1 ದಾವೀದನ ಕಡೆಯ ಮಾತುಗಳು: “ಇಷಯನ ಮಗ ದಾವೀದನ ನುಡಿಗಳಿವು: ಉನ್ನತವಾಗಿ ಸಾಗಿದ ಪುರುಷನು ಯಾಕೋಬನ ದೇವರಿಂದ ಅಭಿಷಿಕ್ತನಾದವನು, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ರಮ್ಯವಾದ ಕೀರ್ತನೆಗಾರನು ನುಡಿದದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ:

Now these are the last words of David— David son of Jesse, the man who was highly honored, the one anointed by the God of Jacob, the sweet psalmist of Israel.

2 “ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಆತ್ಮರು ನನ್ನ ಮೂಲಕ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು; ಅವರ ನುಡಿ ನನ್ನ ಬಾಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇತ್ತು.

“The Spirit of Yahweh spoke by me, and his word was on my tongue.

3 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ದೇವರೂ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಬಂಡೆಯಾದವರೂ ನನಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ್ದು: ‘ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆ ನೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಆಳುವವನು, ದೇವರ ಭಯದಿಂದ ಆಳುವವನು.

The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said to me, 'The one who rules righteously over men, who rules in the fear of God.

4 ಮೋಡವಿಲ್ಲದ ಮುಂಜಾನೆ ಸೂರ್ಯೋದಯದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿಯ ಉದಯದ ಬೆಳಕಿನಂತಿರುವನು. ಭೂಮಿಯಿಂದ ಹುಲ್ಲು ಮೊಳೆಯಿಸುವ ಮಳೆಯ ನಂತರದ ಪ್ರಕಾಶದಂತಿರುವನು.’

He will be like the morning light when the sun rises, a morning without clouds, when the tender grass springs up from the earth through bright sunshine after rain.

5 “ನನ್ನ ಮನೆ ದೇವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿರದಿದ್ದರೆ, ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿಯೂ ಅವರು ನನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಶಾಶ್ವತವಾದ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಗೊಳಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಭದ್ರಪಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ದೇವರು ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿಯೂ ನನ್ನ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ತಿಗೊಳಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ದೇವರು ನನ್ನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

Indeed, is my family not like this before God? Has he not made an everlasting covenant with me, ordered and sure in every way? Does he not increase my salvation and fulfill my every desire?

6 ಆದರೆ ದುಷ್ಟಜನರೆಲ್ಲರು ಕೈಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿಸದೆ, ಎಸೆದುಬಿಡುವ ಮುಳ್ಳಿನಂತೆ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ.

But the worthless will all be like thorns to be thrown away, because they cannot be gathered by one's hands.

7 ಮುಳ್ಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟುವವರು ಕಬ್ಬಿಣದ ಆಯುಧ ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸುವರು, ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಈಟಿಯ ಮೊನೆಯನ್ನು ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸುವರು. ಅವು ಬೀಳುವ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಟ್ಟುಹೋಗುವುವು.”

The man who touches them must use an iron tool or the shaft of a spear. They must be burned up where they lie.'”

8 ದಾವೀದನ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳ ಹೆಸರುಗಳು ಇವೇ: ಮೂರು ಜನ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು ತಹ್ಕೆಮೋನ್ಯನಾದ ಯೋಷೆಬ್ ಬಷ್ಷೆಬೆತ ಎಂಬವನು; ಇವನು ತನ್ನ ಈಟಿಯಿಂದ ಎಂಟುನೂರು ಮಂದಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಹೋರಾಡಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಒಂದೇ ಕಾಳಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದನು.

These are the names of David's mighty men: Jeshbaal the Hachmonite was the leader of the mighty men. He killed eight hundred men on one occasion.

9 ಇವನ ತರುವಾಯ ಅಹೋಹ್ಯನಾಗಿರುವ ದೋದೋ ಎಂಬವನ ಮಗನಾಗಿರುವ ಎಲಿಯಾಜರನು; ಇವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಜನರು ಓಡಿ ಹೋದ ತರುವಾಯ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಕೂಡಿಬಂದ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರನ್ನು ನಿಂದಿಸಿದ ದಾವೀದನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಮೂವರು ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.

