ ಸೇವಕರು ಬಾಗಿಲು ಮುಚ್ಚಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು, “ಅರಸನು ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ತಂಪಾದ ಕೋಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಸರ್ಜನೆಗಾಗಿ ಹೋಗಿರಬೇಕು,” ಎಂದುಕೊಂಡರು.

After Ehud was gone, Eglon’s servants came in and found the doors of the upper room locked. “He must be relieving himself in the cool room,” they said.

25 ಅವರು ತಮಗೆ ಬೇಸರವಾಗುವ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೂ ಕಾದಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ, ಅವನು ಕೊಠಡಿ ಬಾಗಿಲನ್ನು ತೆರೆಯದೆ ಇದ್ದುದರಿಂದ, ಅವರು ಬೀಗದ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಾಗಿಲನ್ನು ತೆರೆದರು. ಅವರ ಪ್ರಭುವು ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿದ್ದನು.

So they waited until they became worried and saw that he had still not opened the doors of the upper room. Then they took the key and opened the doors—and there was their lord lying dead on the floor.

26 ಅವರು ಆಲಸ್ಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ, ಏಹೂದನು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ, ಸೇಯೀರಾತನ್ನು ಸೇರಿ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು.

Ehud, however, had escaped while the servants waited. He passed by the idols and escaped to Seirah.

27 ಅವನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದಾಗ, ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮನ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ತುತೂರಿಯನ್ನು ಊದಿದನು. ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಿಂದ ಇಳಿದರು. ಅವನು ಇವರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಡೆದರು.

On arriving in Seirah, he blew the ram’s horn throughout the hill country of Ephraim. The Israelites came down with him from the hills, and he became their leader.

28 ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಶತ್ರುಗಳಾದ ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟರು,” ಎಂದನು. ಅವರು ಅವನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬಂದು, ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾದ ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ನದಿ ರೇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು, ಒಬ್ಬರನ್ನಾದರೂ ದಾಟಗೊಡದೆ,

“Follow me,” he told them, “for the LORD has delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand.” So they followed him down and seized the fords of the Jordan leading to Moab, and did not allow anyone to cross over.

29 ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ಹತಮಾಡಿದರು. ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರು ಪುಷ್ಟರೂ, ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಿಗಳೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನಾದರೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.

At that time they struck down about ten thousand Moabites, all robust and valiant men. Not one of them escaped.

30 ಹೀಗೆ ಆ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೋವಾಬ್ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಆಳಿಕೆಗೆ ಅಧೀನವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ದೇಶವು ಎಂಬತ್ತು ವರ್ಷ ವಿಶ್ರಾಂತಿಗೊಂಡಿತು.

So Moab was subdued under the hand of Israel that day, and the land had rest for eighty years.

31 ಏಹೂದನ ತರುವಾಯ ಅನಾತನ ಮಗ ಶಮ್ಗರನು ಎದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಆರುನೂರು ಜನರನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿನ ಮುಳ್ಳುಗೋಲಿನಿಂದ ಹತಮಾಡಿದನು. ಅವನು ಸಹ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದನು.

After Ehud came Shamgar son of Anath. And he too saved Israel, striking down six hundred Philistines with an oxgoad.
