ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು 6
1 ಆಗ ಯೆರಿಕೋವಿನ ಜನರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿ, ಒಬ್ಬರೂ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಾರದ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ಒಳಗೆ ಹೋಗದ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ಯೆರಿಕೋ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಬಾಗಿಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಭದ್ರವಾಗಿ ಮುಚ್ಚಿದರು.
Now Jericho was closely shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.
2 ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನಿಗೆ, “ನೋಡು, ಯೆರಿಕೋವನ್ನೂ ಅದರ ಅರಸನನ್ನೂ ಯುದ್ಧ ವೀರರನ್ನೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
And the LORD said to Joshua, See, I have given into thy hand Jericho, and its king, [and] the mighty men of valor.
3 ಯುದ್ಧ ಸನ್ನದ್ಧರಾದ ನೀವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಸಾರಿ ಸುತ್ತಬೇಕು. ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಆರು ದಿವಸ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು.
And ye shall compass the city, all [ye] men of war, [and] go round the city once: thus shalt thou do six days.
4 ಏಳುಮಂದಿ ಯಾಜಕರು ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಮಂಜೂಷದ ಮುಂದೆ ಟಗರುಗಳ ಏಳು ಕೊಂಬುಗಳ ತುತೂರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಬೇಕು. ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ಏಳನೆಯ ದಿವಸ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಏಳು ಸಾರಿ ಸುತ್ತಿ ಬರಬೇಕು. ಯಾಜಕರು ತುತೂರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಊದಬೇಕು.
And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.
5 ಅವರು ಟಗರು ಕೊಂಬುಗಳ ತುತೂರಿಗಳಿಂದ ದೀರ್ಘಧ್ವನಿಗೈಯುವಾಗ, ಆ ತುತೂರಿಯ ಧ್ವನಿಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಮಹಾ ರಭಸದಿಂದ ಆರ್ಭಟಿಸಬೇಕು. ಆಗ ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಗೋಡೆಯು ನೆಲಸಮವಾಗಿ ಬಿದ್ದುಹೋಗುವುದು. ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನು ತನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಒಳಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿಹೋಗಬಹುದು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long [blast] with the ram's horn, [and] when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout: and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend every man straight before him.
6 ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನೂನನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಯಾಜಕರನ್ನು ಕರೆದು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಮಂಜೂಷವನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ. ಏಳುಮಂದಿ ಯಾಜಕರು ಏಳು ಟಗರು ಕೊಂಬುಗಳ ತುತೂರಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮಂಜೂಷದ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗಲಿ,” ಎಂದನು.
And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said to them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD.
7 ಜನರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಹಾದು ಹೋಗಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತಿರಿ. ಯುದ್ಧಸನ್ನದ್ದರು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮಂಜೂಷದ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗಲಿ,” ಎಂದನು.
And he said to the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of the LORD.
8 ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಜನರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ತರುವಾಯ, ಏಳು ಟಗರು ಕೊಂಬುಗಳ ತುತೂರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡ ಏಳುಮಂದಿ ಯಾಜಕರು ತುತೂರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಊದುತ್ತಾ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಡೆದರು. ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಮಂಜೂಷವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿತು.
And it came to pass, when Joshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns passed on before the LORD, and blew with the trumpets: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them.
9 ಹೀಗೆ ಯುದ್ಧ ಸನ್ನದ್ಧರಾದ ಜನರು ತುತೂರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಊದುವ ಯಾಜಕರ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋದರು. ಯಾಜಕರು ತುತೂರಿಯನ್ನು ಊದುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಸೈನ್ಯವು ಮಂಜೂಷದ ಹಿಂದೆ ನಡೆದು ಬಂತು.
And the armed men went before the priests that blew with the trumpets, and the rear-guard came after the ark, [the priests] going on, and blowing with the trumpets.
10 ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಜನರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಈಗ ಆರ್ಭಟಿಸಬಾರದು. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಶಬ್ದವು ಕೇಳಿಸಲೂಬಾರದು. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬಾಯಿಂದ ಯಾವ ಮಾತು ಹೊರಡಲೂಬಾರದು, ನಾನು ಆರ್ಭಟಿಸಿರೆಂದು ಹೇಳುವ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಆರ್ಭಟಿಸಬೇಕು,” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall [any] word proceed from your mouth, until the day I bid you shout, then shall ye shout.
11 ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮಂಜೂಷವು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಸಾರಿ ಸುತ್ತಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವರು ಪಾಳೆಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ರಾತ್ರಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆದರು.
So the ark of the LORD compassed the city, going about [it] once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.
12 ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಮರುದಿನ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಎದ್ದನು. ಯಾಜಕರು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮಂಜೂಷವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡರು.
And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.
13 ಟಗರಿನ ಕೊಂಬುಗಳ ಏಳು ತುತೂರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಊದುತ್ತಾ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಮಂಜೂಷದ ಮುಂದೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಾ ಹೋದರು. ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾದ ಜನರು ಅವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋದರು. ಆದರೆ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಸೈನ್ಯದವರು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮಂಜೂಷದ ಹಿಂದೆ ನಡೆದರು. ಯಾಜಕರು ತುತೂರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಊದುತ್ತಾ ಹೊರಟರು.
And seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rear-guard came after the ark of the LORD, [the priests] going on, and blowing with the trumpets.
14 ಹೀಗೆ ಎರಡನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಸಾರಿ ಸುತ್ತಿಬಂದು ಪಾಳೆಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿದರು. ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಆರು ದಿನ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
And the second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp. So they did six days.