After him was Eleazar son of Dodai the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men. He was with David when they taunted the Philistines who had gathered together to do battle, and when the men of Israel had retreated.

10 ಎಲಿಯಾಜರನು ಎದ್ದು ಖಡ್ಗ ಹಿಡಿದ ತನ್ನ ಕೈ ದಣಿದು ಮರಗಟ್ಟಿ ಹೋಗುವವರೆಗೂ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು. ಆ ದಿನ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ದೊಡ್ಡ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡಿದರು. ಸೈನಿಕರು ಸುಲಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಅವನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿದರು.

Eleazar stood and fought the Philistines until his hand became weary and his hand stiffened to the grip of his sword. Yahweh brought about a great victory that day. The army returned after Eleazar, only to strip the bodies.

11 ಇವನ ತರುವಾಯ ಹರಾರ್ಯನಾದ ಆಗೇಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಶಮ್ಮನು; ಅಲಸಂದಿಯಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿರುವ ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ದಂಡಾಗಿ ಕೂಡಿಬಂದಾಗ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಸೈನ್ಯದವರು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಎದುರಿನಿಂದ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು.

After him was Shammah son of Agee, a Hararite. The Philistines gathered together where there was a field of lentils, and the army fled from them.

12 ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಆ ಹೊಲದ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡು, ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿ ಹೊಲವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡಿದನು, ಹೀಗೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಮಹಾಜಯವನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡಿದರು.

But Shammah stood in the middle of the field and defended it. He killed the Philistines, and Yahweh brought about a great victory.

13 ಮೂವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಹೊರಟು ಸುಗ್ಗಿಯ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದುಲ್ಲಾಮ್ ಗವಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ದಾವೀದನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು. ಅದೇ ವೇಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಸೈನ್ಯವು ರೆಫಾಯಿಮ್ ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಳೆಯ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿತ್ತು.

Three of the thirty soldiers went down to David at harvest time, to the cave of Adullam. The army of the Philistines was camped in the Valley of Rephaim.

14 ದಾವೀದನು ಕೋಟೆ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದನು, ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ದಂಡು ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿತ್ತು.

At that time David was in his stronghold, a cave, while the Philistines had established at Bethlehem.

15 ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು, “ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನ ಬಾಗಿಲ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬಾವಿಯ ನೀರನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕುಡಿಯಲು ಕೊಡುವವನ್ಯಾರು,” ಎಂದು ಬಹು ಆಶೆಯಿಂದ ಹೇಳಿದನು.

David was longing for water and said, “If only someone would give me water to drink from the well at Bethlehem, the well that is by the gate!”

16 ಆಗ ಆ ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ದಂಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನುಗ್ಗಿಹೋಗಿ ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನ ಬಾಗಿಲ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬಾವಿಯ ನೀರನ್ನು ಸೇದಿ, ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದರು. ಆದರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಅವನು ಕುಡಿಯದೇ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸುವಂತೆ ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಸುರಿದನು.

So these three mighty men broke through the army of the Philistines and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, the well at the gate. They took the water and brought it to David, but he refused to drink it. Instead, he poured it out to Yahweh.

17 ಅವನು, “ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರೇ, ನಾನು ಇಂಥಾ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಮಾಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ಇದು ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಾಣದಾಶೆ ತೊರೆದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ರಕ್ತವಲ್ಲವೇ?” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಕುಡಿಯಲೊಲ್ಲದೆ ಇದ್ದನು. ಇಂಥಾ ಮಹಾಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಈ ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳು ಮಾಡಿದರು.

Then he said, “Yahweh, far be it from me, that I should do this. Should I drink the blood of men who have risked their lives?” So he refused to drink it. These things were done by the three mighty.

18 ಯೋವಾಬನ ಸಹೋದರ ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮಗ ಅಬೀಷೈಯನು ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥನು. ಅವನು ಮುನ್ನೂರು ಮಂದಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಈಟಿಯನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಮೂವರಂತೆ ಹೆಸರುಗೊಂಡನು.

