ಪ್ರಸಂಗಿ 8
1 ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯ ಹಾಗೆ ಇರುವವರು ಯಾರು? ಈ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳ ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಬಲ್ಲವರು ಯಾರು? ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಜ್ಞಾನವು ಅವನ ಮುಖವನ್ನು ಬೆಳಗಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಜ್ಞಾನವು ಕಠಿಣ ಮುಖಭಾವವನ್ನು ಸಹ ಬದಲಾಯಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
Who [is] as the wise [man]? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? a man’s wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed.
2 ನೀವು ದೇವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅರಸನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ.
I [counsel thee] to keep the king’s commandment, and [that] in regard of the oath of God.
3 ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಹೋಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಆತುರ ಪಡಬೇಡಿರಿ. ಅರಸನು ತನಗೆ ಇಷ್ಟಬಂದದ್ದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ. ನೀವು ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಬೇಡಿರಿ.
Be not hasty to go out of his sight: stand not in an evil thing; for he doeth whatsoever pleaseth him.
4 ಅರಸನ ಮಾತುಗಳೇ ಸರ್ವೋನ್ನತವಾದುದರಿಂದ, “ನೀನು ಮಾಡುವುದೇನು?” ಎಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸುವವರಾರು?
Where the word of a king [is, there is] power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?
5 ಅರಸನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಪಾಲಿಸುವವನಿಗೆ ಕೇಡು ಸಂಭವಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯ ಹೃದಯವು ಸರಿಯಾದ ಕಾಲ ಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ.
Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man’s heart discerneth both time and judgment.
6 ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಕಷ್ಟಸಂಕಟವು ಭಾರವಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೂ ಸರಿಯಾದ ಕಾಲ ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ರಮ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ.
Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man [is] great upon him.
7 ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಮುಂದೆ ಆಗುವುದೇನೆಂದು ಯಾರಿಗೂ ತಿಳಿಯದು. ಮುಂದೆ ಏನಾಗುವುದೆಂದು ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುವವರು ಯಾರು ಇಲ್ಲ.
For he knoweth not that which shall be: for who can tell him when it shall be?
8 ನಮ್ಮ ಆತ್ಮವನ್ನು ತಡೆಯುವ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಸಾಯುವ ಸಮಯವನ್ನು ತಡೆಯುವ ಶಕ್ತಿಯು ಸಹ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಯುದ್ಧ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಗೆ ವಿರಾಮ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೋ, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ದುಷ್ಟನಿಗೆ ದುಷ್ಟತ್ವದಿಂದ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಯೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.
[There is] no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither [hath he] power in the day of death: and [there is] no discharge in [that] war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.
9 ನಾನು ಇದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನೋಡಿ, ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೂ ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಯೋಗಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬನ ಮೇಲೆ ತನ್ನ ಹಾನಿಗಾಗಿ ಅಧಿಕಾರ ನಡೆಸುವ ಕಾಲವೂ ಇದೆ.
All this have I seen, and applied my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: [there is] a time wherein one man ruleth over another to his own hurt.
10 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ದುರ್ಜನರು ಸತ್ತು ಸಮಾಧಿಯಾಗುವುದನ್ನೂ ನಾನು ನೋಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಆದರೆ ಜನರು ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಬಂದ ಆ ದುಷ್ಟರನ್ನು ಅವರಿದ್ದ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಗಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇದೂ ಸಹ ನಿರರ್ಥಕವಾದದ್ದು.
And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this [is] also vanity.
11 ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ದುಷ್ಟ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ದಂಡನೆಯು ಕೂಡಲೇ ಆಗದಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಹೃದಯವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದು ಮಾಡುವ ಯುಕ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ತುಂಬಿರುವುದು.
Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
12 ಪಾಪಿಯು ನೂರು ಸಾರಿ ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ, ಬಹುಕಾಲ ಬದುಕಿದರೂ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಹೆದರಿ ದೈವಭಕ್ತಿಯುಳ್ಳವರಿಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗುವುದೆಂದು ನಾನು ಬಲ್ಲೆನು.
Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his [days] be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him:
13 ದುಷ್ಟರು ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ನೆರಳಿನ ಹಾಗಿರುವ ದುಷ್ಟರ ದಿನಗಳು ಹೆಚ್ಚುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong [his] days, [which are] as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.
14 ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ನಡೆಯುವ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ವ್ಯರ್ಥ ಕಾರ್ಯವಿದು: ದುಷ್ಟರಿಗೆ ಆಗಬೇಕಾದ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ನೀತಿವಂತರು ಅನುಭವಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ನೀತಿವಂತರಿಗೆ ಆಗಬೇಕಾದ ಪ್ರತಿಫಲವನ್ನು ದುಷ್ಟರು ಅನುಭವಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇದು ಸಹ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವೆಂದು ನಾನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ.
There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just [men], unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked [men], to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also [is] vanity.
15 ಆದುದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಸಂತೋಷವನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿದೆನು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಕುಡಿಯುವುದೂ ತಿನ್ನುವುದೂ ಸಂತೋಷಪಡುವುದೇ ಹೊರತು ಬೇರೇನೂ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಿಲ್ಲ. ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಕೆಳಗೆ ದೇವರು ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಕೊಡುವ ಜೀವನದ ದಿವಸಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನು ಪಡುವ ಕಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಸುಖಾನುಭವವು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿರುತ್ತದೆ.
Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun.
16 ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಪರಿಶ್ರಮವನ್ನು ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಯೋಗಿಸಿದೆನು. ಜನರು ರಾತ್ರಿ ಹಗಲು ತಮ್ಮ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳಿಗೆ ನಿದ್ರೆ ಹಚ್ಚಗೊಡದವರೂ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ.
When I applied mine heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (for also [there is that] neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes: )
17 ತರುವಾಯ ದೇವರ ಮಾಡುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕೆಲಸಗಳನ್ನು ನಾನು ನೋಡಿದೆನು. ಅದೇನೆಂದರೆ, ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಮಾಡುವ ದೇವರ ಕೆಲಸಗಳನ್ನು ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಗ್ರಹಿಸಲಾರನು. ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಅದನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಷ್ಟು ಕಷ್ಟಪಟ್ಟರೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾರನು. ಹೌದು, ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯು ಸಹ ದೇವರು ಮಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಯೋಚಿಸಿದರೂ ಅವನು ಅದನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾರನು.
Then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labour to seek [it] out, yet he shall not find [it; ] yea further; though a wise [man] think to know [it], yet shall he not be able to find [it].
