ಸಮುವೇಲನು - ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಭಾಗ 19
1 “ಅರಸನು ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಅತ್ತು ದುಃಖ ಪಡುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ,” ಎಂದು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
And it was told Joab, Behold, the king weepeth and mourneth for Absalom.
2 “ಅರಸನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ವ್ಯಥೆಪಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ,” ಎಂದು ಎಲ್ಲ ಜನರಿಗೂ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆ ವಿಜಯದ ದಿನವು ಸಮಸ್ತ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಗೋಳಾಟವಾಗಿ ಮಾರ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತು.
And the victory that day was turned into mourning unto all the people: for the people heard say that day, The king grieveth for his son.
3 ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಜನರು ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ಅವಮಾನ ಪಟ್ಟು ಬರುವ ಕಳ್ಳರ ಹಾಗೆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದೊಳಗೆ ಬಂದರು.
And the people gat them by stealth that day into the city, as people that are ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.
4 ಆದರೆ ಅರಸನು ಮೋರೆಯನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡು, ಮಹಾಶಬ್ದವಾಗಿ, “ನನ್ನ ಮಗ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನೇ, ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನೇ ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ,” ಎಂದು ಕೂಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
And the king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, O my son Absalom, O Absalom, my son, my son!
5 ಆಗ ಯೋವಾಬನು ಮನೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಪುತ್ರಪುತ್ರಿಯರ ಪ್ರಾಣಗಳನ್ನೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರ ಮತ್ತು ಉಪಪತ್ನಿಯರ ಪ್ರಾಣಗಳನ್ನೂ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ನಾಚಿಕೆಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದೀ.
And Joab came into the house to the king, and said, Thou hast shamed this day the faces of all thy servants, which this day have saved thy life, and the lives of thy sons and of thy daughters, and the lives of thy wives, and the lives of thy concubines;
6 ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಹಗೆಯವರನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾಡಿ, ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುವವರನ್ನು ಹಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಸೇನಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಏನೂ ಅಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ಈಗ ತಿಳಿಯಮಾಡಿದಿ. ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಸತ್ತು ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ಬದುಕಿದ್ದರೆ, ನಿನಗೆ ಸಂತೋಷವಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ಅನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
in that thou lovest them that hate thee, and hatest them that love thee. For thou hast declared this day, that princes and servants are nought unto thee: for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well.
7 ಈಗ ನೀನು ಎದ್ದು ಹೊರಟುಬಂದು, ನಿನ್ನ ಸೈನಿಕರ ಸಂಗಡ ಸಮಾಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡು. ನೀನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಾರದೆ ಇದ್ದರೆ, ಈ ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರಾದರೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟು ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆಗ ನಿನ್ನ ಯೌವನಕಾಲದಿಂದ ಈ ದಿನದವರೆಗೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಬಂದ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಕೇಡಿಗಿಂತ ಅದು ಅಧಿಕ ಕೇಡಾಗಿರುವುದು,” ಎಂದನು.
Now therefore arise, go forth and speak comfortably unto thy servants: for I swear by the LORD, if thou go not forth, there will not tarry a man with thee this night: and that will be worse unto thee than all the evil that hath befallen thee from thy youth until now.
8 ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಎದ್ದು ಹೋಗಿ ಬಾಗಿಲಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತನು. “ಅರಸನು ಬಾಗಿಲಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತಿದ್ದಾನೆ,” ಎಂದು ಸಮಸ್ತ ಸೈನಿಕರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಸೈನಿಕರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅರಸನ ಎದುರಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು. ಆದರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು.
Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. And they told unto all the people, saying, Behold, the king doth sit in the gate: and all the people came before the king. Now Israel had fled every man to his tent.
9 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕುಲಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಜನರು ತಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ ಜಗಳ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ, “ನಮ್ಮ ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ವಿಮೋಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿದವನು ಅರಸನೇ, ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ವಿಮೋಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿದವನು ಅರಸನೇ, ಆದರೆ ಈಗ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
And all the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, The king delivered us out of the hand of our enemies, and he saved us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he is fled out of the land from Absalom.
10 ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಆಳಲು ನಾವು ಅಭಿಷೇಕಿಸಿದ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ತನು. ನಾವು ಈಗ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ತಿರುಗಿ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಾರದೆ, ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಇರುವುದು ಏಕೆ?” ಎಂದರು.
And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back?
