ಯೆರೆಮೀಯನು 14
1 ಕ್ಷಾಮವನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಯೆರೆಮೀಯನಿಗೆ ಉಂಟಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ವಾಕ್ಯವು:
That which has been the word of YHWH to Jeremiah concerning the matters of the scarcities:
2 “ಯೆಹೂದವು ದುಃಖಪಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಅವಳ ನಗರಗಳು ಸೊರಗುತ್ತವೆ; ಅವರು ಭೂಮಿಗಾಗಿ ಗೋಳಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಕೂಗು ಏರಿ ಬಂತು.
“Judah has mourned, and her gates have languished, They have mourned to the earth, And the cry of Jerusalem has gone up.
3 ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠರು ತಮ್ಮ ಚಿಕ್ಕವರನ್ನು ನೀರಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇವರು ಬಾವಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ನೀರು ಸಿಕ್ಕಲ್ಲ. ಬರೀ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳುಳ್ಳವರಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವರು ನಾಚಿಕೆಪಟ್ಟು ದಿಗ್ಭ್ರಮೆಗೊಂಡವರಾಗಿ, ತಮ್ಮ ತಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
And their majestic ones have sent their little ones to the water, They have come to ditches, They have not found water, They have turned back—their vessels empty! They have been ashamed, And have blushed and covered their head.
4 ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಳೆ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಕಾರಣ ಭೂಮಿಯು ಬಿರುಕುಬಿಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಒಕ್ಕಲಿಗರು ನಿರಾಶರಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ತಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
Because the ground has been broken, For there has been no rain in the land, Farmers have been ashamed, They have covered their head.
5 ಹೌದು, ಜಿಂಕೆಯು ಸಹ ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಲ್ಲು ಇಲ್ಲದ್ದರಿಂದ, ತನ್ನ ಮರಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿ, ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬಿಡುತ್ತದೆ.
For even the doe in the field has brought forth—to forsake [it!] For there has been no grass.
6 ಕಾಡುಕತ್ತೆಗಳು ಉನ್ನತ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು, ನರಿಗಳ ಹಾಗೆ ಗಾಳಿಯನ್ನು ಹೀರಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತವೆ. ಹುಲ್ಲು ಇಲ್ಲದ ಕಾರಣ ಅವುಗಳ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಕ್ಷೀಣವಾಗುತ್ತವೆ.”
And wild donkeys have stood on high places, They have swallowed up wind like dragons, Their eyes have been consumed, for there is no herb.”
7 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ಅಕ್ರಮಗಳು ನಮಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟರೂ, ನೀನೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಸಾಧಿಸು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿಂಜಾರುವಿಕೆಗಳು ಅನೇಕವಾಗಿವೆ; ನಿಮಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಪಾಪಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
Surely our iniquities have testified against us, O YHWH, work for Your Name’s sake, For our backslidings have been many, We have sinned against You.
8 ಓ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯೇ, ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟಿನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವವರೇ, ನೀನು ಏಕೆ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನ್ಯನ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ, ರಾತ್ರಿ ಕಳೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಸ್ಥನ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ಇರಬೇಕು?
O Hope of Israel—its Savior in time of trouble, Why are You as a sojourner in the land? And as a traveler turned aside to lodge?
9 ಏಕೆ ಸ್ತಬ್ಧನಂತೆಯೂ, ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲಾರದ ಶೂರನ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ಇದ್ದೀ? ಆದರೂ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರೇ, ನೀವು ನಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತೀರಿ, ನಾವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದೇವೆ, ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕೈಬಿಡಬೇಡಿರಿ.
Why are You as one mute? As a mighty one not able to save? And You [are] in our midst, O YHWH, And Your Name is called over us, Do not leave us.
10 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಈ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ: “ಹೀಗೆ ತಿರುಗಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು ಇಷ್ಟಪಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ತಮ್ಮ ಕಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಂದೆಗೆಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಈಗಲೇ ಅವರ ಅಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವೆನು. ಅವರ ಪಾಪಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ದಂಡಿಸುವೆನು.”
Thus said YHWH concerning this people: “They have loved to wander well, They have not restrained their feet, And YHWH has not accepted them, Now He remembers their iniquity, And inspects their sin.”
11 ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನನಗೆ, “ಈ ಜನರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ.
And YHWH says to me: “You do not pray for this people for good.
12 ಅವರು ಉಪವಾಸ ಮಾಡಿದರೂ, ನಾನು ಅವರ ಮೊರೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರು ದಹನಬಲಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಧಾನ್ಯ ಸಮರ್ಪಣೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದರೂ ನಾನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದಲೂ ಕ್ಷಾಮದಿಂದಲೂ ವ್ಯಾಧಿಯಿಂದಲೂ ಅವರನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮೂಲ ಮಾಡಿಬಿಡುತ್ತೇನೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
When they fast, I do not listen to their cry, and when they cause burnt-offering and present to ascend, I do not accept them; for I am consuming them by sword, and by famine, and by pestilence.”
13 ಆಗ ನಾನು, “ಹಾ, ಸಾರ್ವಭೌಮ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರೇ, ಇಗೋ, ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳು ಅವರಿಗೆ: ‘ನೀವು ಖಡ್ಗವನ್ನು ನೋಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ನಿಮಗೆ ಕ್ಷಾಮವು ಬಾರದು. ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಈ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಿರಸಮಾಧಾನ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾರೆ,’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ,” ಎಂದೆನು.
And I say, “Aah! Lord YHWH, behold, the prophets are saying to them: You do not see a sword, indeed, famine is not [on] you, for I give true peace to you in this place.”
