ಆದಿಕಾಂಡ 17

1 ಅಬ್ರಾಮನು ತೊಂಬತ್ತೊಂಬತ್ತು ವರ್ಷದವನಾದಾಗ, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಅಬ್ರಾಮನಿಗೆ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, “ನಾನೇ ಸರ್ವಶಕ್ತ ದೇವರು. ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಾ ದೋಷವಿಲ್ಲದವನಾಗಿರು.

And Abram was ninety-nine years old, and the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, I am thy God, be well-pleasing before me, and be blameless.

2 ನನಗೂ ನಿನಗೂ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವೆನು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಅತ್ಯಧಿಕವಾಗಿ ವೃದ್ಧಿಪಡಿಸುವೆನು,” ಎಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದರು.

And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and I will multiply thee exceedingly.

3 ಆಗ ಅಬ್ರಾಮನು ಸಾಷ್ಟಾಂಗ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರಮಾಡಿದನು. ದೇವರು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ:

And Abram fell upon his face, and God spoke to him, saying,

4 “ನಾನಾದರೋ ಈ ನನ್ನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ: ನೀನು ಅನೇಕ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಗಳಿಗೆ ತಂದೆಯಾಗಿರುವೆ.

And I, behold! my covenant [is] with thee, and thou shalt be a father of a multitude of nations.

5 ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ, ‘ಅಬ್ರಾಮ್’ ಎಂದು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೆಸರಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಸರು, ‘ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮ’ ಎಂದು ಇರುವುದು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಅನೇಕ ಜನಾಂಗಗಳಿಗೆ ತಂದೆಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

And thy name shall no more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraam, for I have made thee a father of many nations.

6 ನಿನ್ನಿಂದ ಅನೇಕ ಜನಾಂಗಗಳೂ ಅರಸರೂ ಹುಟ್ಟುವರು.

And I will increase thee very exceedingly, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

7 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ನಿನಗೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತತಿಗೂ ದೇವರಾಗಿರುವೆನು. ಈ ನನ್ನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ನಿನಗೋಸ್ಕರವೂ ನಿನ್ನ ತರುವಾಯ ಬರುವ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತತಿಗೋಸ್ಕರವೂ ತಲತಲಾಂತರದವರೆಗೂ ನಿತ್ಯವಾದ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯಾಗಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸುವೆನು.

And I will establish my covenant between thee and thy seed after thee, to their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be thy God, and [the God] of thy seed after thee.

8 ನೀನು ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿರುವ ಕಾನಾನ್ ದೇಶವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಿನಗೂ ನಿನ್ನ ತರುವಾಯ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತತಿಗೂ ಶಾಶ್ವತವಾದ ಸ್ವತ್ತನ್ನಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟು, ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ದೇವರಾಗಿರುವೆನು,” ಎಂದರು.

And I will give to thee and to thy seed after thee the land wherein thou sojournest, even all the land of Chanaan for an everlasting possession, and I will be to them a God.

9 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ದೇವರು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ತರುವಾಯ ಬರುವ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತತಿಯವರೂ ತಲತಲಾಂತರಕ್ಕೂ ನನ್ನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಂಡು ನಡೆಯಬೇಕು.

And God said to Abraam, Thou also shalt fully keep my covenant, thou and thy seed after thee for their generations.

10 ನೀನೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ತರುವಾಯ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತತಿಯವರೂ ಕೈಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆ ಯಾವುದೆಂದರೆ: ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗಂಡಸರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಸುನ್ನತಿಯಾಗಬೇಕು.

And this [is] the covenant which thou shalt fully keep between me and you, and between thy seed after thee for their generations; every male of you shall be circumcised.

11 ನೀವು ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಮಾಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು, ನಿಮಗೂ ನನಗೂ ಉಂಟಾದ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಗೆ ಗುರುತಾಗಿ ಇರುವುದು.

And ye shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between me and you.

12 ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂತತಿಯವರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಗಂಡು ಮಗುವಿಗೂ ಎಂಟು ದಿನಗಳಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಮಾಡಿಸಬೇಕು. ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವನಾಗಲಿ, ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತತಿಯಲ್ಲದೆ ಪರರ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾಗಲಿ, ಕ್ರಯಕ್ಕೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡವನಾಗಲಿ,

And the child of eight days [old] shall be circumcised by you, every male throughout your generations, and [the servant] born in the house and he that is bought with money, of every son of a stranger, who is not of thy seed.

13 ಹೀಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವನಿಗೂ ಕ್ರಯಕ್ಕೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡವನಿಗೂ ಸುನ್ನತಿಯಾಗಬೇಕು. ಈ ನನ್ನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಶರೀರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿತ್ಯವಾದ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯಾಗಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುವುದು.

He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with money shall be surely circumcised, and my covenant shall be on your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

14 ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಮಾಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳದವನು ನನ್ನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮೀರಿದ ಕಾರಣ, ಅವನನ್ನು ಜನರೊಳಗಿಂದ ಬಹಿಷ್ಕರಿಸಬೇಕು,” ಎಂದರು.