11 ಆಗ ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನು ಯಾಜಕರಾದ ಚಾದೋಕನ ಬಳಿಗೂ, ಅಬಿಯಾತರನ ಬಳಿಗೂ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ, “ನೀವು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಹಿರಿಯರಿಗೆ, ‘ಸಮಸ್ತ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮಾತು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಅವನ ಅರಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ತಿಳಿದಿರುವಾಗ, ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಅವನ ಮನೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರುವಂತೆ ನೀವು ಹಿಂಜರಿದದ್ದೇನು?
And king David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, saying, Speak unto the elders of Judah, saying, Why are ye the last to bring the king back to his house? seeing the speech of all Israel is come to the king, [to bring him] to his house.
12 ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರೂ, ನನ್ನ ರಕ್ತವೂ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾಂಸವೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದೀರಿ. ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ತಿರುಗಿ ಬರಮಾಡುವಂತೆ ನೀವು ಹಿಂಜರಿದದ್ದೇನು?’ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿರಿ.
Ye are my brethren, ye are my bone and my flesh: wherefore then are ye the last to bring back the king?
13 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ನೀವು ಅಮಾಸನಿಗೆ, ‘ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ರಕ್ತವೂ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾಂಸವೂ ಅಲ್ಲವೋ? ನೀನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ನನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ಸೈನ್ಯದ ಪ್ರಧಾನನಾಗಿರದೆ ಹೋದರೆ, ದೇವರು ನನಗೆ ಏನಾದರೂ ಮಾಡಲಿ,’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿರಿ,” ಎಂದನು.
And say ye to Amasa, Art thou not my bone and my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually in the room of Joab.
14 ಅರಸನು ಸಕಲ ಯೆಹೂದ ಜನರ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಗೆದ್ದುಕೊಂಡದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅವರು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಸೇವಕರೂ ತಿರುಗಿ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು.
And he bowed the heart of all the men of Judah, even as [the heart of] one man; so that they sent unto the king, [saying], Return thou, and all thy servants.
15 ಅರಸನು ತಿರುಗಿ ಯೊರ್ದನಿನವರೆಗೂ ಬಂದನು. ಯೆಹೂದದವರು ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಅರಸನು ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.
So the king returned, and came to Jordan. And Judah came to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to bring the king over Jordan.
16 ಬಹುರೀಮಿನವನೂ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯನೂ ಗೇರನ ಮಗ ಶಿಮ್ಮಿಯು ತ್ವರೆಯಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೂದ ಜನರ ಸಂಗಡ ಅರಸ ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದನು.
And Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, which was of Bahurim, hasted and came down with the men of Judah to meet king David.
17 ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರಾದ ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರೂ, ಸೌಲನ ಮನೆಯ ಸೇವಕ ಚೀಬನೂ, ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹದಿನೈದು ಮಂದಿ ಪುತ್ರರೂ, ಅವನ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಸೇವಕರೂ ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ, ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಬಂದರು.
And there were a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Ziba the servant of the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him; and they went through Jordan in the presence of the king.
18 ಅರಸನ ಮನೆಯವರನ್ನು ಈಚೆ ದಡಕ್ಕೆ ತರುವುದಕ್ಕೂ, ಅವನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗಿ ತೋರಿಸಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ಬಂದರು. ಆಗ ಗೇರನ ಮಗ ಶಿಮ್ಮಿಯು ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟುತ್ತಲೇ, ಅರಸನ ಮುಂದೆ ಬಿದ್ದು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ,
And there went over a ferry boat to bring over the king’s household, and to do what he thought good. And Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, when he was come over Jordan.
19 “ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಅಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಎಣಿಸದೆ ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಬರುವ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ದಾಸನು ಮೂರ್ಖತನದಿಂದ ಮಾಡಿದ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ನೆನಸದೆ, ಅದನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಡದೆ ಇರಲಿ.
And he said unto the king, Let not my lord impute iniquity unto me, neither do thou remember that which thy servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.
20 ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಪಾಪ ಮಾಡಿದೆನೆಂದು ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾಗಿರುವ ನಾನು ತಿಳಿದಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇಗೋ, ನಾನು ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ಯೋಸೇಫ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗಿಂತ ಮುಂದಾಗಿ ಈ ದಿನ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ,” ಎಂದನು.
For thy servant doth know that I have sinned: therefore, behold, I am come this day the first of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king.
21 ಆಗ ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮಗ ಅಬೀಷೈಯನು ಉತ್ತರವಾಗಿ, “ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಅಭಿಷಿಕ್ತನನ್ನು ಶಿಮ್ಮಿಯು ಶಪಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮರಣದಂಡನೆ ಆಗಬೇಕಲ್ಲವೆ?” ಎಂದನು.
But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD’S anointed?
