ಧರ್ಮೋಪದೇಶಕಾಂಡ 5

1 ಮೋಶೆಯು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕರೆದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು: ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೇ, ನಾನು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ನೀವು ಕೇಳುವಂತೆ ಹೇಳುವ ನಿಯಮಗಳನ್ನೂ, ನ್ಯಾಯಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕೇಳಿರಿ. ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲಿತು ಕೈಗೊಂಡು ನಡೆಯಬೇಕು.

And Moses called all Israel, and said to them: Hear, O Israel, the ceremonies and judgments, which I speak in your ears this day: learn them, and fulfill them in work.

2 ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಹೋರೇಬಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.

The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.

3 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಆ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಪಿತೃಗಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಅಲ್ಲ, ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡವೇ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವದಿಂದಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

He made not the covenant with our fathers, but with us, who are now present and living.

4 ಮುಖಾಮುಖಿಯಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಕಿಯೊಳಗಿಂದ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.

He spoke to us face to face in the mount out of the midst of fire.

5 ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೂ, ನಿಮಗೂ ನಡುವೆ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದೆನು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನೀವು ಆ ಬೆಂಕಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಟ್ಟು, ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲೆ ಏರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ದೇವರು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ:

I was the mediator and stood between the Lord and you at that time, to shew you his words, for you feared the fire, and went not up into the mountain, and he said:

6 “ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಈಜಿಪ್ಟ್ ದೇಶದಿಂದಲೂ, ದಾಸತ್ವದ ನಾಡಿನೊಳಗಿಂದಲೂ ಹೊರಗೆ ತಂದ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಾನೇ.

I am the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

7 “ನಾನಲ್ಲದೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಬೇರೆ ದೇವರುಗಳು ಇರಬಾರದು.

Thou shalt not have strange gods in my sight.

8 ಮೇಲಿನ ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ, ಕೆಳಗಿನ ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ, ಭೂಮಿಯ ಕೆಳಗಿರುವ ನೀರುಗಳಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ ಇರುವ ಯಾವುದರ ವಿಗ್ರಹವನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ರೂಪವನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ನೀನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು.

Thou shalt not make to thyself a graven thing, nor the likeness of any things, that are in heaven above, or that are in the earth beneath, or that abide in the waters under the earth.

9 ನೀನು ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡ ಬೀಳಬಾರದು ಮತ್ತು ಆರಾಧಿಸಲೂಬಾರದು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ನಾನು, ನನಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲಬೇಕಾದ ಗೌರವವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲಗೊಡಿಸದ ಸ್ವಾಮ್ಯಾಸಕ್ತನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಗೆ ಮಾಡುವ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳ ಅಪರಾಧವನ್ನು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಮೂರನೆಯ ನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ತಲೆಗಳವರೆಗೂ ಬರಮಾಡುವೆನು.

Thou shalt not adore them, and thou shalt not serve them. For I am the Lord thy God, a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon their children unto the third and fourth generation, to them that hate me,

10 ಆದರೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿ, ನನ್ನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳುವವರಿಗೆ, ಸಾವಿರ ತಲೆಗಳವರೆಗೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.

And shewing mercy unto many thousands, to them that love me, and keep my commandments.

11 ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ದುರುಪಯೋಗಮಾಡಬಾರದು, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ದುರುಪಯೋಗಮಾಡುವವರನ್ನು ಶಿಕ್ಷಿಸದೆ ಬಿಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for he shall not be unpunished that taketh his name upon a vain thing.

12 ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿನಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ ದಿನವೆಂದು ಆಚರಿಸಬೇಕು.

Observe the day of the sabbath, to sanctify it, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee.

13 ಆರು ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ದುಡಿದು, ನಿನ್ನ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು.

Six days shalt thou labour, and shalt do all thy works.

14 ಆದರೆ ಏಳನೆಯ ದಿನ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನವಾಗಿದೆ. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನಾಗಲೀ, ನಿನ್ನ ಮಗನಾಗಲೀ, ನಿನ್ನ ಮಗಳಾಗಲೀ, ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸನಾಗಲೀ, ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸಿಯಾಗಲೀ, ನಿನ್ನ ಎತ್ತೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಕತ್ತೆಯೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪಶುಗಳೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಊರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅನ್ಯದೇಶದವರು ಸಹ ಯಾವ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು. ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸನೂ ದಾಸಿಯೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಹಾಗೆ ವಿಶ್ರಮಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.

The seventh is the day of the sabbath, that is, the rest of the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not do any work therein, thou nor thy son nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant nor thy maidservant, nor thy ox, nor thy ass, nor any of thy beasts, nor the stranger that is within thy gates: that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest, even as thyself.

15 ನೀನು ಈಜಿಪ್ಟ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಸನಾಗಿದ್ದಿಯೆಂದೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಬಲವಾದ ಹಸ್ತದಿಂದಲೂ ಚಾಚಿದ ಭುಜದಿಂದಲೂ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿದರೆಂದೂ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ಆದಕಾರಣ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿನಗೆ ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

Remember that thou also didst serve in Egypt, and the Lord thy God brought thee out from thence with a strong hand, and a stretched out arm. Therefore hath he commanded thee that thou shouldst observe the sabbath day.

16 ನಿನ್ನ ದಿವಸಗಳು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗುವ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿನಗೆ ಕೊಡುವ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗುವ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದಂತೆ ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯನ್ನೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯನ್ನೂ ಗೌರವಿಸು.

Honour thy father and mother, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee, that thou mayst live a long time, and it may be well with thee in the land, which the Lord thy God will give thee.

17 ಕೊಲೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ.

Thou shalt not kill.

18 ವ್ಯಭಿಚಾರ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ.

Neither shalt thou commit adultery.