14 ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ: “ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳು ನನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಳ್ಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ನಾನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞೆಕೊಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತಾಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಸುಳ್ಳಿನ ದರ್ಶನವನ್ನೂ, ಶಕುನವನ್ನೂ, ಮಾಯ ಮಂತ್ರವನ್ನೂ, ತಮ್ಮ ಹೃದಯದ ಕಪಟವನ್ನೂ ನಿಮಗೆ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
And YHWH says to me: “The prophets are prophesying falsehood in My Name. I did not send them, nor command them, nor have I spoken to them. A false vision, and divination, and vanity—indeed, they are prophesying the deceit of their own heart to you.
15 ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ತಾನು ಕಳುಹಿಸದೆ, ತನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುವಂಥ ಮತ್ತು, ‘ಈ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಖಡ್ಗವೂ ಬರವೂ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ,’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವಂಥ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು, ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದಲೂ ಕ್ಷಾಮದಿಂದಲೂ ಆ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳು ತಾವೇ ನಿರ್ಮೂಲವಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ.
Therefore, thus said YHWH concerning the prophets who are prophesying in My Name and I have not sent them, and they are saying, Sword and famine is not in this land: By sword and by famine are these prophets consumed.
16 ಅವರು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುವ ಜನರು ಕ್ಷಾಮದ ಮತ್ತು ಖಡ್ಗದ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಬೀದಿಪಾಲಾಗುವರು. ಅವರನ್ನೂ, ಅವರ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರನ್ನೂ, ಅವರ ಪುತ್ರಪುತ್ರಿಯರನ್ನೂ ಹೂಳಿಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾರೂ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಹವಾದ ಆಪತ್ತನ್ನು ನಾನು ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಸುರಿಯುತ್ತೇನೆ.
And the people to whom they are prophesying are cast into out-places of Jerusalem, because of the famine and the sword, and they have none burying them—them, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters—and I have poured out their evil on them.
17 “ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನೀನು ಈ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಬೇಕು. “‘ನನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ರಾತ್ರಿ ಹಗಲು ಬಿಡದೆ ಕಣ್ಣೀರು ಸುರಿಸಲಿ. ನನ್ನ ಜನರ ಮಗಳಾದ ಕನ್ಯೆಯು ಕ್ರೂರವಾದ ಏಟಿನಿಂದಲೂ, ದೊಡ್ಡ ಪೆಟ್ಟಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಗಾಯಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾಳೆ.
And you have said this word to them: Tears come down my eyes night and day, And they do not cease, For [with] a great breach, The virgin daughter of my people has been broken, A very grievous stroke.
18 ನಾನು ಹೊಲಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದರೆ ಇಗೋ, ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದ ಸತ್ತವರು ಕಾಣಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದರೆ ಇಗೋ, ಕ್ಷಾಮದಿಂದ ರೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದವರು ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹೌದು, ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯೂ, ಯಾಜಕನೂ ತಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯದ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಚಾರ ಮಾಡುವರು.’”
If I have gone forth to the field, Then, behold, the pierced of the sword! And if I have entered the city, Then, behold, the diseased of famine! For both prophet and priest have gone up and down To a land that they did not know.”
19 ನೀನು ಯೆಹೂದವನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ತ್ಯಜಿಸಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೀಯೋ? ಚೀಯೋನಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಮನಃಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ಅಸಹ್ಯಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೀಯೋ? ನಮಗೆ ಗುಣವಾಗದಂತೆ ಏಕೆ ಪೆಟ್ಟು ಹೊಡೆದಿ? ಸುಖವನ್ನು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದೆವು, ಯಾವ ಮೇಲೂ ಆಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕ್ಷೇಮ ಕಾಲವನ್ನು ಎದುರು ನೋಡಿದೆವು, ಹಾ, ಅಂಜಿಕೆಯೇ.
Have You utterly rejected Judah? Has Your soul loathed Zion? Why have You struck us, And there is no healing to us? Looking for peace, and there is no good, And for a time of healing, and behold, terror.
20 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ದುಷ್ಟತನವನ್ನೂ, ನಮ್ಮ ಪಿತೃಗಳ ದುರಾಚಾರವನ್ನೂ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ, ನಿಮಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಪಾಪಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವಲ್ಲಾ.
We have known, O YHWH, our wickedness, The iniquity of our fathers, For we have sinned against You.
21 ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಾಮದ ಮೇಲೆ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಡಿ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಹಿಮೆಯ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನವನ್ನು ಅಸಡ್ಡೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಡಿ, ಅವಮಾನಪಡಿಸಬೇಡಿ. ನೀವು ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದುಕೋ, ಅದನ್ನು ಭಂಗಪಡಿಸದಿರಿ.
Do not despise, for Your Name’s sake, Do not dishonor the throne of Your glory, Remember, do not break Your covenant with us.
22 ಜನಾಂಗಗಳ ವ್ಯರ್ಥ ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳೊಳಗೆ ಮಳೆಯನ್ನು ಸುರಿಸಬಲ್ಲವುಗಳುಂಟೇ? ಆಕಾಶವು ತಾನಾಗಿ ಹದ ಮಳೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟೀತೇ? ಅಲ್ಲ, ನೀವೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು, ನೀವೇ ವೃಷ್ಟಿದಾತರು, ನಾವು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನೇ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸುವೆವು, ನೀವು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಡಿಸುವವರಾಗಿದ್ದೀರಷ್ಟೆ.
Are there any among the vanities of the nations causing rain? And do the heavens give showers? Are You not He, O our God YHWH? And we wait for you, for You have done all these!
