ದಾನಿಯೇಲನು 1
1 ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಯಾಕೀಮನ ಆಳಿಕೆಯ ಮೂರನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಬಿಲೋನಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ನೆಬೂಕದ್ನೆಚ್ಚರನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆಹಾಕಿದನು.
In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.
2 ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಯಾಕೀಮನನ್ನು ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಕೆಲವು ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿದನು. ಅವನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಶಿನಾರ್ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೂ, ತನ್ನ ದೇವರ ಆಲಯಕ್ಕೂ ತಂದು, ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ದೇವರ ಬೊಕ್ಕಸದ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಿಸಿದನು.
And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God; and he carried them into the land of Shinar to the house of his god: and he brought the vessels into the treasure-house of his god.
3 ಅರಸನು ತನ್ನ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥನಾದ ಅಶ್ಪೆನಜನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಅವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೊಳಗೆ ಕೆಲವರನ್ನು ಅರಸನ ಸಂತಾನದೊಳಗಿಂದಲೂ, ಪ್ರಧಾನರೊಳಗಿಂದಲೂ
And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring in [certain] of the children of Israel, even of the seed royal and of the nobles;
4 ಶಾರೀರಿಕ ನ್ಯೂನತೆ ಇಲ್ಲದವರಾಗಿಯೂ, ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿಯೂ, ಅವರು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ರೀತಿಯ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲಿಯುವ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರಬೇಕು. ಅವರು ವಿವೇಕವುಳ್ಳವರಾಗಿಯೂ ಮತ್ತು ತ್ವರಿತವಾಗಿ ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವರಾಗಿಯೂ, ಅರಸನ ಅರಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡಲು ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವುಳ್ಳವರಾಗಿಯೂ ಇರುವ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರನ್ನು ತಂದು ಬಾಬಿಲೋನಿಯರ ವಿದ್ಯೆಯನ್ನೂ, ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಬೋಧಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
youths in whom was no blemish, but well-favored, and skilful in all wisdom, and endued with knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability to stand in the king’s palace; and that he should teach them the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
5 ಅರಸನು ರಾಜಭೋಜನದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ತಾನು ಕುಡಿಯುವ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನವೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಪಾಲನ್ನು ನೇಮಿಸಿದನು. ಹೀಗೆ ಅವರು ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಪೋಷಿಸಲಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅರಸನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯ ಸೇವಕರಾಗುವರು.
And the king appointed for them a daily portion of the king’s dainties, and of the wine which he drank, and that they should be nourished three years; that at the end thereof they should stand before the king.
6 ಇವರಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೂದದಿಂದ ದಾನಿಯೇಲ, ಹನನ್ಯ, ಮೀಶಾಯೇಲ್, ಅಜರ್ಯ ಎಂಬವರಿದ್ದರು.
Now among these were, of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.
7 ಇವರಿಗೆ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಯಜಮಾನನು ದಾನಿಯೇಲನಿಗೆ ಬೇಲ್ತೆಶಚ್ಚರ್ ಎಂದೂ, ಹನನ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಶದ್ರಕ್ ಎಂದೂ, ಮೀಶಾಯೇಲನಿಗೆ ಮೇಶಕ್ ಎಂದೂ, ಅಜರ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಅಬೇದ್‌ನೆಗೋ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು.
And the prince of the eunuchs gave names unto them: unto Daniel he gave [the name of] Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, [of] Shadrach; and to Mishael, [of] Meshach; and to Azariah, [of] Abed-nego.
8 ದಾನಿಯೇಲನು ಅರಸನ ಭೋಜನದ ಪಾಲಿನಿಂದಲಾದರೂ, ಅವನು ಕುಡಿಯುವ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸದಿಂದಾದರೂ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಅಶುದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ತನ್ನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಶ್ಚಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ತಾನು ಅಶುದ್ಧನಾಗದ ಹಾಗೆ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಯಜಮಾನನನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡನು.
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king’s dainties, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
9 ಆಗ ದೇವರು ದಾನಿಯೇಲನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಯಜಮಾನನ ದಯೆ, ಕನಿಕರ ತೋರುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
Now God made Daniel to find kindness and compassion in the sight of the prince of the eunuchs.
