ಯೋಬನು 15
1 ಆಗ ತೇಮಾನ್ಯನಾದ ಎಲೀಫಜನು ಹೀಗೆಂದನು:
Then responded Eliphaz the Temanite, and said:
2 “ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯು ವ್ಯರ್ಥ ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ನುಡಿದು ಪೂರ್ವದಿಕ್ಕಿನ ಗಾಳಿಯಿಂದ ತನ್ನ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ತುಂಬಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಉಂಟೋ?
Should, a wise man, answer unreal knowledge? or fill, with the east wind, his inner man?
3 ನಿಷ್ಪ್ರಯೋಜಕವಾದ ನುಡಿಗಳಿಂದಲೂ, ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾರದ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯು ವಾದಿಸುವನೋ?
Disputing with discourse that doth no good, or with speech, wherein is no profit?
4 ನೀನಾದರೋ ದೇವರ ಭಯಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾಳುಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವೆ. ದೇವರ ಮೇಲಿನ ಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವೆ.
But, thou, wouldst take away reverence, and wouldst attain unto meditation before GOD.
5 ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಪಾಪವೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಬಾಯಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸುತ್ತದೆ; ನೀನು ಕುಯುಕ್ತಿಯುಳ್ಳವರ ನಾಲಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಆಯ್ದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿರುವೆ.
For thine own mouth would teach thine iniquity, and thou wouldst choose the tongue of the crafty.
6 ನಾನಲ್ಲ, ನಿನ್ನ ಬಾಯಿಯೇ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಖಂಡಿಸುತ್ತದೆ; ಹೌದು, ನಿನ್ನ ತುಟಿಗಳೇ ನಿನಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಕೊಡುತ್ತವೆ.
Thine own mouth shall condemn thee, and, not I, And, thine own lips, shall testify against thee.
7 “ನೀನು ಮೊದಲು ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಪುರುಷನೋ? ಬೆಟ್ಟಗಳಿಗೆ ಮುಂಚಿತವಾಗಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವನೋ?
The first of mankind, wast thou born? Or, before the hills, wast thou brought forth?
8 ನೀನು ದೇವರ ಆಲೋಚನಾ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸದಸ್ಯನೋ? ಜ್ಞಾನವು ನಿನಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಮೀಸಲೋ?
In the secret council of GOD, hast thou been wont to hearken? Or canst thou attain for thyself unto wisdom?
9 ನಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯದೆ ಇರುವುದನ್ನು ನೀನು ಏನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿರುವೆ? ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಯಾವ ಒಳನೋಟವನ್ನು ನೀನು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವೆ?
What knowest thou, that we know not? [What] understandest thou, and the same, is not with us?
10 ತಲೆ ನರೆತವರೂ, ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಮುದುಕರಾದವರೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಗಿಂತ ವೃದ್ಧರಾದವರೂ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ.
Both hoary and venerable, are among us, one mightier than thy father in days!
11 ದೇವರ ಸಂತೈಸುವಿಕೆಗಳೂ ಮೃದುವಾದ ಹಿತವಚನಗಳು ನಿನಗೆ ಸಾಕಾಗಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೋ?
Too small for thee, are the consolations of GOD? or a word spoken gently with thee?
12 ನಿನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸೆಳೆದಿರುವುದು ಏಕೆ? ಏಕೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣು ಕಿಡಿಕಾರುತ್ತಿದೆ?
How doth thine own heart carry thee away, and how thine eyes do roll!
13 ನೀನು ದೇವರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ನಿನ್ನ ಕೋಪವನ್ನು ಹೊರಹಾಕುತ್ತಿರುವೆ? ನಿನ್ನ ಬಾಯಿಂದ ಕೋಪದ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊರಡಿಸುತ್ತೀಯಲ್ಲಾ?
For thy spirit, replieth against GOD, and thou bringest forth—out of thy mouth—words!
14 “ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಎಷ್ಟರವನು? ಅವನು ಶುದ್ಧನಿರಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವೇ? ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವನು ನೀತಿವಂತನಾಗಿರಬಹುದೆ?
What is a mortal, that he should be pure? or that righteous should be one born of a woman?
15 ದೇವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧರನ್ನು ಆತುಕೊಂಡಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ಆಕಾಶಗಳೂ ದೇವರ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶುದ್ಧವಲ್ಲ.
Lo! in his holy ones, he putteth not confidence, and, the heavens, are not pure in his eyes:
16 ಹಾಗಿರುವಾಗ, ನೀರಿನಂತೆ ಅನ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯುವ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು, ದೇವರ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎಷ್ಟು ಅಲ್ಪನೂ ಅಶುದ್ಧನೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದಾನಲ್ಲವೇ?
How much less when one is detested and corrupt, a man who drinketh in—like water—perversity.
17 “ಕೇಳು, ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ವಿವರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ, ನಾನು ನೋಡಿದ್ದನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ,
I will tell thee—hear me, Since this I have seen, I must needs declare it.
18 ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಜರಿಂದ ಕಲಿತಿದ್ದನ್ನೇ ಮರೆಮಾಡದೆ ನಮಗೆ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದರು.
Which, wise men, tell, and deny not [that which is] from their fathers.
19 ಅವರಿಗೆ ದೇಶವು ಕೊಡಲಾಗಿತ್ತು; ಅವರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದು ಪರದೇಶೀಯರು ಹಾದುಹೋಗುವಂತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
To them alone, was the earth given, and no alien passed through their midst:
20 ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ: ದುಷ್ಟನು ತನ್ನ ಜೀವಮಾನವೆಲ್ಲಾ ವೇದನೆಪಡುತ್ತಾನೆ; ನಿರ್ದಯನು ತನ್ನ ವರ್ಷಗಳೆಲ್ಲ ತೊಂದರೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ.
