ಧರ್ಮೋಪದೇಶಕಾಂಡ 7
1 ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನೀವು ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬರಮಾಡಿದಾಗ, ಅವರು ನಿಮಗಿಂತ ದೊಡ್ಡವರೂ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠರೂ ಆದ ಏಳು ಜನಾಂಗಗಳನ್ನು ಎಂದರೆ, ಗಿರ್ಗಾಷಿಯರನ್ನೂ ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರನ್ನೂ ಅಮೋರಿಯರನ್ನೂ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ಪೆರಿಜೀಯರನ್ನೂ ಹಿವ್ವಿಯರನ್ನೂ ಯೆಬೂಸಿಯರನ್ನೂ ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಬಹಳ ಜನಾಂಗಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆಯೇ ಹೊರಡಿಸುವರು.
When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perrizites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;
2 ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಅವರನ್ನು ದಂಡಿಸಿ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿಬಿಡುವರು. ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು. ಅವರಿಗೆ ದಯೆ ತೋರಿಸಬಾರದು.
And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee, thou shalt smite them [and] utterly destroy them, thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor show mercy to them:
3 ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮದುವೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪುತ್ರಿಯರನ್ನು ಅವರ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಕೊಡಬಾರದು. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪುತ್ರರಿಗೆ ಅವರ ಪುತ್ರಿಯರನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು.
Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give to his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take to thy son.
4 ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪುತ್ರರನ್ನು ಬೇರೆ ದೇವರುಗಳನ್ನು ಸೇವಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನನ್ನಿಂದ ತೊಲಗಿಸಿಬಿಡುವರು. ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡು, ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬೇಗ ದಂಡಿಸಿಬಿಡುವರು.
For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.
5 ಅವರ ಬಲಿಪೀಠಗಳನ್ನು ಒಡೆದುಹಾಕಬೇಕು. ಅವರ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಕಲ್ಲುಕಂಬಗಳನ್ನು ಒಡೆದು, ಅಶೇರವೆಂಬ ವಿಗ್ರಹಸ್ತಂಭಗಳನ್ನು ಕಡಿದುಹಾಕಬೇಕು. ಅವರ ಕೆತ್ತಿದ ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಡಬೇಕು. ನೀವು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡತಕ್ಕದ್ದು.
But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.
6 ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ ಜನರು. ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರೊಳಗಿಂದ ತಮಗೆ ಸ್ವಂತ ಜನರಾಗಿರಲು ತಮ್ಮ ಆಸ್ತಿಯಾಗಿ ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
For thou [art] a holy people to the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people to himself, above all people that [are] upon the face of the earth.
7 ನೀವು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರಿಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿರುವ ಕಾರಣ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿ ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನೀವು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರಿಗಿಂತ ಸಂಖ್ಯಾತರು.
The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye [were] the fewest of all people:
8 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದಲೂ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪಿತೃಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಪ್ರಮಾಣವನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸುವುದರಿಂದಲೂ, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬಲವಾದ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಗುಲಾಮತನದಿಂದಲೂ, ಈಜಿಪ್ಟಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ಫರೋಹನ ಕೈಯಿಂದಲೂ ವಿಮೋಚಿಸಿದರು.
But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn to your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bond-men, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
9 ಹೀಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಒಬ್ಬರೇ ದೇವರು; ಅವರೇ ನಂಬಿಗಸ್ತರಾದ ದೇವರು; ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿ, ತಮ್ಮ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳುವವರಿಗೆ, ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯನ್ನು ಸಾವಿರ ತಲೆಗಳವರೆಗೂ ತೋರಿಸುವರು.
Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he [is] God, the faithful God, who keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations:
10 ಆದರೆ, ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಹಗೆಮಾಡುವವರಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿ ತೀರಿಸಿ, ಅವರನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕುತ್ತಾರೆ. ದೇವರು ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಹಗೆಮಾಡುವವರಿಗೆ ತಡಮಾಡದೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿ ತೀರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ.
And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.
11 ಹೀಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ನಿಮಗೆ ಕೊಡುವ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನೂ, ತೀರ್ಪುಗಳನ್ನೂ, ನಿಯಮಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.
Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.
12 ನೀವು ಈ ನ್ಯಾಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಕಾಪಾಡಿ ನಡೆದುಕೊಂಡರೆ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪಿತೃಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಮಾಡಿದ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನೂ, ಕರುಣೆಯನ್ನೂ ನಿಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ನೆರವೇರಿಸುವರು.
Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God will keep to thee the covenant and the mercy which he swore to thy fathers:
13 ಅವರು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿ, ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿ, ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೊಳಿಸಿ ಮತ್ತು ನಿಮಗೆ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆಂದು ಅವರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪಿತೃಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಮಾಡಿದ ಆ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಗರ್ಭದ ಫಲವನ್ನೂ ಅಂದರೆ, ಭೂಮಿಯ ಹುಟ್ಟುವಳಿಯನ್ನೂ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಧಾನ್ಯವನ್ನೂ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೊಸ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನೂ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಎಣ್ಣೆಯನ್ನೂ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪಶುಗಳನ್ನೂ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕುರಿಗಳ ಮಂದೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸುವರು.