10 ಕಂಚುಕಿಯ ಯಜಮಾನನು ದಾನಿಯೇಲನಿಗೆ, “ನಿಮ್ಮ ಅನ್ನಪಾನಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೇಮಿಸಿದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ನಾನು ಭಯಪಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅರಸನು ಏಕೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಖಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇರುವ ಇತರ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರಿಗಿಂತ ಕಳೆಗುಂದಿದವುಗಳನ್ನಾಗಿ ನೋಡಬೇಕು. ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನೀವು ಅರಸನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ನನ್ನ ತಲೆಗೆ ಅಪಾಯವನ್ನು ಬರಮಾಡುತ್ತೀರಿ?” ಎಂದನು.
And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your food and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse looking than the youths that are of your own age? so would ye endanger my head with the king.
11 ಆಮೇಲೆ ದಾನಿಯೇಲನು ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಯಜಮಾನನು ಹನನ್ಯ, ಮೀಶಾಯೇಲ್, ಅಜರ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಕನಿಗೆ,
Then said Daniel to the steward whom the prince of the eunuchs had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:
12 “ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ಹತ್ತು ದಿವಸಗಳವರೆಗೂ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ನೋಡು. ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮ ಆಹಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಕೇವಲ ಕಾಯಿಪಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು, ಕುಡಿಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೇವಲ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕೊಡಲಿ.
Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.
13 ಆಗ ನಮ್ಮ ಮುಖಗಳು ಅರಸನ ಭೋಜನದ ಪಾಲನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನುವ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರ ಮುಖಗಳು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಕಾಣಬರಲಿ. ನಿನಗೆ ಕಾಣುವ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಿಗೆ ನೋಡುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡು,” ಎಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡನು.
Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the youths that eat of the king’s dainties; and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.
14 ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವನು ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯದ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿ, ಹತ್ತು ದಿವಸಗಳವರೆಗೂ ಅವರನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದನು.
So he hearkened unto them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
15 ಹತ್ತು ದಿವಸಗಳಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅರಸನ ಭೋಜನದ ಪಾಲನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನುವ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗಿಂತ ಇವರು ಆರೋಗ್ಯಕರವಾಗಿಯೂ, ಶರೀರದಲ್ಲಿ ಪುಷ್ಟರಾಗಿಯೂ ಕಾಣಿಸಿದರು.
And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer, and they were fatter in flesh, than all the youths that did eat of the king’s dainties.
16 ಹೀಗೆ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಕನು ಅವರ ಭೋಜನದ ಪಾಲನ್ನು ಅವರು ಕುಡಿಯುವಂಥ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸಸ್ಯಾಹಾರವನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
So the steward took away their dainties, and the wine that they should drink, and gave them pulse.
17 ಈ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರಿಗೆ ದೇವರು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವಿದ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಜ್ಞಾನದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನೂ, ವಿವೇಕವನ್ನೂ ಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ದಾನಿಯೇಲನು ಸಕಲ ದರ್ಶನಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಕನಸುಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಯುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
Now as for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
18 ಅರಸನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕರೆತರಬೇಕೆಂದು ನೇಮಿಸಿದ ದಿವಸಗಳ ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಯಜಮಾನನು ಅವರನ್ನು ನೆಬೂಕದ್ನೆಚ್ಚರನ ಮುಂದೆ ತಂದನು.
And at the end of the days which the king had appointed for bringing them in, the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.
19 ಅರಸನು ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದನು. ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರಲ್ಲಿ ದಾನಿಯೇಲ, ಹನನ್ಯ, ಮೀಶಾಯೇಲ್ ಮತ್ತು ಅಜರ್ಯ ಇವರ ಹಾಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬನೂ ಸಿಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದಲೇ ಇವರು ಅರಸನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯ ಸೇವಕರಾದರು.
And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.
20 ಅರಸನು ಅವರ ಹತ್ತಿರ ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿದಾಗ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಜ್ಞಾನ ವಿವೇಕಗಳ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮಂತ್ರಗಾರರಿಗಿಂತಲೂ, ಜೋತಿಷ್ಯರಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಇವರೇ ಹತ್ತರಷ್ಟು ಉತ್ತಮರೆಂದು ಕಂಡನು.
And in every matter of wisdom and understanding, concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters that were in all his realm.
21 ದಾನಿಯೇಲನು ರಾಜ ಕೋರೆಷನ ಆಳಿಕೆಯ ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದ ತನಕ ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇದ್ದನು.
And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.