22 ಆದರೆ ದಾವೀದನು, “ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮಕ್ಕಳೇ, ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ನೀವು ನನಗೆ ಶತ್ರುಗಳಾಗಿರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ನನಗೆ ಏನು? ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಮರಣದಂಡನೆ ಆಗಬಾರದು, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ನಾನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಅರಸನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದು ಗೊತ್ತಾಯಿತಲ್ಲಾ?” ಎಂದನು.
And David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel?
23 ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಶಿಮ್ಮಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಸಾಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟನು.
And the king said unto Shimei, Thou shalt not die. And the king sware unto him.
24 ಸೌಲನ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗ ಮೆಫೀಬೋಶೆತನು ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ಬಂದನು. ಅರಸನು ಹೋದಂದಿನಿಂದ ಅವನು ಮರಳಿ ಸಮಾಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಬರುವವರೆಗೂ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಪಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಗಡ್ಡವನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಬಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಒಗೆಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
And Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king; and he had neither dressed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came home in peace.
25 ಅವನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಿಂದ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ಬಂದಾಗ, ಅರಸನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಮೆಫೀಬೋಶೆತನೇ, ನೀನು ಏಕೆ ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಾರದೆ ಹೋದೆ?” ಎಂದನು.
And it came to pass, when he was come to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said unto him, Wherefore wentest not thou with me, Mephibosheth?
26 ಅದಕ್ಕವನು, “ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಮೋಸ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನು ಕುಂಟನಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಒಂದು ಕತ್ತೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ತಡಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿ, ಅದರ ಮೇಲೇರಿ ಅರಸನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೋಗುವೆನೆಂದು ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ನಾನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದೆನು.
And he answered, My lord, O king, my servant deceived me: for thy servant said, I will saddle me an ass, that I may ride thereon, and go with the king; because thy servant is lame.
27 ಅವನು ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಿಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನ ಮೇಲೆ ಚಾಡಿಯನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನು ದೇವದೂತನ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ. ನಿನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಮಾಡು.
And he hath slandered thy servant unto my lord the king; but my lord the king is as an angel of God: do therefore what is good in thine eyes.
28 ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಿಗೆ ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಯವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಸತ್ತವರಾಗಿ ಇದ್ದರೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಭೋಜನ ಮಾಡುವವರೊಳಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನನ್ನು ಇಟ್ಟಿ. ನಾನು ಇನ್ನು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಮೊರೆಯಿಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋಗ್ಯನೋ?” ಎಂದನು.
For all my father’s house were but dead men before my lord the king: yet didst thou set thy servant among them that did eat at thine own table. What right therefore have I yet that I should cry any more unto the king?
29 ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಇನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದೇನು? ನೀನೂ, ಚೀಬನೂ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಪಾಲು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆ,” ಎಂದನು.
And the king said unto him, Why speakest thou any more of thy matters? I say, Thou and Ziba divide the land.
30 ಮೆಫೀಬೋಶೆತನು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, “ಹೌದು, ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನು ಸಮಾಧಾನದಿಂದ ತಿರುಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಬಂದದ್ದೇ ಸಾಕು. ಅವನೇ ಸಮಸ್ತವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿ,” ಎಂದನು.
And Mephibosheth said unto the king, Yea, let him take all, forasmuch as my lord the king is come in peace unto his own house:
31 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ಯನಾದ ಬರ್ಜಿಲ್ಲೈಯು ರೋಗೆಲೀಮಿನಿಂದ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ದಾಟಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಲು ಬಂದನು.
And Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim; and he went over Jordan with the king, to conduct him over Jordan.
32 ಈ ಬರ್ಜಿಲ್ಲೈಯು ಎಂಬತ್ತು ವರ್ಷದವನಾಗಿ ಮಹಾವೃದ್ಧನಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಅರಸನು ಮಹನಯಿಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸಿಸುವವರೆಗೂ ಇವನು ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದನು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವನು ಬಹು ಸಿರಿವಂತ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even fourscore years old: and he had provided the king with sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim; for he was a very great man.
33 ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅರಸನು ಬರ್ಜಿಲ್ಲೈಗೆ, “ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಾ, ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿಸುವೆನು,” ಎಂದನು.
And the king said unto Barzillai, Come thou over with me, and I will sustain thee with me in Jerusalem.
34 ಆದರೆ ಬರ್ಜಿಲ್ಲೈಯು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ಅರಸನ ಸಂಗಡ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುವಹಾಗೆ ನಾನು ಬದುಕುವ ವರುಷ ಎಷ್ಟು ಉಂಟು?
And Barzillai said unto the king, How many are the days of the years of my life, that I should go up with the king unto Jerusalem?