And the uncircumcised male, who shall not be circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin on the eighth day, that soul shall be utterly destroyed from its family, for he has broken my covenant.

15 ದೇವರು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಸಾರಯಳ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಾದರೋ, ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸಾರಯಳೆಂದು ಕರೆಯಬೇಡ, ಅವಳ ಹೆಸರು, ‘ಸಾರಾ.’

And God said to Abraam, Sara thy wife—her name shall not be called Sara, Sarrha shall be her name.

16 ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ನಾನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆಕೆಯಿಂದ ನಿನಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಸಹ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆಕೆಯು ಜನಾಂಗಗಳ ತಾಯಿಯಾಗುವಂತೆ ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆಕೆಯಿಂದ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಗಳೂ ಅರಸರೂ ಹುಟ್ಟುವರು,” ಎಂದರು.

And I will bless her, and give thee a son of her, and I will bless him, and he shall become nations, and kings of nations shall be of him.

17 ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಅಡ್ಡಬಿದ್ದು ನಕ್ಕು, “ನೂರು ವರ್ಷದವನಿಗೆ ಮಗುವು ಹುಟ್ಟುವುದುಂಟೇ? ತೊಂಬತ್ತು ವರ್ಷದವಳಾದ ಸಾರಳು ಹೆರುವುದುಂಟೋ?” ಎಂದು ತನ್ನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡನು.

And Abraam fell upon his face, and laughed; and spoke in his heart, saying, Shall there be a child to one who is a hundred years old, and shall Sarrha who is ninety years old, bear?

18 ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ದೇವರಿಗೆ, “ಇಷ್ಮಾಯೇಲನು ನಿನ್ನ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದದಲ್ಲಿ ಬದುಕಲಿ,” ಎಂದನು.

And Abraam said to God, Let this Ismael live before thee.

19 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ದೇವರು, “ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಸಾರಳು ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆರುವಳು. ಅವನಿಗೆ, ‘ಇಸಾಕ್’ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಡಬೇಕು. ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡವೂ ಅವನ ತರುವಾಯ ಹುಟ್ಟುವ ಅವನ ಸಂತತಿಯವರ ಸಂಗಡವೂ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಶಾಶ್ವತವಾದ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸುವೆನು.

And God said to Abraam, Yea, behold, Sarrha thy wife shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name Isaac; and I will establish my covenant with him, for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to him and to his seed after him.

20 ಇಷ್ಮಾಯೇಲನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಬೇಡಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನಾನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಸಹ ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸುವೆನು. ಅವನನ್ನು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಮಾಡಿ, ಅತ್ಯಧಿಕವಾಗಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವೆನು. ಅವನಿಂದ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಪ್ರಭುಗಳು ಹುಟ್ಟುವರು. ನಾನು ಅವನಿಂದ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಜನಾಂಗವಾಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುವೆನು.

And concerning Ismael, behold, I have heard thee, and, behold, I have blessed him, and will increase him and multiply him exceedingly; twelve nations shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.

21 ಆದರೆ ಬರುವ ವರ್ಷ ಈ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾರಳು ನಿನ್ನಿಂದ ಹೆರುವ ಇಸಾಕನ ಸಂಗಡ ನನ್ನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸವೆನು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

But I will establish my covenant with Isaac, whom Sarrha shall bear to thee at this time, in the next year.

22 ಆಗ ದೇವರು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ಮುಗಿಸಿ, ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋದರು.

And he left off speaking with him, and God went up from Abraam.

23 ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗ ಇಷ್ಮಾಯೇಲನಿಗೂ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ತಾನು ಕ್ರಯಕ್ಕೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಹೀಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಗಂಡಸರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ದೇವರು ತನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಹಾಗೆ, ಆ ದಿನವೇ ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಮಾಡಿಸಿದನು.

And Abraam took Ismael his son, and all his home-born [servants], and all those bought with money, and every male of the men in the house of Abraam, and he circumcised their foreskins in the time of that day, according as God spoke to him.

24 ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ ಸುನ್ನತಿಯಾದಾಗ ಅವನು ತೊಂಬತ್ತೊಂಬತ್ತು ವರ್ಷದವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.

And Abraam was ninety-nine years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

25 ಅವನ ಮಗ ಇಷ್ಮಾಯೇಲನಿಗೆ ಸುನ್ನತಿಯಾದಾಗ, ಅವನು ಹದಿಮೂರು ವರ್ಷದವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.

And Ismael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

26 ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನೂ ಅವನ ಮಗ ಇಷ್ಮಾಯೇಲನೂ ಅದೇ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಮಾಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು.

And at the period of that day, Abraam was circumcised, and Ismael his son,

27 ಅವನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಗಂಡಸರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವರಿಗೂ ಪರರಿಂದ ಕ್ರಯಕ್ಕೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡವರಿಗೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡವೇ ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಆಯಿತು.

and all the men of his house, both those born in the house, and those bought with money of foreign nations.