All the days of the lawless man, he, doth writhe with pain, and, the number of years, is hidden from the tyrant;
21 ಭಯಂಕರವಾದ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳು ಅವನ ಕಿವಿಗೆ ಬೀಳುತ್ತವೆ; ಎಲ್ಲವು ಸುಖವಾಗಿರುವಾಗ ಸುಲಿಗೆ ಮಾಡುವವನು ದುಷ್ಟನ ಮೇಲೆ ದಾಳಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.
A noise of dreadful things, is in his ears, In prosperity, the destroyer cometh upon him;
22 ಕತ್ತಲೆಯೊಳಗಿಂದ ಪಾರಾಗುತ್ತೇನೆಂದು ದುಷ್ಟನು ನಂಬುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ಅವನ ಖಡ್ಗವು ಅವನಿಗಾಗಿ ಕಾದಿದೆ.
He hath no confidence to come back out of darkness, he, being destined to the power oft the sword;
23 ಅವನು ಆಹಾರ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂದು ರಣಹದ್ದಿನ ಹಾಗೆ ಅಲೆಯುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಕತ್ತಲೆಯ ದಿನ ತನ್ನ ಕೈ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
A wanderer, he, for bread, [saying] Where [is it]? He knoweth that, prepared by his own hand, is the day of darkness;
24 ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟೂ, ಸಂಕಟವೂ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹೆದರಿಸಿ, ಆಕ್ರಮಣ ಮಾಡಲು ಸಿದ್ಧನಾದ ರಾಜನಂತೆ ತೊಂದರೆಗಳು ಅವನನ್ನು ಆವರಿಸುತ್ತವೆ,
Distress and anguish shall startle him, It shall overpower him, like a king ready for the onset:
25 ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ದುಷ್ಟನು ದೇವರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಮುಷ್ಠಿ ತೋರಿಸಿದನಲ್ಲಾ, ಸರ್ವಶಕ್ತರ ಎದುರು ನಿಂತು ಶೂರನಂತೆ ಮೆರೆದನಲ್ಲಾ.
Because he had stretched out—against GOD—his hand, and, against the Almighty, had been wont to behave himself proudly;
26 ದೇವರ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಬಲವುಳ್ಳ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಗುರಾಣಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಓಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.
He used to run against him with uplifted neck, with the stout bosses of his bucklers;
27 “ದುಷ್ಟನು ತನ್ನ ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಬ್ಬೇರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ತನ್ನ ಸೊಂಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೊಜ್ಜನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
For he had covered his face with his fatness, and had gathered a superabundance on his loins;
28 ಹಾಳಾದ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಯಾರೂ ವಾಸಿಸದ, ಕುಸಿಯಲು ಸಿದ್ಧವಾದಂಥ ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ವಾಸಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
And had inhabited demolished cities, houses, wherein men would not dwell, that were destined to become heaps.
29 ದುಷ್ಟನು ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವಂತನಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ಆದರೂ ಅವನ ಆಸ್ತಿಯು ಸ್ಥಿರವಲ್ಲ; ಅವನ ಸೊತ್ತು ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ವಿಸ್ತಾರವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
He shall not be rich, nor shall his substance continue, neither shall their shadow stretch along on the earth;
30 ಕತ್ತಲೆಯೊಳಗಿಂದ ಅವನು ಪಾರಾಗುವದಿಲ್ಲ; ಕಿಚ್ಚು ಅವನ ಕೊಂಬೆಗಳನ್ನು ಒಣಗಿಸುವುದು; ದೇವರ ಬಾಯಿಯ ಶ್ವಾಸದಿಂದ ಅವನು ತೊಲಗಿ ಹೋಗುವನು.
He shall not depart out of darkness, his young branch, shall the flame dry up, and he shall depart, by the breath of his own mouth!
31 ದುಷ್ಟನು ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ನಂಬಿ ಮೋಸಹೋಗದಿರಲಿ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾದವುಗಳಿಂದ ಅವನಿಗಾಗುವ ಪ್ರತಿಫಲವು ಶೂನ್ಯವೇ.
Let no one trust in him that—by vanity—is deceived, for, vanity, shall be his recompense;
32 ದುಷ್ಟನು ತನ್ನ ಸಮಯಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮೊದಲು ಬತ್ತಿ ಹೋಗುವನು; ಅವನ ಕೊಂಬೆಯು ಹಸಿರಾಗಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
Before his day, shall it be accomplished, with, his palm-top, not covered with leaves;
33 ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷೆಯ ಬಳ್ಳಿಯಂತೆ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಮಾಗದ ಫಲವನ್ನು ಹಾಳುಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು; ದುಷ್ಟನು ಹೂವುಗಳನ್ನು ಉದುರಿಸುವ ಓಲಿವ್ ಎಣ್ಣೆಯ ಮರದ ಹಾಗೆ ಇರುವನು.
He shall wrong—like a vine—his sour grapes, and shall cast off—as an olive-tree—his blossom.
34 ದೇವರಿಲ್ಲದವರ ಸಹವಾಸ ಬಂಜರು, ಬೆಂಕಿಯು ಲಂಚಕೋರರ ಮನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸುಟ್ಟುಹಾಕುವುದು.
For, the family of the impious, is unfruitful, and, a fire, hath devoured the tents of bribery;
35 ಅವರು ಹಿಂಸೆಯನ್ನು ಗರ್ಭಧರಿಸಿ, ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ಹೆರುವರು; ಅವರ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಯು ವಂಚನೆಯಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿರುವುದು.”
Conceiving mischief, and bringing forth iniquity, yea, their inmost soul, prepareth deceit.