35 ನಾನು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಎಂಬತ್ತು ವರ್ಷದವನು. ಇನ್ನು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದು ಎಂಬ ಭೇದ ತಿಳಿಯುವೆನೋ? ತಿನ್ನುವುದು, ಕುಡಿಯುವುದು ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಿಗೆ ರುಚಿಕರವಾಗಿರುವುದೋ? ಗಾಯನ ಮಾಡುವ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಪುರುಷರ ಸ್ವರಗಳು ನನಗೆ ಕೇಳಿಸುತ್ತವೋ? ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನು ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಿಗೆ ಏಕೆ ಇನ್ನು ಭಾರವಾಗಿರಬೇಕು?
I am this day fourscore years old: can I discern between good and bad? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?
36 ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ದೂರ ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟುವವರೆಗೂ ಅವರ ಅರಸನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರುವನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಂಥಾ ಬಹುಮಾನ ಕೊಡುವುದೇನು?
Thy servant would but just go over Jordan with the king: and why should the king recompense it me with such a reward?
37 ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಆದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ನಾನು ತಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗಿ, ನನ್ನ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳ ಸಮಾಧಿಯ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಯುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನ ಸಂಗಡ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಮಗ ಕಿಮ್ಹಾಮನು ಬರುವನು. ನಿನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮಾಡು,” ಎಂದನು.
Let thy servant, I pray thee, turn back again, that I may die in mine own city, by the grave of my father and my mother. But behold, thy servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good unto thee.
38 ಆಗ ಅರಸನು, “ಕಿಮ್ಹಾಮನು ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರಲಿ; ನಿನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗಿರುವುದನ್ನು ನಾನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮಾಡುವೆನು. ನಿನಗೆ ನನ್ನಿಂದ ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾಡುವೆನು,” ಎಂದನು.
And the king answered, Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good unto thee: and whatsoever thou shalt require of me, that will I do for thee.
39 ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟಿದರು. ಅರಸನು ದಾಟಿ ಬಂದಾಗ, ಬರ್ಜಿಲ್ಲೈಯನ್ನು ಮುದ್ದಿಟ್ಟು ಅವನನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿದನು. ಅನಂತರ ಬರ್ಜಿಲ್ಲೈಯು ತನ್ನ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿದನು.
And all the people went over Jordan, and the king went over: and the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned unto his own place.
40 ಅರಸನು ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದನು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಕಿಮ್ಹಾಮನು ಬಂದನು. ಯೆಹೂದದ ಸೈನಿಕರೆಲ್ಲರೂ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಅರ್ಧ ಪಾಲು ಸೈನಿಕರೂ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದರು.
So the king went over to Gilgal, and Chimham went over with him: and all the people of Judah brought the king over, and also half the people of Israel.
41 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, “ನಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರರಾದ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಕಳ್ಳತನವಾಗಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕರೆತಂದದ್ದೇನು? ಅರಸನನ್ನೂ, ಅವನ ಮನೆಯವರನ್ನೂ, ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇರುವ ದಾವೀದನ ಸಕಲ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟಿಸಿದ್ದೇನು?” ಎಂದರು.
And, behold, all the men of Israel came to the king; and said unto the king, Why have our brethren the men of Judah stolen thee away, and brought the king, and his household, over Jordan, and all David’s men with him?
42 ಆಗ ಯೆಹೂದದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರವಾಗಿ, “ಅರಸನು ನಮಗೆ ಸಮೀಪ ಬಂಧುವಾದುದರಿಂದ, ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ನೀವು ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡಿರುವುದೇನು? ನಾವು ಅರಸನ ಖರ್ಚಿನಿಂದ ಏನಾದರೂ ಊಟ ಮಾಡಿದೆವೋ? ನಾವು ನಮಗಾಗಿ ಏನನ್ನಾದರೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇವೆಯೇ?” ಎಂದರು.
And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of kin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the king’s cost? or hath he given us any gift?
43 ಆದರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಯೆಹೂದ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರವಾಗಿ, “ಅರಸನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ಹತ್ತು ಪಾಲು ಉಂಟು. ನಿಮಗಿಂತ ನಮಗೆ ದಾವೀದನ ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆಯು ಅಧಿಕವಾಗಿದೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ತಿರುಗಿ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರುವುದರ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದವರು ನಾವಲ್ಲವೋ? ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಏಕೆ ಅಲ್ಪರಾಗಿ ಎಣಿಸಿದಿರಿ?” ಎಂದರು. ಆದರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಯೆಹೂದ ಜನರ ಮಾತುಗಳು ಕಠಿಣವಾಗಿದ್ದವು.
And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king; and we have also more [right] in David than ye: why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.