19 ಕದಿಯಬೇಡ.

And thou shalt not steal.

20 ನಿನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಸುಳ್ಳುಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಹೇಳಬೇಡ.

Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour.

21 ನಿನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನು ಆಶಿಸಬೇಡ. ನಿನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನ ಮನೆಯನ್ನೂ, ಅವನ ಹೊಲವನ್ನೂ, ಅವನ ದಾಸನನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ಅವನ ದಾಸಿಯನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ಅವನ ಎತ್ತನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ಅವನ ಕತ್ತೆಯನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ನಿನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನಿಗೆ ಇರುವ ಯಾವುದನ್ನೂ ಆಶಿಸಬೇಡ.”

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife: nor his house, nor his field, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is his.

22 ಈ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ, ಮೋಡ, ಕಾರ್ಗತ್ತಲು, ಇವುಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯದೊಳಗಿಂದ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಭೆಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೇಳಿಸುವಂತೆ ಮಹಾ ಸ್ವರದಿಂದ ನುಡಿದರು. ಅವರು ಹೆಚ್ಚೇನೂ ಕೂಡಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ದೇವರು ಈ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಎರಡು ಹಲಗೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದು ನನಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟರು.

These words the Lord spoke to all the multitude of you in the mountain, out of the midst of the fire and the cloud, and the darkness, with a loud voice, adding nothing more: and he wrote them in two tables of stone, which he delivered unto me.

23 ಆ ಬೆಟ್ಟವು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಉರಿಯುತ್ತಿರಲಾಗಿ, ನೀವು ಕತ್ತಲೆಯಿಂದ ಆ ಸ್ವರವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಗೋತ್ರಗಳ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರೂ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹಿರಿಯರೂ ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ನನಗೆ,

But you, after you heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, and saw the mountain burn, came to me, all the princes of the tribes and the elders, and you said:

24 “ಇಗೋ, ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನೂ, ತಮ್ಮ ಘನವನ್ನೂ ನಮಗೆ ತೋರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರ ಸ್ವರವನ್ನು ಬೆಂಕಿಯೊಳಗಿಂದ ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ದೇವರು ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಮೇಲೂ, ಅವರು ಬದುಕುತ್ತಾರೆಂದು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ನೋಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

Behold the Lord our God hath shewn us his majesty and his greatness, we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire, and have proved this day that God speaking with man, man hath lived.

25 ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ಈಗ ನಾವು ಏಕೆ ಸಾಯಬೇಕು? ಈ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಬೆಂಕಿಯು ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ದಹಿಸಿಬಿಡುವುದು. ನಾವು ಇನ್ನೂ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಸ್ವರವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದರೆ ಸಾಯುತ್ತೇವೆ.

Why shall we die therefore, and why shall this exceeding great Are consume us: for if we hear the voice of the Lord our God any more, we shall die.

26 ಸಮಸ್ತ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರು ನಮ್ಮ ಹಾಗೆ ಬೆಂಕಿಯೊಳಗಿಂದ ಮಾತನಾಡುವ ಜೀವವುಳ್ಳ ದೇವರ ಸ್ವರವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಬದುಕಿದರು?

What is all flesh, that it should hear the voice of the living God, who speaketh out of the midst of the fire, as we have heard, and be able to live?

27 ನೀನೇ ಸಮೀಪಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಹೇಳುವುದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೇಳಿ, ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಮಗೆ ಹೇಳು. ಆಗ ನಾವು ಕೇಳಿ ಅದರಂತೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಿರಿ.

Approach thou rather: and hear all things that the Lord our God shall say to thee, and thou shalt speak to us, and we will hear and will do them.

28 ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದಾಗ, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ನನಗೆ, “ಈ ಜನರು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೆಲ್ಲಾ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು.

And when the Lord had heard this, he said to me: I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they spoke to thee: they have spoken all things well.

29 ಅವರು ನನಗೆ ಭಯಪಟ್ಟು, ನನ್ನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಎಂದೆಂದಿಗೂ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳುವಂಥ ಹೃದಯವು ಅವರಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರೆ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು. ಆಗ ಅವರಿಗೂ, ಅವರ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೂ ಎಂದೆಂದಿಗೂ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗುವುದು.”

Who shall give them to have such a mind, to fear me, and to keep all my commandments at all times, that it may be well with them and with their children for ever?

30 “ನೀನು ಹೋಗಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ, ‘ನಿಮ್ಮ ಡೇರೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿರಿ,’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳು.

Go and say to them: Return into your tents.

31 ನೀನಾದರೋ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ನಿಂತುಕೋ. ಆಗ ನೀನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಬೋಧಿಸತಕ್ಕಂಥ ಮತ್ತು ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸೊತ್ತಾಗಿ ಕೊಡುವ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಮಾಡತಕ್ಕಂಥ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಆಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಮ ಮತ್ತು ನ್ಯಾಯಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೇಳುವೆನು.”

But stand thou here with me, and I will speak to thee all my commandments, and ceremonies and judgments: which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land, which I will give them for a possession.

32 ಹೀಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಂಡು ನಡೆಯಬೇಕು. ಎಡಕ್ಕಾದರೂ, ಬಲಕ್ಕಾದರೂ ತಿರುಗಬೇಡಿರಿ.

Keep therefore and do the things which the Lord God hath commanded you: you shall not go aside neither to the right hand, nor to the left.

33 ನೀವು ಬದುಕುವ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ, ನಿಮಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗುವ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ, ನೀವು ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದಿವಸಗಳು ಬಹಳವಾಗುವ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳಲ್ಲೇ ನಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.

But you shall walk in the way that the Lord your God hath commanded, that you may live, and it may be well with you, and your days may be long in the land of your possession.