15 ಆದರೆ ಏಳನೆಯ ದಿನ ಸೂರ್ಯೋದಯವಾಗುವಾಗ, ಅವರು ಎದ್ದು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಅದೇ ರೀತಿಯಾಗಿ ಏಳು ಸಾರಿ ಸುತ್ತಿಬಂದರು. ಆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರವೇ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಏಳು ಸಾರಿ ಸುತ್ತಿಬಂದರು.
And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times.
16 ಏಳನೆಯ ಸಾರಿ ಯಾಜಕರು ತುತೂರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಊದುವಾಗ, ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಜನರಿಗೆ, “ಆರ್ಭಟಿಸಿರಿ! ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city.
17 ಆದರೂ ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಣವೂ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸಮಸ್ತವೂ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಪಿತವಾದವುಗಳು. ರಾಹಾಬಳೆಂಬ ವೇಶ್ಯೆಯೂ ಆಕೆಯ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಮಾತ್ರ ಉಳಿಯಲಿ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನಾವು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ಗೂಢಚಾರರನ್ನು ಆಕೆಯು ಬಚ್ಚಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಳು.
And the city shall be accursed, [even] it, and all that [are] in it, to the LORD: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that [are] with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
18 ಆದರೆ ಅರ್ಪಿತವಾದವುಗಳನ್ನು ನೀವು ಮುಟ್ಟಬೇಡಿರಿ. ಹಾಗೆ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ನಿಮಗೆ ನಾಶನವನ್ನು ತಂದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡಿರಿ. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಪಾಳೆಯವೇ ಶಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ಈಡು ಮಾಡಿ, ತೊಂದರೆ ಪಡಿಸದಂತೆ ಶಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ಈಡಾದವುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ ಬಹು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯಾಗಿರಿ.
And ye, in any wise keep [yourselves] from the accursed thing, lest ye make [yourselves] accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.
19 ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಬಂಗಾರ, ಕಂಚು, ಕಬ್ಬಿಣ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಪಿತವಾಗಿರಬೇಕು. ಅವು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಭಂಡಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿರಬೇಕು,” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, [are] consecrated to the LORD: they shall come into the treasury of the LORD.
20 ಕೂಡಲೆ ಯಾಜಕರು ತುತೂರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಊದಿದಾಗ ಜನರು ಆರ್ಭಟಿಸಿದರು. ತುತೂರಿಯ ಶಬ್ದವನ್ನು ಜನರು ಕೇಳಿ ಮಹಾಧ್ವನಿಯಿಂದ ಆರ್ಭಟಿಸಿದಾಗ ಗೋಡೆಯು ನೆಲಸಮವಾಗಿ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಬಿತ್ತು. ಹೀಗೆ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನು ಮುಂದೆ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಒಳಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿದರು. ಆಗ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸ್ವಾಧೀನವಾಯಿತು.
So the people shouted when [the priests] blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
21 ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಪುರುಷರನ್ನೂ ಹಿರಿಕಿರಿಯರನ್ನೂ ಕುರಿದನಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕತ್ತೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನಾಶಮಾಡಿದರು.
And they utterly destroyed all that [was] in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.
22 ಆ ನಾಡನ್ನು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು, “ನೀವು ಆ ವೇಶ್ಯೆಯ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಅವಳನ್ನೂ ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಇರುವ ಸಮಸ್ತವನ್ನೂ ನೀವು ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟ ಹಾಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬನ್ನಿರಿ,” ಎಂದನು.
But Joshua had said to the two men that spied out the country, Go into the harlot's house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye swore to her.
23 ಅದರಂತೆ ಆ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರು ಒಳಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ರಾಹಾಬಳನ್ನೂ ಅವಳ ತಂದೆಯನ್ನೂ ಅವಳ ತಾಯಿಯನ್ನೂ ಅವಳ ಸಹೋದರರನ್ನೂ ಅವಳಿಗಿದ್ದ ಸಮಸ್ತವನ್ನೂ ಅವಳ ಗೋತ್ರದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಕರನ್ನೂ ಹೊರಗೆ ಕರೆತಂದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಪಾಳೆಯದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಇರಿಸಿದರು.
And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel.
24 ಆದರೆ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನೂ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸಮಸ್ತವನ್ನೂ ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಟ್ಟುಬಿಟ್ಟರು. ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಬಂಗಾರವನ್ನೂ ಕಂಚು ಕಬ್ಬಿಣ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮನೆಯ ಭಂಡಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟರು.
And they burnt the city with fire, and all that [was] in it: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD.
25 ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ವೇಶ್ಯೆಯಾದ ರಾಹಾಬಳನ್ನೂ, ಅವಳ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಯವರನ್ನೂ ಅವಳಿಗಿದ್ದ ಸಮಸ್ತವನ್ನೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ಉಳಿಸಿದನು. ಅವಳು ಈ ದಿವಸದವರೆಗೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದಾಳೆ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಯೆರಿಕೋವನ್ನು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ನೋಡಲು, ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ಗೂಢಚಾರರನ್ನು ಅವಳು ಬಚ್ಚಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಳು.
And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel [even] to this day; because she hid the messengers which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
26 ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ, “ಯೆರಿಕೋವೆಂಬ ಈ ನಗರವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಕಟ್ಟುವವನು, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಪಗ್ರಸ್ತನಾಗುವನು. “ಅದರ ಅಸ್ತಿವಾರವನ್ನು ಹಾಕುವವನು, ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲು ಮಗನನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು. ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಬಾಗಿಲುಗಳನ್ನಿಡುವಾಗ ತನ್ನ ಕಿರಿ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು.”
And Joshua adjured [them] at that time, saying, Cursed [be] the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay its foundation in his first-born, and in his youngest [son] shall he set up the gates of it.
27 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದರು. ಅವನ ಕೀರ್ತಿ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಹರಡಿತು.
So the LORD was with Joshua; and his fame was [noised] throughout all the country.