Abishai, brother of Joab and son of Zeruiah, was captain over the three. He once fought with his spear against three hundred men and killed them. He was often mentioned along with the three soldiers.

19 ಈ ಮೂವರಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನು ಇಬ್ಬರಿಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಘನವುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು, ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಧಾನನಾದನು. ಆದರೂ ಆ ಮೊದಲಿನ ಮೂರು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಅವನು ಸಮಾನನಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

Was he not even more famous than the three? He was made their captain. However, his fame did not equal the fame of the three most famous soldiers.

20 ಕಬ್ಜಯೇಲನ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಯ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗನೂ ಯೆಹೋಯಾದಾವನ ಮಗನೂ ಆದ ಬೆನಾಯನು ಅನೇಕ ಶೂರ ಕೃತ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಅವನು ಬಲಶಾಲಿಯಾದ ಮೋವಾಬಿನ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದನು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಹಿಮಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಣಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಇಳಿದು ಒಂದು ಸಿಂಹವನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಬಿಟ್ಟನು.

Benaiah from Kabzeel was the son of Jehoiada; he was a strong man who did mighty feats. He killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down into a pit and killed a lion while it was snowing.

21 ಅವನು ಬಲಿಷ್ಠನಾದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಈಜಿಪ್ಟಿನವನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದುಬಿಟ್ಟನು. ಆ ಈಜಿಪ್ಟಿನವನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಪ್ಪವಾದ ಒಂದು ಈಟಿ ಇದ್ದರೂ, ತಾನು ಒಂದು ಕೋಲು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಈಜಿಪ್ಟಿನವನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಈಟಿಯನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು, ಅವನ ಈಟಿಯಿಂದಲೇ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದನು.

Then he killed a very large Egyptian man. The Egyptian had a spear in his hand, but Benaiah fought against him with only a staff. He seized the spear out of the Egyptian's hand and then killed him with his own spear.

22 ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಯೆಹೋಯಾದಾವನ ಮಗ ಬೆನಾಯನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳಂತೆಯೇ ಹೆಸರುಗೊಂಡನು.

Benaiah son of Jehoiada did these feats, and he was named alongside the three mighty men.

23 ಇವನು ಮೂವತ್ತು ಜನರಿಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಘನವುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಆದರೆ ಆ ಮೊದಲಿನ ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸಲಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ದಾವೀದನು ಅವನನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಮೈಗಾವಲಿನವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಯಜಮಾನನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಇಟ್ಟನು.

He was more highly regarded than the thirty soldiers in general, but he was not regarded quite as highly as the three mighty men. Yet David put him in charge of his bodyguard.

24 ಈ ಮೂವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಯಾರೆಂದರೆ: ಯೋವಾಬನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಅಸಾಯೇಲನು, ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮ್ ಊರಿನ ದೋದೋವಿನ ಮಗ ಎಲ್ಹನಾನನು;

The thirty included the following men: Asahel brother of Joab, Elhanan son of Dodo from Bethlehem,

25 ಹರೋದಿನವನಾದ ಶಮ್ಮನು; ಹರೋದಿನವನಾದ ಎಲೀಕನು;

Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,

26 ಪೆಲೆಟಿನವನಾದ ಹೆಲೆಚನು; ತೆಕೋವದ ಇಕ್ಕೇಷನ ಮಗನಾದ ಈರನು;

Helez the Paltite, Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,

27 ಅನಾತೋತಿನವನಾದ ಅಬೀಯೆಜೆರನು; ಹುಷಾ ಊರಿನವನಾದ ಮೆಬುನೈ,

Abiezer the Anathothite, Sibbekai the Hushathite,

28 ಅಹೋಹ್ಯನಾದ ಚಲ್ಮೋನನು; ನೆಟೋಫದವನಾದ ಮಹರೈ;

Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite;

29 ನೆಟೋಫದವನಾದ ಬಾಣನ ಮಗ ಹೆಲೇಬ್, ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದ ಗಿಬೆಯ ಊರಿನ ರೀಬೈ ಎಂಬುವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಇತ್ತೈ;

Heleb son of Baanah, the Netophathite, Ithai son of Ribai from Gibeah of the Benjamites,