And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless thy children, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thy oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he swore to thy fathers to give thee.
14 ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ನೀವು ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದಕ್ಕೆ ಪಾತ್ರರಾಗಿರುವಿರಿ. ನಿಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಪುರುಷರಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ, ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಗಂಡು ಪಶುಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯಾಗಲಿ ಬಂಜೆತನವು ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
15 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ರೋಗಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದುಬಿಡುವರು. ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿರುವ ಈಜಿಪ್ಟಿನ ಕ್ರೂರರೋಗಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಬರಮಾಡದ, ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಹಗೆಮಾಡುವವರೆಲ್ಲರ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಬರಮಾಡುವರು.
And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt (which thou knowest) upon thee; but will lay them upon all [them] that hate thee.
16 ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವ ಜನರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನೀವು ಸಂಹರಿಸಬೇಕು. ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ನೀವು ಕಟಾಕ್ಷವಿಡಬಾರದು. ಅವರ ದೇವರುಗಳನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸಬಾರದು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವು ನಿಮಗೆ ಉರುಲಾಗುವವು.
And thou shalt consume all the people which the LORD thy God shall deliver to thee; thy eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that [will be] a snare to thee.
17 “ಈ ಜನಾಂಗದವರು ನಮಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಮಂದಿ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಾವು ಹೇಗೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ವಶಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು?” ಎಂದು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವಿರೋ?
If thou shalt say in thy heart, These nations [are] more than I, how can I dispossess them?
18 ನೀವು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಡಬೇಡಿರಿ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಫರೋಹನಿಗೂ, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಈಜಿಪ್ಟಿನವರಿಗೂ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದನ್ನು
Thou shalt not be afraid of them: [but] shalt well remember what the LORD thy God did to Pharaoh, and to all Egypt;
19 ಕಣ್ಣಾರೆ ನೋಡಿದ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಉಪದ್ರವಗಳನ್ನೂ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಉಂಟಾದ ಗುರುತುಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಅದ್ಭುತಗಳನ್ನೂ, ದೇವರ ಬಲವಾದ ಹಸ್ತವನ್ನೂ, ಚಾಚಿದ ತೋಳನ್ನೂ ನೀವು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ನೀವು ಯಾವ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಡುತ್ತೀರೋ, ಆ ಜನರಿಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮಾಡುವರು.
The great temptations which thy eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the out-stretched arm, by which the LORD thy God brought thee out: so shall the LORD thy God do to all the people of whom thou art afraid.
20 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಉಳಿದವರೂ, ನಿಮಗೆ ಮರೆಯಾಗಿ ಉಳುಕೊಂಡವರೂ ನಾಶವಾಗುವ ತನಕ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಕಣಜದ ಹುಳವನ್ನು ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸುವರು.
Moreover, the LORD thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, shall be destroyed.
21 ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೆದರಬೇಡಿರಿ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಭಯಭಕ್ತಿಗೆ ಯೋಗ್ಯರಾದ ಮಹಾ ದೇವರಾಗಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God [is] among you, a mighty God and terrible.
22 ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಆ ಜನಾಂಗಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪವಾಗಿ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹಾಕುವರು. ನೀವು ಅವರನ್ನು ತ್ವರೆಯಾಗಿ ಸಂಹರಿಸಬಾರದು. ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ, ಕಾಡುಮೃಗಗಳು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ನಿಮಗೆ ತೊಂದರೆಕೊಡುವುವು.
And the LORD thy God will drive out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.
23 ಆದರೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಅವರನ್ನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಬಿಡುವರು. ಅವರು ಸೋತುಹೋಗಿ ಇಲ್ಲದಂತಾಗುವರು.
But the LORD thy God shall deliver them to thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they are destroyed.
24 ದೇವರು ಅವರ ಅರಸರನ್ನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವರು. ನೀವು ಅವರ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಆಕಾಶದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಹಾಗೆ ದಂಡಿಸುವಿರಿ. ನೀವು ಅವರನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮೂಲ ಮಾಡುವ ತನಕ ಒಬ್ಬನಾದರೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಲಾರನು.
And he shall deliver their kings into thy hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou shalt have destroyed them.
25 ಅವರ ದೇವರುಗಳ ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಡಬೇಕು. ಅವುಗಳ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಬಂಗಾರವನ್ನು ಆಶಿಸಿ ನೀವು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು. ಅದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಉರುಲಾದೀತು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅದು ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯವೇ.
The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold [that is] on them, nor take [it] to thee, lest thou shouldst be snared in it: for it [is] an abomination to the LORD thy God.
26 ನೀವು ಅದರಂತೆ ಶಾಪಕ್ಕೊಳಗಾಗದ ಹಾಗೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯವಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರಬಾರದು. ಅದನ್ನು ಕೆಟ್ಟದಾಗಿ ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅದನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಅಸಹ್ಯಿಸಬೇಕು, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅದು ಶಾಪಗ್ರಸ್ತವಾದದ್ದು.
Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thy house, lest thou shouldst be a cursed thing like it: [but] thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it [is] a cursed thing.
